Gcount 0.9 RC1

Gcount 0.9 RC1

GCount is a graphical web counter and logging script. more>>
GCount is a graphical web counter and logging script. I developed GCount because I wanted a graphical web counter for a page I was working on. I wanted one that I had some control over, one that offered some flexibilty.
I wrote GCount from the ground up to be functional and quick. I hope that is what is has become.
Main features:
- 100% PHP
- Uses the super small and fast SQLite library
- Many different type faces to choose from
- Reporting available for each counter, know who visits your site!
- FAST! On my 700mhz machine it takes .02 seconds to make a counter
Enhancements:
- Added PDO support for people that have that. That includes SQLite and much requested MySQL. Technically any PDO driver should work but SQLite and MySQL are the only tested ones right now.
- Better debugging if something does go wrong
- Removed a duplicate counter thanks to Scott Stevensons good eye.

Gmrun 0.9

Gmrun 0.9

Gmrun is a little window for running programs, featuring tab completion, history, etc. more>>
Gmrun is a little window for running programs, featuring tab completion, history, etc.
It lets you launch programs by typing their names. It features tab completion similar to bash or Emacs.
It can complete program names from $PATH, or if the command starts with "/" it will complete file names.
It provides a command history of configurable size, as well as the ability to perform forward/backward searches through the command history. gmrun was developed as a replacement for the Gnome Run program.
Main features:
- Provides bash-like TAB completion, only nicer (shows a list containing all possible completions and let the user chose from it; yes, its also possible to choose with the mouse, but youll see that the keyboard is outstanding :).
- Enter simply runs the command line, CTRL-ENTER runs it in a terminal. Of course, the terminal command is configurable in the configuration file, located usually in "~/.gmrunrc".
- Can run files that do not have "execute" permission :) More specifically, you set a handler for ".doc" files in your .gmrunrc, and it uses that handler to open ".doc" files. [ new in 0.8 ]
- Maintains a list of previous commands (history). One can interactively search a command in this list using CTRL-R / CTRL-S (something like interactive search in Emacs), or prefixing the command with an exclamation sign "!" -- like in bash, only the user has a chance to see the command before running it, therefore has a chance to change his mind.
- It has a small window, not bloated with useless buttons and space-wasting things like "gnome-run".
- Allows URLs (but they have to be configured in the ~/.gmrunrc file). No matter what, if the input string is in the form "whatever://address" then it looks for an URL handler associated with the "whatever" URL and passes to it the "address" string.
- Allows user to specify a list of commands that will be always run in a terminal, regardless if the fired key is ENTER or CTRL-ENTER.
- When started, if a history file exists shows the last command as selected text, such as the user can press ENTER directly to run it again or type another text and the old one will be erased.

CubeTest 0.9.4

CubeTest 0.9.4

CubeTest is a small program that allows you to train your spatial insight. more>>
CubeTest is a small program that allows you to train your spatial insight.
CubeTest is implemented with two different libraries, Trolltechs Qt library and the Java Swing library. The huge free software project KDE also uses the Qt library which means that this library is available on the majority of GNU/Linux systems.
The library is also freely available for Mac OS X. There are no other dependencies than either Qt or Java. There is no need for an OpenGL library despite the use of 3D objects.
For displaying the 3D objects Ive written a number of classes. A square in 3D is, when displayed without perspective, always visible as a trapezoid. Both the Qt and Java libraries allow a square to be sheared to a trapezoid. So with the right amount of shearing, a collection of squares looks like a 3D object.
The classes I wrote use this principle. Its fairly easy to make other 3D objects with these classes and use them as widgets. You can draw on the surface of the cubes as you would on a normal widget. In contrast with OpenGL, the scaling is done smoothly in the Qt classes. Its for example not hard to make a cube with sides that act as buttons as a replacement for boring 2D buttons.
The classes needed for makeing 3D objects are Object and Side. An object consists of an arbitrary number of Sides. Its also a Qt widget that can be manipulated with the mouse. In the downloadable package, theres a small demonstration program called fun which demonstrates the flexibility of the classes Object and Side.
Enhancements:
- Ported to Qt 4
- Two new languages: Italian and Portugese
- Cleanup autotools files

Cwdaemon 0.9.4

Cwdaemon 0.9.4

Cwdaemon is a small daemon which uses the pc parallel or serial port and a simple transistor switch to output morse code. more>>
Cwdaemon is a small daemon which uses the pc parallel or serial port and a simple transistor switch to output morse code to a transmitter from a text message sent to it via the udp internet protocol.

Cwdaemon uses the PC speaker or your soundcard to generate a sidetone. The program is called as root, with "cwdaemon -p portnumber -s device". If no portnumber is given, the default portnumber 6789 is used. Device should be one of ttyS0, ttyS1, parport0 or parport1. Please read the README in the source package for information how to setup your parallel/serial port.

Cwdaemon can be tested by installing the netcat package and type: "nc -u localhost 6789". Any character typed on the command line will be sent to cwdaemon.

You could also use the following shell script which is character based.

#!/bin/sh

old_tty_settings=$(stty -g)
stty -icanon
trap stty "$old_tty_settings"; exit 0 INT

echo "Press (CTRL-C) to interrupt..."

while true; do
nc -u localhost 6789
done

Batchput 0.9.4

Batchput 0.9.4

Batchput transfers files from a local directory, matching the regex you specify, to an FTP server. more>>
Batchput transfers files from a local directory, matching the regex you specify, to an FTP server. Written in Python, the program is focused on doing this safely and efficiently, using per-directory locking and a single ftp session.
Batchput was originally written as a program to transfer text files containing business transactions from one system to another. With this in mind, it is not a useful tool for doing things like mirroring a directory etc. If thats what you want to do, there are many good programs
out there that will perform nicely.
To use batchput, simply copy the batchput Python script to somewhere
useful and call it from, for example, crontab.
Enhancements:
- Added --ftp-ascii-mode option to support ASCII mode transfer.
- Added --auth-netrc-* options for dealing with netrc files. Batchput now allows username/password either through the URL, through netrc files, or through forced keyboard / terminal input.

After years of work on GtkHx, project founder and primary coder Misha Nasledov has handed over the project to Justin Turner Arthur on 2004-02-11. Misha is pursuing an education and is working on a new project concerning sound synthesis.

He will continue to contribute the Debian packages for future releases of GtkHx. This website and the GtkHx development team will be undergoing various changes in the next few weeks, so keep checking this site for the latest information. Once a few important bugs are resolved, I plan on releasing 0.9.5.

Tntdb 0.9.2

Tntdb 0.9.2

Tntdb is a c++-class-library for database access. more>>
Tntdb is a c++-class-library for easy access to databases. The interface is database-independent. Driverclasses are loaded dynamically.

The goal of it is to have easy access to databases. You dont have to worry about resourceleakage, because all objects you use directly are allocated on the stack and deleted automatically, when going out of scope. The interfaceobjects are wrappers to referencecounted instances, so you can copy them around at your own will. Resources are freed, when the last object goes out of scope.

Errorhandling is done exclusively with exceptionhandling. Just wrap your code with a single try-catch and you have full errorhandling. Exceptions are all derived from std::exception.

STL is used where possible and also STL-like and -compatible interfaces are offered, where suitable.

Tntdb is targeted for applicationprogramming. It is not suitable for generic databasetools. It does not offer e.g. schemaquery. You have to know, how your tables look like. Thats true for normal applications.

You use SQL for databaseaccess. No wrapperclasses like active resultsets or databound controls are offered. Instead you have best control over the database. You can use every SQL-trick you know to get most out of your database. Also this is a thin wrapper, so that you should have no big performancepenalty compared to direct access to the C-API.

The project started already some years ago as a postgresql-wrapper. Later I added a sqlite-3-wrapper.

The current status is, that there is a working mysql- and postgresql-driver-class. The sqlite-3-wrapper is included here, but it is just a early design-study. Tntdb works, but it is not dynamically loaded like the other drivers.

The public headers include documentation, which can be generated using Doxygen.

Also there are some small examples in the demo-directory.

Kuote 0.9.3

Kuote 0.9.3

Kuote is an applet for the KDE panel, inspired by Gnomes Wanda the Fish. more>>
Kuote is an applet for the KDE panel, inspired by Gnomes Wanda the Fish. It displays an animated character (a fish by default), which pops up quotes generated by the fortune(6) program when clicked (and optionally shows them in tooltips, too).
Kuote supports kioslaves for both the animation file and fortune files (fortune directories still work from local filesystems only). This means that you can enter any URL, not only local file names.
Try for example this fortune file available over WWW: http://hektor.umcs.lublin.pl/~mikosmul/computing/inet-fortune
It contains only two quotes, so for testing purposes use it as the only fortune file or assign it a high probability if you want to actually see these fortunes.
Main features:
- support for user-defined animations (file format compatible with Wanda the Fish)
- run fortune or any other program to generate quotes
- fortune can be configured through the GUI
Enhancements:
- added new animation: "See, Hear, Speak" (CC-BY-NC-SA license) - thanks to Mark Riedesel [Klowner]
- added French translation (thanks to Nicolas Ternisien)
- added "Next" button to fortune dialog
- fixed a memory leak associated with dialog boxes
