Gaphas 0.3.2

Gaphas is a diagramming widget for GTK+ written in Python. more>>
Gaphas is a diagramming widget for GTK+ written in Python.
It is a MVC canvas that uses Cairo_ for rendering. One of the nicer things of this widget is that the user (model) is not bothered with bounding box calculations: this is all done through Cairo.
Main features:
- Each item has its own separate coordinate space (easy when items are rotated).
- Items on the canvas can be connected to each other. Connections are maintained by a linear constraint solver.
- Multiple views on one Canvas.
- What is drawn is determined by Painters. Multiple painters can be used and painters can be stacked.
- User interaction is handled by Tools. Tools can be stacked.
- Versatile undo/redo system

Emcast 0.3.2

Emcast 0.3.2

Emcast project is a generic multicast toolkit. more>>
Emcast project is a generic multicast toolkit.
Emcast is a multicast toolkit for distributed/peer-to- peer applications that require multicast communication.
It includes the program "emcast", a generic multicast utility (like netcat), and the library "libemcast", a generic multicast library.
Emcast supports IPv4 multicast (IM) and can easily support almost any end-host multicast (EM) protocol.
The EM protocols supported are Banana Tree Protocol (BTP) and Internet Relay Chat (IRC).
Enhancements:
- Copy from inet address, not string. Interesting that mcast was still working before in Linux.

hpanel 0.3.2

hpanel 0.3.2

hpanel is a small panel that lists your windows. more>>
hpanel is a small panel that lists your windows.
Hpanel is hacked version of fspanel, a small panel that lists your windows and allows you to switch workspaces.
It requires a window manager that is compliant with the NETWM specification.
It works nicely with pekwm and aewm++, and handles maximized windows better than fspanel.
Enhancements:
- When the panel is minimized to the right sideit doesnt reserve screenspace for it self anymore. This means windows can be fully maximized.
- This works if the panel is on top or on bottom of the screen.
- This make more sense too me than the original behaviour of fspanel which always reserved screenspace on the bottom of the screen.

MacOSD 0.3.2

MacOSD 0.3.2

MacOSD is a visualization frontend for PBButtonsD, the button and power event daemon used for Apple computers. more>>
MacOSD is a visualization frontend for PBButtonsD, the button and power event daemon used for Apple computers.

For PowerPC laptops such as the iBooks and PowerBooks a special daemon named pbbuttonsd can handle the special "multi-media" keys to dim the display and regulate the audio volume accordingly.

However I find the example Gtk+ application gtkpbbuttons not that pretty.

So I implemented a more On-Screen-Display like variant. Currently it can utilize the XOSD library.

Although recently that other program got some pixmap theming support, it is still written in "handling every bit manually C" and still uses Gtk+.

The latest MacOSD deos now utilze the anti-aliasing and real alpha blending canvas library Evas. It does utilize gtkpbbuttons themes just fine - and comes with a slightly cleaned-up version CleanOSX

Version 0.3.0 of MacOSD is also able to provide real transparency With latest X.org servers and a running composition manager.

GraceTMPL 0.3.2

GraceTMPL 0.3.2

GraceTMPL is a set of C++ classes which allow data to be saved as Grace files, optionally using a template. more>>
GraceTMPL is a set of C++ classes which allow data to be saved as Grace files, optionally using a template.
XmGrace is a very powerful tool to produce 2D-Plots of your data. However, though there is also support for running grace in batch mode there is a certain lack in support for automation.
When it comes to producing a presentation of your data on many sheets and your preferred formatting of the data should change sometime in the process, you could easily be confronted with a bunch of work doing the necessary changes.
The GraceTMPL classes provide an easy way to use existing grace-files as a template to format any number of graphs in a predefined way and save them as grace-files. This way you can apply the same graphical appearance to all of your data. In case your preferences change, you just alter the template and reformat your complete set of data within the shortest amount of time.
Main features:
- The application using the GraceTMPL classes can define environment variables for the sheet, each graph and each dataset. The variables can be used in the template for dynamic string replacement. Even output filenames can be templated using variable substitution.
- Datasets in the template file can be marked to be included in the destination files for easy reference.
- Datasets can be tagged with arbitrary information strings to be interpreted by the application using GraceTMPL. This way information can be passed to the application on how to create the datasets and what kind of information is intended by the template author.
- In case no template file is loaded by the application, GraceTMPL::Save will output plain sets of data tables which can easily be imported by XmGrace or other applications.

Kayali 0.3.2

Kayali 0.3.2

Kayali is a Qt based Computer Algebra System (CAS) that can also be used as an advanced replacement for KDE KCalc. more>>
Kayali is a Qt based Computer Algebra System (CAS) that can also be used as an advanced replacement for KDE KCalc.

Please Note: I am currently targetting a small subset of Maxima, while maintaining a medium-term goal of supporting all of Maxima. Please bear in mind that although Kayali probably does not support what you want to do with it right now, it can be made do so - but I need your feedback to do that. Please try it out if you can and share your thoughts.

Kayali is currently alpha software and has only been tested on my own PC. It you are reading this (condition1 : satisfied) and are prepared to give it a go, then please do send me feedback as to how you get on. At this stage I am particularly looking for hints about where to focus my development efforts, so please email me or post a message to the Kayali sourceforge forum with what you would like to see Kayali support.

I expect to see rapid development of Kayali so please check back regularly for updates.

Installation:

There is no real installation required. Simply untar the source tar.gz into a new directory. To run Kayali, type "python kayali.py" from the installation directory. Please note, however, the other required software packages. Of these, only Maxima and PyQt are mandatory. The others are only used for creating plots. If you are running linux then you probably have most of these already installed.

Algebra

Kayali supports all the algebraic operations of Maxima, however the graphical representation is not complete, though is being rapidly expanded. Please let me know what areas you would like to see finished first.

Try these for example:

eq1: 2*x + y = 13
eq2: x*y = 20
solve([eq1,eq2])

factor(x^6 - y^6)

factor(30!)

expand((2*x + y)^5)

Calculus

Kayali supports all the calculus operations of Maxima but again, I have only (so far) provided graphical support for a limited number of operations. Try these for example:

integrate(1/(1+x^3),x)

diff(3*x^4 - x^2,x)

Plots

Kayali currently uses Gnuplot for graphing. It also is using the Maxima interface to Gnuplot rather than addressing Gnuplot directly. This has both advantages and disadvantages.

Try this:

atan(-x^2+y^3/4) [Enter]

Then right-mouse click on the output in the table, and select Plot. Enter min and max values of -4 and 4, for both x and y. Select OK. After viewing the plot, click back on the History tab.

- For planets, the textures are a cylindrically projected latitude/longitude map (this is directly usable as a spheremap in POV-Ray).
- The illumination direction is now controllable from the GUI, and swirly spiral weather systems can be added into the clouds.
