Open Gaming System project is a platform for developing open gaming software.

It defines an API and provides a free software implementation of this interface. It is designed to be portable, reusable, and flexible enough for use in any game world or campaign setting including medieval, modern, futuristic, gothic, eastern, and western, as well as the traditional fantasy setting.

This distribution contains a software development kit (SDK) for development with C, C++, and Java.

"What is an open game?"

Basically, an open game is a role-playing game that uses an open rule system. An open game follows a recent trend in the role-playing gaming market where the rule systems for such games are shared with the gaming community much like open source software. Open source software is in fact the model for open games.

Role-playing games are a genre of tabletop and computer games typically set in a fantasy world where players assume and develop the personae of a character in an epic adventure. Back to the original question, open gaming software is software written for open games.

This software range from massively multiplayer online role-playing games (MMORPG), complete campaign management systems, or character generation tools.

Pim Pam PONG is a PONG clone with a new look and in future versions, new interesting features.
Pim Pam PONG is a clone of the original PONG developed in the 70s. Pim Pam PONG has been developed using the SDL libraries: SDL, SDL_image, SDL_mixer, and SDL_ttf.
This permits the portability of the game to some systems and machines. It uses the NNG Engine (New Neopontec Gaming Engine) developed by Hector Blanco (me) that uses the mentioned SDL Libraries.
The game concept is the same as the original. You have the control of one bar that can move up or down in the screen, and the CPU controles the other bar.
A ball is launched in a random direction, and you must score in the other part of the screen. Is similiar to Tennis and Pim Pong.

Globulation 2 is a Real-Time Strategy (RTS) game which reduces micro-management by automatically assigning tasks to units.
The player chooses the number of units to assign to various tasks, and the units do their best to satisfy the requests. This allows the user to manage more units and focus on strategy rather than individual units jobs.
It can be played by a single player, through your Local Area Network [LAN], or over the Internet thanks to Ysagoon Online Gaming (pronounced yog as in yoghurt) - a meta-server allowing transparent interaction between players and the IRC chatters on #glob2 (irc.freenode.net).
Globulation 2 features AI allowing single-player games or any possible combination of human-computer teams. Also included is a scripting language for versatile gameplay or tutorials and an integrated map editor.
Enhancements:
- This release fixes some bugs that crashed the game, and made it hard to play.
- It will hopefully be the last release before a major rewrite takes place.

Kamikaze project is a bomberman-style action game for KDE. Multiple themes, rulesets and internet level updates are provided to the player. Online multiplayer games are supported as well.

Enhancements:
- When playing online, player statistics are now registered with the server.

PaiPix Linux is a compilation of Free Software, based on KNOPPIX live linux, that is meant to be used in any environment but with special emphasis on science and technologies.
PaiPix Linux should provide an open door to the public including not only the tolls used by the scientists but also the best free applications that make your computer more interesting for any usage.
If you like it for office, video or even gaming, who knows if someday you can get curious and give a look at the scientific applications that are in your DVD.
PaiPix can be used at home, in medium and even large size organizations where the sharing of the compressed DVD image and the included afs file system support make it extreemely powerfull.
PaiPix Linux also serves to support clusters of distributed computing (using the paipix-terminalsever), for data servers, farms simulation farms and user laboratories.
PaiPix linux combines all the versatility of KNOPPIX with optimized configuration for several languages, including Portuguese. It intends to not only serve in document editing tasks but also for advanced technological and scientific systems.
Using the paipix-remaster script, you can change the default language of your iso image or add your personal files to the PAIPIX DVD.
This work was only possible because Free Software experts have created all the infrastructure allowing a gigantic world-wide community of software volunteers develop what is already, without any doubt, the best operative system the world.
However, because (r)evolutions take time, many companies that are developing systems - which in the end are designed to store in practice the technological and scientific knowledge of mankind - still work in a closed form (proprietary).
There is still a reason to use other operative systems while the community of free software does not this knowledge to the whole humanity. In the following table we include a correspondence that facilitates the migration to free software for each application. All mentioned free software is installed in PaiPix!
This software is distributed without any guarantee if not the fact that a great number of components are permanently being used and tested by millions of people in the whole world.
Based on Knoppix 3.8, including kernel 2.6.11. It uses the Unionfs file system that mounts the DVD image in read-write mode. Using this feature, PAIPIX can run your 3D-enabled drivers for ATI or NVIDIA cards. Just use knoppix install=ati or knoppix install=nvidia as boot option and run the FlightGear simulator (fgfs) to see the new fantastic 3D support in Linux

Sabayon Linux is a live DVD designed to transform a computer into a powerful Gentoo Linux system in less than 5 minutes.

Biniax is an unique arcade logic game. Simple and addictive, you can learn in a minute and play for hours.
The gaming field is a 5x7 grid filled partially with pairs of elements. Every pair consists of two different elements combined of four possible.
You control the box with an element inside and can move around the field on empty spaces. You can also remove pairs of elements if you have the same element as the one of the pair.
When you remove the pair, your element becomes the other one element of the pair and the score is increased. The gaming field scrolls down slowly and your goal is to stay on the field for as long as possible.

uvlan is a project consisting of a User-space Virtual Local Area Network.
In other words, uvlan peers act as nodes on a network switch. Ethernet traffic is routed between peers intelligently. This allows for multiple networks to share resources and even IP address space.
Some may call it a VPN (Virtual Private Network) application, but its much more powerful: it is peer-to-peer, is much simpler, and operates at layer 2 (ethernet). VPNs generally operate at layer-3 (IP), and layer 2 applications like gaming cant be supported with layer 3 tunneling.
