Eclipse Web Tools Platform Project 1.0

Eclipse Web Tools Platform Project 1.0

Eclipse Web Tools Platform Project is a top-level Eclipse project that contains tools for developing Java Web applications. more>>
Eclipse Web Tools Platform Project is a top-level Eclipse project that contains tools for developing Java Web applications.
The WTP project includes the following tools: source editors for HTML, Javascript, CSS, JSP, SQL, XML, DTD, XSD, and WSDL; graphical editors for XSD and WSDL; J2EE project natures, builders, and models and a J2EE navigator; a Web service wizard and explorer, and WS-I Test Tools; and database access and query tools and models.
Main features:
- Extension of the Eclipse value proposition The Eclipse Project has set a high standard for technical excellence, functional innovation and overall extensibility within the Java IDE domain. We intend to apply these same standards to the Web/J2EE application-tooling domain.
- Vendor ecosystem A major goal of this project is to support a vital application development tools market. Its exemplary functionality will be useful on its own but it will be designed from the start to be extensible so commercial vendors can use what this project delivers as a foundation for their own product innovation and development efficiency.
- Vendor neutrality Vendor neutrality will be at the core of this project. We aim to encourage Eclipse participation and drive Eclipse market acceptance by strengthening the long-term product value propositions of the widest possible range of application development vendors.
- Standards-based innovation This project will deliver an extensible, standards-based tooling foundation on which the widest possible range of vendors can create value-added development products for their customers and end-users. Where standards exist, we will adhere to them. At least, at first, where standards are emerging, we will wait for them to emerge; this can be re-evaluated later according to user needs and contributor availability. Where multiple technologies are widely used for a given functional need, we will attempt to support each, subject only to technical feasibility and our goal of providing the most capable and extensible foundation long term.
- Agile development Our aim is to incorporate into our planning process the innovations that arise once a project is underway, and the feedback from our user community on our achievements to date. We think an agile development and planning process, in which progress is incremental, near-term deliverables are focused, and long-term planning is flexible, will be the best way to achieve this.
- Inclusiveness & diversity We aim to assimilate the best ideas from the largest number of participants representing the needs of the widest range of end-users. So we will encourage organizations across a broad range of technical, market and geographical domains to participate in this project.

WorldForge::Sage 0.1.2

WorldForge::Sage 0.1.2

Sage is an OpenGL extensions library that uses SDL to obtain its function pointers in a cross-platform manner. more>>
Sage is an OpenGL extensions library that uses SDL to obtain its function pointers in a cross-platform manner.

Sage source code is automatically generated from the glext.h header file available from the OpenGL site.

Our vision is to foster an independent community, active in the development and maintainance of many unique roleplaying-oriented game worlds, with access to a rich collection of game rules and audio/visual media, a wide selection of server and client implementations, and a standard network communication protocol.

WorldForges mission is to produce the necessary tools and technologies that will allow the creation of graphically rich games of cooperation and socialization.

We strive to blur the distinction between player and maker, and wish to establish a positive community environment for current and future free game developers. Our efforts will culminate in a game, codenamed Belchfire, set in a well developed gameworld called Dural and using the Circe RPG rule system.

Our strategy is simple: Listen to what players, authors, and artists wish to do, and put the tools in their hands that makes it possible for them to realize their visions.
The WorldForge project evolved out of a desire for better internet role playing games.

Where Multi-User Dungeons have had a great degree of success through the early years of the internet, games like Ultima Online have failed to build upon these successes to produce an advanced virtual world of any merit.

Avinash Gupta and a collective of perhaps a dozen enthusiastic gamers began to share their vision of what a truely fantastic gaming experiance should be.

Ice Hockey Manager 0.3

Ice Hockey Manager 0.3

Ice Hockey Manager is a hockey simulator. more>>
Ice Hockey Manager is a hockey simulator which has the ultimate goal of creating a game that offers the most realistic simulation experience possible. Our focus is more on substance than style.
While we want the game to be intuitive, we arent looking to compete with the flashy 3D graphics you might see in games from EA or Sega. Theyve pretty much cornered the market when it comes to pretty graphics.
Were more interested in games that challenge your mind and not your hand-eye coordination. We plan to take hockey simulators (and perhaps sports simulators in general) to places theyve never gone before, The way we see it, the possibilities are limitless, much like real life hockey.
While IHM may not have photorealistic facial features for every player model in the NHL we do strive to create a game that really does make you feel like you are at the helm of your own hockey franchise.
We first started developing IHM in late 2001 and the development team consisted of two members, Bernhard von Gunten and Arik Dasen. The first real release of the game was version 0.1.1 in January of 2002. The game was playable but still very basic, more intended as a framework for future development. In July of 2002, version 0.1.2 was released with many updates to the game but after this release the project essentially went on hiatus until September/October of 2004.
Up until that time the project hadnt garnered much interest from the open source community, either the project was too localized to Swiss-style hockey or it perhaps just didnt get the exposure needed to get people to jump onboard, whatever the reason, IHM seemed to be more of a labor of love than a project that perpetuated itself. Fortunately, in October 2004, development kicked back into gear and all sorts of new and exciting features started to take shape. Some of these features include computer AI, multiplayer-support, trading/transfers, sponsoring/finances, full season/playoffs simulation, etc.
And the IHM team is currently working towards version 0.3, which has been dubbed a "Preview Release" to demonstrate a fully-operational playable game. Will this Preview Release set any kind of standard as far as hockey simulators are concerned? No, not yet. In fact, many elements within the game are still rather simplified, such as in-game simulation (which will begin development post-0.2), but we hope the Preview Release will compel other open source developers to help out with the project as there is still a lot to be done before IHM can be considered a complete game.
This website is intended to both introduce you to the game as well as to encourage you to participate and/or contribute to this project in some way. Whether you are a Java developer, a graphic artist, a beta tester, or something else entirely, we want to hear from you. IHM cant build itself, and while we have invested many hours into the games development we still have our limitations as to what we can achieve, both in time and resources. So if you think you can help out in some way, please let us know. Ideally, you should be a fan of hockey, but thats about the only prerequisite.
Main features:
- Game controller, based on a game calendar.
- Multiuser framework
- League framework (Swiss style leagues implemented, including playoffs and relegations).
- Teams, with statistics and informations.
- Players with attributes, statistics, contracts and informations.

Web Interface for SIP Trace 0.4

Web Interface for SIP Trace 0.4

Web Interface for SIP Trace is a PHP Web Interface that permits you to connect on a remote host/port and listen/filter. more>>
Web Interface for SIP Trace is a PHP Web Interface that permits you to connect on a remote host/port and listen/filter.
Web Interface for SIP Trace was born as a prof concept of the idea to capture SIP traffic from a remote host (SIP Proxy, Gateway, etc) and show up alive SIP messages about an specific dialog (filtered by From SIP user) to help our tech support team to debug SIP transactions in a friendly way.
There are 3 peaces of software in this process, 2 of them was created by us:
1. ngrep: Created by Jordan Ritter - http://ngrep.sourceforge.net
ngrep strives to provide most of GNU greps common features, applying them to the network layer. ngrep is a pcap-aware tool that will allow you to specify extended regular or hexadecimal expressions to match against data payloads of packets. It currently recognizes TCP, UDP and ICMP across Ethernet, PPP, SLIP, FDDI, Token Ring and null interfaces, and understands bpf filter logic in the same fashion as more common packet sniffing tools, such as tcpdump and snoop.
2. siptraced: Created by Devel-IT - http://www.devel.it
siptraced is a perl daemon who reads a ngrep log file and push each line on a TCP port, so every one connected on this port will listen all traffic captured by ngrep (dangerous and perhaps a waste of bandwidth). There is no user/IP authentication yet.
3. WIST: Created by Devel-IT - http://www.devel.it
WIST is a PHP Web Interface who permits you to connect on a remote host/port and listen/filter a SIP dialog of an specific SIP From number, avoiding to listen all captured traffic pushed by siptraced. The STOP control is done by browsers stop button. The output is colorized and "Call-ID" tag is highlighted to make it simple to be located. You can run WIST on any host running a Web Server with PHP >= 4.0.x and authorized to connect on siptraced remote TCP port.
There is no guarantee about our softwares, use it by your own risk. Read the source code first, if you didnt understand it dont use it!
Enhancements:
- Minor bugfixes.
- Shows error messages formatted in red.

Copernicus for Linux 2.0

Copernicus for Linux 2.0

Copernicus is a username and password remembering program for Linux more>> Copernicus is a username and password remembering program that enables you to store all your various internet login details in one convenient location. Rest assured, it is totally free from spyware and adware which tend to haunt this type of program. Apart from its ease of use, other benefits of Copernicus include the fact that it doesnt cost you a cent, is open source, will work on most modern computing platforms such as Linux, Mac OS X and Windows, and is available in more than ten different languages.
Features
Copernicus is extremely easy to use - as you can see from the screenshots listed on this page, all of your sites are listed on the left hand side. If you click on one of those sites - the associated login details (username, password and any other information you require) are displayed on the left. Due to the fact many people have multiple logins for a single site - you can even have several logins associated with the one site and can browse the other ones by clicking on the login drop down box, or clicking the shortcut for the next login (denoted by the > symbol).
Copernicus is well suited to a multi-user computer as each user can have their own copernicus file where they store their logins.
Like all Tank Software programs, Copernicus strives to be highly customisable. You can change the language that Copernicus uses to one of the many included translations (there are over ten, including French, German, Greek, Japanese, Russian and Spanish). If you dont like the Look & Feel (a.k.a the GUI theme), you can choose between the Kunststoff Java Metal theme (default, example at top), your System default theme (Windows, example at bottom) the standard Java theme or even a custom Java Look & Feel.
As stated above, Copernicus is accessible by most computer users supporting many different languages and operating systems.

Olive LiveCD 0.2

Olive LiveCD 0.2

Olive is (yet another) GNU/Linux Live distribution. more>>
Olive is (yet another) GNU/Linux Live distribution. Olive LiveCD distirbution offers quite a good deal of new technologies, hardly witnessed ever before, as well as some of the more common pieces of software. Its size is approx. 110MiB, yet it allows a lot of software to be used.
Olives whole point is to display how easy to use Linux may be, yet without losing any of the features required for heavy-duty work. Its also supposed to show various unusual new technologies, not widely known or accepted.
Please note that Olive was, partially, built as graduation work at SPSST Panska. Once presented, a release built specifically for school will be available upon personal request.
Main features:
Media
Olive features MPlayer for playing of your favourite movies. It plays most MPEG, VOB, AVI, OGG/OGM, VIVO, ASF/WMA/WMV, QT/MOV/MP4, FLI, RM, NuppelVideo, Matroska files. You can also watch Theora, MPEG4 (DivX/XviD), Real Media, DVD, VideoCD, SVCD movies. MPlayer also supports various filters for better experience. Mencoder is bundled with MPlayer and it allows you to encode movies into virtually any of the formats mentioned above.
Although you can use MPlayer to play your music, theres also an application that was written just for that: Audacious. Audacious is a fork of Beep Media Player (now discontinued), which is in turn fork of the very famous XMMS. It supports various audio formats, including MPEG layer 1, 2, and 3, Ogg Vorbis, Ogg FLAC, Musepack, WAV files and Windows Media, as well as many sequenced formats including MIDI, and a host of different module formats. In addition, Audacious uses Winamp-like skins (and supports Winamp "classic" skins), to provide a familiar and friendly user interface.
You can of course view photos and pictures using GQview, an intuitive image browser. It can generate thumbnails of your pictures, its capable of reading EXIF metadata, has advanced image search function and much more.
Internet
The Internet is part of everyday life for all of us; was it not for the Internet, you wouldnt be able to read this webpage. Olive features Mozilla Firefox web browser, currently the most common web browser used on Linux. For browsing in console, ELinks is a must-have. There is also Sylpheed e-mail client, small, fast and incredibly useful.
These days, Instant Messaging is a common part of our lives. Therefore, Olive sports GAIM2 (beta2) multi-protocol instant messaging client, which is compatibile with protocols such as ICQ, MSN Messenger,Yahoo!, IRC, Jabber or Gadu-Gadu. There is also a client dedicated solely to Internet Relay Chat (IRC), which is X-Chat. As usually, there are console alternatives, which would be CenterICQ and irssi.
You can use Kismet to look for Wi-Fi hotspots. Basic utilities such as telnet or ssh client and server (Dropbear, used in various embedded systems) are not missing as well.
General work
You can perform some elementary office work in Olive as well. Although its obvious that you wont be doing most of your office work on Olive, its quite reasonable to believe it can come in handy. Therefore, Olive has AbiWord word processor to allow you to read and write documents, in various languages, in various characters, without any problem.
AbiWord can also handle various document formats, which includes Microsoft Word or WordPerfect documents. You can also export your documents into HTML for further processing or publication. You can also read Adobe PDF format using Evince, a Gnome/GTK2 document viewer whose PDF backend is based on the Poppler library, which is based on the well-known XPDF. Utilities that allow you export of PDF documents into eg. HTML are also included.
System control
Considering the differences in approach to configuration in various distributions, it may be often hard to configure several things at yet another distribution, such as the X server or preferences of software alternatives. Therefore, Olive features a trivial control panel, allowing any application to be merged in as a new panel. Although it still misses few more desired panels (most notable for network configuration), it already is quite useful for every day usage.
Eye candy
Good-looking environment always helps users to better orientate on the workplace, as well as consider the time they spend with the system more enjoyable. Transparency can be achieved using XComposite extension and xcompmgr + transset.
Though XGL and AIGLX were considered, the decision was made not to use them for their lack of testing and for the demand for support of as many platforms as possible. Please note that even XComposite may have its own issues with other software, most notably Enlightenment and MPlayer, and for this reason xcompmgr is not run by default.
Lightweight
If you consider the above features way too much for you and strive for something lighter, then you can use the FluxBox window manager. FluxBox was finetuned to look and feel as much as Enlightenment as possible, making the transition simple. There are also lightweight versions of some of the software, as mentioned above, such as irssi, CenterICQ or ELinks.
Enhancements:
- A significant bug was found in v0.1, causing ramdisk for people who have 1GiB of RAM or more broken. Please, upgrade to 0.2.
