Java for C++ 0.4

Java for C++ 0.4

Java for C++ is a tool to generate C++-wrapper-classes for existing Java-classes. more>>
Java for C++ is a tool to generate C++-wrapper-classes for existing Java-classes. This tool reads a list of Java class names and creates source code for C++-classes to wrap them.
The implementation of the wrapper classes uses JNI (Java Native Interface) to call the "real" Java classes.
The C++-API to use these wrapper classes is very close to the API of the original Java classes. So developers of C++-software can use Java-classes as if they have been implemented in C++.
Enhancements:
- A problem where null values for method arguments, method return values, or field values caused some generated code to crash was fixed.
- Updating is strongly encouraged.

More for C++ 1.0

More for C++ 1.0

More for C++ is a class library that provides some features usually not common for C++. more>>
More for C++ is a class library that provides some features usually not common for C++

More for C++ includes a mark-sweep garbage collector, platform-independent classes for threading, sockets, and I/O, unit tests, and a few other utility classes.

First of all, there is a garbage collector for automatic memory management. When an object has been referenced by a special smart pointer and should not be used any more, it will be destroyed by the librarys garbage collector.

Next, there are platform independent packages for file operations, networking and multithreading. At the time being, concrete implementations exist for Win32 and GNU/Linux.

Additionally, the library has some utility classes like containers, observers and (of course the inevitable class "String" (which - like any other class provided by and used with this library - will also be managed by the garbage collector).
One of the most recent packages is called "servlet". It offers the possibility to write loadable modules for the popular Apache web server, serving dynamic content with C++.

Last but not least, "More for C++" comes with its own framework for writing unit tests. This package has been inspired by the fabulous JUnit by Kent Beck and Erich Gamma.

By using this library, you are able to combine the performance of C++ with the elegance and ease of use of Java and Python. A native garbage collector in combination with the smart pointer class helps you to avoid common programming errors like dangling pointers or memory leaks. Besides this, the platform independence helps you to easily port your programs to the most important operating systems.

Mock Objects for C++ 1.16.1

Mock Objects for C++ 1.16.1

mockpp is a platform-independent generic unit testing framework for C++. more>>
mockpp is a platform independent generic unit testing framework for C++. Mock Objects for C++ goal is to facilitate developing unit tests in the spirit of Mock Objects for Java, EasyMock and jMock.
Mock objects allow you to set up predictible behaviour to help you test your production code by emulating some functionality your code depends on. This might for example be a huge database which is too difficult and time consuming to maintain just for testing purposes.
Originally I started with a port of MockObjects to C++ and wanted to keep the same interfaces. But in the meanwhile I found out more about Java and its differencens to C++ (its funny reflection api for example ) and so I had to change a bunch of details.
Additionally I included the working method of EasyMock. From my limited understanding of Java there seems to be something similar in MockObjects but I guess EasyMock is easier to use and certainly was easier to port to C++.
Enhancements:
- This release fixes a compilation issue on Mac OS platforms and a parsing problem with mockpp2xml.

Xrefactory (also known as Xref, X-ref and Xref-Speller) is a professional development tool for C and Java providing code completion, source browsing and refactoring. It was the worlds first Java tool "Crossing Refactorings Rubicon". Xrefactory Java supports JDK versions less than 1.5.0!
Main features:
- Full integration with Emacs and XEmacs.
- Available on Unix (Linux, SunOs-Solaris, HP-UX, Mac OSX, etc.) as well as Windows.
- Support for both C and Java languages (including JNI).
- Source browsing based on our own tag implementation supporting multiple preprocessing passes and resolving scopes, accessibilities, overloading and polymorphism.
- Designed to work with the largest projects. Xrefactory indexes all JDK 1.4 classes (1 million lines of code) in 2 minutes and the Linux kernel 2.4.7 sources (3 millions lines) in 15 minutes. Xrefactory is capable of updating its index by reparsing only modified files.
- Refactorings for method (function) extraction; renaming of packages, classes, parameters, variables, fields (structure records) and methods (functions); insertion, deletion and moving of parameters, field and method moving; pushing down and pulling up fields and methods; encapsulate field; and more. Refactorings are safe with detection of possible conflicts.
- Very solid implementation of code completion. Recognizing approximately 15 different contexts with completions auto-updated after each modification of source code without need for recompilation.
- Functions for finding forgotten symbols.
- Detection of unused variables, methods and functions.
- Javadoc documentation available at your finger tips via hot keys.
- Multiple projects support with project auto-detection.
- Interfacing Emacs IDE functions from the compile.el and comint.el packages.
- Capable of generating HTML documentation.
- Full undo under Emacs and XEmacs.

Reflection Package for C++(unix) 1.02

Reflection Package for C++(unix) 1.02

Extracting type descriptors from debug information more>> Reflection is a mechanism making it possible to investigate yourself. If we are speaking about programming languages, reflection is used to investigate format of objects at runtime, invoke methods and access fields of these objects. Reflection is required if you want to implement some generic code which can work with objects of unknown (at the time of creation of this code) types. There are several tasks in which reflection can be used: remote method invocation, serialization, object dumps, database interfaces. How it works? Given some object we first should ask for its type. As a result we are given class descriptor, which provides information about class methods and fields. We can use these field descriptors to fetch/store object fields and can use method descriptors to lookup and invoke methods.
Many programming languages provide built-in reflection mechanism. For example, in Java there is special package java.lang.reflect . But unfortunately C++ doesnt support reflection. Not so long ago first step was made in this direction - RTTI support was added to the language. But RTTI provides only very restricted subset of reflection: it allows to get object compile-time and runtime type (it is possible to get object runtime type only if object class contains virtual functions). You can compare types and you can get type name - and that is all you can do with RTTI.

Database Independent Abstraction Layer for C 0.8.2

Database Independent Abstraction Layer for C 0.8.2

Database Independent Abstraction Layer for C is a database-independent abstraction layer written in C. more>>
Database Independent Abstraction Layer for C (libdbi) implements a database-independent abstraction layer in C, similar to the DBI/DBD layer in Perl.
Writing one generic set of code, programmers can leverage the power of multiple databases and multiple simultaneous database connections by using this framework.
Main features:
Database-level abstraction:
Your programs dont need to deal with the arbitrary interfaces and oddities of each database library. libdbi handles all the details for you, you just tell it what you want the database to do.
Modularity:
Since database code written with libdbi is not tied to one specific database server, you can effortlessly switch databases or give your users the option to specify their own database settings.
Clean interface:
With ample documentation describing libdbi and its well thought out object-oriented design, programming with libdbi should be less painful than programming with native database libraries. And you only need to learn it once instead of learning each database librarys syntax.
Accommodates coder apathy:
libdbi is written to do The Right Thing(tm), not just some quick hack that does the job in a half-assed fashion. This saves tons of your $100/hour time from debugging, so that you can mess around having fun during the hours that clients are paying you to debug. It also strives to reduce the worldwide crisis of carpal tunnel syndrome, so it uses constructs such as this one to pack multiple function calls into one line, saving you the bother of typing more than you have to:
dbi_result_get_fields(result, "id.%i firstname.%s lastname.%s fractional_value.%f", &id, &firstname, &lastname, &floatval);
Driver interface:
The dynamic linking used by libdbi allows for driver authors to license their drivers however they please - they are not restricted to the GPL or LGPL. Drivers are easy to write, and require no special installation.
Error handling:
Instead of checking every single database call for errors, libdbi gives programmers the option of registering an error handler callback, similar to a signal handler. Because we know youll "forget" to check for errors otherwise :)
Convenience:
Spend your time writing clever code, not reinventing the wheel with your own single-use, #define-abusing, less featureful database interface.
libdbi implements a database-independent abstraction layer in C, similar to the DBI/DBD layer in Perl. Writing one generic set of code, programmers can leverage the power of multiple databases and multiple simultaneous database connections by using this framework.
The libdbi-drivers project maintains drivers for libdbi. Drivers are distributed seperately from the library itself.
There are currently drivers for MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQLite, and mSQL. More are on the way.
Enhancements:
- Support for a timezone suffix in time and date types was added.
- Error handling and error reporting were vastly improved.
- Some memory leaks were fixed.

C# for Emacs 0.4.0

C# for Emacs 0.4.0

csharp-mode is a derived mode for cc-mode 5.30.x or higher that implements the font-locking and indention rules for C#. more>>
C# for Emacs is a derived mode implementing most of the C# rules.

After a good number of years, we noticed that there wasnt a "non-patched" version of a csharp-mode for Emacs.

There were a few, but most of them had comments that they were "in progress" or "about to merge", but then we noticed that those notices were there even after a couple of months.

Then, we saw a request for a csharp-mode on the cc-mode Emacs site, so we decided to follow the rules and create one that required no patching or modification to the core cc-mode engine (which is a good thing). So, this is the C# mode.
There was a 0.3.0 version, but it broke things more than it fixed, so we pulled it.

OODBC for unix 1.05

OODBC for unix 1.05

Object adapter for ODBC more>> OODBC is object interface built above ODBC API for C++ language. The primary goal of OODBC is to provide a flexible and convenient interface to relational databases for C++ language. Anyone who has to use ODBC or similar SQL interfaces will understand what I am speaking about. So binding of variables is performed exactly in place where they are used in the query. Programmer should not worry about specifying types and sizes of query parameters, binding buffers to retrieve results, allocation and deallocation of resources. As a result programming of interaction with database becomes significantly less error prone. What is more important, this interface allows programmer to abstract from relational database table and deal only with application objects. OODBC also provides flexible mapping of application classes on relational database tables, making application code less dependent of the database structure.<<less

Xrtti is an extended runtime type information for C++. more>>
Xrtti is an extended runtime type information for C++.

Xrtti is a tool and accompanying C++ library which extends the standard runtime type system of C++ to provide a much richer set of reflection information about classes and methods to manipulate these classes and their members.

Using Xrtti is as simple as running a tool (xrttigen) to process the class definitions of your program, compiling and linking the resulting generated code into your program, and then using the Xrtti API to reflect on the classes your program defines. You do not need to modify your class file definitions in any way to get the benefit of full reflection.
