Flying Saucer R7
Flying Saucer project is a pure Java XML/CSS 2 renderer. more>>
Flying Saucer project is a pure Java XML/CSS 2 renderer whose aim is to provide spec-compliant CSS 2.1 rendering for any well-formed XML document.
The current codebase can render to Java2D-based canvases and to PDF via the iText library, and covers a great deal of the CSS 2.1 specification.
There are demos for rendering XHTML, rendering within Swing applications, and rendering to PDF. Direct rendering from DocBook or other XML formats is possible, provided the appropriate CSS is available.
Main features:
- Vertical margin collapsing; CSS 2.1 specification
- Z-index property and stacking contexts; CSS 2.1 specification
- Vertical-align: top/bottom; CSS 2.1 specification
- PDF rendering via the iText library; support for PDF bookmarks, pagination and breaks, and more
- Pagination support, automatic and explicit: CSS 2.1 specification
- Rewritten "float" implementation
- Improved list marker positioning
Enhancements:
- This release includes comprehensive table support, faster rendering, bugfixes, better image generation, near-complete compliance with the CSS 2.1 specification, including lots of improvements like better forms support, CSS counters, cursor property support, compliant font property handling, and so on.
- Theres even a completely new, fast, and compliant CSS 2.1 parser built-in.

FlatFrag 0.3
FlatFrag is a multiplayer action shooter game. more>>
FlatFrag is a multiplayer action shooter game. With its deathmatch fights it strives to be an entertaining arcade-style experience.
The game is played from a birds eye view and contains some 3D effects in order to make it not seem too flat. Currently only the game mode deathmatch is available, but others will probably be developed in the future.
The game has been built from scratch, though a few important libraries were used in the process. For example, OpenGL is used for fast 3D graphics and SDL provides the game with many cross-platform functions.
It is developed by a single person as a hobby project, but it is released under the terms of the GPL (GNU General Public License), which makes it Open Source software. So everybody is able to get the sourcecode and do his own changes to the project.
Main features:
- Cross-platform support currently for Linux and Microsoft Windows (planned: Mac OS X, BSD, though you can try it anywhere with the provided sourcecode)
- 3D graphics using OpenGL -- the game is played from a birds eye view, but the individual tiles are 3D cubes
- 3D sound using OpenAL -- 2D would probably be more appropriate
- SDL is used for cross-platform input, networking and window creation
- Multiplayer network games with up to 32 players (actually there is no fixed limit set yet)
- Support for Lua-scripted modifications (more like planned, but the console already expects Lua code as input)
- File types: Ogg Vorbis used for sound compression, PNG used for image compression
- Advanced particle system
- Dynamic lighting
- Bots
- Ridable cars and usable stationary guns
- 14 different weapons (some of them very unconventional)
- In-game map editor
- Game modes: deathmatch (more planned)
- Dedicated game server
- A server list function, which fetches a list of servers. You can also see the list of servers here.
- Completely free software -- free as in speech and free as in beer -- Licensed under the GPL

JumpBox vTiger CRM 1.0
JumpBox vTiger CRM is a JumpBox virtual appliance with a pre-configured installation of the vTiger CRM system. more>>
JumpBox vTiger CRM project is a JumpBox virtual appliance with a pre-configured installation of the vTiger CRM system.
Once upon a time, in the raw and exciting days when automobile technology was in its infancy, taking a road trip meant bringing a mechanic along to fix the car every time it broke down. At JumpBox we look at the current state of IT systems and see great similarity with the early automobile.
Today, if you want to deploy and run a server based application you need a mechanic to come along to keep it running. With the automobile, as time passed, the technology improved, cars became vastly more reliable and many more people were able to take to the road.
With JumpBox we’re looking to do the same for server based software. We simplify what has traditionally been complex and deliver server based Open Source applications to an audience that otherwise would be put off by the technical burdens of the old way of doing things.
An integrated software stack in a virtual appliance
A JumpBox bundles the operating system, application and all application dependancies into a single installable module that’s easily deployed using virtualization software from VMWare, Parallels or Xen
Easy to Install
A JumpBox allows you to install a complex server based application without having to know anything about Linux, databases or the command line. You just download, extract the archive and open the application with your virtualization software. Further setup and configuration is handled through a simple web interface.
Simple to manage
The JumpBox platform is pre-configured, tuned and secured to minimize the management needs of the application.
Runs anywhere
Mac OS X, Linux, Windows it doesn’t matter. Thanks to the use of virtualization, JumpBox applications run easily on all the most popular operating systems.
Painless to upgrade
With a JumpBox and the JumpBox Assurance program (launching Q2 2007), management of the system is simple and efficient. Updates to the entire software stack are handled automatically by the platform with minimal user interaction.
Quick to move
With a JumpBox all the application code, data and the runtime are bundled together into a single directory that can easily be moved between systems or even across platforms. This allows you to start using an application by just running it on your desktop. Then when you’re ready you can open it up to the rest of the network and either continue running it on your desktop or easily move it to the server at any time. It doesn’t even matter if the server is running a different operating system, with a JumpBox everything is self contained.

XRally 1.1
XRally project is a X11 clone of the Rally X arcade game. more>>
XRally project is a X11 clone of the Rally X arcade game.
In Rally X, you control a blue car which has to run through a maze-like level collecting flags and avoiding colliding with enemy (red) cars. In order to protect itself, the blue car can discharge clouds of smoke which stun the enemy cars for a while.
The enemy cars can also crash into each other, what gives you some extra time. One of the main features of XRally is that it is fully customizable.
You can create custom tilesets and levels and load them at run time, changing the entire look of the game. (You could, for instance, create a water tileset, using boats instead of cars.)
Enhancements:
- Added the Easy Level, that should be suitable for begginners
- Fixed bug in the radar display (was displaying some weird green lines)
- Fixed some segfaults, added others
- Updated xpm2xrally a bit more forgiving about the xpm file syntax
- And now it outputs the maps on the new map format
- Changed the maps a bit (some of them were way _too_ hard)
- Removed some unecessary stuff
- Added a xm2mod utility, to convert xm music to mod (XRally format)
- Added a Intro tune
- Added a new level option, "resol", the sets how many tiles are painted on the screen at a time (see a example on the Leo Level)
- Added html documentation, written by Josh Franklin
- sound now works on PowerPC
- Debian files added to the main repository to make debian package maintenance easier.
- Loads of sounds enhancements
- Fixed bug when the player wasnt receiving his extra lives (some changes of
- score.value didnt check for it)
- Changed the layout of the info bar, now contains the level name, the number of the current map, the total number of maps and the hiscore for this level
- Some code cleanup
- Added ANSI color codes to debug messages
- Changed the intro menu
- Added a big nice background image
- Added blending effect to the menu.
- Added shading/unshading effect to the meu.
- Changed the position of all the item/texts
- Indentation fixes (using tabs instead of spaces)
- Added blended windows to splash screen messages, hiscores messages and in-game windows
- Changed the default border color from a window from red to gray (is that border necessary?)
- Changed the layout of the splash screen (to take advantage of all the new screen space)
- Added a more informative level description (w/ the speed of the cars on the first map)
- Slowed down the default speed (from 12 to 9)
- Displays menu help on the main menu screen
- Displays game help on the splash screen
- Changed the graphics API
- Changed some of the FPS counting routines (now it should be better to benchmark the game)
- Displays Expected frame len and Real frame len on end of map (good to see if your computer is fast enough to play the game)

RARS 0.91_2
RARS consists of a Robot Auto Racing Simulator. more>>
RARS consists of a Robot Auto Racing Simulator.
The Robot Auto Racing Simulator (RARS) consists of a simulation of the physics of cars racing on a track, a graphic display of the race, and a separate control program (robot "driver") for each car.
The goal of the game is to implement such a control program in order to compete against other programmers. An official formula one season is held every year.
All RARS software and activities are free and open to the public. Currently only Windows and Unix versions are actively supported, but some old DOS and OS/2 code exists and it should be possible to get it back to work.
Enhancements:
- a human robot controlable with a joystick.
- It works on Windows/Linux in OpenGl or not. To try it,
- start Rars
- place the robot "human" in the selected drivers.
- set the poplist follow car to "human".
- Take your joystick and good luck.
- The real robots are very fast :-) The vc_start.exe file for Windows has been updated and contains the human boot too.
- Also, it contains the following bugs fixes:
- replay of movies works even when the car is not compiled.
- (Unix) Due that people did RPM distribution of rars, it happens that the Rars directory was not writable. Now, if the current directory is non-writable. The files are written in /tmp/
- (KDE) the -nd (no display) works now.

MRBS is very reliable at this point. All the features that are needed in day-to-day operation are included. Its very intuitive for users, so very little or no instruction is needed. It is in production use at many large organisations around the world for uses as diverse as its originally intended meeting rooms to restaurant tables and aeroplanes at a flying school!
Different languages are supported, there are translations for many languages available (currently Czech, Chinese, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Italian, Japanese, Norwegian, Portuguese, Spanish, Swedish). Space Commander is a game that aims to be similar to Elite and Privateer, with maybe a bit of Trade Wars thrown in.
The project is a remarkably functional space simulation with under 200 lines of code in the main file.
DEPENDENCIES
You need a recent version of Python and some support libraries. The game is currently being written using Python v 2.4.3 but it may work with newer or older versions with some minor tweaking. I intend to be using Python 2.5 and PyGame 1.8 shortly.
- Python 2.4.3
- PyGame 1.7
- Numeric 22.0
Basically you need a pretty complete Python kit. Most Linux distributions should have everything that you need and Windows / OSX users will be able to install it all with a small bit of effort.
To play the MIDI score in Linux you have to install and configure Timidity due to some old code in sdl-mixer which is a pre-dependency of PyGame. If the game crashes and
complains about midi, just comment out the MIDI line in spacecommander.py to disable it.
As to performance issues. I pass the buck. If it runs too slowly then get a faster computer, better graphics card, better operating system, whatever.
The idea of writing this in Python is to have a compromise between ultimate performance and the ability to understand and tinker around with the code.
You could try reducing the number of stars in the galaxy by editing bigbang.py also.
Feel free to re-write the game in hand optimized assembler, but you must send me a copy of your code per the LICENSE.
RUNNING THE GAME
Linux: ./spacecommander.py
KEYBOARD COMMANDS
ESC / Q: Quit the game
Left / Right: Yaw
Up / Down: Pitch
PgUp / PgDN: Roll
Enhancements:
- The main engine was completely rewritten and now supports flying a spaceship around a randomly generated galaxy. 2D rendering of objects using PyGame is supported.
- Mouse flight control is featured.

Speak Freely is an application for Unix and Unix-like systems (Linux, FreeBSD, IRIX, etc.) with audio hardware, which allows you to talk (actually send voice, not typed characters) over a network. Speak Freely for Unix uses the workstation audio hardware and network to allow conversations of users over the network.
The phone company never gives you a break! Workstations on local area networks can generally communicate with excellent audio quality and response. A software implementation (developed by Jutta Degener and Carsten Bormann, Technische
Universitaet Berlin) of the compression algorithm used in GSM digital cellular telephones allows operation over Internet links of modest bandwidth. By using GSM compression in conjunction with sample interpolation, the data rate can be reduced to about 9600 baud. Users with CPUs too slow or two heavily loaded to perform GSM compression and decompression in real time may select less compact but quicker to
