Twisted Words library provides implementations of a handful of IM protocols, including IRC, MSNP8, OSCAR, TOC, and Jabber.

Twisted Words provides two separate high-level end-user features:

a multiprotocol instant messaging server
a multiprotocol instant messaging client

These are both still in the early stages of development and are not expected to work flawlessly in all configurations, however each is quite usable for a limited set of functionality. A Twisted Words server can be created with just a couple commands:

$ mktap words --irc-port 6667 --pb-port 8787 --passwd password_file --group somegroup
$ twistd -f words.tap

The Twisted Words client is named im and is usable as an IRC client, and possibly an AIM client (depending on the phase of the moon).

Once words and their meanings have been entered, the computer quizzes you and shows how many errors you made.

Memorize word Flashcard System is a Leitner Flashcard English learning tool.
Memorize Words Flashcard System was originally based on the idea of jMemorize although it is totally new written code with much more features and specially designed to learn words rather than being a general purpose flashcard program.
Main features:
- Creating multimedia cards with sounds and pictures.
- Learn cards randomly from a basket which can be created from expired, learned and unlearned cards.
- Start a time based and/or card based learning sessions.
- Automatically retrieving cards meanings from Internet (Merriam-Webster Dictionary)
- Automatically retrieve any words pronunciations in a audio format from Internet.
- You can decide to include pictures from Google image search results which are of course related to the word. (Can you imagine how much this visualization feature will help you learn the new language faster and easier?!)
- It automatically retrieve English sentences from internet which have used the desired word and then shows them in your learning process as practical words usage examples.

- You can set the expiration date of the cards based on their current learning position.
- This program has been written in Java and therefore could be run in any operation system with JRE 1.5+

PHP music player controller (PMPC) is a script that allows navigation through your music directory, and the adding of albums or single songs into a playlist. The project also allows you to play, stop, pause, and go back and forth through the playlist.
Apache needs to run as the same user that is running the music players. In other words, it probably needs to run as whatever your username is. This is a setting in /etc/httpd.conf . So, dont run this on a machine thats visible to the web, or make a user with really strict rules applying to them - so they cant run anything but an x session, desktop environment, and the music player, and cant touch much of anything but their home files.
I guess Id serve the pages out of the users home directory if I was doing that.
If you know a better way to get this to work, please let me know. I dont profess to be an apache-configuration guru, and for all I know this method is really just dumb.
If youre running apache as yourself, youll need to change the session.save_path variable in your php.ini to something that you have write access to, or chmod the directory its currently using.
PS: If amarok or xmms was working fine for you before, let me know. Ill have a chance to test them, and code the support for them here in the next couple of days.

MS Word to plaintext converter is a service menue easily converts MS Word documents to plain text files. The generated text file is named *.doc.txt.

Flagedit is a CLI USE flags and package keywords editor for Gentoo Linux. It lets you edit the USE flags of /etc/make.conf, as well as the /etc/portage/package.use file.
Flagedit project also allows you to easily edit /etc/portage/package.keywords.
Flagedit allows you to edit the use flags or the keywords for a particular
ebuild, or for the whole system. a backup is done for each modified file, named
file.old.
Usage: flagedit [PACKAGE] [ACTIONS | -- KEYWORD_ACTIONS] [ OPTIONS ]
Examples:
flagedit net-im/amsn --show # shows the use flag set for net-im/amsn
flagedit net-im/amsn +gnome # adds the gnome use flag to net-im/amsn
flagedit net-im/amsn -kde +xmms # adds the xmms use flag and set the -kde one
flagedit net-im/amsn %kde # reset the kde use flag (its removed from the line)
flagedit %kde # reset the global use flag (its removed in make.conf)
