Fire Gnome 19991219

Fire Gnome 19991219

Fire Gnome (aka gfirewall) is a GTK-based GUI for configuring a firewall. more>>
Fire Gnome (aka gfirewall) is a GTK-based GUI for configuring a firewall.
I am using mostly C in this code... but, I do like string and map from the stl C++ libraries so you will need libstdc++ to make it compile. I have, however, recently been exposed to glib BSTs. Although they are not as transparant as map is, I think I will convert the code to use GTree insteam.
Why? I wanted to make a tool to alter ipchains-save files. I think they are a useful way of storing ipchains configurations.
This is what I want to do for next version:
For now (items for v0.1.0)
Allow for adding and removing of rules in a chain.
Implement the statistics functions (with automated updates)
Write some hardcoded stock rules
Allow for macros in stock rules (as in MYIP or MYGATEWAY)
Allow for user additions to stock rules. Thanks to Shane Butler who suggested that I tie in with the Database of Masq Apps and especially with the Games List.
Improve on the display; Wallace Owen had an idea on displaying a colour coded tree based on chains and jumps not on the main chain they belong to.
Enhancements:
- thank you for your interest and support. I have been busy with life stuff and have not been able to put more effort into getting Fire Gnome finished. I have not abondoned the project but I just cannot see myself putting any more time into it till the mid summer. By that time the project will be revamped to work with iptables for Linux 2.4.x.

KWA Canadian Fire Fighters is a simple real time strategy game. more>>
KWA Canadian Fire Fighters is a simple real time strategy game. The task is to fight fires in a forest.

Installation:

The simplest way to compile this package is:

1. `cd to the directory containing the packages source code and type `./configure to configure the package for your system. If youre using `csh on an old version of System V, you might need to type `sh ./configure instead to prevent `csh from trying to execute `configure itself.

Running `configure takes a while. While running, it prints some messages telling which features it is checking for.

2. Type `make to compile the package.

3. Type `make install to install the programs and any data files and documentation.

4. You can remove the program binaries and object files from the source code directory by typing `make clean.

Fight Win Prevail 0.0.8

Fight Win Prevail 0.0.8

Fight Win Prevail (or FWP for short) is a hobbyist multiplayer first person shooter. more>>
Fight Win Prevail (or FWP for short) is a hobbyist multiplayer first person shooter. Fight Win Prevail is set in an imaginary universe where fearless pilots fight to the death with their futuristic vehicles.
Gameplay lies somewhere between the Mechwarrior-series and Quake 3. It is faster and more action-orientated than in Mechwarrior, but tries to avoid the jump-around-like-crazy-and-fire-at-everything-that-moves-gameplay known from Quake 3.
Fight Win Prevail is a pure multiplayer game and does not have a real singleplayer mode. Our primary target are LANs, but the game is playable over the internet, too.
Main features:
- Good graphics, physics, sound, and gameplay (for a hobbyist game)
- Multiplayer over TCP/IP
- 3 types of vehicles with individual characteristics (mechs, hovercrafts, and helicopter-like aircrafts)
- Distinct weapon types (classical projectile weapons, beam weapons, ballistic weapons, etc.)
- Distinct map types (from close combat indoor maps to large landscapes)
- An extendable set of vehicles, weapons, and maps
- 4 game modes (deathmatch, team deathmatch, sole survivor, team survivor)

Barrage 1.0.2

Barrage 1.0.2

Barrage is a rather violent action game with the objective to kill and destroy as many targets as possible within 3 minutes. more>>
Barrage is a rather violent action game with the objective to kill and destroy as many targets as possible within 3 minutes. You control a gun that may either fire small or large grenades at soldiers, jeeps and tanks.

Targets are fast paced and require careful aiming as it takes half a second to reload the gun. Additionally you have to keep an eye on your ammo and reload in time. Useful to kill some minutes of idle time.

And yes, the graphics look similiar to Command&Conquer but they are self-pixeled. I just used a screenshot of C&C as sketch. And no, none of the sounds are taken from C&C. I created all of them by myself except for the fonts which come from Karl Bartel.

Marauder-ah 4

Marauder-ah 4

Marauder-ah is a 2d space fighting game. more>>
Marauder-ah project is a 2d space fighting game.
Marauder-ah is a set of improvements over "marauder", originally written by Shawn Hargreaves in 1994.
You control a spaceship with a basic weapon, and your purpose is to kill as many people as you can.
Earning money (using piracy or trade) enables you to upgrade your ship and buy deadly weapons.
Game Rules:
Many years from now, in a distant corner of the galaxy, blah blah.
Ok. The rules are simple. Earn as much money as you can, and dont get shot.
When you start the game, you will see a little spaceship in the middle of the screen. That is you. Use the left and right arrow keys to turn, and the up arrow to fire your thrusters. Once you start moving it is not easy to stop. You will eventually coast to a halt, but if you are in a hurry you will have to turn round and fire your thrusters in the opposite direction.
If you fly around a bit, you will probably come across a planet or another hip (HINT: you can see all the planets and ships on the radar display at the top right of the screen).
There are two things to remember about planets. One is that if you fly into
them you get hurt. The other is that if you fly up close to one and then
press ENTER, you go to the shipyard.
Enhancements:
- Corrected code to compile with allegro 4.1.15 and gcc 3
- Added rest(0) to game loops to drop CPU
- Added some information to the top left of the screen
- Can repair if less than 10% damage
- Removed most of joystick support-related calls
- Removed play midi calls (BUGFIX !)
- Changed keybindings, defined in keybinds.h
- Increased bullet life (48 > 75)
- Increased treasure life (100->5000)
- Speed variation
- Laser, proton and matter can be used together
- Config file for keybindings using Zlog code
- Removed VC++-related stuff in the makefile, added mingw32
- Added commandline options parsing using Zlog code
- Added quiet option, hardconfig option, gfxmode and askgfx options
- Added mouse support (more comfortable for askgfx)
- Removed midi files from marauder.dat as theyre not used anymore
- Changed proton and matter cannon sprites so that theyre visible when used together
- Added configure script from Zlog (detects, downloads builds and installs allegro 4.1.15)
- Enemies now upgrade their weapons when possible
- Player can sell his stuff (weapons and so)
- Ships are drawn randomly at each different execution of the program (just added a rand() call)
- Changed weapon price

Gillo 1.0beta1

Gillo 1.0beta1

Gillo project is a two-player game where cars try to put a magnetic ball into a goal. more>>
Gillo project is a two-player game where cars try to put a magnetic ball into a goal.

The players are cars moving inside a 3D smooth-box shaped playground trying to catch a ball and throw it through a goal. The goal is in the center of the field. The goalkeeper tries to catch the ball before it reaches the goal. In order to catch and fire the ball, players have an directed magnet with an invertible charge.

To make things tricky, powerups are spread randomly throughout the playground to allow gravity rotation, ball inflation, and other funny effects.

Falling Up 004

Falling Up 004

Falling Up its another tetris clone. more>>
Falling Up its another tetris clone. No, Im not trying to make any money off of it or claim it as particularly unique. It is fun. Try it. Its evil. Im told that frequently.
People have even praised it. I wrote it as a precursor to other games, a way to learn new technologies (GLUT, OpenGL, OpenAL, NSIS, ...), and to brush up on old ones (c, for that matter).
The source code is essentially free to do with as you please, if you like. If you "steal" most of it, Id prefer you give credit back to here, but really... whatever. I learned from lots of places and anything I can do to pay that back is cool.
The game is... tetris. You have the same old blocks, and they fall down. You use left and right to move blocks left and right, up to rotate, down to move down a line, and spacebar to drop.
Theres a next item (optional), sound (optional), and... stuff like that. Please, just download it and play it already! Geeze! Youd think I was just rambling...
Enhancements:
- The score file was adding 1 to the "level" the score was attained at every time a new high score was made, give or take; that is fixed.
- I added a background image (doesnt work with trails, may slow down on slower systems), and made F4 quit out of playing the game.

Brutal File Manager 1.2

Brutal File Manager 1.2

Brutal File Manager is a 3D FPS filemanager. more>>
Bfm, the Brutal File Manager is a combined file manager and first person shooter game. The basic idea is to represent different folders on your computer as rooms in a 3D environment.
Then, armed to your teeths you go through these rooms and delete files by shooting att them. Take a look at the screenshots section and youll see what its all about.
Bfm is written in Java and uses the hardware accelerated 3D library Java3D. That means that it should run on all platforms that have Java and Java3D. It is tested on Linux and Windows.
The whole thing started as a project in our programming class in school, and the development has continued even though we have graduated.
Bfm is released under the GNU General Public License.
Main features:
- A 3D environment with rooms generated from the file system, the walls are "doors" to other directories
- Files are represented by cylinders on the floor
- Weapons: currently a spear, a shotgun and a sniper rifle
- You can delete files using your weapons
- Secondary fire: you can zoom with the sniper rifle
- Walls are colored in different ways depending on different attributes
- The look of the files depend on various attributes, default color is blue, read only files are red, hidden files are transparent and files that have been hit turn yellow
- Its perfectly safe to use bfm strictly for entertainment by starting it in safe mode, files wont be removed from the hard drive but theyll still disappear in the 3D environment
- A head up display showing current directory, safe mode and a crosshair
- A config file reader
- Platform independent (since its written in Java), should run on all platforms with a Java and Java3D installation (for more details look at requirements)

mod_trigger 1.1

mod_trigger 1.1

mod_trigger gives you hooks into each Apache request to launch triggers if certain actions occur. more>>
mod_trigger gives you hooks into each Apache request to launch triggers if certain actions occur. You specify the actions through directives that mod_trigger adds to the Web server.

This allows you to, for example, have a script email you when someone is visiting a certain page, let you know when someone from a certain domain is looking through your Web site, etc.

This will allow you to fire off scripts/CGI/servlets when these (and a few other dozen) events occur. No modifications are required to the content of your site and users of your server never need to know that a trigger has been put in place.

jasciimovie 2.0

jasciimovie 2.0

jasciimovie plays ASCII movies - sequences of digitized video converted into an ASCII representation - in a webbrowser via Java. more>>
jasciimovie plays ASCII movies - sequences of digitized video converted into an ASCII representation - in a webbrowser via Java.

An ascii-movie is a plain text file of screens seperated by escape codes for clearing the screen (in hex notation 1B 5B 48 1B 5B 4A).

These ascii-movies can get produced by the asciivideo sample program that is
included with the "libbgrab" package by me.

The movie files have to be compressed with "gzip -9" which saves incredible
amounts of space.

Compilation and Usage:

- Prerequisites: JDK 1.1.x+ installed and in the path
- To compile type: make
- To test: fire up a java-capable browser with the file jasciimovie.html

See the file jasciimovie.html for how to incorporate the applet in your webpage.

Configurable parameters are: the filename (the movie file must be in the same directory as the .html file), the fontsize (usable are 8,10,12,14), a flag of the movies gets repeated at the end, the frame rate and the colors.

The program tries to center the ascii-movie within the applet.

A copyright message is beeing displayed for 2 seconds at the beginning of playback.

A sample movie (cfilm.txt.gz) is included - look at the file also with "zless cfilm.txt.gz" to see the individual frames.

Keep the image files

back.gif
copyright.gif
pause.gif
stop.gif

also in the same directory as the .html file.
