FFTW 3.1.2
FFTW is a fast C FFT library. more>>
FFTW is a fast C FFT library.
FFTW is a C subroutine library for computing the discrete Fourier transform (DFT) in one or more dimensions, of arbitrary input size, and of both real and complex data (as well as of even/odd data, i.e. the discrete cosine/sine transforms or DCT/DST). We believe that FFTW, which is free software, should become the FFT library of choice for most applications.
Our benchmarks, performed on on a variety of platforms, show that FFTWs performance is typically superior to that of other publicly available FFT software, and is even competitive with vendor-tuned codes. In contrast to vendor-tuned codes, however, FFTWs performance is portable: the same program will perform well on most architectures without modification.
Hence the name, "FFTW," which stands for the somewhat whimsical title of "Fastest Fourier Transform in the West."
The FFTW package was developed at MIT by Matteo Frigo and Steven G. Johnson. Server co-location is thanks to the Joannopoulos Ab-Initio Physics group.
Main features:
- Speed. (Supports SSE/SSE2/3dNow!/Altivec, new in version 3.0.)
- Both one-dimensional and multi-dimensional transforms.
- Arbitrary-size transforms. (Sizes with small prime factors are best, but FFTW uses O(N log N) algorithms even for prime sizes.)
- Fast transforms of purely real input or output data.
- Transforms of real even/odd data: the discrete cosine transform (DCT) and the discrete sine transform (DST), types I-IV. (New in version 3.0.)
- Efficient handling of multiple, strided transforms. (This lets you do things like transform multiple arrays at once, transform one dimension of a multi-dimensional array, or transform one field of a multi-component array.)
- Parallel transforms: parallelized code for platforms with Cilk or for SMP machines with some flavor of threads (e.g. POSIX). An MPI version for distributed-memory transforms is also available, currently only as part of FFTW 2.1.5.
- Portable to any platform with a C compiler. Documentation in HTML and other formats.
- Both C and Fortran interfaces.
- Free software, released under the GNU General Public License (GPL, see FFTW license). (Non-free licenses may also be purchased from MIT, for users who do not want their programs protected by the GPL. Contact us for details.) (Also see the FAQ.)
Enhancements:
- This release fixes the --enable-portable-binary option in the configure script.
- It fixes thread compilation on AIX.
- Configure now detects Core/Duo arch.
- Altivec detection has been fixed.

PDL::FFTW 2.4.3
PDL::FFTW is a PDL interface to the Fastest Fourier Transform in the West v2.x. more>>
PDL::FFTW is a PDL interface to the Fastest Fourier Transform in the West v2.x.
This is a means to interface PDL with the FFTW library. Its similar to the standard FFT routine but its usually faster and has support for real transforms. It works well for the types of PDLs for which was the library was compiled (otherwise it must do conversions).
SYNOPSIS
use PDL::FFTW
load_wisdom("file_name");
out_cplx_pdl = fftw(in_cplx_pdl);

gMFSK 0.6
gMFSK is a multimode HF terminal program for Linux and other unix-like operating systems. more>>
gMFSK is a multimode HF terminal program for Linux and other unix-like operating systems. Despite the name, gMFSK can send and receive many digital conversational modes typically used by radio amateurs on HF. gMFSK supports the following modes:
MFSK (MFSK16 and MFSK8)
RTTY
THROB (1, 2 and 4 throbs/sec)
PSK31 (BPSK and QPSK)
PSK63
MT63
Feldhell
Main features:
- Point-and-click tuning of decoded signal
- Right click over received text and automatically move data to the log window
- Multimode waterfall display (waterfall, spectrum, scope)
- Remote logging using SysV IPC. (Currently supported by Xlog)
- PTT control using serial port control lines or parallel port data lines.
- Rig control using hamlib. This can be used to show real frequencies in waterfall or to control PTT.
- Fixtext macros can include variables and output from any Unix command.
gMFSK uses the computer soundcard to interface to a SSB capable transceiver. All digital signal processing is done in the main CPU so any soundcard supported by the operating system should work.
gMFSK is built on Gnome libraries but it doesnt require you to run the Gnome desktop. Most modern Linux distributions install Gnome libraries independent of what desktop you choose to run. You will also need the FFTW 2.x libraries to run gMFSK. Rig control naturally requires hamlib.

sauditor 0.3
sauditor project is a simple sample auditor. more>>
sauditor project is a simple sample auditor.
I made it because I wanted it and wanted the practice, so please dont complain that Ive made yet another sample player.
Its simple, it uses jack and it shows a pretty spectrum analyser so you can get an idea of the spectral content of your samples. I may be the only person who finds the spectrum analyser useful, but hey. The spectrum analyser is now X based. If you want to play with the text speccy analyser, get version 0.1
It was fun to get some practice back in C and C++, as well as learning to use jack a little better and fftw, libsndfile, libsamplerate and ncurses for the first time. Add xlib to that list now, too.
Installation:
No fancy autoconf/automake, although I might sort that out later.
Just use make to build it and make install (as root) to install it
Usage:
Just run it.
Enter or P plays the current sample, space toggles playing.
If the screen goes funny (which it shouldnt do anymore) use R to refresh it
F toggles the spectrum analyser window
Q quits
H shows the help and V shows version info.
Run with the -a option to show files starting with a dot.

IT++ 3.10.12 / 3.99.3.1
IT++ is a C++ library of mathematical, signal processing, speech processing, and communications classes and functions. more>>
IT++ is a C++ library of mathematical, signal processing, speech processing, and communications classes and functions. IT++ library is being developed by researchers in these areas and is widely used by researchers, both in the communications industry and universities. Since 2004, IT++ is also being developed as a part of the European Network of Excellence (NEWCOM).
The kernel of the IT++ library are templated vector and matrix classes, and lots of functions for vectors and matrices. Such a kernel makes IT++ library similar to Matlab.
IT++ makes an extensive use of existing open-source libraries (but not only) for increased functionality, speed and accuracy. In particular BLAS, CBLAS, LAPACK and FFTW libraries might be used. Instead of NetLibs reference BLAS and LAPACK, some optimized platform-specific libraries can be used as well, i.e.:
- ATLAS (Automatically Tuned Linear Algebra Software) - includes optimised BLAS, CBLAS and a limited set of LAPACK routines
- MKL (Intel Math Kernel Library) - includes all required BLAS, CBLAS, LAPACK and FFT routines (FFTW not required)
- ACML (AMD Core Math Library) - includes BLAS, LAPACK and FFT routines (FFTW not required)
It is possible to compile and use IT++ without any of the above listed libraries, but the functionality will be reduced.
The IT++ library originates from the former department of Information Theory at the Chalmers University of Technology, Gothenburg, Sweden. Because the library is coded in C++, the name IT++ seemed like a good idea at the time. While departments come and go, IT++ have developed a life of its own and is now released under the terms of the GNU General Public License (GPL) for you to enjoy.
IT++ should work on GNU/Linux, Sun Solaris, Microsoft Windows (with Cygwin or Microsoft Visual C++ .NET) and Mac OS X (more testers needed).

GWC is an application to do digital audio restoration on wavfile data, i.e. remove hisses and clicks. more>>
GWC is an application to do digital audio restoration on wavfile data, i.e. remove hisses and clicks. It features click repair using least squares autoregressive interpolation, and is based on the FFTW library. This is still beta code, so back up your data files first.
It is resulting of never wanting to boot to MS windows again. The only reason I had left was because I have this wonderful software to record digital audio, and the dehiss and declick using some very cool software (COOLEDIT 2000) and (Declick by M. Paar), to do the audio restoration.
I checked out some of the ongoing projects in linux, and either they crashed a lot or, didnt do what I needed, so I started this effort out of selfishness and also as a mechanism to learn the GNOME API for GUI programming . A lot of the code shows the efforts of that learning curve, and could certainly be cleaned up, but the I am personally pleased with the overall design. The goals are simple -- denoise, dehiss and amplify audio files. With the use of libsndfile, you can now do this on a multitude of audio formats, wav, au, aiff, ...
For those of you interested, I started working up a presentation describing the technical aspects of the audio restoration methods used in GWC.
Untar the source tarball (tar -xvzf )
Enter the directory created.
Run "./configure"
Run "make".
Run "make install".
"gwc" is the program file. All you have to do is run it.
Enhancements:
- BUGFIX: Ok. I messed up. The save changes stuff on exit was broken. Hopefully fixed now.
