ccextractor 0.30

ccextractor 0.30

ccextractor is a fast closed captions extractor for MPEG files. more>>
ccextractor project is a fast closed captions extractor for MPEG files.
ccextractor is mostly a mildly optimized C port of McPoodles excellent but painfully slow Perl script SCC_RIP. It lets you rip the raw closed captions (read: subtitles) data from a number of sources, such as DVD or replay TV.
As an added bonus compared to the original SCC_RIP, ccextractor can extract subtitles from the HDTV transport streams that are becoming more common.
At this point ccextractor extracts the line 21 captions (which must legally be present for a number of years until the transition to digital is complete). Note that in most .ts you can find, there will be subtitle data for both analog (EIA-608) decoders and digital (EIA-708). AFAIK there are not
freely available EIA-708 rippers.
Anyway, since line 21 captions will be available for some time, we have time to build a decent 708 ripper.
Basic Usage
For details on CC, please go to McPoodles page:
http://www.geocities.com/mcpoodle43/SCC_TOOLS/DOCS/SCC_TOOLS.HTML
You will need his tools to use ccextrators output.
The basic idea is that you get the raw closed caption dump from ccextractor.
Then you need other tools (which vary depending on what you want to do) to continue processing.
To get a transcript from a .ts file in .srt (I assume this will be the most common use) do this:
ccextractor -12 input_file
-12 means "extract both subtitle tracks" (actually technical names are fields but tracks is easier to understand). 1 is almost always English. 2 is Spanish in HBO (at least in the few samples Ive seen) but could be anything. Just extract both of them and check.
Example: cctractor -12 house315.ts
ccextractor will create two files, called house315_1.bin and _2.
Then use McPoodles RAW2SCC to create a temporary SCC file (means Scenerist, which is originally the native format for some program, its not important here).
raw2scc house315_1.bin
This creates house315_1.scc
From this .scc file, you can get the final .srt by using McPoodles CCASDI:
ccasdi -s house315_1.srt
Which looks like this (just 3 random lines shown).

Fast MD5 Implementation in Java 2.6.1

Fast MD5 Implementation in Java 2.6.1

Fast MD5 Implementation in Java is a heavily optimized implementation of the MD5 hashing algorithm written in Java. more>>
Fast MD5 Implementation in Java is a heavily optimized implementation of the MD5 hashing algorithm written in Java.
Fast MD5 Implementation in Java includes an optional native method for even greater speed improvements.
How Fast Is It?
Short answer:Much faster than any other Java implementation that I have tested and (surprisingly) even faster than the native, non-Java MD5 implementation on some systems.
Long answer:First of all, it is important to note that the term "fast" is used here in relative terms. The implementation of the MD5 message digest algorithm available on this page is written in Java and is fast compared with other implementations written in Java, both because it is heavily optimized by itself and because there is an optional native method that makes it even faster when the platform supports it. How it compares to a sensible implementation written in a language, such as C, that is compiled directly to machine code, is heavily dependent upon how good of a job the JIT compiler in your JVM does in compiling the code or whether you are able to use the optional native method.
Enhancements:
- Martin West contributed a bug fix and some code refactoring to make all targets work out of the box in the Ant build file. Previously, the "dist" target did not work if the "docs" directory was not present.

Obscure-Extractor-GTK can extract data from simple and unusual archives as used by games, e.g. Neverwinter Nights, Homeworld 2, BloodRayne.

Mostly a framework where I can easily add new modules when I want to have a look at the inner workings of games, though the Delphi version has some more advanced stuff like support for old InstallShield archives that would need to be ported.

Email Administration Utility 1.5.2

Email Administration Utility 1.5.2

Email Administration Utility provides an IMAP-based email account management utility. more>>
Email Administration Utility provides an IMAP-based email account management utility.
The Email Administration Utilities package can be used to manage email accounts with a series of PHP-based scripts through a browser.
Addition, Removal, and modification of accounts is possible as long as an IMAP port is available on the mail server.
The Mailadmin project was originally designed to help owners of domains that were hosted by Hub.Org Networking Services. The company wanted users to be able to create, remove or modify email accounts when ever they wanted, giving them a quicker turnaround for Mail Administration Purposes.
As the utility was developed, tested and matured into what it is today, many users requested more features or contributed reports of issues to help improve the utilities stability. Hub.Org has given me permission to release the utility as an Open Source package so that others may also benifit from the simplicity that the Mailadmin utility offers to those who need complete control over email accounts.
With this in mind, I intend to continue development by adding new features as they are requested and fix any issues that may pop up. The more users who use and test the features that the Mailadmin utility offers will help to improve the functionality offered by Mailadmin. I have opened a Sourceforge account to help manage the development and releases of the utility as it matures into what users and developers see the Mailadmin to be.
Main features:
- Administrator:
- Adding/Deleting Email accounts.
- Setting Account Quotas.
- Obtaining Administrative Access Over Older Accounts.
- Changing An Accounts Password.
- Interfaces with the Cyrus IMAP/POP3 server.
- Transaction Log system, allowing you to track changes or to help debug issues.
- Standard User:
- Changing The Accounts Password.
- In Development:
- Transaction Log system, allowing you to track changes or to help debug issues.

Swift Mailer 3.3.0

Swift Mailer 3.3.0

Swift is a fully OOP Library for sending e-mails from PHP websites and applications. more>>
Swift is a fully OOP Library for sending e-mails from PHP websites and applications. Swift Mailer does not rely on PHPs native mail() function which is known for using high server resources when sending multiple emails. Instead, Swift communicates directly with an SMTP server or a MTA binary to send mail quickly and efficiently.
Swift is comparable to PHPMailer except that it implements an extremely flexible and innovative plugin system meaning you can get the most out of sending emails from your PHP applications. The interface for Swift is both tighter and more intuitive.
I started developing Swift because I moderate a popular PHP forum and its clear from some of the posts we see that PHPs native mail() function just doesnt quite cut it among developers unless you know a lot about how to build emails and you only need to send one message.
The only other popular alternative was PHPMailer which is great, but it just struck me that maybe developers might want something with a little more "umff"! So I wrote Swift initially for the communtity at the PHP Developers Network Forums and have decided to release it now under the LGPL. Enjoy!
Main features:
- Send uses one single connection to the SMTP server or MTA
- Doesnt rely on mail()
- Custom Headers
- Multiple encoding options
- TLS Support - for Gmail servers
- Embedded Images
- Builds and sends Multipart messages
- Sends single-part emails as usual
- Fast Cc and Bcc handling
- Batch emailing with multiple Tos or without
- Support for multiple attachments
- Set message priority
- Request Read Receipts
- Sendmail (or other binary) support
- Pluggable SMTP Authentication (LOGIN, PLAIN, MD5-CRAM, POP Before SMTP)
- Anti-Flooding support (reconnect every X emails) via plugin
- Secure Socket Layer connections (SSL)
- Loadable plugin support with event handling features

Email 2.5.1

Email 2.5.1

Email sends email to remote SMTP servers via the command line, which makes it useful in cron jobs. more>>
Email sends email to remote SMTP servers via the command line, which makes it useful in cron jobs. It will send to any RFC standard remote ESMTP server, and will allow you to encrypt, sign, and design your message on the fly.
It has the capability to use signature files with dynamic options, address book functionality, and users can also attach pictures, binary files, documents, or whatever they want. It is completely compatible with GNUPG for encryption and signing, and is easy to configure and use.
Enhancements:
- A bug where an assert caused an abort when encrypting any message with GnuPG under Cygwin has been fixed.
- Compile time problems where the compiler would complain about SIG* being undeclared have been fixed.
- There is some minor source code cleanup.

Katapult-Fast Track 0.1.2

Katapult-Fast Track 0.1.2

Katapult-Fast Track project is a Katapult fork based on the KDE SVN repository. more>>
Katapult-Fast Track project is a Katapult fork based on the KDE SVN repository. It fixes several outstanding issues of upstream Katapult. Unfortunately, Katapult development stagnated and no progress has been made upstream for half a year. Hopefully someone from the team will actually reply to my e-mails so Katapult development can continue. If not this fork will need a name (Im obviously leaning towards Fast Track) and will be a separate project altogether.
Improvements over last stable Katapult release:
- Support for multiple results (Press up or down keys to see more results)
- Support for multiple actions (Press left or right keys to see more actions)
- Adaptive search
- Threaded architecture
- Non-blocking DCOP calls
Kudos to the team for providing the framework for multiple results, multiple actions, and multithreaded catalogs.
Caveats:
- Currently, only the program and bookmark catalogs actually return more than one result at a time.
- Only the program catalog supports adaptive search.
- Only the amarok catalog has multiple actions.
What this means for YOU:
- The amarok catalog should not slow down Katapult if you have a big collection of songs.
- The amarok catalog can now queue songs and add songs to the current playlist
- The program catalog will adapt to your launching preferences (i.e. no more "Konquest" results when all you want is "Konqueror")
- You no longer have to type more letters (press the down key to choose something else)
What is still lacking:
- Testing. Especially for the amarok catalog. I only have a couple of GB worth of songs so I cant speak for everyone but this should be an improvement over the last release.
- Spell catalog. Ive tried everything to get KSpell to play nice with separate threads (i.e. call KSpell in the main thread, block the worker thread till KSpell is done, then pass the result to the worker thread) but it just wont work.
- Composite support. I havent applied my own real transparency patch. Dont try to apply it here because it was made to specifically work against 0.3.1.4.
Installation:
Extract the files. cd to the created directory. Then ./configure and make and then install as root.
For any problems, either leave something here or post something at the Katapult forums. Ill get back to you as soon as I can. Please include how to reproduce your problems.
