Web Sharing is a small tray applet for sharing files on the web.

Publish anything on the Internet or your local area network at home, office or school from a folder on your hard disk with just a few clicks of a mouse!

Skolelinux is made as free (as in speech) software, and also Skolelinux is an overall computer solution based on schools resources and needs.

Skolelinux, Debian and all auxiliary software components we use are free software ? free as in freedom. The term "free software" implies the following rights:
- Freedom to use the software regardless of purpose and adapt it to ones needs.
- Freedom to study how the software works.
- Freedom to redistribute the software so ones neighbour can benefit from it.
- Freedom to modify and enhance the software and publish those modifications so everyone benefits from them.
These rights form the foundation of both Debian, Skolelinux and all the software we use. They enable us to use the various software components, put them together in our specialized network design and package and redistribute the software as "Skolelinux".
With proprietary software, such as Microsoft Windows, all adaptions and modifications have to be redone everywhere. With Skolelinux, modifications and enhancements done by a school in Norway may benefit schools in Eritrea ? and vice versa. Windows is the most commonly used operative system used in schools today, but as Windows is proprietary software, it is not possible to tailor Windows for school usage and call it "SkoleWindows".
Skolelinux (aka debian-edu) is a Custom Debian Distribution. This means that Skolelinux is a version of the Debian GNU/Linux operating system that is customized for schools. Debian is a state-of-the-art, user-friendly operating system. The goal of our customization of Debian is to make it easy to install and maintain for schools. ? with all applications available in the students mother tongue.
Despite how easy Skolelinux is to install, asking only a handful of (non-technical) questions, it is an advanced network solution, with many pre-configured services. With ordinary, closed, proprietary software, these services have to be configured manually for every single school ? and that needs careful planning and expertise!
Amongst several pre-configured services are the following:
- Central user catalogue: One username and one password for several machines and services.
- Central storage: Regardless of which machine you use in a Skolelinux network, you have access to your files and meet an interface with your settings ? an interface you are familiar with.
- Thin client solution: The applications are run on a thin client server, which is a powerful machine. The image from those applications is drawn on a "thin client", which usually is an old and cheap machine. This enables you to use old hardware. Moreover, it eases administration, as you have one server to maintain.
- Printers may be shared and made available in the network.
- A proxy server caches files downloaded from the Internet, resulting in a faster surfing experience.
Enhancements:
- This is a community release with comprehensive support from regional and national projects in Germany, Spain, France, Greece and Norway. The Skolelinux project is now a part of Debian under the name Debian-Edu. Several other projects have made additional functionality to Skolelinux tailored for national needs. Skolelinux now supports more than 50 countries. Whats new in Skolelinux 3.0: based on Debian 4.0 "etch" and therefore compatible to LSB 3.1, using kernel 2.6.18 and KDE 3.5.5...

eZ calendar provides a calendar extension for the eZ publish CMS.
eZ calendar is an eZ publish 2 module that provides an advanced Web based calendar application.
It supports recurring events, comments, groups, types, categories, priorities, status, comments, files, links, sorting, month, week, day, and year views, tooltips, JSCalendar date selection, and new design templates.
It features very flexible security and supports permissions on the groups that can view, add, edit, and delete events.
Main features:
- With eZ calendar you can filter the events based on the event type and for which group of people the event concerns. The eZ calendar features very flexible security and permissions on calendar administration depending on user groups specified in the admin which can view, add, edit, delete events. The public user in the prerequisite group can view either by day, month or year.
- It also supports a new dhtml, css user interphase, advanced repeat event, file/image/map attachments, directions link, html descriptions, multi-tier event groupings and many more features .
- eZ calendar is a powerful component to add into any existing eZ publish installation, especially used for collaborative and informative sites.
- eZ calendar provides calendar features which match most handheld and computer desktop datebook / calendar applications.
- eZ calendar has been extended to support every possible kind of reoccurring event type you can imagine.
- eZ calendar is a standalone module, which depends on the eZ publish framework, modules and classes.

eZ region provides updated eZpublish modules that provide Regions/States.

eZ region is a PHP class and an updated set of eZ publish modules that provide support for regions or states to eZ publishs eZ address and eZ user modules.

eZ region is not a killer app, but it made eZ publish one for me!

eZ region provides a lookup table of what some
call regions or states, depending on the country.

eZ region is an added dependacy to eZ address.
eZ region was based off the eZ country module.
eZ regions are each associated with an eZ country.
eZ region design is dependant on the eZ address and eZ country modules.

eZ region can be used in at least the following ways:

Default - Providing ezuser/user/userwithaddress with a region or stat list.
Requiring only eZ address, and eZ user .

Trade - Providing eztrade/user with a region list included in the trade transaction.
Requiring eZ address, eZ user and eZ trade.

Note: eZ region 1.1.4 does not contain the eZ trade user
functions to meet the trade use dependancy, though future releases (1.1.5) will.

International Regions / States:

eZ region can be used to support non-US States.

Only states from the United States of America are included in eZ region 1.1.4.
Regions from any country can be used in conjunction with U.S. states.

The missing dependancy for other regions is a list of
South American and European regions and some sql additions.

All countries have regions in some fashion or style.
A fair amount of North America has states. Other countries
Canada, Mexico, South & Central America & Europe use other names to lable their regions.

Users from other countries can use eZ region by populating
the eZAddress_Region table with a list of regions/states/provinces associated to their countrys ez country ID.

Note: International users feel free to contact me regarding,
including your countrys regions in eZ region.

libpubsub provides everything to setup a simple publish/subscribe environment.
If you are looking for a way to let several processes (not necessarily on the same host) exchange information with each other in a very easy (read at the moment: simple) way, libpubsub may interest you!
The main target is the usage in C++ applications. The package includes a tool to let even shell scripts get in touch with pubsub.

- the client is able to read the message broker address from the environment variable PUBSUB_BROKER
