Keen little rabbit ears 0.8
Keen little rabbit ears is a simple ear training program for Linux and Windows. more>>
Keen little rabbit ears is a simple ear training program for Linux and Windows. It is free of charge. You can exercise the recogniton of intervalls, chords, scales and chord progressions.
Keen little rabbit ears requires the installation of Perl (Version 5), Perl/Tk, Perl::MIDI and an extermal MIDI player, like timidity (Verion 0.2i). Keen little rabbit ears is written in perl, uses Perl/Tk for the user interface, Perl::MIDI to write MIDI files and timidity to play MIDI files.
This is an early release, which means that there is a number of features which are not implemented. But keen little rabbit ears works pretty fine on my Pentium 90 using Suse Linux (Version 6.1) and under Window 95 too.
I strongly recommend everyone to read a good book on this. There are several ways to train. In general you do it like this. In the first level only select 2 or 3 items you already know or which are
the most common. In the next level you proceed and add the next 2 common items.
Below is are two lists, which can be used as guideline. But it is usually better to ask your teacher which exercises should you train.
Enhancements:
- Quiz mode
- advanced root note selection
- extension to playing direction (both)
- highlighting of selected instrument / root note
- 440 Hz (sing an "a" test)
- bug fix (pitch drill)

KDELirc Improved (patch) 0.2
KDELirc Improved (patch) adds some different new features to improve kdelirc usability. more>>
KDELirc Improved (patch) adds some different new features to improve kdelirc usability. Above all i added On Screen Display, using Konversation and Amarok codebase. When some key is pressed on the remote, its shown through OSD on your desktop, and mode changing is advertised too.
I also added an option to allow mode changing with one key only, instead of binding one key for each mode. A new DCOP method now allows to suspend and resume key binding for the remote (dcop irkick IRKick setEnabled true/false).
Enhancements:
- Removed Konversation OSD, using Amarok one instead (improved, with images and translucency support).
- Now showing icon for mode change, for better visual recognition.
- Also showing a little icon for the keypress, so indicating what mode is in use.
- Added an option to select a different font for mode change and key press.
- Added dcop call to show osd text through dcop.

Gtk2::Ex::MPlayerEmbed 0.02
Gtk2::Ex::MPlayerEmbed is a widget to embed the MPlayer media player into GTK+ applications. more>>
Gtk2::Ex::MPlayerEmbed is a widget to embed the MPlayer media player into GTK+ applications.
SYNOPSIS
use Gtk2::Ex::MPlayerEmbed;
my $window = Gtk2::Window->new;
my $embed = Gtk2::MPlayerEmbed->new;
$window->add($embed);
$window->show_all;
$embed->play("movie.mpg");
Gtk2->main;
Gtk2::Ex::MPlayerEmbed allows you to embed a video player into your applications. It uses the XEMBED system to allow the mplayer program to insert its window into your application.
OBJECT HIERARCHY
Glib::Object
+----Gtk2::Object
+----Gtk2::Widget
+----Gtk2::Container
+----Gtk2::Socket
+----Gtk2::Ex::MPlayerEmbed
PROPERTIES
The following properties are accessible through the standard Glib get() and set() methods:
mplayer_path
This is the path to the mplayer program. This is /usr/bin/mplayer by default.
args
This is a string containing the command line arguments passed to mplayer (no default).
loaded
This is a boolean value that indicates whether the mplayer program is currently running.
state
This is an enumeration (described by Gtk2::Ex::MPlayerEmbed::PlayingState) that indicates the state of the player. state may be one of: stopped, playing, paused. It is stopped at startup.
METHODS
$embed->play([$content]);
This method has two behaviours: if the the loaded property is true (a video stream has been loaded), and the state property is paused, then it will resume playing the stream. If loaded is true but the stream is not paused, then the method will carp() and return undef.
If load is false, and the $content argument is defined, then the player will attempt to load and play the stream identified by $content, which may be a path to a file, the URL of a network resource, or a "meta-URI" such as dvd:// or dvb://.
$embed->pause;
This method will pause the current video stream. If the stream is not playing, this method will carp() and return undef.
$embed->resume;
This is just a convenience wrapper around pause(). The pause() method is really a toggle, and two subsequent calls to pause() will pause and then resume the stream, so this method exists to disambiguate.
$embed->stop;
This method tells mplayer to quit, and resets the widgets internal state. Before loading another video stream with play(), use this method first.
$embed->tell_slave($something);
This method sends a command to the mplayer slave process. The available commands are documented in the mplayer-slave-spec.txt file in the source distribution.

OpenCartable 1.3
OpenCartable project is an electronic school and schoolbook system. more>>
OpenCartable project is an electronic school and schoolbook system.
OpenCartable is an online tool for teachers and their students organized around textbooks and bibliographies of links to Web sites or uploaded files.
The "todo" links (or resources) can be affected as works that the student answers and the teacher corrects and marks.
The focus is on simplicity, with students only using three pages: their desk, textbooks, and works. Users are grouped in a school, and teachers manage their students through groups.
The contents are written as standard DocBook files plus a LOM (Learning Object Metadata) schema that can be shared among OpenCartable servers using simple tools like rsync.

Portage 2.1
Portage is probably Gentoos most notable innovation in software management. more>>
Portage is probably Gentoos most notable innovation in software management. With its high flexibility and enormous amount of features it is frequently seen as the best software management tool available for Linux.
Portage is written in Python and Bash and therefore fully visible to the users as both are scripting languages.
Most users will work with Portage through the emerge tool. This chapter is not meant to duplicate the information available from the emerge man page. For a complete rundown of emerges options, please consult the man page.
Portage has several additional features that makes your Gentoo experience even better. Many of these features rely on certain software tools that improve performance, reliability, security, ...
To enable or disable certain Portage features you need to edit /etc/make.confs FEATURES variable which contains the various feature keywords, separated by white space. In several cases you will also need to install the additional tool on which the feature relies.
Not all features that Portage supports are listed here. For a full overview, please consult the make.conf man page.
Enhancements:
- FEATURES="confcache" integration; global caching to speed up configure calls, requires dev-util/confcache
- elog framework and accompanying modules for logging ebuild warnings, errors and general notices. Collects eerror/ewarn/elog/einfo messages.
- New elog function (should replace einfo in many cases) version syntax enhancements allowing multiple suffixes and a new cvs prefix for denoting "live sources" ebuilds.
- config files as directories enabling more flexible settings management.
- Addition of an register_die_hook method that allows ebuild/eclasses to register functions to be called for better debugging on errors.
- Addition of pre and post user hookable functions for each ebuild phase, accessible via portage bashrc. Example would be pre_src_unpack .
- cache refactoring- runtime improvement from 35% -> 65%.
- Intelligently handle and display USE_EXPAND-based IUSE variables.
- FEATURES="parallel-fetch". Download in parallel to compilation.
- Include a "changed or new" USE flag output when --verbose isnt specified.
- Support for splitting out debug information into separate files in /usr/lib{,32,64}.
- exec subsystem refactoring (now with less bugs!)
- Added sha256 and rmd160 hashes for digests/manifests
- Make --emptytree only apply to ${ROOT} rather than always including /.
- Allow packages to be upgraded that are only depended on via a "|| ( =cat/pkg-1* =cat/pkg-2* )" construct.
- Ebuild output is no longer cut off early when using PORT_LOGDIR.
- Distfiles indirection- $DISTFILES access goes through a tmp dir to fail access to files not listed in SRC_URI.
- Emerge now uses --resume to restart itself after portage upgrade.
- Atomic file updates via the new atomic_ofstream class.
- Global updates and fixpackages performance optimizations.
- Tests show that file locking is now more reliable.
- A bash call stack is printed when an ebuild dies in ebuild.sh.
- New rsync option handling by using a generic PORTAGE_RSYNC_EXTRA_OPTS variable
- Manifest2 support that will allow digest-* files to be eliminated from the tree.

NcFTP Client 3.2.1
NcFTP Client is a File Transfer Protocol (FTP) client applications. more>>
NcFTPs purpose is to provide a powerful and flexible interface to the Internet standard File Transfer Protocol. It is intended to replace the stock ftp program that comes with the system.
Although the program appears to be rather spartan, youll find that ncftp has a wealth of valuable performance and usage features. The program was designed with an emphasis on usability, and it does as much as it can for you automatically so you can do what you expect to do with a file transfer program, which is transfer files between two interconnected systems.
Some of the cooler features include progress meters, filename completion, command-line editing, background processing, auto-resume downloads, bookmarking, cached directory listings, host redialing, working with firewalls and proxies, downloading entire directory trees, etc., etc.
The ncftp distribution comes with the useful utility programs ncftpget(1) and ncftpput(1) which were designed to do command-line FTP. In particular, they are very handy for shell scripts. This version of ncftp no longer does command-line FTP, since the main ncftp program is more of a browser-type program.

FXP.One 1.4
FXP.One is a whole new system to FTP and FXP. more>>
FXP.One is a whole new system to FTP and FXP. It is not just another client. This engine does all the hard work with dealing with FTP sites.
Built into that is a very simple but powerful API protocol. The idea is then, if someone wants to do an FTP, or FXP, client they can then make one without the FTP hassles. Currently there already are multiple clients. They all talk to the FXP.One engine, and you can interchance the clients.
That is, use one client to create and queue up some items and start the queue process. At a later time, a different client, from a different location can connect and check on the progress of that queue, change it, add to it and so on.
Main features:
- Full FTP and FXP capabilities.
- SSL/TLS support, auto-sensing and forced.
- SSL/TLS data support, auto-sensing and forced.
- SSCN seceure data FXP support.
- CCSN seceure data FXP support.
- XDUPE aware for faster queue processing.
- Auto resume, or overwrite options
- Resume last (re-queue all resume items last for faster queue processing)
- FXP direction control (if one site is firewalled)
- PRET Pre-transfer support for ring-sites.
- Skip lists for both files and directories
- Pass lists for both files and directories (opposite to skip list)
- Move-first for both files and directories
- Automatic skip of empty files and directories.
- Encodes all file and directory names as to handle any locale.
Enhancements:
- Local SSL transfers would fail without an SSL certificate.
- Local transfers would incorrectly negotiate CCSN.
- Both of those problems have been fixed.
- STOP methods were implemented.
- The FXP.One home is automatically created based on platform.
- Minor autoconf fixes were made.
