American Express Expense Report to QIF Converter 1.0

American Express Expense Report to QIF Converter 1.0

American Express Expense Report to QIF Converter is a utility that converts American Express expense reports into QIF. more>>
American Express Expense Report to QIF Converter project is a utility that converts American Express expense reports into QIF.
There are three main reasons:
1. American Express only offers QIF files for the last 6 months of activity whereas the expense reports go back 2 years. You can also run a report with a custom 1- to 12-month time period within 24 months of the current calendar month.
2. American Express QIF files have limited to no "categorization" whereas the expense report categorizes each transaction with a "Merchant Category" and "Subcategory".
3. American Express QIF files do not indicate which credit card in a multi-card account performed the transaction.
Main features:
- Inserts card owner and last 5 digits of the credit card in the memo field
- Reads config file for user defined rules so transactions can be automatically mapped to different accounts in your accounting software. Mapping can be based on:
- Credit card owner
- Vendor name
- AMEX "Merchant Category" and "Subcategory"
- Any combination of the above
- Sanitizes and cleans up vendor names
- Has the ability to add a prefix to all vendor names

Penny Pool 0.5.4

Penny Pool 0.5.4

Penny Pool is a small utility to ease the pooling of expenses. more>>
Penny Pool is a small utility to ease the pooling of expenses.
It facilitates the administration of many (small) shared expenses, which typically add up to significant amounts. It uses PHP/MySQL/Apache, and has an emphasis on easy installation.
A well-known problem in groups of people is how to distribute costs of collective payments. What usually happens is that one person pays and expects the rest of the group to then pay their respective shares to him / her. This is not a problem for a single incident, but when multiple events occur, with different persons paying, it would clearly be better to pool these events.
Payments can then be set up within the group, such that the number of money transfers is minimized.
PennyPool helps in administering these kinds of expenses in the form of a simple web application. First of all, the mere fact that expenses can be entered in a central location (to which everyone has access) makes it clear to everyone who should pay what. Furthermore, it is possible to group these expenses in settlements, which can be used as a starting point for actual payments among the members of the group.
These payments can also be entered and attached to the settlement. In this way, the progress of the settlement can be seen and it is obvious how much should still be paid.
The database only stores information that was entered directly. All presented data (e.g. balance) is calculated in real-time.
Precision is therefore limited by MySQL and/or PHP, only two decimal places are shown for readability. (this also means that the cents/pennies dont always add up, in which case a "miereneuker" should use the rounded cumulative result. As opposed to harassing me...)
Enhancements:
- It is now possible to bill participants multiple times. This makes it easy to use PennyPool even when some participants to an event are not registered users.

]project-open[ software is an open-source based project management system.
Functionality include internet collaboration and e-Rooms, discussion forums, Internet filestorage, customer management (CRM), timesheet management, management accounting with profit & loss per project, basic human resources management (HR), provider & freelance database, search engine, reporting, translation workflow and many more. We are currently working on four different "vertical solutions".
]project-open[ is a very complete online platform and already contains today many of the feature that are currently announced by many large international companies.
We can provide these features thanks to the open-source nature of ]project-open[ that allows us to tap into thousands of manyears of development time from other open-source projects such as OpenACS, AOLServer, PostgreSQL, CygWin, CVS, Postfix, Linux, Pound, Inno Setup, etc.
Additional modules: Data Warehouse, Room Reservation, e-Commerce, Automatic Testing, Content Management, Events, Bug Tracker, Categorysation, Wiki, RSS Support, Blog, WebDAV, Soap & XML-RPC, Calendar, Performance Profiling, CRM Campaigns, Jabber Integration, Filestorage, Glossary Database, News Aggregator, Online Surveys, Webmail.
]project-open[ is useful for project-oriented companies such as IT consultancies, general consultancies, advertizing agencies, etc. It is not very suitable for companies dealing with physical goods, because it doesnt contain the necessary modules (yet). Checkout Compiere or Open for Business as alternatives.

psad 1.4.6

psad 1.4.6

psad is a collection of three lightweight system daemons. more>>
psad is a collection of three lightweight system daemons (two main daemons and one helper daemon) that run on Linux machines and analyze Netfilter log messages to detect port scans and other suspicious traffic.
psad incorporates many signatures from the Snort intrusion detection system to detect probes for various backdoor programs (e.g. EvilFTP, GirlFriend, SubSeven), DDoS tools (mstream, shaft), and advanced port scans (FIN, NULL, XMAS) which are easily leveraged against a machine via nmap.
When combined with fwsnort, psad is capable of detecting approximately 50% of all Snort rules, including those that inspect the application portion of IP packets. In addition, psad makes use of various packet header fields associated with TCP SYN packets to passively fingerprint remote operating systems (in a manner similar to p0f) from which scans originate. For more information, see the complete list of features offered by psad.
psad is developed with three main principles in mind:
Good network security starts with a properly configured firewall.
A significant amount of intrusion detection data can be gleaned from firewalls logs, especially if the logs provide information on nearly every field of the network and transport headers (and even application layer signature matches as in Netfilters case).
Suspicious traffic should not be detected at the expense of trying to also block such traffic.
Enhancements:
- Added ENABLE_AUTO_IDS_REGEX and AUTO_BLOCK_REGEX to allow filtering on
- logging prefixes.
- Added code to save DShield email to a file.
- Added IPTABLES_PREREQ_CHECK to allow the administrator to control the frequency of Netfilter checks (for auto-block compatibility).
- Added IGNORE_LOG_PREFIXES to allow certain log prefixes to be completely
- ignored by psad.
- Added classification.config file from Snort-2.3.3 so that psad can assign danger levels based upon Snort rule class type. This is useful when also running fwsnort.
- Added snort_rule_dl to allow specific psad to assign specific danger level values to particular signatures. This is useful if you want to do define certain Snort rules as being particularly evil (or not).
- Running fwsnort is also necessary to take advantage of this feature.
- Added reference.config so that psad can include reference information in email alerts that are derived from attacks detected by fwsnort.
- Updated to Snort-2.3.3 signatures.

Adventure Money 1.0

Adventure Money 1.0

Adventure Money project quickly calculate money shared each month between multiple people for multiple bills. more>>
Since I am the person who manages the money for our house, I need an efficient way to keep track of our expenses and an easy way to calculate who owes what to whom at the end of the month. There are lots of good free software utilities for managing money like GnuCash, KMyMoney and the wonderful Gnumeric spreadsheet. I had been using Gnumeric to manage the money for the last 8 months, but now that we have some people staying at the house for just the summer, and other leaving and coming back in September, the spreadsheet was not able to adjust to these irregular circumstances.

The reason I decided to write my own application from scratch instead of using an already existing money management application was because my problem is multi-person orientation and most (if not all) of the money management programs I have tried are single-person oriented. For example GnuCash will let you setup accounts that show you all the money moving to and from a single person. But in my house things like food are paid by any person and shared by every other person. Thus to efficiently and easily calculate who owes how much, it must take into account the fact that one pizza may be paid for by one person, but it was eaten by 4 people. Also I dont want to have to divide up the amounts myself and put it into GnuCash with multiple accounts, because then I might as well be doing it on paper.

I could have spent my time learning to make an already existing application do exactly what I want; and I probably would have found something pretty close. But I decided that it would be faster to just program it from scratch and then I would be sure I would get exactly what I wanted. I think I was right; it took less then 2 weeks to finished writing this program.

The program is currently called Adventure Money, but if anyone can think of a better name for it let me know and Ill gladly change it.

When you first launch the program you will see it has five views, all of which can be seen in the screenshots below.

IOzone 3.271

IOzone 3.271

IOzone is a filesystem benchmark utility. more>>
IOzone is a filesystem benchmark tool. The benchmark generates and measures a variety of file operations. Iozone has been ported to many machines and runs under many operating systems.
Iozone is very useful for performing a broad filesystem analysis of a vendors computer platform. The benchmark tests file I/O performance for the following operations:
- Read, write, re-read, re-write, read backwards, read strided, fread, fwrite, random read, pread ,mmap, aio_read, aio_write.
Main features:
- ANSII C source
- POSIX async I/O
- Mmap() file I/O
- Normal file I/O
- Single stream measurement
- Multiple stream measurement
- Distributed fileserver measurements (Cluster)
- POSIX pthreads
- Multi-process measurement
- Excel importable output for graph generation
- Latency plots
- 64bit compatible source
- Large file compatible
- Stonewalling in throughput tests to eliminate straggler effects
- Processor cache size configurable
- Selectable measurements with fsync, O_SYNC
- Builds for: AIX, BSDI, HP-UX, IRIX, FreeBSD, Linux, OpenBSD, NetBSD, OSFV3, OSFV4, OSFV5, SCO OpenServer, Solaris, Windows95/98/NT
While computers are typically purchased with an application in mind it is also likely that over time the application mix will change. Many vendors have enhanced their operating systems to perform well for some frequently used applications.
Although this accelerates the I/O for those few applications it is also likely that the system may not perform well for other applications that were not targeted by the operating system. An example of this type of enhancement is: Database. Many operating systems vendors have tested and tuned the filesystem so it works well with databases.
While the database users are happy, the other users may not be so happy as the entire system may be giving all of the system resources to the database users at the expense of all other users. As time rolls on the system administrator may decide that a few more office automation tasks could be shifted to this machine.
The load may now shift from a random reader application (database) to a sequential reader. The users may discover that the machine is very slow when running this new application and become dissatisfied with the decision to purchase this platform.
By using Iozone to get a broad filesystem performance coverage the buyer is much more likely to see any hot or cold spots and pick a platform and operating system that is more well balanced.
The NFS3 Read Latency graph shows the latency of 4k read operations over an NFS Version 3 filesystem mounted on a client running Iozone.
The NFS3 Re-read Latency graph shows the re-read latency of 4k reads over an NFS Version 3 filesystem. One can clearly see the effects of the client side cache. Here the latencies are the same as local buffer cache latencies.
Enhancements:
- This release adds support for block device testing.
- It adds support for multi-node testing with the full path name to test files.

Piffle::Template 0.3.1

Piffle::Template 0.3.1

Piffle::Template is a Perlish templating language. more>>
Piffle::Template is a Perlish templating language.

SYNOPSIS

use Piffle::Template;
use Piffle::Template qw{template_to_perl expand_template};

# OO syntax, with output stored and returned:
print Piffle::Template->expand(source_file => foo/fish.xml,
include_path => [foo/inc,foo]);

# Immediate: OO syntax: output goes directly to STDOUT:
Piffle::Template->expand(source_file => foo/fish.xml,
output_file => *STDOUT);

# Procedural syntax, data from a string
$string =
< ?perl } ? >
< ?include std_disclaimer.txt? >
__END__
expand_template(source => $string,
output_file => *FILE);

This is a simple Perl-embedding syntax for template code which is geared towards allowing authors to validate their templates directly against schemas or DTDs. The embedded language is Perl itself, which allows great flexibility at the expense of having to be disciplined about the barrier between template code and module code.

In operation, the source template is transformed to an in-memory Perl script which is then run using Perls eval operator. Errors can be redirected to files or subroutines, and the output can be either caught in a variable or written to a file or open filehandle.

Test::Perl::Critic 0.07

Test::Perl::Critic 0.07

Test::Perl::Critic is a Perl module use Perl::Critic in test programs. more>>
Test::Perl::Critic is a Perl module use Perl::Critic in test programs.

SYNOPSIS

use Test::Perl::Critic;

critic_ok($file); #Test one file
all_critic_ok($dir_1, $dir_2, $dir_N ); #Test all files in several $dirs
all_critic_ok() #Test all files in distro

Test::Perl::Critic wraps the Perl::Critic engine in a convenient subroutine suitable for test programs written using the Test::More framework. This makes it easy to integrate coding-standards enforcement into the build process. For ultimate convenience (at the expense of some flexibility), see the criticism pragma.
