ControlTier 3.0

ControlTier 3.0

ControlTier application aims to be a complete enterprise-ready automation solution. more>>
ControlTier application aims to be a complete enterprise-ready automation solution. It is our goal to provide the tools needed to automate the build, release, deployment, configuration, and control of distributed, multi-tier applications. When it comes to ease of use and out of the box functionality, we havent met all of our goals yet but we are working hard to do so. Any comments, questions, or criticisms are always welcome.
ControlTier coordinates and automates the chain of events that take place when you build and deploy a collection of integrated applications (what we call a "site").
Youll use ControlTier to:
- Coordinate your build processes (interfaces with build tools like Ant)
- Manage your build artifacts and other deployable resources in a structured repository
- Coordinate the distribution, configuration, and control of the various applications that makeup a site
Unlike most automation solutions that are focused exclusively on hardware and OS provisioning in production environments, ControlTier was built to focus on the application build and deployment processes that run all the way from Development, through QA, and into Production.
Main features:
- Framework for sequencing and coordinating automation
- Configuration management database
- Logical remote management (manage lots of things as one logical unit, no matter where they physically reside)
- GUI based development and operations tools
- Improved reuse and componentization of your existing scripts and configurations
- Change detection and configuration validation
- Application status discovery and detection
- Fine-grain access control
- Release migration tools
- Logging (with environment context built-in)
- Reporting and correlation tools
- Cross-platform support (Linux, Solaris, Windows, Mac OS X, etc.)
Enhancements:
- This is a major upgrade of both the ControlTier automation framework as well as the pre-built automation modules and workflows that come with the framework.

xmms-pipe 0.5.5

xmms-pipe 0.5.5

xmmspipe is a plugin for XMMS that enables it to be controlled by sending strings to a named pipe (FIFO). more>>
xmmspipe is a plugin for XMMS that enables it to be controlled by sending strings to a named pipe (FIFO). When you enable the plugin, XMMS can be commanded by sending strings to $HOME/.xmms/inpipe, for example,
echo play_pause > ~/.xmms/inpipe
will cause XMMS to pause or play.
Since version 0.5.0, it is possible to setup an output pipe, and query XMMS for information. For example, sending "report title" to the input pipe will cause the current songs title to be printed on the output pipe.
Included is a demo program called "fade", that shows how to use the plugin to fade the current song and advance to the next one. It requires the output pipe to be be enabled (via the Config window).
The Infopipe plugin does output pipes a little differently.
When I first wrote this plugin, I didnt know about other programs that I couldve used to control XMMS with shell scripts, such as xmmsctrl or xmms-shell. However, Ive kept xmmspipe alive because pipes may be preferable in some situations:
The pipe automatically inherits the security features of the underlying filesystem (e.g. you could change its permissions so that only users of a particular group can control XMMS).
In many programming languages, writing to a pipe is easier than executing programs, making it easier to build programs to control XMMS.
The plugin can call internal XMMS functions which means it can have more functionality than programs relying on the xmms_remote_* functions alone. For example, XMMSPipe can load/save playlists.
Sometimes I think XMMS itself should just be an MP3-playing daemon that interfaces with the outside world exclusively through pipes (one for input, at least one for output). This would allow a lot more flexibility, e.g. the GUI could be arbitrary and playlists could be managed by an external program. (It would work in the same way gkrellm works with files in /proc.) Also, the code would be simpler because it only has to worry about reading various audio formats and playing them. It wouldnt have to deal with window managers, X, etc.
Enhancements:
- Added playlist_move command due to Graeme Yeo

net-check package is a pair of simple perl scripts that will monitor and report on your internet connectivity.

The scripts came about when my DSL provider repeatedly dropped the connections on a machine that was used exclusively as a dial-up gateway.

In addition, since I am spending $50 a month for my internet connection, I want to make sure I get what I paid for.

A Sample:

To: user@isp.net
Subject: Automated Network Checks Report

Last month, there were 64.25 hours of downtime out of 720 possible hours.
(There were only 2692 out of 2880 possible samples made.)
Last months ratio was 0.089 so your bill should be $45.53.

Libface is a special library exclusively for face recognition and it is built over Intels OpenCV Library. The project has got a complete collection of functions that are essential for building a face recognition system.

Considering the need for plotting functionality, Ive included N. Devillards C interface to gnuplot in this project. Special thanks to N.Devillard.

In the example section you will find some interesting examples using the Library.

Documentation for the library is not complete, but Ive tried my best to make it usable (Parallely I am also coming up with a new documentation).

Spirit Parser library 1.8.2

Spirit Parser library 1.8.2

Spirit Parser library is an object-oriented, recursive descent parser generator framework. more>>
Spirit is an object oriented recursive descent parser generator framework implemented using template meta-programming techniques. Expression templates allow us to approximate the syntax of Extended Backus Normal Form[1] (EBNF) completely in C++.
Parser objects are composed through operator overloading and the result is a backtracking LL(inf) parser that is capable of parsing rather ambiguous grammars.
The Spirit framework enables a target grammar to be written exclusively in C++. Inline EBNF grammar specifications can mix freely with other C++ code and, thanks to the generative power of C++ templates, are immediately executable. In retrospect, conventional compiler-compilers or parser-generators have to perform an additional translation step from the source EBNF code to C or C++ code.
Spirit is part of Boost Libraries, a peer-reviewed, open collaborative development effort.
Enhancements:
- Fixed bug where a match is a variant.
- added Jamfile/Jamrules from CVS to spirit-1.8.1/
- added boost-build.jam from boost to spirit-1.8.1/
- disabled template multi-threading in libs/spirit/test/Jamfile
- added a boost-header-include rule (from spirit-header-include) pointing to miniboost in libs/spirit/test/Jamfile
- Fixed if_p inconsistency

LostIRC 0.4.6

LostIRC 0.4.6

LostIRC is a simple, yet very useful IRC client. more>>
LostIRC is a simple, yet very useful IRC client. It has features such as tab-autocompletion, multiple server support, automatic joining of servers/channels, logging and DCC sending which should cover the needs of most people.
Another goal that the application has in mind, is 100% keyboard controlability. It was written using the gtkmm GUI library.
Main features:
- Simple and minimal - the client doesnt try to satisfy the needs of 99% of the globe, this means that the client almost exclusively has "nice" features, compared to many other clients which can be considered bloated to some extent.
- Keyboard controlled - you can use the mouse if you want to, but you are also free to keep your fingers at the keyboard and control everything from there. Sometimes its actually faster.
- Tab-completion - both nicks and IRC-commands can be autocompleted when using the TAB key. This can speed up your typing quite a bit, especially if you are talking to people with a complicated or lengthy nick. to /JOIN etc.)
- Multiple server support - The client can in theory connect to an unlimited number of IRC-servers at once. When getting disconnected from a server, LostIRC automatically reconnects and joins the channels that you were previously on.
- Automatic joining of servers and channels - In LostIRCs preferences, you can setup exactly which servers you want to connect to when starting LostIRC. You can also specify exactly which commands that should be executed on connect, e.g. you could put /JOIN #foo,#bar to join #foo and #bar.
- Logging - Again in Preferences, you can set up LostIRC to log data from your LostIRC sessions to a file.
- DCC SEND support - While this feature hasnt been perfected yet, LostIRC supports both receiving and sending of files using the DCC protocol.

cpptools 0.1.6

cpptools is a set of tools for C/C++ development. more>>
This project aims to create a toolbox for C/C++ development. Among them, we intend to deploy a lint, a code beautifier, some refactoring tools, and any other that may shrink a month long task into a key hit.
Cpptools is a set of tools for C/C++ development. It tries to simplify many common development tasks. It is intended to support code generation, code analysis, code refactoring and system documentation.
Main features:
- Cpptools is coded almost exclusively in Python. It is platform independent, running on any platform that supports Python.
- It uses Graphviz to render vectorial diagrams.
CppClassHierarchy parses source files and generates class hierarchy diagrams, showing inheritance relationships and some cases of template instantiations.
Syntax
CppClassHierarchy.py [-f format] [-o output] [sourcefiles ...]
-f Specifies output format. There are two valid formats: xml and dot). Default = dot.
-o Sets output filename. If -o is omitted, information will be sent to standard output.

Devel::FindGlobals 0.03

Devel::FindGlobals 0.03

Devel::FindGlobals is a Perl module to find global variables and their size. more>>
Devel::FindGlobals is a Perl module to find global variables and their size.

SYNOPSIS

use Devel::FindGlobals;
print print_globals_sizes();

This module just runs around and over the symbol table, finds global variables, gets their sizes with Devel::Size, and then prints them out.

find_globals() just finds the globals (and returns a hashref), and find_globals_sizes() returns the globals and the sizes in a hashref. print_globals_sizes() prints out that data in a pretty table.

find_globals() hashref is of the form $hash->{TYPE}{NAME}, where TYPE is SCALAR, ARRAY, HASH (types stored in @Devel::FindGlobals::TYPES).

find_globals_sizes() hashref is the same, except that the value of the record is not 1 but an arrayref of size and total_size (size is the size of the variable itself, and total_size counts up all the other members of the variable, for arrayrefs and hashrefs).

print_globals_sizes() accepts an OPTIONS hash. Currently recognized options are:

ignore_files

Ignore file globals (like $main::_
ignore_undef_scalars

Ignore scalars that exist, but are not defined. Default value is true.

exclude_match

An arrayref of strings to match; e.g., [^VERSION$, ^Debug]. Will not print variables matching any of the expressions.

include_match

Same as exclude_match, except for variables to exclusively include, instead of strings to exclude.

lexicals

A hashref of name = reference> for lexical variables to include in the report.

DM1 Threads Library 1.0.5

DM1 Threads Library 1.0.5

DM1 Threads Library is a portable threads library in C++. more>>
DM1 Thread Library is part of the DM1 project. This library was born out of my need to have a portable C++ Thread library that would be simple to use, and would provide all the necessary Threads functionality I required for the DM1 project.
Initially, this library was in C, but when I decided to re-write DM1 in C++, I ported the library to C++. During the port, I enhanced the functionality of the Threads library.
The DM1 Threads library aims to be small. It does not try to provide a comprehensive set of functionality, but only what is absolutely essential for a project like DM1. I had the simplicity of the Java Threads package in mind when creating this library.
The constructs provided by the DM1 Thread library are:
- Thread objects that represent Operating System threads.
- A Mutex is provided as a mechanism for Mutual Exclusion . Mutexes are used to ensure that a piece of code is executed by only one thread at any point in time.
- Events are provided as low-level mechanisms for thread synchronisation. Events can be waited for, and signalled to.
- A higher level object, that combines the functionality of an Event and a Mutex, is provided. This is the Monitor object. A Monitor can be locked exclusively, just like a Mutex, but it can also be made the object of a Wait operation. The signalling mechanism supports notification of one or more waiting threads.
- To enable more efficient locking when both shared and exclusive access to data is required, Latches are provided.
- Apart from the Thread synchronisation primitives described above, the library also provides a ThreadPool for the situation when it is inefficient to create a thread exclusively for a particular task, and it is desirable to share a pool of threads for executing multiple tasks.
Design Principles
The DM1 Threads library was designed with the following principles in mind:
1. Implement the bare minimum that is required. This Threads library does not aim to be a comprehensive threads package.
2. Avoid complex algorithms. If a particular construct is hard to implement correctly on all platforms, avoid it.
3. Document the library.
4. Avoid low level code, such as assembler code to implement Spin locks. Rely on the libraries provided by the Operating System.
5. Avoid holding Mutexes beyond function calls. A DM1 Thread library function will not hold any Mutex locks when it returns.
6. Avoid using clever C++ techniques wherever possible. (Unfortunately, some cleverness is required to implement the Thread class correctly).
7. Avoid dependency on external libraries. The DM1 library only requires the standard C library, apart from native Threads functionality.
8. Always report an error as soon as it is discovered.
9. Insert debug messages that can be switched on at run-time.
10. Do not throw exceptions from destructors because these might be executing as a result of an uncaught exception.
11. Never let an error go unreported.

FastVox 2.0 Alpha 1

FastVox 2.0 Alpha 1

FastVox project is a state of the art volume rendering API with outstanding image quality and acceleration features. more>>
FastVox project is a state of the art volume rendering API with outstanding image quality and acceleration features that take advantage of todays hardware. These features include GPU, SSE and hand-tuned assembly language optimizations, resulting in one of the fastest implementations available on the market.
FastVox is built on top of OpenGL, the leading industry standard for high performance 3D computer graphics. A new feature of the 2.0 engine are the GLSL-based pixel shaders which perform all volume rendering computations exclusively on the GPU.
A key-feature of FastVox is the clean and simple API. This API enables developers to quickly integrate FastVox into third-party applications.
In contrast to other volume renderers, FastVox also supports features specially suited for use in the medical field. Features like Multiplanar Reformation and Maximum Intensity Projection are supported and made readily accessible through its simple API.
Enhancements:
- This release features hardware-accelerated rendering plugins based on the OpenGL 2.0 GLSL shading language.
- The GPU acceleration is available for volume rendering, ISO surface rendering, maximum-intensity projection, and multiplanar reconstruction.
- In addition, the handling of transfer tables has been facilitated and enhanced to improve the rendering output.
