Ivman is an extremely flexible desktop independent frontend to HAL, the userspace Hardware Abstraction Layer for Linux (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linux).
Ivman can be used to execute arbitrary commands when devices are added to or removed from your system, or when device properties change. Any properties of the new or changed device can be included within the executed command.

EPIC4 is a new direction in ircII development. No longer is EPIC 100% backwards compatable with ircII, but instead we have chosen to find those things where compatability is undesirable, and fix them.
No gratuitous incompatabilities have been added, but lots of new code has been added to make EPIC the best ircII client we could make.
EPIC4 is derived directly from EPIC3, which was itself derived from IRC-II which is currently maintained by Matthew Green, and includes in whole all the additions included in the "plus" clients by Jeremy Nelson and all of the modifications in the "mod" clients by Jake Khuon.
EPIC is currently maintained by EPIC Software Labs (ESL), comprised of Jeremy Nelson, Jake Kuhon, Robert Chady, and a cast of a dozen others.
Main features:
- EPIC is completely safe: There are no hidden trap doors. We value your trust, and will not do anything to abuse it.
- EPIC is programmable: While ircII does contain a wide range of commands and functions, several glaring ommisions exist, which EPIC has attempted to fill, making the ircII language complete, precise, and efficient.
- EPIC supports bots: We do not agree with those who feel that script bots are all the evil of irc, and we feel that scripts bots must not be squelched by those who have the stranglehold of control on irc. EPIC will support bots for as long as we maintain it.

We, however, chose to provide both a "old" style (k&r) function header and a "new" style (ansi) function header with every function and provide every extern function a prototype in a header file.
- EPIC is getting smaller and faster. Changes are continually underway to provide a faster client with more functionality while using less CPU cycles. jPicEdt is a multi-platform vector-based graphic editor for LaTeX and related packages, including eepic and PsTricks.
The LaTeX picture environment is a special environment for inserting simple drawing commands into a LaTeX file.
This environment was obviously not intented to replace more sophisticated graphical formats such as Postscript or PDF (and their associated design tools: Adobe Illustrator, Macromedia Freehand,...), but was merely aimed at easily incorporating small and simple drawings (e.g. graphs, electrical schematics,...)
Yet picture commands are flexible enough to allow one to build rather complicated drawings, including circles, rectangles, lines and vectors, bezier splines.
Besides, using epic/eepic or PsTricks packages largely increases the set of available commands, and amongst other things, allows for shape-filling (and colours with PsTricks) and a better rendering of shapes.
Finally, one of the main benefits of using the picture environment is the ability to incorporate text containing any LaTeX command allowed in LR mode, e.g. equations, arrays or user-defined commands.
Main features:
- Every graphical element allowed by the picture environment commands: lines, arrows, circles, boxes.
- Emulated elements, for example lines of any slope (which LaTeX doesnt support natively), circles of any size, ellipses, arcs and polygons. This makes a strong use of the multiput command.

dvdauthor is a simple set of tools to help you author a DVD. more>>
dvdauthor is a simple set of tools to help you author a DVD. The idea is to be able to create menus, buttons, chapters, etc, but for now you can just take an mpeg stream (as created by mplex -f 8 from mjpegtools 1.6.0) and write it to DVD.
dvdauthor is a program that will generate a DVD movie from a valid mpeg2 stream that should play when you put it in a DVD player.
To start you need mpeg files that contain the necessary DVD VOB packets. These can be generated by passing -f 8 to mplex. See the included utility makevob.
There are 3 steps to building the DVD directory structure on your HDD.
1. Delete a previously authored dvd
dvddirdel [-o dir]
WARNING! This will delete without discrimination the contents of the directory that you specify!
2. Create your titlesets
dvdauthor [-o dir] [audio/video/subpicture options] [chapters]
To create 1 chapter per mpeg, simply do
dvdauthor [-o dir] [a/v/s options] chap1.mpg chap2.mpg chap3.mpg...
To manually specify chapters, use the --chapters option
dvdauthor [-o dir] [a/v/s options] -c chap1a.mpg chap1b.mpg -c chap2a.mpg chap2b.mpg ....
To add chapters every fifteen minutes, do
dvdauthor [-o dir] [a/v/s options] -c 0,15:00,30:00,45:00,1:00:00,1:15:00... longvideo.mpg
Call dvdauthor for each titleset you want to create. Note that due to the DVD standard, all audio, video, and subpicture options must be set once for the entire titleset; i.e. you cannot mix pal and ntsc video in the same titleset. For that you must generate separate titlesets.
Run dvdauthor -h to see the audio, video, and subpicture options. Note that dvdauthor can autodetect most parameters except the language.
3. Create the table of contents
dvdauthor -T [-o dir]
Viola! You now have a DVD directory structure that will probably work! You can now write this out to your DVD, mini-DVD (CD), or just play it from your HDD. To generate the UDF image to burn to DVD, use mkisofs from cdrtools-1.11a27 or later. Simply pass it the -dvd-video option.
BTW, if you have an old HDD that you use for generating dvd images, you can create /usr/local/etc/dvdauthor.conf or ~/.dvdauthorrc and add the line:
WORKDIR=foo
Then you wont need to specify -o to dvddirgen or dvdauthor. Alternatively, you could just set
WORKDIR=mydvd
to always have it create a DVD in the current working directory.
Enhancements:
- Support of VOBUs without audio or video has been added.
- Reading from file descriptors for VOBs, palette, and XML has been implemented.
- Support for really long subtitles and for full sized PTS/SCR has been added.
- Audio type detection logic has been improved.
- Runtime memory requirement has been substantially reduced.
- YUV handling in spuunmux and subgen has been fixed.
- SVCD subtitling has been fixed.
- NTSC 3:2 pulldown handling has been fixed.
- Handling of audio packets that have no PTS has been fixed.
- Many more minor bugs have been fixed and features have been added. Documentation has been improved.

No shields, no weapons, no bonus lives, just pure rockdodgin fun for your spare moments. VoR has ray-traced rocks, a free-scrolling screen, and "real" physics for your ship. Warning: this game is, if anything, harder than the original. It is intended to be a quickie game to kill a few spare moments here and there, not an epic space adventure.

pork is an ncurses-based AOL instant messenger client. It uses the OSCAR protocol (the one the windows client uses) to access AIM.
Pork features Perl scripting; an online help system; the ability to configure nearly all aspects of the programs look-and-feel; an alias system; and a powerful, fully-configurable key binding system. It supports being logged in with more than one screen name at the same time.
The default look-and-feel of the client is modeled after the ircII IRC client. Anyone comfortable using ircII (or any clients derived from it; e.g., epic, BitchX, etc.) will feel comfortable using pork.
Installation:
The `configure shell script attempts to guess correct values for various system-dependent variables used during compilation.
It uses those values to create a `Makefile in each directory of the package. It may also create one or more `.h files containing system-dependent definitions.
Finally, it creates a shell script `config.status that you can run in the future to recreate the current configuration, a file `config.cache that saves the results of its tests to speed up
reconfiguring, and a file `config.log containing compiler output (useful mainly for debugging `configure).
If you need to do unusual things to compile the package, please try to figure out how `configure could check whether to do them, and mail diffs or instructions to the address given in the `README so they can be considered for the next release.
If at some point `config.cache contains results you dont want to keep, you may remove or edit it.
The file `configure.in is used to create `configure by a program called `autoconf. You only need `configure.in if you want to change it or regenerate `configure using a newer version of `autoconf.

There is also a `make maintainer-clean target, but that is intended mainly for the packages developers. If you use it, you may have to get all sorts of other programs in order to regenerate files that came with the distribution.

History
Over a thousand years ago, the world was a peaceful but primitive place. Humans lived in tribal societies, rarely warred, and there were few dangerous animals and no monsters. Your kingdom, Perilar, was one of the safest, as it was protected by four great dragons of Air, Earth, Fire, and Water.
Where the Vampire King came from, nobody knows. He appeared in the far north and turned peaceful farmers into berserker raiders. After conquering the island kingdom of Oradon, he turned their druids to necromancy, raising armies of the dead to war on the next kingdom. Kingdom after kingdom fell, and in each, the people were slain and raised as undead warriors to assault the next kingdom.
As the army of the undead approached Perilar, the dragons closed the kingdom off with a magical seal. For a thousand years, the kingdom has been trapped inside, and none know the fate of the outside world.
In recent times, the seals have begun to fail. The Dragons have not been seen in centuries. Undead and monsters march in towards the castle of King Phalan and the village of Perilar, home to the last free people in the world. A great hero must do something about this, and you are determined to be that hero!

Overview
It is very common to want to do encoding transformations when reading or writing files, network connections, pipes etc. If Perl is configured to use the new perlio IO system then Encode provides a "layer" (see PerlIO) which can transform data as it is read or written.
Here is how the blind poet would modernise the encoding:

In addition, the new IO system can also be configured to read/write UTF-8 encoded characters (as noted above, this is efficient):

Either of the above forms of "layer" specifications can be made the default for a lexical scope with the use open ... pragma. See open.
Once a handle is open, its layers can be altered using binmode.
Without any such configuration, or if Perl itself is built using the systems own IO, then write operations assume that the file handle accepts only bytes and will die if a character larger than 255 is written to the handle. When reading, each octet from the handle becomes a byte-in-a-character. Note that this default is the same behaviour as bytes-only languages (including Perl before v5.6) would have, and is sufficient to handle native 8-bit encodings e.g. iso-8859-1, EBCDIC etc. and any legacy mechanisms for handling other encodings and binary data.
In other cases, it is the programs responsibility to transform characters into bytes using the API above before doing writes, and to transform the bytes read from a handle into characters before doing "character operations" (e.g. lc, /W+/, ...).
You can also use PerlIO to convert larger amounts of data you dont want to bring into memory. For example, to convert between ISO-8859-1 (Latin 1) and UTF-8 (or UTF-EBCDIC in EBCDIC machines):
