Enigma project is a puzzle game inspired by Oxyd on the Atari ST and RocknRoll on the Amiga. The object of the game is to find uncover pairs of identically colored Oxyd stones.
Simple? Yes. Easy? Certainly not! Hidden traps, vast mazes, laser beams, and, most of all, countless hairy puzzles usually block your direct way to the Oxyd stones... If you are new to Enigma, you may want to take a look at a few screenshots.
Main features:
- Completely free!
- More than 700 different levels.

The Software Enigma is a little application that imitates the original behaviour of the Enigma, a cryptographic device. more>>
The Software Enigma is a little application that imitates the original behaviour of the Enigma, a cryptographic device that was used in World War II by the Germans. The cipher mechanism was cracked by several different parties (polish, english, ...) in the 40s.
The enigma uses a symmetrical encryption algorithm based on 3 wheels that carry letters in a random order and a reflector wheel also carring letters in random order. A letter passes the 3 wheels, the reflector wheel and then passes the wheels reverse. after each letter the position of the wheels is changed according to the Enigma specifications, see the links below.
The Software Enigma was designed in order to demonstrate the techniques used to crack this mechanism in a coding competition in summer 2000. The Software Enigma can work with more than 3 wheels and can handle more than 26 different characters.
In general you can examine the code and learn to understand the algorithm used to imitate the original Enigma. You can also try to crack encrypted enigma messages by following the procedures that the crackers used in the 40s. You can also use the Software Enigma for encrypting private messages, if you want to rely on an old already cracked cipher mechanism. In any case it is fun playing with it...
Enhancements:
- Corrected historical information inside the docs.

Minimax 20060326 Beta

Minimax 20060326 Beta

Minimax is a Linux distribution which completely fit to an initrd image, because of this it can boot in every situation. more>>
Minimax is a Linux distribution which completely fit to an initrd image, because of this it can boot in every situation, which you can imagine.
It is ultra small (32 MB), but very power full. Minimax distribution contains 2.6 kernel with ALL modules and balanced set of console utils, no X server.
Main features:
- Very small, only 32 MB
- Very good hardware support, see kernel config.
- Fits to initrd, can boot on strange SCSI/SATA/USB disks
- Can be added to /boot partition very easy
- System runs from ramdisk
- Contains only console utils, no x server, see packages
- Modern architecture: kernel 2.6, udev with autosymlinks, module autoloading, based on Arch linux
- Based on uclibc and busybox
Some key software:
- Full 2.6.15 kernel with modules, with autodetection and udev. Takes about 60% of livecd size.
- Installer for Arch linux
- wifi drivers and utils: hostap,wlan-ng, madwifi, ndiswrapper...
- Grub as main bootloader
- Midnight Commander
- Links2 - text and graphic web browser
- FBI - an image viewer
- IRSSI - an irc client
- CenterICQ - an excelent client for icq,msn,jabber...
- Music on console - player with mp3,ogg and online streaming support
- Bash burn - an cd record console frontend
- Partimage - disk mirroring tool
Minimum requirements:
- 64 MB RAM (system needs 32 MB big ramdisk).
- An i386 or better processor.
- Hardware compatible with 2.6.15 kernel, for very old computers (486) is Damm small linux or Puppy linux better choice, becouse of 2.4 kernel
How was it made?
I take uclibc and busybox (software for embedded linux) and compile base system from scratch. I add initscripts from Arch linux, they are very easy to understand and modify. With some other software and modular kernel 2.6 I got system with about 70 MB. After compression with squashfs I got 30 MB big initrd image. Now it was easy to create an CD image.

mcrypt 2.6.5

mcrypt 2.6.5

mcrypt is a replacement for the old Unix crypt program which uses several block algorithms. more>>
mcrypt is intended to be a replacement of the old unix crypt under the GNU General Public License. Unix Crypt was a popular file encryption program in unix boxes. mcrypt was based on the enigma encryption algorithm but it was considerable trivialized.
Since this was not adequate, even for individual privacy needs, I decided to create a similar program using some modern block encryption algorithms. Mcrypt also has a compatibility mode with unix crypt(1) and with solaris des. It supports all the algorithms and modes found in libmcrypt and it is very extendable.
At the time writing this, it supports the algorithms: BLOWFISH, TWOFISH, DES, TripleDES, 3-WAY, SAFER, LOKI97, GOST, RC2, MARS, RIJNDAEL, SERPENT, CAST, ARCFOUR and WAKE.
Block algorithms are implemented in modes: CFB, CBC, CTR, ECB, OFB (8 bit and n bit, where n is the size of the algorithms block length). For a brief description of the algorithms and the modes look at the mcrypt manpage (this may be out of date). In mcrypt it is on the user to decide which algorithm he considers best for encrypting his data.
Since mcrypt 2.6.0, the OpenPGP (RFC2440) encrypted file format is supported.
Mcrypt should work fine in all unix systems. It may work (probably with changes) in other non-unix systems. Mcrypt 2.6.x can also been ported to Win32 using the Cygwin compiler
Enhancements:
- Added all of the patches on Sourceforge, plus those included by Red Hats Fedora Extras.

- Ability to generate a random new puzzle from the "fortune" command added.
- Enhanced "save" and "load" commands.
- Save will now allow you to save a simple text file containing the plain and cypher text.
- Save will now also allow you to save the current state of the system.
- Load will now check the input file and if it is a state file, state is restored; if it is a text file, it is assumed to be cyphertext and a new state is created.
- Ability to generate a puzzle from your own plaintext added.
