Elib 1.0

Elib 1.0

Elib is designed to be for Emacs lisp programs what libiberty.a is for C programs. more>>
Elib is designed to be for Emacs lisp programs what libiberty.a is for C programs: a collection of useful routines which dont have to be reinvented each time a new program is written.
It contains code for:
- container data structures (queues, stacks, AVL trees, etc)
- string handling functions missing in standard Emacs
- minibuffer handling functions missing in standard Emacs
- routines for handling lists of so-called cookies in a buffer.
Known bugs:
- The documentation could be better. It lacks an index, among other things.
- The stack-m and stack-f should probably both (provide stack). stack-m.el should maybe be renamed stack.el, and stack-f.el should maybe only be used while debugging. We are still thinking about this. Suggestions are welcome.
- The cookie package has a number of inconsistencies regarding handling of (point).

eL DAPo 1.18

eL DAPo 1.18

eL DAPo is a PHP-based LDAP client. more>>
eL DAPo is a PHP-based application for managing and querying LDAP servers. It can rename, modify, and delete LDAP entries, as well as modify, add, and delete attributes associated with an entry.
Search filters can be changed while a session is open, so users only have to bind with the LDAP server once.
eL DAPo also includes a configuration file to make it fit well to your current schema.
Enhancements:
- Fixed security bug where looking at index.phps source from the browser revealed the users password.
- Session code has been changed so that eL DAPo no longer relies on register_globals to be enabled.
- Fixed a intermittent bug where eL DAPo complains you have not selected a server or base dn.
- Set index.php to redirect to the login page if you have not logged in.
- Added a check to let the user know if they have not enabled the LDAP module for php.
- Code Cleanup

ics.el 0.4.1

ics.el 0.4.1

ics.el project is an Emacs mode for internet chess server interactions. more>>
ics.el project is an Emacs mode for internet chess server interactions.
ics.el is a comint based Emacs major mode for handling the text portion of communications with internet chess servers such as FICS and ICC.
It is written in Emacs-Lisp and works best in conjunction with a graphical interface such as Xboard.
It handles colour highlighting and "buttonisation" (making certain portions of text active so that, for example, you can challenge opponents with a single mouse click) as well as command recall and editing and automation of commands based on regexps seen in the ICS output, all highly customisable using Emacs lisp.
Enhancements:
- added a require for overlay. This is part of the fsf-compat XEmacs package.
- added escapes into "----" and "++++" parts of regexps since not escaping them broke XEmacs version.
- added test for XEmacs into function tracing devel option
- changed the connection mechanism slightly to use a different variable ics-interface-with-helper-args when CONNECTMETHOD in ics-servers-alist is non-nil. This allows a different xboard commandline to be used if there is a timestamp/timeseal program available, rather than the same commandline with telnet for the helper program (which doesnt work for me anymore under Mandrake Linux 8.0 - I get a connection closed right before the password is prompted for).
- updated the default ics-servers-alist variable for new IP addresses and the BCF server and chess.net
- Fixed wholist buttonisation regexp to recognise "&" between rating and handle.
- Several fixes by John Wiegley to prevent ics.el from breaking other comint based modes - ics.el now uses local hooks instead of polluting the global comint hooks.
- Added support for running the interface program (e.g. xboard) under gdb in the ics sessions. The variable ics-gdb-interface controls this.

speechd-el 2.0

speechd-el 2.0

speechd-el is an Emacs client to Speech Dispatcher, BrlTTY, and other alternative output devices. more>>
speechd-el is an Emacs client to Speech Dispatcher, BrlTTY, and other alternative output devices.
speechd-el provides a complex speech/Braille interface to Emacs, and is focused especially on (but not limited to) blind and visually impaired users.
It allows the user to work with Emacs without looking on the screen, using the speech and Braille output.
Enhancements:
- The output mechanism was modularized and redesigned to support multiple output devices.
- The most important impact of this change is BrlTTY support, which works in a way similar to how speech output works.
- This means that speechd-el can be used with both Speech Dispatcher and BrlTTY now.

Planner.el 3.41

Planner.el 3.41

Planner.el project is an Emacs organizer. more>>
Planner.el project is an Emacs organizer.

Planner.el is an organizer module for GNU Emacs and XEmacs. It tracks tasks, appointments, and notes in plain text files, which may be published via emacs-wiki.

planner.el is an Emacs module that gives me a summary view of my tasks, schedule, and notes inside Emacs (which incidentally has a nice graphical interface, too). Together with emacs-wiki.el, it lets me easily manage my website.

Another ultra-handy thing is M-x remember from remember.el, which pops up a buffer asking me what I want to remember and stores a note in my daily planner page. For example, this is one such note created by remember.el. A patch contributed by Thomas Gehrlein allows easy navigation of planner pages - simply select dates from M-x calendar.

Personally, I prefer this text-file-based system to Evolution or Korganizer. I remember dropping down to M-x grep to quickly search for something in my daily planner files. I can backup my data files in a .tar.gz. I can perform diffs and version control (although I havent gotten around to doing so yet!). I can even run it in conjunction with the Remembrance Agent.

dot-mode.el 1.11

dot-mode.el 1.11

dot-mode.el is a minor mode for GNU Emacs / XEmacs that emulates the . command in vi. more>>
dot-mode.el is a minor mode for GNU Emacs / XEmacs that emulates the . command in vi. The original version was written in 1995 by James Gillespie.
I took over maintenance in 2000 and did a much needed update to code portability and also added some nice features. Much of the code was re-written, but the original design was sound and remains intact. dot-mode.el project is distributed under the GNU General Public License.
Why was it written?
For those of you not in the know, the . command in vi simply repeats the last edit made. In my experience, this is/has been the biggest feature that vi users claim they just cant live without. After having developed this feature for emacs, Id have to say I agree with them.
dot-mode.el was written so that vi users no longer have an excuse for not switching to an emacs variant. Emacs is, of course, superior in every other way...
Main features:
- New keybinding C-. emulates . command in vi.
- Calls to extended commands (M-x some-command) are also captured.
- There is an "override" mode that allows you to record keystrokes that dont change the buffer.
- You can specify whether dot-mode remembers "undo" commands.
- dot-mode can either share a single command buffer between all windows with dot-mode on, or each window can have its own command buffer.
- You can copy the saved keystrokes into the keyboard macro.
- Works on GNU Emacs (including NT Emacs) and XEmacs.
Version restrictions:
- Certain interactive commands such as query-replace or query-replace-regexp are not recorded properly. There is no plan to fix this. You can still record a keyboard macro to capture these types of functions.
Enhancements:
- A bug where dot-mode would give an error if you used dot-mode-override to record a [right] and then tried to call dot-mode-execute was fixed.

GNU MIX Development Kit 1.2.3

GNU MIX Development Kit 1.2.3

GNU MIX Development Kit is a MIX computer emulator and development kit. more>>
GNU MIX Development Kit offers an emulation of MIX and MIXAL. The current version of MDK includes the following applications:
- mixasm A MIXAL compiler, which translates your source files into binary ones, executable by the MIX virtual machine.
- mixvm A MIX virtual machine which is able to run and debug compiled MIXAL programs, using a command line interface with readlines line editting capabilities.
- gmixvm A MIX virtual machine with a GTK+ GUI which allows you running and debugging your MIXAL programs through a nice graphical interface (see screenshots).
- mixguile A Guile interpreter with an embedded MIX virtual machine, manipulable through a library of Scheme functions.
- mixal-mode.el An Emacs major mode for MIXAL source files editing, providing syntax highlighting, documentation lookup and invocation of mixvm within Emacs.
- mixvm.el An elisp program which allows you to run mixvm within an Emacs GUD window, simultaneously viewing your MIXAL source file in another buffer.
Using the GNU MDK tools, youll be able to:
- write, compile and execute MIXAL programs,
- set breakpoints and run your programs step by step,
- set conditional breakpoints (register change, memory change, etc.),
- collect execution timing statistics,
- trace executed instructions,
- inspect and modify the MIX registers, flags and memory contents at any step,
- simulate MIX input-output devices using the standard output and your file system.
In addition, the MIX virtual machine simulators include an embedded Guile interpreter and, therefore, their functionality can be extended using Scheme.
Enhancements:
- The Gmixvm interface has been improved with respect to the external programs dialog and about box.
- Compilation warnings in PPC and 64-bit platforms were fixed.
- Minor bugs were fixed.

- On XEmacs, Use efc-xemacs-query-options, i.e., a GUI dialog box instead of a text dialog box, only if use-dialog-box is nonnil.
- Fixes bug in ProjectClasses to avoid duplicate entries of imports.
- Updated JDEEs Ant interface to force use of pipes to interact with external Ant process.
- Fixed regression that caused jde-help-class-member to issue a Lisp error.
- Fixed regression in jde-wiz-update-class-list command.
- Fixed regression that caused JDEbug to issue a Lisp error when launching an application.
- Thanks to Martin Schwamberger.
- Revise the following templates to conform to CheckStyle requirements:
- jde-gen-deep-clone-template
- jde-gen-to-string-method-template
- jde-gen-bean-template
- Thanks to Martin Schwamberger.
- Added the following code generation templates:
- jde-gen-exception
- Generates an exception class in the current buffer.
- jde-gen-exception-buffer
- Generates a buffer containing an exception class.
- jde-gen-hashcode-method
- Generates a hashcode method at point.
- jde-gen-equals-method
- Generates an equals method at point.
- jde-gen-tostring-method
- Generates a toString method that uses Apaches
- ToStringBuilder class.
- Thanks to Ole Arndt.
- Enhanced jde-run-option-classpath to allow you to specify that the JDEE should omit the classpath argument when running the class or application in the current buffer, regardless of the setting of jde-global-classpath.
- Fixed regression that caused the JDEE to switch projects during debugging when stepping into code that does not belong to the project being debugged.
- Updated regular expressions used by the JDEEs interface to jdb to accommodate non-English punctuation styles for numeric expressions in debugger messages, e.g.,
- 1.200 for a line number where the English would write 1,200.
- Thanks to Morten B. Isaksen.
- In previous releases, building javadoc caused all future uses of compilation mode to try to
- display the javadoc. This release fixes the problem.
- Thanks to David Evers.
- Updated the submit-problem-report command to include an XEmacs users init.el file.

Jedo Linux 1.0

Jedo Linux 1.0

Jedo Linux is a simple, clean Linux distribution that aims to provide a reliable distro for power users. more>>
Jedo Linux (pronounced jed-o), is a simple, clean Linux distribution that aims to provide a reliable distro for power users. Its best described as a cross between Linux From Scratch (LFS), Redhat and Gentoo.

Jedo Linux is a original distro (not built on any existing one), although it tends to lean towards LFS and feels a bit like Redhat when using it.

Source based distro allows rapid development, and makes it easy for users to tweak the distro to their liking. (most packages can also be installed from binaries)

Vanilla Kernel Jedo Linux runs a vanilla kernel, and this is updated regularly to the latest stable kernel.

Decent Support Life 3yr support life by default (may be adjusted depending on usage and versions avalible).

Release Cycle Aim to release a new version about once every 2 years, and release feature updates roughly every 6months for released versions. (of course security updates are released ASAP)

Desktop Distro Designed for use on desktops and laptops.

OSS All software included in the default install is Open Source (or Freedom Software) - including firmware. Some closed source software is in the repo, but it is clearly marked in the "nonfree" category. If you dont belive in using propietary software or kernel modules, none will be installed without you requesting it. Software that uses patented technology (eg: libdvdcss) is also in the "nonfree" category.

For expert users Its a distro for Linux power users - installer and config tools are all CLI and assumes you know all about partitioning, package management, etc.

New, but not bleeding Jedo Linux uses the latest stable technology - latest & greatest but not bleeding edge - because people like having their systems work as expected. Jedo Linux gives you good tools that work so you can get on with what you want to do without having to mess about fixing the OS.

Basicly, its a distro aimed at your LFS compiling, technically skilled Linux user who wants a distro that is simple to use and install - its not for your average Mum & Dad who just want to send email - that sort of user should look at something like Ubuntu. Neither is it a server distro as its not feature frozen - use something like Redhat EL/CentOS or Debian if you are after a feature distro with a long support life.
