Earth 0.2

Earth allows you to find files across a large network of machines and track disk usage in real time. more>>
Earth allows you to find files across a large network of machines and track disk usage in real time. The project consists of a daemon that indexes filesystems in real time and reports all the changes back to a central database.
This can then be queried through a simple, yet powerful, web interface. Think of it like Spotlight or Beagle but operating system independent with a central database for multiple machines.
Earth is initially focused on managing the explosion of data that occurs in digital visual effects work.
Enhancements:
- Many small usability improvements, several significant performance improvements for the Web application, reduced database size, code improvements, and a much improved command line interface to the Earth daemon.

Tales of Middle Earth 2.3.4

Tales of Middle Earth 2.3.4

Tales of Middle Earth is a tile-based dungeon crawler similar to Nethack, Rogue, and Angband. more>>
Tales of Middle Earth (ToME) is a fantasy adventure game, based on the works of J.R.R. Tolkien. It is a game that emphasizes intricate, challenging, and varied gameplay over graphics.
Hundreds of different monsters in randomly-generated, unpredictable dungeons will strive to slay you by various means, and you counter - if you survive - by developing the skills of your choice and wielding mighty artifacts.
ToMEs races from Hobbit to Troll and classes from Swordmaster to Summoner allow for many different playing styles and a replay value that extends through years.
The only game so realistic that your scrolls and spell books will burn if you trudge in lava (unless you have gained immunity from some armour), you will dry up rivers to cast mighty spells, strike at orcs with blades attuned to slay them specifically, summon armies from a simple totem, and even forge your own artifacts.
There is an entire community to help you with the game, and it is far from static - ToME is a developing game, always improving. And best of all, its free.
Enhancements:
- Fix window position saving on Mac OS
- Remove buggy trap of Stair Movement
- Fix typo in one monsters flags
- Fix word wrapping in character sheet

Did you ever thought of getting alerts on land disasters like earth quake, right on your desktop . eQuake is the solution for that.

eQuake alert is a handy add-on, which alerts you with the basic information (date, location, and magnitude) of each earthquake. By default your browser will shake proportional to the earthquake magnitude.

You can configure the alert methods and even you can limit the alerts by the earth quake magnitude.

The recent quakes menu provides a link to the detailed information of quake @ the USGS (US Geological Survey) website.

Perilar 0.4

Perilar 0.4

Perilar is a fast, simple computer role-playing game (CRPG), with an epic quest! more>>
Perilar is a simple, fast computer role-playing game (CRPG), with an epic quest! You will cross a vast monster-infested wilderness to the dungeons to recover ancient weapons and artifacts, then to the dragons lairs, then face the final challenge...

Version 0.4 is a beta release for designing the gameplay, and future versions will have additional art, music, and sound effects.

Save Game Warning: Savefiles from previous versions will not be compatible with later versions until 1.0. At that point, Ill make sure they are always forward-compatible, but it hampers rapid development until then. Sorry for the trouble, but at least youll get to see the new world features in each version!

History

Over a thousand years ago, the world was a peaceful but primitive place. Humans lived in tribal societies, rarely warred, and there were few dangerous animals and no monsters. Your kingdom, Perilar, was one of the safest, as it was protected by four great dragons of Air, Earth, Fire, and Water.

Where the Vampire King came from, nobody knows. He appeared in the far north and turned peaceful farmers into berserker raiders. After conquering the island kingdom of Oradon, he turned their druids to necromancy, raising armies of the dead to war on the next kingdom. Kingdom after kingdom fell, and in each, the people were slain and raised as undead warriors to assault the next kingdom.

As the army of the undead approached Perilar, the dragons closed the kingdom off with a magical seal. For a thousand years, the kingdom has been trapped inside, and none know the fate of the outside world.

In recent times, the seals have begun to fail. The Dragons have not been seen in centuries. Undead and monsters march in towards the castle of King Phalan and the village of Perilar, home to the last free people in the world. A great hero must do something about this, and you are determined to be that hero!

Algorithm::Permute 0.06

Algorithm::Permute 0.06

Algorithm::Permute is a Perl module with handy and fast permutation with object oriented interface. more>>
Algorithm::Permute is a Perl module with handy and fast permutation with object oriented interface.

SYNOPSIS

use Algorithm::Permute;

my $p = new Algorithm::Permute([a..d]);
while (@res = $p->next) {
print join(", ", @res), "n";
}

my @array = (1..9);
Algorithm::Permute::permute { print "@arrayn" } @array;

This handy module makes performing permutation in Perl easy and fast, although perhaps its algorithm is not the fastest on the earth. Currently it only supports permutation n of n objects.

No exported functions. This version is not backward compatible with the previous one, version 0.01. The old interface is no longer supported.

METHODS

new [@list]

Returns a permutor object for the given items.

next

Returns a list of the items in the next permutation. The order of the resulting permutation is the same as of the previous version of Algorithm::Permute.

peek

Returns the list of items which will be returned by next(), but doesnt advance the sequence. Could be useful if you wished to skip over just a few unwanted permutations.

reset

Resets the iterator to the start. May be used at any time, whether the entire set has been produced or not. Has no useful return value.

Marble 0.3

Marble 0.3

Marble is an early beta preview of the Marble Widget application which is targeted for KDE 4. more>>
Marble is an early beta preview of the Marble Widget application which is targeted for KDE 4.
You need to install both packages: "marble" and "marble-data" to run Marble.
Marble is a generic geographical map widget that is meant to be used by KDE4 applications. It shows the earth as a sphere but doesnt make use of any hardware acceleration (No OpenGL). So although it might look similar to professional applications like Google Earth or Nasa World Wind its rather meant to be a small light weight multi purpose widget. To improve speed I decided to compile the Kubuntu packages with SSE support (-msse).
Main features:
- Marble uses a minimal free dataset that can be used offline. Currently the total amount of data that is meant to be shipped is about 5 MB.
- Marble doesnt use OpenGL or 3D hardware acceleration. It just uses Arthur as a painting backend. Extending it later on to support OpenGL as well shouldnt be hard however I dont consider that the primary focus. Depending on your hardware and the maps being displayed framerate is approximately 5-20 fps.
- Marble uses vector as well as bitmap data: Currently it uses the very old MWDB II data combined with ETOPO 2, which I will update to current SRTM soon.
- Marble displays the world map as a 3D sphere, because its more fun to use and less subject to distortion (So with regard to that its just like NASA WorldWind, Earth3D and Google Earth)
- Marble should start up almost instantly. Currently it "cold" starts fully within 2-5 seconds. On each subsequent start it takes about one second.
- Uses KML-Import to display places (Google Earths open format to store placemarks)
- Cities Down to 12000 inhabitants that you can click on using the mouse. Highest Mountains of each continent. Automatic Placemark label placement.
- Different Map Themes, Layers
- Dynamic Coordinate Grid
- Measure Tool
- Basic Wikipedia integration

THREDDS project is developing middleware to bridge the gap between data providers and data users. more>>
THREDDS (short from Thematic Realtime Environmental Distributed Data Services) project is developing middleware to bridge the gap between data providers and data users. The goal is to simplify the discovery and use of scientific data and to allow scientific publications and educational materials to reference scientific data.

The mission of THREDDS is for students, educators and researchers to publish, contribute, find, and interact with data relating to the Earth system in a convenient, effective, and integrated fashion.

Just as the World Wide Web and digital library technologies have simplified the process of publishing and accessing multimedia documents, THREDDS is building infrastructure needed for publishing and accessing scientific data in a similarly convenient fashion.
