fairly fast packet filter 1.5.0

fairly fast packet filter 1.5.0

The fairly fast packet filter (FFPF) is an approach to network packet processing. more>>
The fairly fast packet filter (FFPF) is an approach to network packet processing that adds many new features to existing filtering solutions like BPF.
fairly fast packet filter is designed for high speed by pushing computationally intensive tasks to the kernel or even network processors and by minimising packet copying.
By providing both access to richer programming languages and explicit extensibility, it is also considerably more flexible than existing approaches.
FFPF provides a complete solution for network monitoring that caters to all applications available today. Exploiting its extensibility, the language can even be used as a meta-filter to `script together filters from other approaches, such as BPF.
Main features:
- fast: processes significantly more packets per second than LSF (reference)
- scalable: transparently supports hardware assist, like that given by the Intel IXP2x00 network processors
- backward compatible: supports all existing libpcap based applications
- extensible: separates functionality from the framework. FFPF currently ships with implementations of BPF, Aho Corasick, Boyer Moore Horspool, and many more
- modular: new functions can be written in as little as 3 lines of code
- secure: relies on Keynote for authentication and resource control
- open and standard adherent: licensed under the GNU General Public License (GPL). It implements the Monitoring API (MAPI) draft as designed by the EU-SCAMPI consortium
Enhancements:
- enabled kernelspace processing
- enabled all 5 buffer implementations (Continuous, Fixed-size slot, Variable sized slot, Double ring and Index)
- added TCP stream reassembly and early implementation of zero-copy reassembly
- added PCAP input and output support, for userspace testing and offline use
- added additional minor functions: TCP Synprotect, output to files, ...
- added support for UDEV
- extended controlplane: flowspaces can now be queried for live state
- fixed up many bugs, hacks and irregularities.

PHP Generic Access Control List 3.3.7

PHP Generic Access Control List 3.3.7

PHP Generic Access Control List is a generic Access Control List class for PHP. more>>
PHP Generic Access Control List is a PHP class that offers Web developers a simple, yet immensely powerful "drop in" permission system for their current Web-based applications.
Main features:
- Split into two classes, and a seperate administration interface.
1. GACL class: Designed to be very small (517 lines of code including comments) and very fast, this class strictly takes care of the permission checks.
2. GACL_API class: Designed to be robust and flexible, this class takes care of creating/editing/deleting objects, groups and ACLs.
3. phpGACL Administration Interface: A set of scripts that allow for the easy administration of the entire GACL universe using only your browser.
- NOT limited to typical "read/write/execute" permissions similar to some flavours of *nix
- User definable "Access Control Objects" (ACO). These are objects which control what access is available to "requesters" (see below).
- Several examples:
- Enable - Projects
- View - Projects, View Own - Projects
- Edit - Projects, Edit Own - Projects
- Delete - Projects, Delete Own - Projects, UnDelete - Projects, UnDelete Own - Projects
- Add - Projects
- System down for Maintenance
- View - The letter "e" ;)
- User definable "Access Request Objects" (ARO). These are objects which request access from an "Access Control Object" (above) examples would be:
- Users/Accounts
- IP Addresses
- Browsers/Browser capabilities (JS/Flash/DHTML)
- User definable "Access eXtension Objects" (AXO). These are objects which extend permissions to a 3rd layer, optionally allowing you to set fine grained permissions on each individual item in your application, or even row in your database. AXOs are often used in cases where you only want to give a user access to a specific project or contact.
- Several examples:
- Projects - Project ID: 3474 (Accounting Software)
- Projects - Project ID: 3484 (Financial Software)
- Contacts - Contact ID: 4775 John Doe
- Contacts - Contact ID: 4795 John Doe
- Tree based ARO/AXO Object grouping with inheritance.
- Contains functionality to easily program add-ons. Examples would be for product pricing, or quantity limitations.
- One function application integration: acl_check()
- Simply pass this function four parameters, it doesnt get any easier!
- Supports the most popular databases using the ADODB database abstraction layer. (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, MSSQL)
- Complete web based administration interface.
- Scalable. A real-world working version with many added layers of complexity supports over 60,000 Accounts, 200 Groups and 300 ACOs.
Requierments:
- PHP 4.x or greater
- SQL database. (MySQL 3x/4.0.15+, PostgreSQL 7.2+, Oracle 9i+, MS-SQL 2000+)
Enhancements:
- This release contains several minor bugfixes and a fix for a major bug with del_object(), which caused transactions to abort prematurely.
- It also contains a slightly improved installer with Informix support, less possibility of conflicting code with other applications, and upgraded ADODB and Smarty packages.

Repairlix 20000924 (Nail)

Repairlix 20000924 (Nail)

Repairlix is a networked Linux distribution/bootable system intended to fit in 12MB of media. more>>
Repairlix is a networked Linux distribution/bootable system intended to fit in 12MB of media - so small that an image can be burned onto a business-card-sized shaped CDROM, suitable for your wallet. It has a suite of utilities for doing system recovery.

Repairlix is now in the early stages of being useful. These early releases contain only enough logic to produce a bootable x86 ISO image, with perhaps some useful applications.

No testing has been made to verify that any of this works on other architectures, although it should be highly portable to any system that supports the El Torito bootable spec.

(Note: This only applies to the sources. I only have access to x86 architectures, so that will be the only platform for which I can build the ISO images I distribute. Therefore, these will be useless on other architectures.)

Tonic Chess bridge4

Tonic Chess bridge4

Tonic Chess project is an online chess software. more>>
Tonic Chess project is an online chess software.

Tonic is a graphical interface for playing online chess. It is based on Jin.

From now on Tonic is really open source software (and free as in libre as well) - I managed (I had some problems last time I tried) to import source to cvs sourceforge repository. It is a bridge2 release source with few little modifications. You can read how to get it from cvs here. If you are impatient pastenenter in console:

cvs -d:pserver:anonymous@tonic-chess.cvs.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/tonic-chess login

When prompted for password just hit enter. And then:

cvs -z3 -d:pserver:anonymous@tonic-chess.cvs.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/tonic-chess co -P tonic

You should see a list of files downloaded from cvs repository. If you are a non-console user (i.e. Windows or Mac user) I recommend visiting this site. I myself use Linux for development. And Netbeans sometimes as you could figure out from examining the contents of tonic directory. So, enjoy the opensourceness of Tonic!

I uploaded new screenshot to Tonic project site. It is Tonic in Aero GTK engine tuxedo. Quite a peculiar engine imo, but you can use other GTK engines if you run Tonic in Java 6 aka Mustang (you know you can get it from here, dont you?) I test Tonic with Mustang and Ive problems with tray icon. After some searching Ive realized why Tonic crashed under Java 6 - the problem was tray.jar plugin and its dependencies - tray.so or tray.dll, so if you want to run Tonic on Java 6 move them away from theirs directory. Ive written a class for tray icon using new desktop API from Mustang, but it doesnt work as expected in KDE (tray icon is invisible) ; GNOME is better, but I have to work on the popup menu. Well, what could I say? Mustang is in beta stage, but it has some goodies to wait for (early splashscreen, access to tab component, ...).
