DVD-Baker 0.7.43

DVD-Baker 0.7.43

DVD-Baker is a small suite of programmes designed to turn your image collection into a DVD. more>>
DVD-Baker project is a small suite of programmes designed that can turn your image collection into a DVD.
Your image collection can be stored in a web gallery such as Menalto Gallery G2.
Formerly known as gallery2-to-dvd, DVD-Baker has evolved from a brute-force (hack) bash script to a php/bash combination that allows you to bake your DVD on a computer other than your webserver.
Main features:
- Menu system based on the root and branch albums/folders
- Slideshows made from the images in each leaf album using dvd-slideshow
- An albums highlight is embedded in its corresponding menu
- Subtitles for each image (switchable)
- Customisable image durations and transition effects
- Autoplay after menu timeout plays each slideshow sequentially
- Random autoplay (optional) if using dvdauthor 0.6.12
- Options menu (optional) for toggling subtitles, autoplay and repeat modes
- Either NTSC or PAL video formats
- DVD-compliant MPEG movies can be included
- High or low quality modes
How DVD-Baker works
Its as simple as RECIPE => BAKE => BURN !!!
1. Prepare the recipe:
For Menalto Gallery G2:
g2-dvd-recipe.php needs to be placed in the base directory of your G2 site.
2. Baking the ingredients:
Running dvd-baker will produce all the slideshows and menus as specified by the recipe.
A file called dvdauthor.xml will be produced describing all those menus and slideshows, and how they work together.
3. Burning the DVD:
If you didnt specify the -d option for dvd-baker, then:
$ dvdauthor -x dvdauthor.xml
To burn the dvd, use your preferred burning application to create a DVD-Video from the resultant ./DVD directory.
Enhancements:
- A few important features have been added.
- The most requested may be the ability to specify the gallery album to bake (rather than the users root album), and the ability to specify an album to use to create a DVD leader (a title played before the root menu is shown).
- Also included is an optional Options Menu System, which can be accessed by pressing the SUBTITLE button (or F3 in gxine) to toggle options such as SUBTITLES, AUTOPLAY, and REPEAT during playback.
- Minor cleanups and bugfixes are included.

MEPIS KDE 4 Beta 1 Live DVD

MEPIS KDE 4 Beta 1 Live DVD

SimplyMEPIS is a ready to go desktop operating system for PCs and Apple computers that have Intel or AMD 32 or 64 bit processors more>>
SimplyMEPIS is a ready to go desktop operating system for PCs and Apple computers that have Intel or AMD 32 or 64 bit processors. SimplyMEPIS project is easier than Windows Vista and intuitive for Windows XP and Windows 98 users. MEPIS includes all of the applications that most users need and want. SimplyMEPIS is designed to replace or work side by side with Vista or XP on PCs. MEPIS offers Apple users an opportunity to have it all: OSX, MEPIS 32 and/or 64, and if necessary Windows running in a virtual machine sandbox.

Warren Woodford of MEPIS has built KDE 4 Beta 1 live DVDs to verify the compatibility of KDE 4 with SimplyMEPIS 7.x. Both 32-bit and 64-bit editions are available. They are about 1 GB each and include all of the KDE 4 applications that are working at this time. KDE 4 Beta 1 is a very early release and is meant for developers, testers, and reviewers. The live DVDs were built using a MEPIS 7.0 Etch core and include the usual MEPIS kernel and hardware compatibility features. Since KDE 4 is functionally different than KDE 3 and also in an early beta state, a minimal KDE 3 installation remains on the disk to facilitate exploration by the user.

vdbmaster 1.0

vdbmaster 1.0

vdbmaster is a simple program that its meant to easy the process of burning movies to a DVD. more>>
vdbmaster is a simple program that its meant to easy the process of burning movies to a DVD.

It uses growisofs to write the disc, and the VideoDB database for selecting the movies to write and keeping records of where your movies are stored.

Once the DVD has been written, vdbmaster updates the movies in VideoDB with the name of the disc where they have been burnt.

Then, it asks whether you want to remove the original files from your hard drive. It correctly handles movies spanning more than one file, as well subtitle files, as long as the movie filename (without the extension) is the same. The code is clean, small, and easily customizable.

DVD-Vault 4.100

DVD-Vault 4.100

DVD-Vault provides an achive software to manage DVD jukeboxes (SCSI medium changers). more>>
DVD-Vault provides an achive software to manage DVD jukeboxes (SCSI medium changers).
DVD-Vault is an implementation of a filesystem archive that makes a DVD SCSI library with multiple pieces of DVD-R or DVD-RAM media look like a single large file system.
A library with 1000 pieces of 4.7Gbyte media can be addressed as a 4700GByte file system with SCSI-robotic mounting and unmounting of media as required.
Users of UniTree (HPSS), AMASS, METIOR, and MagnaVault may recognize how this program works.
It has been tested with an ASACA 250 and 1450 and the Sony/Kubota 64-slot PD (blu-ray) library.
Enhancements:
- Binary and source code have been broken apart into two different files.
- DMAPI code now "punches" holes in files, rather than truncating the files. This makes file sizes transparent, which is really helpful for Windows clients.
- disk_scrub has been implemented to reclaim optical disk space when files are deleted.
- The MCLIB routines have support for Qualstar tape libraries.
- Batch_migration is in the binary RPM to support WORM media (BD-R, DVD+R).
- Tape stage support is in the stage program
- Purge is replaced with purgefile to support the new DMAPI code.

dvdbackup 0.1.1

dvdbackup 0.1.1

dvdbackup you can do a 1:1 copy of a DVD-video. more>>
dvdbackup you can do a 1:1 copy of a DVD-video.

Installation

Download dvdbackup version 0.1 - you will also need libdvdread version 0.9.3 or later.

Compile dvdbackup.c in the src dir like this gcc -o dvdbackup
-I/my/prefix/to/libdvdread/include -L/my/prefix/to/libdvdread/lib
-ldvdread dvdbackup.c

NOTE: The "" indicates that its one line - i.e. remove the "" from the command
line

Usage:

If your backup directory is /my/dvd/backup/dir/ specified with the "-o" flag. Then dvdbackup will create a DVD-Video structure under /my/dvd/backup/dir/TITLE_NAME/VIDEO_TS.

Since the title is "uniq" you can use the same dir for all your DVD backups. If it happens to have a generic title dvdbackup will exit with a return value of 2. And you will need to specify a title name with the -n switch.

dvdbackup will always mimic the original DVD-Video structure. Hence if you e.g. use the -M (mirror) you will get an exact duplicate of the original. This means that every file will be have the same size as the original one. Like wise goes also for the -F and the -T switch.

However the -t and (-t -s/-e) switch is a bit different the titles sectors will be written to the original file but not at the same offset as the original one since they may be gaps in the cell structure that we dont fill.

To backup the whole DVD

dvdbackup -M -i/dev/dvd -o/my/dvd/backup/dir/

This action creates a valid DVD-Video structure that can be burned to a DVD-/+R(W) with help of mkisofs version 1.11a27 or later

To backup the main feature of the DVD

dvdbackup -F -i/dev/dvd -o/my/dvd/backup/dir/

This action creates a valid DVD-Video structure of the feature title set
dvdbackup defaults to get the 16:9 version of the main feature if a 4:3 is also present on the DVD. To get the 4:3 version use -a 0.

dvdbackup makes it best to make a inteligent guess what is the main feature of the DVD - in case it fails please send a bug report.

To backup a title set

dvdbackup -T 2 -i/dev/dvd -o/my/dvd/backup/dir/

where "-T 2" specifies that you want to backup title set 2 i.e. all VTS_02_X.XXX files.

This action creates a valid DVD-Video structure of the specified title set

To backup a title

dvdbackup -t 1 -i/dev/dvd -o/my/dvd/backup/dir

This action backups all cells that forms the specified title. Note that there can be sector gaps in between one cell and an other. dvdbackup will backup all sectors that belongs to the title but will skip sectors that arent a part of the title.

To backup a specific chapter or chapters from a title

dvdbackup -t 1 -s 20 -e 25 -i/dev/dvd -o/my/dvd/backup/dir

This action will backup chapter 20 to 25 in title 1, as with the backup of a title there can be sector gaps between one chapter (cell) and on other.dvdbackup will backup all sectors that belongs to the title 1 chapter 20 to 25 but will skip sectors that arent a part of the title 1 chapter 20 to 25.

To backup a single chapter e.g. chapter 20 do -s 20 -e 20
To backup from chapter 20 to the end chapter use only -s 20
To backup to chapter 20 from the first chapter use only -e 20

You can skip the -t switch and let the program guess the title although its not recomened.

If you specify a chapter that his higher than the last chapter of the title dvdbackup will turncate to the highest chapter of the title.

Return values

0 on success
1 on usage error
2 on title name error
-1 on failur

Todo - i.e. whats on the agenda

Make the main feature guessing algoritm better. Not that it doesnt do its job, but its implementation its that great. I would also like to preserve more information about the main feature since that would let me preform better implementations in other functions that depends on the titles_info_t and title_set_info_t strcutures.
Make it possible to extract cells in a title not just chapters (very easy so it will definitly be in the next version).

Make a split mirror (-S) option that divides a DVD-9 to two valid DVD-5 video structures. This is not a trivial hack and its my main goal the next month or so. It involves writing ifoedit and vobedit libraries in order to be able to manipulate both the IFO structures and the VOB files. Out of this will most probably also come tscreate and vtscreate which will enable you to make a very simple DVD-Video from MPEG-1/2 source.

cpdvd 1.10

cpdvd is a tool to transfer a DVD title to your harddisk with ease on Linux. more>>
cpdvd is a tool to transfer a DVD title to your harddisk with ease on Linux.

This tool copies all required files for a movie title from a DVD on your harddisk for further processing with libdvdreads image mode (e.g. transcode). It automatically selects the title with longest duration - but you can also pick a specific one.

The tool determines the correct title set (VTS-VOB files) for the selected title, clones the navigation information (IFO files) and extracts (decodes) the data into new video object streams.

Installation:

Unzip the file and place it in your bin path. Make sure you have installed Perl! You need at least transcode version 0.6.0pre4 and of course cpvts.

Usage:

You simply give a target directory (will be created automatically) insert a DVD and thats all:

cpdvd MyMovie

You can then run transcode with the dvd import module (-x dvd) on this directory:

transcode -i MyMovie -x dvd ...

If your DVD device is not /dev/dvd or the DVD mount point is not /dvd then you must specify the following options:

cpdvd -d /dev/mydvddevice -m /my/dvd/mointpoint MyMovie

or set the DVD_MOUNT and DVD_DEV environment variables.

If you want to copy another title or the main title guess was wrong then you can pick a title with the -t option:

cpdvd -t 2 MyMovie

With the -i option you will receive information on all titles of a disc and the guess which title is the main title:

cpdvd -i
