ROMBrowser 0.3

ROMBrowser 0.3

ROMBrowser project is a tool for organizing emulator ROMs. more>>
ROMBrowser project is a tool for organizing emulator ROMs.
It will identify rom files by their CRC, give information about their characteristics (game title, parent rom, etc), and organize those ROMs with different filters.
If you like to play with emulation and emulators, you know the pain of keeping track of your thousands of ROM files, not to mention figuring out what it is youve just downloaded. Thats what ROMBrowser is for. Eventually I hope to have a system that works somewhat like romcenter, but is java based and GPLd.
I also am planning on developing a schema for storing meta-data related to ROM files. There are currently several databases out there that have information about ROM files, usually keyed by the files CRC32. Part of the ROMBrowser project will be to develop an open standard for that kind of data (probably an XML DTD) and a plan for the distributed classification of ROM files, so users can classify unknown ROMs and distribute that information.
Enhancements:
- Added Super Nintendo rom handler for SMC files. It doesnt handle interleaved files yet.
- Separated out datafiles from main distribution, added credits tag to xml database, to give credit to the rom database maintainers (just using conversions of cowerings goodtools for now).
- Changed rom info viewer to table view. Added ability to modify rom data, changes will be saved in knownfiles.xml
- Changed how file searching works, now only files that have romhandlers (nes and smc currently) get processed, all others are ignored.
- Made file converter work better for converting romcenter dat files (use net.sourceforge.rombrowser.util.ROMDatabaseFileConverter
- Deleting specific roms from the treeview will remove them from knownfiles, and will also delete them from the filesystem if delete-on-remove is true.
- Deleting folders from the treeview will still not remove their child entries from knowfiles or delete the foders or their children.
- Changed the way rominfo files are handled, now if the datafile property has colons in it, it will treat it as a list of datafiles, eg: "goodnes.xml.gz:goodsnes.xml.gz" would look for both goodnes and goodsnes in the rombrowser home folder

The Romalizer 0.61

The Romalizer 0.61

The Romalizer project is a Tcl script to analyze your MAME roms and report errors. more>>
The Romalizer project is a Tcl script to analyze your MAME roms and report errors.
The ROMalizer is a Tcl script that examines your .zip files for MAME ROMs and lets you know if you have any extra data in them. It can also report incorrect filenames, CRCs, etc.
Enhancements:
- romalizer will no longer move the zipfiles it has fixed into your roms directory unless you specify the -M option. This will allow you to run romalizer as a normal user on a roms filesystem that is only writable by root or some other games administrator. If you use the -M option, romalzier will back up your old roms into the working directory as usual, if the -M option is not used, the new (fixed) roms will be located in the working directory.
- romalizer now fully supports two new styles of merging your roms. You may now use the -g or -G options to tell romalizer to use one of these new merging formats. When -g is used, romalizer will merge all clones into a single zip file. When -G is used, romalizer will create clone zip files that are capable of being run independantly of the parent romset. I have tested these new merging features on my pacman romset and it works beautifully, however more testing probably needs to be done on a complete romset for these options.
- neogeo games are now supported, romalizer will just ignore any CRC that matches 354029fc (ng-sfix.rom), 9036d879 (neo-geo.rom), and 97cf998b (ng-sm1.rom). Thus neogeo roms are now fully supported except for these 3 which should be placed in a file called neogeo.zip.
- romalizer requires usage of UnZip version 5.41 or higher due to a Y2K bug in UnZip. This patch will now check your unzip version and abort if you do not have a recent version of UnZip.

Lefromoma 0.3

Lefromoma 0.3

Lefromoma is a simple mame frontend written in python focused on cabinets. more>>
Lefromoma is a simple mame frontend written in python focused on cabinets.

Features: fullscreen, snapshots, roms-, favorites-list (alphabetical) & ignore list, scaling of a game. All text in game names between () is stripped in the favorites list (revision/version numbers etc), it makes the list prettier. There are 3 wav-files included, a "start up" sound, a "start game" sound and a button sound.

The script creates 4 new directories in your rom directory: complete, favorites, ignore and scaling. They are filled with symlinks (this doesnt take up much space, dont worry). When you add a game to the favorites the symlink from the complete dir is moved to the favorites and visa versa.

If you move a game to the ignore directory (that is, the symlink will be moved there), you will have to remove it yourself again. (might change in the future). You can change the scaling of the game in the frontend. The scaling dir is used to write the default scaling for a game (gamerom_2 or gamerom_1)

Lefromoma is developed and tested on Fedora Core 5, other GNU/linux distro should work too (other distros not tested though).

Deepest Sender 0.8.0

Deepest Sender is a client that will allow you to post to blogs from directly within Firefox. more>>
Deepest Sender is a client that will allow you to post to blogs from directly within Firefox. The project is primarily a LiveJournal client, although it supports Blogger (GData) and WordPress (metaWeblog) too, with support for more stuff to come.

Note that the actual Deepest Sender website will always have the most up to date version.

If DS wont load for you in Firefox 2, and youre using a non-US English version (ie. British English or whatever), you will need to download a spellcheck dictionary in order for it to work. Non US English builds dont come with dictionaries.

If DS keeps loading in Russian and youre running SeaMonkey, check the LiveJournal group, it has a guide to solving the problem.

AdvanceSCAN 1.13

AdvanceSCAN 1.13

AdvanceSCAN project is a commandline ROM manager for emulators. more>>
AdvanceSCAN project is a commandline ROM manager for emulators.
AdvanceSCAN is a command line ROM manager for MAME, MESS, AdvanceMAME, AdvanceMESS, and Raine for Unix, DOS, and Windows.
Main features:
- Directly read, write zip archives without decompressing and recompressing them for the best performance.
- Add, copy, move and rename files in the zip archives. Any rom that you have is placed automatically in the correct zip.
- Recognize the text files added by rom sites and delete them.
- Recognize the text files added by the rom dumpers and keep or delete them.
- Its safe. On all the zip operations any file removed or overwritten is saved in the `rom_unknown `sample_unknown directories and kept for future uses. This will prevent any unwanted remove operation.
- Generate differential rom sets.
Enhancements:
- New rom zips are now created only if at least one unique rom is found. Roms shared with other games dont trigger the zip creation. For example, galaga88
- and pacmania share the rom ns1-mcu.bin. This functionality prevents the creation of the galaga88 zip from a correct copy of pacmania using only the
- ns1-mcu.bin file.
- Relaxed a consistency check for the local header in zip files. The crc and size entries are allowed to contain the real value also if a data descriptor is present.

Jhead 2.7

Jhead 2.7

Jhead is a command line driven Exif header parser and manipulator. more>>
Jhead is a command line driven utility for extracting digital camera settings from the Exif format files used by many digital cameras. It handles the various confusing ways these can be expressed, and displays them as F-stop, shutter speed, etc.
Jhead project is also able to reduce the size of digital camera JPEGs without loss of information, by deleting integral thumbnails that digital cameras put into the Exif header. If you need to add Exif support to a program, this is a simple program to cut and paste from. Many projects, including PHP, have reused code from this utility.
Things jhead can extract from an Exif jpeg file:
- Integral low-res Exif thumbnail
- Shutter speed
- Camera F-stop number
- Flash used (yes/no)
- Distance camera was focused at
- Focal length and calculate 35 mm equivalent focal length
- Image resolution
- Time and date picture was taken
- Camera make and model
Things jhead can modify in an exif jpeg file:
- Up-right images according to rotation tag using jpegtran
- Set or relative adjust internal exif timestamps
- Re-name or date stamp fils according to exif timestamp
- Transfer exif headers between images
- Edit jpeg comments
- Delete exif or comment sections from jpeg images
Enhancements:
- The "-mkexif" option to create a new minimal EXIF section in an existing image was added.
- The "-ds" and "-dsft" options to manipulate the EXIF date and time were added.
- Image and thumbnail rotation flag handling was fixed.

Sync4j 2.3

Sync4j 2.3

Sync4j is a mobile application server and more. more>>
Sync4j is a mobile application server, and more. Sync4j includes a suite of tools to develop, deploy and manage any mobile project. It is a certified implementation of the Open Mobile Alliance Data Synchronization and Device Management protocols (OMA DS and DM, formerly known as SyncML).
Sync4j reached more than 19,000 downloads in a single month and it is supported by one of the largest mobile developers community in the world.
Main features:
- Sync4j Server: a mobile application server with connectors to SQL relational databases, Microsoft Exchange, Lotus Domino and SugarCRM.
- Sync4j Clients: applications for Outlook, Windows Mobile PocketPC, BlackBerry, Palm and iPod that you can use to synchronize your PIM data (address book and calendar) with the server
- Sync4j Email Gateway: a POP, IMAP and SMTP gateway, to support your mobile email needs.
- Sync4j Software Development Kit: tools to develop sometimes-connected mobile applications on devices (in Java - J2SE and J2ME - and C++) and to add data sources to the server
- Sync4j Device Management: an OMA DM server to remotely manage mobile devices
A wireless application needs data. The information must be available even when the device is off-line. Synchronization between multiple mobile devices and corporate servers is a fundamental component in every wireless project: data is supposed to be consistent when accessed by multiple users who are not always connected to the network.
Once a wireless application is developed, it needs to be transferred to a remote device, over-the-air. Then, it must be kept up-to-date. Application provisioning is pivotal for the success of any mobile project.
Developers of applications around the world have been looking for a platform that would make it easier to create mobile applications. IT Managers are struggling with PIM synchronization and mobile email deployments, locked by commercial vendors on a spiraling high cost structure and unable to manage a fast growing fleet of mobile devices. Sync4j is the solution they are looking for.
Open source means freedom from vendor lock-in and high quality software (thousand of eyes on the code, an enourmous community effort for testing). Sync4j is well supported by the community and the company behind it, Funambol.
Sync4j is an open source complete and unique mobile application server, addressing all the aspects of the equation:
- data synchronization, including PIM and email
- application provisioning
- device management
Sync4j is multi-device and multi-platform, running both in Windows and Linux. It runs on Tomcat and on top of J2EE application servers. It has been designed for carrier-grade deployments.
Since day one, scalability and reliability have been a clear focus of the Sync4j architecture, Sync4j is built on the Open Mobile Alliance data synchronization and device management standards (OMA DS and DM, formerly known as SyncML), thus leveraging the availability of SyncML clients pre-installed on cellular phones (such as all Symbian, Nokia, Motorola, Sony Ericsson, Siemens and others). For devices where a SyncML client is missing, Sync4j provides its own clients: Outlook, Windows Mobile PocketPC, BlackBerry, Palm and iPod.
Sync4j target market is everyone looking to build, deploy and manage a mobile project:
- Developers who need to extend an existing product to the mobile world or are looking for an easy way to create new mobile applications, grabbing data from existing data sources (such as SQL databases, Exchange, Domino or SugarCRM) or adding new data sources.
- IT Managers that want to deploy a PIM and mobile email solution or just need a way to manage a fleet of mobile devices.
- Device Manufacturers, that are looking for an OMA DM or DS client.
Download includes:
Apache Tomcat 5.0, Sync4j Admin 1.2.4, Sync4j Java GUI Client 1.0.9, PIM Web Demo 1.1.7. Runs out-of-the-box.
Enhancements:
- Major bugfixes

Stella 2.4

Stella 2.4

Stella is a multi-platform Atari 2600 VCS emulator released under the GNU General Public License (GPL). more>>
Stella is a multi-platform Atari 2600 VCS emulator.
Stella was originally developed for Linux by Bradford W. Mott, however, since its original release several people have joined the development team to port Stella to other operating systems such as AcornOS, AmigaOS, DOS, FreeBSD, IRIX, Linux, OS/2, MacOS, Unix, and Windows. The development team is working hard to perfect the emulator and we hope you enjoy our effort.
On this site youll find information about downloading, installing, using, and enhancing Stella. Youll also find useful information about the Atari 2600 and emulation.
Enhancements:
Added new video sub-system where fullscreen and windowed modes are treated
differently. Windowed modes now use -zoom_tia and -zoom_ui arguments,
while fullscreen modes can be specified by resolution using the new
-fullres argument.
- Widescreen video modes are now supported; Stella will simply center the
image with surrounding black borders.
- Many UI-related changes, including resizable ROM launcher and debugger
windows, and a new UI palette (the previous classic palette is still
available). This is still a work in progress.
- The locations of all major config files (statedir, palette file,
cheat file, properties file, etc) are now configurable from the
commandline and within the UI.
- Updates to TIA palette support. Added SECAM support, and removed the
built-in original palette. Standard, z26, and user are still
available.
- Various bugfixes to some debugger commands. The run command no
longer causes a crash, and several others have better error-checking.
- Added more complete cartridge auto-detection for Commavid (CV), 3E,
3F and Activision (FE) formats.
- Removed XStart and Width ROM properties, since the forthcoming TIA
rework wont be using them.
- Reworked internal storage of ROM properties to be faster and take up
less space.
- Added several different ways of stretching the OpenGL image to the
-gl_fsmax argument, for more flexibility.
- Removed OpenGL aspect ratio setting favour of the previously mentioned
video changes. Well see how this goes.
- Removed dirty-rect support from software rendering, since it was actually
sub-optimal in Windows and OSX and defaulted to off in previous versions.
- Added support for gzipped ROMs.
- Re-added pause support.
- Re-added support for Windows 98.
- Removed support for STELLA_BASEDIR environment variable, since each
config file can be now configured separately.
- Removed -fastscbios argument, since it must always be turned on.
- Removed PSP support, since it hasnt been updated in over a year, and
someone else is maintaining another port elsewhere.
- For the Unix/Linux port; fixed make install issues, and changed icon to
PNG format.
