Dream DRM Receiver 1.6.25

Dream DRM Receiver 1.6.25

Dream DRM Receiver is an implementation of Digital Radio Mondiale. more>>
Digital Radio Mondiale, also known as DRM, is a new digital radio standard for the long-, medium- and short-wave ranges.

The standard was formed by a consortium in co-operation with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). The new system offers the radio stations and new service providers access to the multimedia age with small bit rates for large target areas and long distances.

The bandwidth of a DRM bandpass signal is less than 20 kHz and the number of carriers used in the OFDM-modulation is relatively small (max. 460). These features motivate a real-time software implementation of a DRM-receiver on a conventional personal computer (PC) using the sound card as the input and output device. A long, medium and short wave front-end with an intermediate frequency (IF) between 5 kHz and 15 kHz is used to receive the DRM signal.

Any commercial front-end with an IF of 455 kHz should be usable by adding a 455 kHz to 12 kHz adaptor (assumed the receiver bandwidth is sufficient for a DRM signal).

With this software project we intend to implement a working software receiver with, at least, the basic features. Since this project is created at a university and the fundamental idea of such an institution is to teach and stimulate the creativity, this source-code is free under the GNU-General Public License (GPL).

Dream is a development project which uses the open source model to improve DRM technology. The main aim of this project is to implement and test new research results on an existing system, whereby the synchronization and channel estimation is of special interest.

The programming-language is C++. The code runs under Microsoft Windows and Linux. Start of the project was June 2001.

Although this software is going to be distributed as free software under the terms of the GPL this does not mean that its use is free of rights of others. The use may infringe third party IP and thus may not be legal in some countries.

The intended audience of the Dream software are people who are interested in how to decode a DRM stream and want to learn from the algorithms used in this software and people who want to help us improving the performance of the receiver and the source code.

drawboard 1.52

drawboard 1.52

drawboard is a Java applet with a multiuser, shared whiteboard. more>>
drawboard is a Java applet used to make graphical teleconferences (like the whiteboard in Netmeeting).

When you draw something on your table, all remote users can see it. It features a client-server architecture and a high-color palette.

Installation

Unzip Drawboard distribution packet to selected directory. You can see there: test.html example file, drawboard.jar file with compressed class files and skin directory with default skin files. The doc directory contains this documentation and you can delete it at your will. Do not delete LICENSE file.

All files must be accessible through Apache. If you have account on Unix machine, create public_html dir in your home directory and unzip there Drawboard files. If the host name is host.com and your username is user, Drawboard should be avaible at http://host.com/~user/test.html - if doesnt work, ask your local admin for details.

Applet is "inserted" into HTML file as an < APPLET > tag. You have to load your WWW document to your vrowser through Apache (even on the same host). If you load local file, Drawboard will not be able to communicate with anybody.

Dont change "Main" to "main", whole text between quotation-marks is case-sensitive. See Chapter 3 for additional Drawboard applet options.

Attention - Drawboard is distributed in JAR package since v 0.71.

All Drawboard clients are connecting to server. Without working server communication is impossible. You should run server process by typing

$ java -cp drawboard.jar drawboard.Server

in the drawboard root directory (where HTML file is). This is important! Running server from other directory can cause problems, see p. 2.4. and 2.5.

You can treat server as a daemon and run it from startup scripts. You can also use the screen or nohup Unix utility to prevent server process kill at logout.

Notice, that there is no drawboard.Server file anywhere. Its just Server.class in drawboard directory, but Java treats this notation like "run instance of Server class from drawboard package" and everything works fine. You dont have to recompile anything before running server.

XWelltris 1.0.1

XWelltris 1.0.1

XWelltris project is a 2.5D Tetris-like game. more>>
XWelltris project is a 2.5D Tetris-like game. Its aim is to score as highly as possible.

XWelltris is a tetris like popular game.

Imaging that you are looking into the glass from the top. You see four walls and the bottom. The flat 2d figures falling down from the walls one by one. You can move these figures from one wall to another or rotate them.

If the figure leave the wall then it moves on the bottom while another figure is pushed. You need to form full rows and/or columns on the bottom.

When you form such row, it disappear and you receive additional empty space on the bottom and scores :).

The more rows disappear at a time, the more scores you have. If you cant place the whole figure on the bottom, then it stays on the wall and this wall became frozen (you cant place figures on it) for a while.

After nth rows were successfully cleared, you will receive bonus figure and go to to the next level - game speed will be increased. Your task is to play more longer and earn more scores.

The game options allow you to play with two,three,four,five or six piece figures, mix them together, show next figure and switch on rotation of the game board! Try it, its very funny.

Bundle::DBI is a bundle to install DBI and required modules.

SYNOPSIS

perl -MCPAN -e install Bundle::DBI

CONTENTS

DBI - for to get to know thyself
DBI::Shell 11.91 - the DBI command line shell
Storable 2.06 - for DBD::Proxy and DBI::ProxyServer
Net::Daemon 0.37 - for DBD::Proxy and DBI::ProxyServer
RPC::PlServer 0.2016 - for DBD::Proxy and DBI::ProxyServer
DBD::Multiplex 1.19 - treat multiple db handles as one

This bundle includes all the modules used by the Perl Database Interface (DBI) module, created by Tim Bunce.

A Bundle is a module that simply defines a collection of other modules. It is used by the CPAN module to automate the fetching, building and installing of modules from the CPAN ftp archive sites.

This bundle does not deal with the various database drivers (e.g. DBD::Informix, DBD::Oracle etc), most of which require software from sources other than CPAN. Youll need to fetch and build those drivers yourself.

Neitris 1.0 Beta

Neitris 1.0 Beta

Neitris is a competitive, network multiplayer version of Tetris. more>>
Neitris is a competitive, network multiplayer version of Tetris. The game features lots of bonuses and powerups used by players against their "victims".
Only the best, fastest, and smartest player will stay alive in the end.
Game Instructions
So, we are ready to go on with the game. At this point, a new window with the title Neitris should have appeared, which reads "Press Start to Start Game". Well....where is this damn Start button, anyway?
The Keys...
The keys used by the game are the following:
- Start: the Start Key ... starts the game and is actually the key "1" on your keyboard (NOT the number 1 key in the numeric keypad, the other one...)
- Left-Right: everybody knows what these two little ones do. Its the left and right arrows in the Numeric Keypad...
- Down: Its the down arrow in the numeric keypad and can be used to make a piece go down faster
- Rotate left: Rotates the piece to the left...the 5 key in the numeric keypad
- Rotate right: Rotates the piece to the right...the return key
- Drop: The drop key is used to instantly put the falling piece down. Its the 0 (Insert key, usually) in the numeric keypad
- Victim: Changes the victim (well talk about it in a sec). The 5 key (not the one in the numeric keypad, the ...other one)
- Use Antidote Key: Uses the antidote to get rid of applied powerups/bonuses(we said, WE ARE GOING TO TALK ABOUT IT IN A WHILE). The 2 key (again, not the one in the numeric keypad, the ...other one)
- The Reset-Wins key: Reset the wins counter. The 0 key (NOT THE ONE IN THE NUMERIC KEYPAD, I THOUGHT IVE MADE THIS POINT CLEAR SO FAR!!!!!)
WAIT! Before starting to calling me names, I should tell you that you can change the keys if you dont like them (and I bet you dont if youre using a notebook - no numeric keypad there, eh?). To do that, you should use your favorite text editor and edit the file neitris_cfg.py. The naming of the keys in the form K_ is due to the pygame library which simply calls them like this. For normal letters, use K_a, k_b etc (note the lower case in the letter). For the normal arrow keys use K_LEFT, K_RIGHT, K_UP, K_DOWN. For keypad keys, use K_KP0 to K_KP9 and K_KP_ENTER for keypad enter. Function keys are K_F1 etc. Space bar is K_SPACE. Anyway, to see all the available keys do the following:
- type python at a command prompt to invoke the Python Interpreter;
- Then, from inside the interpreter, type import(pygame) and press enter. Then type dir(pygame) and press enter. All the strings beginning with K_ are the ones you can use, thank you very much.
Enhancements:
- This the initial public release of the game.
- Earlier versions (actually svn revisions) can be found at the svn repository at the projects SourceForge page.
