Doodle 0.6.6
Doodle is a file search tool based on meta-data. more>>
Doodle is a tool to quickly search the documents on a computer. Doodle builds an index using meta-data contained in the documents and allows fast searches on the resulting database.
Doodle project uses libextractor to support obtaining meta-data from various file-formats. The database used by doodle is a suffix tree, resulting in fast lookups. Doodle supports approximate searches.
Main features:
- A web interface
- Ordering of search results
- Spidering (indexing the Internet or websites)
Using
First the doodle database needs to be created. The simplest way to create the database is to run doodle with the -b option on the directories that are to be indexed. For example:
$ doodle -b
This will create the doodle database under ~/.doodle.
After creating the doodle database, you can search it. For example:
$ doodle keyword
Full text search
You can achieve a (limited) form of full-text search with doodle. For that, the dictionary-based plaintext extractors from libextractor are used. In order to use them, you need to pass the option -b LANG to doodle.
LANG is a two letter language code that selects the dictionary. Available languages at the moment are en, es, fr, it and no. Words and sentences that are available in the respective dictionaries for these languages will then be added to the index.
While libextractor attempts to avoid full-text extraction for certain kown binary formats, it may still find words in non-text files. Running with this option will dramatically increase the size of the index and the time it takes to build the index.
Note that if you change the options used to build a database will not (!) result in doodle re-indexing files that were processed with other options previously. The only way to force doodle to re-index files with different options is to either touch the files (change modification timestamp) or to delete the old database and start from scratch.
Enhancements:
- This release fixes a bug on big-endian systems and an error in handling empty metadata entries.
- It also adds support for pkg-config.
- The database format changed; doodle indices will need to be regenerated.

KDoodle 0.2.4
KDoodle started out as a small Kdialog frontend to doodle. more>>
KDoodle started out as a small Kdialog frontend to doodle. After a short while of messing around with bash script I found that to be limiting possibilities. Starting to work with QT/C++ was the next challenge.
After 3 weeks of studying I have something working which might be usable to others. Have a go at it.
KDoodle is made as a frontend to doodle. Some extra features where added in the frontend. Doodle is an indexing tool which checks file content as well as filenames/directories etc..
Main features:
- Open search files from the frontend with an associated program and save the association
- Create a configuration file containing which directories to index
Installation:
Installation should be fairly easy
Install doodle and its dependencies
Have a working version of QT (Developped in QT3)
run qmake
run make...
copy KDoodle to your bin-directories

iConfKit for Linux 1.0.6
It is a free, easy-to-use, flash based lightweight video conferencing server. more>> ICONFKIT is a free, easy-to-use, flash based lightweight video conferencing server and messenging system built for small teleworking, collaborations and family contacts, with it you can contact your friends and colleagues, record your video and sound by webcam and microphone into files at server side and then play them later, make video conferences and textual group messenging, you can also share your ideas with some others via a whiteboard(doodle)!

Your people can access the server at office from around the world to talk and collaborate.
* Platform independent
Currently iconfkit server can be deployed on various operating systems, including windows(i386) and linux(i386). other operating systems support will keep coming. Installers for x86_64 architecture has been scheduled.
Thanks to the adobes flash player distribution, the client can also run on many platforms(windows, linux, macosx, solaris, ...) without installing a bit of extra things.
* One small sized executable
The server programs size is very small, on most platforms the executables file size is no larger than one mega bytes. They can be easily put within portable storages.
Additional DLLs or other files are not required. The single executable provides all the functions needed by the system to run.<<less

JACK Timemachine 0.3.1
JACK Timemachine is a tool that can record occasional bursts of interesting noise from jack apps. more>>
JACK Timemachine is a tool that can record occasional bursts of interesting noise from jack apps.
I used to always keep a minidisc recorder in my studio running in a mode where when you pressed record it wrote the last 10 seconds of audio to the disk and then caught up to realtime and kept recording.
The recorder died and havent been able to replace it, so this is a simple jack app to do the same job. It has the advantage that it never clips and can be wired to any part of the jack graph.
The idea is that I doodle away with whatever is kicking around in my studio and when I heard an interesting noise, Id press record and capture it, without having to try and recreate it.
It seems to be stable for me, but there could be threading issues and race condidtions if run without SCHED_FIFO (ie. without jackd -R).
