Docker 1.5

Docker 1.5

Docker is a docking application (WindowMaker dock app) which acts as a system tray for KDE and GNOME2. more>>
Docker is a docking application (WindowMaker dock app) which acts as a system tray for KDE and GNOME2. Docker can be used to replace the panel in either environment, allowing you to have a system tray w ithout running the KDE/GNOME panel or environment.

I wrote and designed Docker to work with Openbox 2, but it should work fine in any window manager that supports WindowMaker dock apps.

If you running WindowMaker or otherwise and experiencing problems, you should try using the -wmaker option to make docker keep a fixed size.

Docker requires a KDE3 compliant window manager to handle KDE3 system tray icons, and since it is a docking application, the window manager needs to also support WindowMaker Dock Apps. The only window manager that meets these requirements to my knowledge is:

- Openbox 2 (http://icculus.org/openbox)

If you know of any other window managers that support the KDE3 hints for the system tray and docking apps (i.e. that docker works in), please let me know so I can add them to this list, and test docker out in them!

Why dont my GNOME2 system tray icons show up?

I dont know! Email me and let me know what application isnt working. (Dont you dare email me about a GNOME1 application!

CShout 2.0

CShout 2.0

CShout is a shoutbox that completely needs no database at all. more>>
CShout is a shoutbox that completely needs no database at all. It uses a text file as its database. I have created it since I realised that I would need one for my own. Before that, I used the free shoutbox service at http://www.shoutboxes.com from which I adopted the idea. I started with a free tutorial on the internet which was really really basic and simple.
You can download, unrar and enjoy it straight away as well as using it with phpwcms as a mod. I dont know if this is considered as a mod but it does something different to the orginial copy of phpwcms. It is my little contribution to phpwcms community. This mod will add a shoutbox into your phpwcms site using phpwcms custom replacement tag.
If you would not mind, please let me know the website that you use this shoutbox. Put a link in to my shoutbox so that others can have different live demos of this shoutbox.
Main features:
- Use flat-file database, easy for setup and backup
- Support emoticons, flooding control (spam protection), bad words filtering.
- Display timestamp and ip address via tooltip.
- Timezone adjusting.
- Allow the admin to delete unwanted shouts on the fly.
- Search shouts by date, time, shouter, message, and ip address.
- Page navigation.
- New version 2.0 implements AJAX.
- Support any language/charset.

dnsreflector 1.02

dnsreflector 1.02

dnsreflector daemon listens for DNS queries on a local UDP port and answers with records pointing back to localhost. more>>
dnsreflector daemon listens for DNS queries on a local UDP port and answers with records pointing back to localhost. Combined with OpenBSDs packet filter pf(4) this works as a bandwidth efficient spamtrap.

dnsreflector was written and tested with OpenBSD. If you are interested in running dnsreflector on another platform, please contact me .

PF Setup

table < spamd > persist
rdr inet proto udp from < spamd > to any port 53 -> 127.0.0.1 port 53000

Usage

dnsreflector [-d] [-a address] [-p port]

-d Run as daemon in the background
-a address Bind to this address (default: 127.0.0.1)
-p port Bind to this port (default: 53000)

Linux: On popular demand I made a diff to compile dnsreflector with Linux (tested on SuSE). You will need a facility to redirect DNS queries coming from blacklisted hosts to dnsreflector. I dont know how to do this with Linux netfilter, but if you do, please tell me.

Fishbot 0.2

Fishbot 0.2

Fishbot provides a clone of the Qnet IRC fishbot service. more>>
Fishbot provides a clone of the Qnet IRC fishbot service.
Fishbot is an IRC bot service written in PHP. Its a clone of the original fishbot that Qnet uses.
This script is a "clone" of the real fishbot that is used on Quakenet. I dont know if it works exactly like the real fishbot, I just tested the real one on some commands and tryed to make something like it.
Original idea is from the IRCop splidge on Quakenet.
Its a fun-bot and build as a service, so it connets to your ircd as a service and try to do his job.
Enhancements:
- Fixed the on-join-empty-chan bug. When the bot starts at the first time it checks if the channel is empty, if it is, it will part it.
- Added a new command. You can use /msg help , and you should receive a simpel explenation of the given topic.
- Changed a little bit the script structure :)

Bigtop::Docs::TentRef 0.15

Bigtop::Docs::TentRef 0.15

Bigtop::Docs::TentRef is a Perl module for tentmaker reference (best viewed in html). more>>
Bigtop::Docs::TentRef is a Perl module for tentmaker reference (best viewed in html).

Intro

If you havent used tentmaker before, you probably want to start with its tutorial: Bigtop::Docs::TentTut. If you dont know what bigtop is, read Bigtop::Docs::About.

Unlike the tutorial, this document assumes you have started looking around tentmaker, but are wondering what all it can do. Here we will walk through it in detail. Consider this an encyclopedia of tentmaker (and dont complain too loudly if it is verbose and pedantic).

After a short section on the various ways to start tentmaker, we will turn to the tabs it offers and what they allow you to control. There you will find many screen shots to aid the discussion. If you cant see them with your current pod viewer, look them up here:

http://www.usegantry.org/images/tenttut or in the docs directory of the Bigtop distribution.

openPlaG 1.01

openPlaG 1.01

openPlaG is an online function graph plotter, written in PHP. more>>
openPlaG is an online function graph plotter, written in PHP. This application can compute and plot a very high amount of functions, including many probability functions and is fairly good configurable.
Instructions:
To run the program, youll need access to a web server with PHP 4 or 5 and GDlib running. I dont know with which PHP4 versions it works, but at least with 4.4.1 it does. For lower versions just try it out.
The downloaded program is a zipped tarball, which contains these files:
- function.php the iframe content where the graph (png-image) is shown.
- gnu_gpl.txt GNU GENERAL PUBLIC LICENSE Version 2. Read it, dont change it.
- graph.css the used style sheet. This is very minimalistic.
- graph.php calculates the graph and draws the image.
- init.php security check and formulae (functions) definitions.
- instructions.html explains the use of the plotter.
- openPlaG.html start here when getting into the source code. This is the start page with the two iframes for the graph and the single value. You may want to change its name to index.html or something like that.
- single.php calculates a formula with a single value, not the whole graph. The result is shown in the second iframe.
Upload the files on your server. The program should work without problems, if server and PHP are configured properly. Make your changes as you want to, but dont forget to tell me if you make something really amazing or useful.

Kurrently 0.2

Kurrently 0.2

Kurrently is a simple BASH script outputs the currently playing artist and track to ~/.playing_now. more>>
Kurrently is a simple BASH script outputs the currently playing artist and track to ~/.playing_now in this format: Author Name - "Track Name".

Kurrently is meant to be easily modified to direct whatever output you want to whatever location you want.

Why?

Because there are several scripts that output track information to a web page, but none that simply dump it to a text file for easy parsing.

Why would I want that?

I dont know. Maybe you use a blogging client that can read plain text files, and you want it to show others what youre listening to automatically? Maybe youd like to track the order of songs youve been listening to? Maybe youd like to display the contents of this file in a web page you already have set up somewhere? Do with it as you see fit.

Can I make changes?

Certainly. Its the beauty of the GPL. In fact, I recommend it. This script is very simplistic in what it does and how it does it. If youd like to make it dance to a different tune, feel free!

Audio Format Converter 0.7.0

Audio Format Converter 0.7.0

Audio Format Converter is a an Amarok script that allows you to convert the audio format of the tracks in the playlist. more>>
Audio Format Converter is a an Amarok script that allows you to convert the audio format of the tracks in the playlist. The script takes a snapshot of the current playlist. Once the conversion has started, you can go back to using amaroK normally.

Supported files for both input and output include .flac, .ogg, .mp3, .mpc, .m4a, and .wav. Additionally, .wma, .ra, and are supported for input. (See below for the required packages.)

I dont know how to do anything with metatags from .wma or .ra. All I know is tags will get transferred to the output file if and only if the tags show up in the amaroK playlist. If they arent there, I suggest converting the files, then using a real tag editor like Easy Tag to put them in to the converted files.

This has only been tested on amaroK 1.2.4, but it should work on any amaroK>=1.2

The original files are NOT deleted. If the output file will overwrite an existing file, a dialog will appear to ask you whether to go ahead and overwrite or to skip the track. If you try to convert a file into the format its already in, a dialog will ask you how to handle this situation.

Depending on the number of tracks and the speed of your computer, this can take a long time to run. With each track, a passive popup will let you know what track its processing. At any time, you can stop the script by clicking stop in the amaroK script GUI.

Vivid Saturation plugin uses channel mixer to increase saturation of the image. Result is Velvia-like image (For those who dont know, Velvia is a slide film from Fuji, and is known for its high saturation).

There are implementations of this plugin for The Other Product, and they are often called Digital Velvia or Velvian Colors. For GIMP I couldnt find such a plugin though, so I created my own.

CD-ROM Digest MD5 0.1

CD-ROM Digest MD5 0.1

CD-ROM Digest MD5 is a quick and dirty program to compute checksum of individual track. more>>
CD-ROM Digest MD5 is a quick and dirty program to compute checksum of individual track.
It reports for each track:
- size (read)
- MD5 digest
Supports:
- multi track CD-ROM
- mode 1
- Linux ioctl()
- libmhash
Doesnt support:
- DVD
- Audio CD
- Multi session
- Other operating system
Known problem:
- Track are often bigger than the data written inside
- The program will report an error at the end of the data
- I dont know the way to detect the end of data.
- The checksum is good, and the size too.
Be aware:
- Track shorter than 4s -> 300 frames -> 614400 bytes are padded
- To check the checksum, pad the img/iso file to 614400 and run md5sum

perlcdio 0.2.3

perlcdio 0.2.3

perlcdio is a lower-level wrapper to libcdio, the CD Input and Control library. more>>
perlcdio is a lower-level wrapper to libcdio, the CD Input and Control library.

SYNOPSIS

This is fairly straight-forward wrapper around the C library libcdio. Although this is perfectly usable on its own, it is expected that the Object-Oriented interface Device::Cdio is what most people will want to use.
There are various constants that are defined here.

Encapsulation is done in two parts. The lower-level Perl interface is called perlcdio (this file) and is generated via SWIG.

CONSTANTS

Driver IDs

DRIVER_UNKNOWN
Use when you dont know what kind of driver and you dont care if it is an CD image driver or a real CD-ROM driver. See also DRIVER_DEVICE which doesnt include image drivers.

DRIVER_AIX

Driver for IBMs AIX.

DRIVER_BSDI

Driver for BSDI.

DRIVER_FREEBSD

Driver for Free BSD

DRIVER_LINUX

Driver for GNU/LINUX

DRIVER_SOLARIS

Driver for Solaris

DRIVER_OSX

Driver for Apples OS X.

DRIVER_WIN32

Driver for Microsoft Windows

DRIVER_CDRDAO

Image Driver for cdrdao

DRIVER_BINCUE

Image driver for CDRWin BIN/CUE

DRIVER_NRG

Image driver for Nero NRG

DRIVER_DEVICE

Use when you dont know what kind of driver but the driver must be a real CD-ROM driver. See also DRIVER_UNKNOWN which includes image drivers.
Real OS driver numbers come before image-disc drivers. Here are constants that can be used in iteration.

MIN_DRIVER

Smallest image or OS driver number.

MIN_DEVICE_DRIVER

Smallest OS device driver number.

MAX_DRIVER

Largest image or OS device driver number.

MAX_DEVICE_DRIVER

Largest device driver number.
