config-mplayer 0.1 offers you a small but very useful GUI program which is designed for customising your mplayer configuration. It is NOT a wrapper or GUI version of mplayer. It's only business is showing some configuration options and rewriting the mplayer config whenever you change them. The idea is that you can customise it with YOUR desired configuration options just by editing a few files.

Major Features:

  1. Switching my audio output between rooms (devices).
  2. Changing the DISPLAY which mplayer will play on - for playing on my main desktop, my TV, or within VNC (and in the case of VNC - selecting the SDL driver which actually works over VNC).
  3. Switching the video to use X11 so that I can take a screenshot.
  4. Changing the aspect ratio of a video when the file is incorrect.
  5. Toggling the 'eq2' filter on when I start a second instance of mplayer and the first instance has got the overlay brightness control.
  6. Starting in fullscreen
  7. Cropping the black borders off of a PAL video within a wide format stream.
  8. Adding a volume filter for low or high volume video files.
  9. Toggling deinterlacing.
  10. Forcing the OSD on or off.
  11. Forcing the index of a dodgy file to be rebuilt.
  12. Switching to using a different XV port when the main one decides to stop working and just stays blue (very rare these days).
  13. Selecting an MPEG-TS transport stream pid.
  14. Adjusting subtitle position

Requirements:

  • GTK version 2.xxx
  • perl GTK2 bindings (perl-gtk2 or gtk2-perl depending on your system)
  • You don't need any GNOME rubbish installed

Pydiction 1.1

Pydiction 1.1

Pydiction offers you a powerful and very useful utility which allows you to Tab-complete Python code in Vim, including: standard, custom and third-party modules and packages. more>>

Pydiction 1.1 offers you a powerful and very useful utility which allows you to Tab-complete Python code in Vim, including: standard, custom and third-party modules and packages. Plus keywords, built-ins, and string literals. It consists of three main files:

  • python_pydiction.vim -- The Vim plugin that creates the Tab-completion functionality for Python files.
  • complete-dict -- A Vim dictionary file that contains Python keywords and module structure. This is what the plugin looks at to know which things are completable.
  • pydiction.py -- (Optional) Python script used to generate the dictionary. You can optionally run this script to add more modules to complete.

Major Features:

  1. Pydiction can complete Python's keywords, built-in functions, and string literals, as well as standard, custom and third-party package and module names and their attributes and methods. It can also complete fully-qualified names such as "module.submodule.method", as well as non-fully qualified names such as simply "method".
  2. Pydiction uses the Tab key to do completion, rather than inefficient Ctrl key combinations and the like.
  3. Unlike omni-completion, Pydiction works with more than just imported modules. For example you can complete Python built-in functions and keywords, such as "print", "raw_input", and so on.
  4. Pydiction doesn't require Python support to be compiled into your version of Vim, nor do you need to have Python installed on the machine you use it from (unless you want to use pydiction.py)
  5. Using a special dictionary file to complete from, Pydiction doesn't pollute any other menus that you you may be using for other types of completion, such as omni-completion or ins-completion.
  6. Since Pydiction uses a dictionary of possible completion items, it can complete 3rd-party modules much more accurately, and quickly, than other ways. And you have full control over what can and cannot complete. If it's unable to complete anything, you can either use pydiction.py--to automatically add a new module's contents to the dictionary-- or you can manually add them using a text editor. The dictionary is just a plain text file, which also makes it portable across all platforms.
  7. Also because Pydiction uses a dictionary file, you don't have to import a module before you can complete it, nor do you even have to have the module installed on your machine. This makes completion faster than omni-completion since it doesn't need to do any type deducing.
  8. Pydiction only attempts to complete while editing Python files.
  9. You can still use omni-completion, and other forms of completion, with Pydiction. In fact, they can all make a great team.
  10. Pydiction knows when you're completing a callable method or not and, if you are, it will automatically insert an opening parentheses.
  11. The Tab key will work as normal for everything else. Pydiction will only try to use the Tab key to complete Python code if you're editing a Python file and you first type part of some Python module or keyword.
  12. Pydiction is far form perfect, but it was created because none of the other forms of Python completion for Vim were perfect either. There is a new project underway called PySmell that also looks promising. Keep in mind that Pydiction was originally started in 2003 and back then there wasn't really anything else.

Enhancements:

  • Added quoted string method completion
  • ZSI Web Services module completion
  • Fixed a bug with the -v option.

Don Ceferino Hazana is an action game similar to Super Pang.

A game similar to Super Pang. You are attacked by little green balls which are bouncing around and which you have to kill with your knife.

Your knife however is limited to being thrown upwards, thus you have to get under the balls to kill them. Even worse, if you kill a large ball, it doesnt just vanish, but breaks apart into two smaller balls.

Levels consist of little platforms connected by ladders, so you can go up and down or find cover if needed.

Role Playing Tools 1.1

Role Playing Tools 1.1

Role Playing Tools extends the pen and paper role playing tabletop to the computer. more>>
Role Playing Tools extends the pen and paper role playing tabletop to the computer by providing a die rolling tool with a full expression language including Javascript functions, tabbed rolling bars, quick summation features, and the ability to save and restore sessions. There is also a client and server map sharing tool. Both are intended to be simple and powerful and enhance the game, not distract from it.

We found that we wanted to augment our pen-and-paper roleplaying (primarily 3.5ed D&D) with computer aids.

These tools extend and augment our traditional playing style. They are not a role playing game by themselves, nor are they meant to replace everything at the D&D table.

DiceToolis a simple but powerful expression parser that has built in functions for random number generation and can be further extended by JavaScript to do all sorts of calculations.
MapToolis an elegant graphical tool to share maps (images) and map data (drawings, markers, grid placement) in a client/server fashion between multiple players.
TokenToolis an accessory to MapTool. Drag any image onto the workspace and use the mouse to move and zoom the image in the reticle. Then drag from the preview pane directly onto MapTool -- or File->Save to save a png file.

ObjStore::Internals 1.59

ObjStore::Internals 1.59

ObjStore::Internals is a Perl module with a few notes on the implementation. more>>
ObjStore::Internals is a Perl module with a few notes on the implementation.

SYNOPSIS

You dont have to understand anything about the technical implementation. Just know that:

ObjectStore is outrageously powerful; sophisticated; and even over-engineered.

The perl interface is optimized to be fun and easy. Since ObjectStore is also blindingly fast, you can happily leave relational databases to collect dust on the bookshelf where they belong.

So basically, you dont have to understand anything to a greater depth. Its not necessary. Youve arrived. You will be successful. However, more detail follows. If you like to turn things inside-out, read on!

Perl & C++ APIs: Whats The Difference?

Most stuff should be roughly the same. The few exceptions have generally arisen because there was a perl way to make the interface more programmer friendly.

Transactions are perlified.

Some static methods sit directly under ObjStore:: instead of under their own classes. (Easier to import.)

Databases are always blessed according to your pleasure.
lookup, open, is_open, and lock_timeout are augmented with multi-color, pop-tart style interfaces.

Why not just store perl data with the usual perl structures?

CHANGE CONTROL

As perl evolves, new data layouts are introduced. These changes must not cause database compatibility problems.

BINARY COMPATIBILITY

Perl doesnt have to worry about binary compatibility between platforms. Databases do. In addition, databases impose a number of restrictions on persistent data layout that would be onerous and sub-optimal if adopted by perl.

MEMORY USAGE

Perl often trades memory for speed. This is the wrong trade for a database. Memory usage is much more of a concern when data sets can be as large or larger than ten million megabytes. A few percent difference in compactness can be quite noticable.

KDE Kontact 1.2.5

KDE Kontact 1.2.5

KDE Kontact is a PIM (Personal Information Management) suite. more>>
Kontact Personal Information Management suite unites mature and proven KDE applications (called components in the context) under one roof. Thanks to the powerful KParts technology, all components are seamlessly integrated into one application.
The components of KDE Kontact are all shaped to work nice with each other. This results in features like intuitive drag n dropping between components and appointment handling, task lists and contacts.
KDE Kontact also extends its components with support for various groupware servers. When using these servers your workgroup will have access to features like shared email folders, group task lists, calendar sharing, central addressbooks and meeting scheduling.
In short: KDE Kontact delivers innovations to help you manage your communications more easily, organize your work faster and work together more closely, resulting in more productivity and efficiency in digital collaboration.
Main features:
The Summary Component
- This component is specially made for KDE Kontact. It provides both an overview of the other components and a selection of information gathered from the internet like weather info and headlines. In fact any RDF news feed can be added.
The Mail Component
- The mail component is provided by KMail, the KDE mail client -- a straight forward mail client that comes with all features you would expect.
The Calendar Component
- It is quite obvious that KOrganizer, again very mature KDE application, gets used as the calendar component. This feature-rich program is so easy to use and intuitive that you will quickly adopt it as your personal organizer. Extended with groupware functionality it can boost the communication within every workgroup.
The Contacts Component
- As the name implies: this component manages your valued contacts. The application providing this component is KAddressbook, a program that is deeply rooted into KDE. It was integrated in KMail and KOrganizer even before the KDE Kontact project was started
The Notes Component
- This component serves as your infinite block of digital sticky notes. Your can stick them on your desktop and they say visible even after closing KDE Kontact.
The News Component
- This straight forward, full-featured news reader is provided by KNode, KDEs default news reader.
The Sync Component
- KitchenSync, KDEs universal syncing application provides a framework for syncing with all kinds of devices. On one side it will have a plugin based interface with your mobile devices, like: PDAs and smart phones. On the other side it has conduits for connecting with other KDE Kontact components and external applications. The Sync component, provided by KitchenSync, is currently being implemented, therefore KitchenSync is not yet considered to be stable. Till the day that KitchenSync takes over we have two very nice applications that seamlessly integrate with KDE Kontact: KPilot for syncing with Palm compatible devices and Kandy for syncing with several mobile phone types. Eventually, KitchenSync will become a universal syncing framework.

MRTS 0.1.1

MRTS 0.1.1

MRTG RRDtool Total Statistics is a PHP script that uses MRTG and RRDtool to sum up traffic monthly and yearly. more>>
MRTG RRDtool Total Statistics is a PHP script that uses MRTG and RRDtool to sum up traffic monthly and yearly. Just click on any device and MRTS will show you the traffic-graphs and the statistics on how much traffic you have made during the actual/last months/year.

MRTS is short for “MRTG RRDtool Total Statistics”. It is a PHP script written by Thor Dreier that uses “MRTG and RRDtool to sum up total traffic monthly and yearly”. But why making words, if you can see the full power of MRTS in some examples: http://mrts.domainnet.dk

First thing to do is to check, which of the above mentioned packages you already have installed. No idea? Well, then you should do a simple
ls /var/db/pkg
or
pkg_info

which lists the packages, you have installed using the FreeBSD ports. If you don’t know what the FreeBSD ports are, then you probably won’t have to read on, as some basics really are required in this tutorial ;) Anyway, i’m trying to explain step by step. After you have checked your installed packages, install the packages you still need.
Net-SNMP: /usr/ports/net-mgmt/net-snmp
MRTG: /usr/ports/net-mgmt/mrtg
RRDtool: /usr/ports/net/rrdtool

Some of these programs depend on various libraries (e.g. zlib, libpng, GD), but that’s the good thing: The port-install-mechanism will automatically check, if you have them or not and it will install them, if needed. Do a make && make install && make clean

in the corresponding port directories to install that specific port. Now it could take a while until all ports are compiled.

MyDNS 1.0.0

MyDNS 1.0.0

MyDNS is a native SQL-based DNS server. more>>
MyDNS is a free DNS server for UNIX. It was implemented from scratch and is designed to serve records directly from an SQL database (currently either MySQL or PostgreSQL).
Its primary objectives are stability, security, interoperability, and speed, though not necessarily in that order.
MyDNS does not include recursive name service, nor a resolver library. It is primarily designed for organizations with many zones and/or resource records who desire the ability to perform real-time dynamic updates on their DNS data via MySQL.
MyDNS starts and is ready to answer questions immediately, no matter how much DNS data you have in the database. It is very fast and memory-efficient. It includes complete documentation, including a manual and a FAQ.
MyDNS supports a few frills, including round robin DNS, dynamic load balancing, and outgoing AXFR for non-MyDNS nameservers.
MyDNS is licensed under the GNU General Public License
Enhancements:
- Changed PostgreSQL connect error message code. It will still try the Unix domain socket (not sure why I did that) but if all fails, it outputs the first error message, which is much more likely to make sense.
- Implemented David Phillips AIX patch.
- Implemented Petter Larssons ALIAS patches for mydnscheck and mydnsexport.
- Made sure all copyright notices included 2004.
- Fixed "undefined constant" and other strict error message stuff in contrib/admin.php.
- Fixed reference to "rr" (table name) in contrib/admin.php -- replaced with $rr_table_name.
Thanks to Harald Paulsen for finding this.

Advene 0.23

Advene 0.23

Advene is aimed at providing a model and a format to share annotations about digital video document. more>>
Advene (Annotate Digital Video, Exchange on the NEt) is an ongoing project in the LIRIS laboratory (UMR 5205 CNRS) at University Claude Bernard Lyon 1. The project aims at providing a model and a format to share annotations about digital video documents (movies, courses, conferences...), as well as tools to edit and visualize the hypervideos generated from both the annotations and the audiovisual documents.
Teachers, moviegoers, etc. can use them to exchange multimedia comments and analyses about video documents. The project also aims at studying the way that communities of users (teachers, moviegoers, students...) will use these self-publishing tools to share their audiovisual "readings", and to envision new editing and viewing interfaces for interactive comment and analysis of audiovisual content/
Main features:
- At the package creation level : annotation of audiovisual documents (association of typed information to temporal fragments), creation of visualisation means (views).
- Exchange of annotations and visualization modes in packages independently from the audiovisual material (images and sounds). If needed for the visualization of the data, pictures and sound clips can be extracted from the digital video support (e.g. file, DVD). The user of the data is then required to possess the video to take full advantage of the analysis and comments.
- At the package use level : visualisation of augmented movie (the annotations are used to display supplementary information on the video, to control the playing of the video, to navigate the video), visualisation of hypertext documents constructed from annotation and AV material, use of ad-hoc views (e.g. timeline view).
Enhancements:
- This release features a new customizable GUI layout, quick search functionality, usability enhancements in the timeline view, and a number of improvements and bugfixes.
