Docker 1.5

Docker 1.5

Docker is a docking application (WindowMaker dock app) which acts as a system tray for KDE and GNOME2. more>>
Docker is a docking application (WindowMaker dock app) which acts as a system tray for KDE and GNOME2. Docker can be used to replace the panel in either environment, allowing you to have a system tray w ithout running the KDE/GNOME panel or environment.

I wrote and designed Docker to work with Openbox 2, but it should work fine in any window manager that supports WindowMaker dock apps.

If you running WindowMaker or otherwise and experiencing problems, you should try using the -wmaker option to make docker keep a fixed size.

Docker requires a KDE3 compliant window manager to handle KDE3 system tray icons, and since it is a docking application, the window manager needs to also support WindowMaker Dock Apps. The only window manager that meets these requirements to my knowledge is:

- Openbox 2 (http://icculus.org/openbox)

If you know of any other window managers that support the KDE3 hints for the system tray and docking apps (i.e. that docker works in), please let me know so I can add them to this list, and test docker out in them!

Why dont my GNOME2 system tray icons show up?

I dont know! Email me and let me know what application isnt working. (Dont you dare email me about a GNOME1 application!

-s seconds: sleep time (in seconds) between dings.

- Panel Docking. KBiff can be docked into the panel very easily. Handy when you are monitoring several mailboxes and dont have room anywhere else.

skim 1.4.5

skim 1.4.5

skim is an input method platform based upon scim-lib that has been optimized for KDE. more>>
skim is an input method platform based upon scim-lib that has been optimized for KDE. skim project provides a GUI panel (named scim-panel-kde), a KConfig config module, and SetupUIs for itself and scim-lib. It also has its own plugin system, which supports on-demand loadable actions.
Main features:
KDE compliant:
- Default settings are retrieved from KDE and the GUI honors the KDE/Qt global styles, including but not limited to the apperances colors of widgets and icons;
- GUI language is determined by the KDE global setting, rather than LANG (or similar) environment variable, so no matter what your locale is, you can select preferrable user interface language. Whats more, skim ships with a bunk of translations, currently including: (Simplified/Traditional) Chinese, French, German, Japanese and Korean;
Fully KDE integration:
- if you close your KDE when skim is still running, next time you login KDE, skim will get loaded automatically; After installation of skim, you can start it from "KDE Menu->Utilitis->skim";
Fully customizable:
- a setup GUI is shipped with skim, in which you can modify all settings not only about skim but also SCIM and most the settings will take efforts immediately without the hassle of restart;
Based on modular concept:
- nearly everything you see are in seperate plugins, so you can configure which one you want. Not specified plugins would not get loaded at all to save your memery; some temporary functions such as configuration dialogs will be loaded on-demand, and will be unloaded automatically when they are no longer needed;
Object Oriented:
- like any other KDE/Qt application skim is written in C++.
Transparent Window support:
- the Input Window and Main Window can be set a opacity other than 100% with the help of Composite (comes with xorg >= 6.8.0). A configure dialog is shipped with skim, so you can change it easily. In addition, this feature works with both kompmgr (the composite manager shipped in KDE) and xcompmgr (xorgs composite manager).
Main Window Dockable into Panel (kicker):
- do you ever hope to dock the main toolbar into the panel, just as what you can do under M$ Windows XP? Here you go. And you can click a button to toggle between Docking mode and Standalone mode on the fly. (now only kicker is supported.)
Different Direction support in Main Window:
- The layout of the buttons in the Main Window now is not fixed to y"from left to right" mode, you can choose one from the other 3 possibilities: "from right to left", "from top to bottom" and "from bottom to top".

wmisdn 1.8

wmisdn 1.8

wmisdn is a dock applet that monitors the i4l ISDN subsystem. more>>
wmisdn is a dock applet that monitors the i4l ISDN subsystem and lets the user start/stop/disable a ppp connection on a specified device.

wmisdn can run as a docked applet in KDE2 (via kappdock), WindowMaker or Afterstep, as well as a standalone windowed application in any other window manager. On its main window wmisdn shows the status of the monitored ippp device.

An additional panel can be toggled to show extended information about the connection. wmisdn can control the ippp connection via three buttons that appear on the upper side of the main window when toggled using the vertical arrow switch (take a look at the second screenshot).

The green one opens the connection, the yellow one closes it and the red one disables it.

Command line options:

Use the -w option if you want to dock wmisdn into the Windowmaker dock. The -s option is useful for Afterstep and other dock-enabled window managers.

The -dialmode option tells wmisdn which dialmode to use for the device when the user presses the yellow button requesting that the connection (if any) is stopped and the dialing is enabled. You can use auto for enabling the autodialing feature of i4l or manual. If the option is not present wmisdn tries to get the current setting from the device. If the devices dialmode setting is set to off, indicating that the device has been disabled, the defualt setting auto is assumed.

The -device option tells which ippp devices should be monitored. The devices are expected as a comma separated list of device names with NO BLANKS in it, i.e. "-device ippp0,ippp1,ippp5". The order of the device names is not important. On most systems the only configured device is ippp0 and this is the default setting if none specified. If you want to monitor a slave device (for mppp), you should also specify
it using this option.

The -lamps option causes the connection control buttons to be displayed directly upon startup, as if some magic hand has pressed the vertical-arrow-button that toggles them. It is intended for users who need them permanently. If you have set the hangup timeouts and the default routes properly, so that dialing and hanging up is performed automatically, you wont need the control buttons very often and since I find that wmisdn looks better without them, they dont appear on the default display mode.

The -font option can be used to specify a different font for the info window and the device display (the default font is the LED-builtin). The font name must follow the X11 font naming conventions and must be placed in quotation marks (take a look at xfontsel if you dont know the font names on your system).

The -usescripts and -path options deal with the scripting feature of wmisdn. For more information, read the SCRIPTS file.
