WMApp DockApp Library 0.0.4.3

WMApp DockApp Library 0.0.4.3

WMApp is a C++ based library for writing WindowMaker-style dockapps. more>>
WMApp DockApp Library is a C++ based library for writing WindowMaker-style dockapps. To write a dockapp, it is generally necessary to perform some magic Xlib incantations, supply a clipping mask, and set up X event checking.
Like larger graphics libraries such as GTK+ and Qt, WMApp automates this process by providing the classes and functions necessary for widget creation and callbacks.
The library provides numerous widgets, all with the traditional dockapp appearance. Many common dockapps could already be rewritten to use this library.
WMApp widgets available (most shown above) include:
- WMText, a text widget with three available font sizes (two are shown).
- WMLED, for creating the cutesy blinkenlights beloved by authors of PPP/Ethernet status dockapps.
- WMHistory, for showing the history of some quantity.
- WMMeterBar, for showing the quantitys instantaneous value. Available in three different styles.
- WMSlider, a subclass of WMMeterBar. This class lets you change a value by clicking or scrolling the mouse wheel over the widget.
- WMImage (not shown), a box with the capability to display a pixmap.
- WMButton. Buttons may have one or more callback functions attached.
- Or, inherit from WMCallback in order to give any other widget the ability to run callback functions.
- WMCanvas, a subclass of WMImage that lets you draw directly onto the dockapp.
- WMEllipse; inherit from this widget to create rounded buttons, images, etc.
- WMFrame. These container widgets may be nested to create the desired layout.
- WMWindow (one instance for each possible state of the dockapp). These contain all the other widgets for that state. WMWindows may have callback functions attached that execute every so often. These could be used, for instance, to update a clock or progress bar, or to "time out" an Internet connection.
Enhancements:
- Several fixes were made so that WMApp will compile with modern, stricter C++ compilers.
- Two new, very small fonts are now available.
- There are also new set/getuserdata() members of the WMApp and WMWidget classes that can be used to store arbitrary data to be used within callback functions.

wmforkplop 0.9.3

wmforkplop 0.9.3

wmforkplop is a mixture between wmhdplop and the great wmtop. more>>
wmforkplop is yet another dockapp for WindowMaker, or any windowmanager/desktop environment that handles dockapps (KDE has a dockbar extension, and gnome swallows).
The project is a mixture between wmhdplop and the great wmtop: wmforkplop monitors your processes by sending visual stimuli to your cortex each time your kernel forks or kills a process. Try to compile a kernel and enjoy the wmforkplop show!
Main features:
- theoritical portability that still has to be demonstrated.
- useless animation reflecting forking activity.
- wmtop-like feature (displays the top cpu consuming processes)
- a "process browser" with a license to kill.
- many unreadable information written in a tiny font.
Enhancements:
- This release fixes the infamous bug where incorrect process names were displayed.

cnslock is a dock application (dockapp) which provides a visual indication of the states of the three "lock" buttons (caps, num, and scroll).

cnslock was written so that I could see the state of those keys as I have a wireless keyboard with no leds on it.

Usage:

Simply launch:

cnslock

If you have problems running it under a different window manager, such as fvwm or enlightenment, there is a command line argument that may help:

cnslock -w

wmcapshare is a dockapp to control and manage the HP Capshare Information Appliance.

The goal is to provide a linux replacement for the CapShares own application which HP has seen fit to discontinue.

Why

I got sick of having to deal with the openobex sample application as my only interface to my HP Capshare. So I finally sat down and dealt with it. Also HP recently discontinued the product and no longer support it. I had been using it with windows when I needed to, but the drivers no longer work with Win2K.

What

The HP CapShare is a handheld document scanner. wmcapshare is a dockapp to manage the files you upload

WM Workload is a workload average monitor (the number of process trying to use the CPU concurrently in the last minute).

This project is a modification of wmnetload. wmworkload is a dirty hack on wmnetload. A few structures are still on ifstats.h.

Just type "make" and then copy the binary "wmworkload" to your favorite DockApp directory.

wmworkload requires libDockApp to run

wmldonkey is a WindowMaker dockapp that gives various informations about the downloading files in mldonkey.
Installation:
The simplest way to compile this package is:
1. `cd to the directory containing the packages source code and type `./configure to configure the package for your system. If youre using `csh on an old version of System V, you might need to type `sh ./configure instead to prevent `csh from trying to execute `configure itself.
Running `configure takes awhile. While running, it prints some messages telling which features it is checking for.
2. Type `make to compile the package.
3. Optionally, type `make check to run any self-tests that come with the package.
4. Type `make install to install the programs and any data files and documentation.
5. You can remove the program binaries and object files from the source code directory by typing `make clean. To also remove the files that `configure created (so you can compile the package for a different kind of computer), type `make distclean. There is also a `make maintainer-clean target, but that is intended mainly for the packages developers. If you use it, you may have to get all sorts of other programs in order to regenerate files that came with the distribution.
Enhancements:
- support for login:passwd added
- login:passwd setup with command line option
- new rcfile options
- fixed bugs with the auto page switch
- some parts of the code rewritten
- minor bugfixes, as usual

WMCpu 1.3

WMCpu 1.3

WMCpu is a dockapp CPU monitor resembling Xosview. more>>
WMCpu is a dockapp CPU monitor resembling Xosview. Displays system/user/nice/idle CPU statistics, and also system uptime. Supports 2.2 or 2.4 kernels.

This is a pretty boring looking CPU monitor dockapp. Its not sexy, not fast, and not really useful either. This is something I started back in 1998 and I guess I really havent had time to play with it since then.

T. Sander sent me a couple fixes for the display problems, so I got motivated to look at this mess and see what I can do with it.

If you havent used XosView, this might be a little puzzling for you. But what you need to do is get XosView and run it for a few minutes and youll understand what this dockapp does.

Installation:

1) % tar -zxvf wmcpu-1.3.tar.gz
2) % cd wmcpu-1.3
3) % make
4) % make install
5) % wmcpu & (or wmcpu -h for help)

wmWeatherApp 0.0.3

wmWeatherApp 0.0.3

wmWeatherApp is nothing more than a very simplistic weather dock app. more>>
wmWeatherApp is nothing more than a very simplistic weather dock app. There are several quite nice dockapps for this purpose, however they were all far too bloated for my needs therefore I created a very minimalist one.

This application simply grabs the image of the current weather (using your zipcode which you supply as a parameter to wmWeatherApp) and displays it as the background image of the dockapp.

You can left click on the dockapp and have it launch a web browser (which you can configure by setting the environment variable BROWSER) and show you the weather.

Quick usage instructions:

./configure && make && make install
wmWeatherApp -zip 61832 -delay 300

-zip specifies your zipcode
-delay specifies the update interval in seconds. 300 seconds is what I currently use.

The weather image is pulled from www.wunderground.com (which is the most reliable weather provider I have found). License is GPL.

WMpop is a Window Maker DockApp for monitoring a local (mbox format) or POP3 and APOP mailbox. more>>
WMpop is a Window Maker DockApp for monitoring a local (mbox format) or POP3 mailbox. WMpop project displays:
- number of mails in the mailbox (or unread mails if checked in the preference screen),
- a scrolling text with the email address of the senders (only for local mailbox for the moment),
- and a status led, indicating mail checking progression and errors.
WMpop can be configured via a graphic interface written in GTK+. The configuration interface let you define parameters of your POP3 server, and let you personalize the app (changing icons or sound and choosing an external command to launch on demand).
It is internationalized, with French translation. You can also run several instances of the program of different mailboxes (remote or local).
