DivXripper 0.1.3

DivXripper 0.1.3

DivXripper converts MPEG1/2 files to AVI format with the DivX low motion codec. more>>
DivXripper converts MPEG1/2 files to AVI format with the DivX low motion codec. It also understands ifo files from DVDs, and has a very simple player.
To build this program i have taken ideas and some code from various programs: xmovie, vcr and specially mpeg2divx. Thanx to all of you !!
I started this project when i tested mpeg2divx and it lacked some features i wanted. Now it has these features, but meanwhile i have had some fun coding my program.
Tips for usage:
Execute program with no arguments to get full usage instructions The input file can be any MPEG1/2 file or also the typical vts_01_0.ifo file. In the latter case, the program will convert all the VOBs in a DVD movie.
One of the main features of this release is the cropping code. The cropping can be done with two different ways:
Cropping based on a ratio between width and heighti (-R command line
argument). Several DVDs show in the back cover two different aspect ratios of
the film, usually 16:9 and 2.35:1. The first ratio is the standard one, but
the second tells the real size of the film, after removing the two black bars.
Cropping a number of output lines (-l command line argument). This is the
failsafe method when we dont have enough information to use the above method.
The number of lines to crop can be calculated with ther trial-and-error method
using the player mode (its the only decent use it has)
The other new (and very cool) features are the automatically calculation of:
The bitrate to fit the film in a 700MB CD.
The correction factor of the audio volume.
Using any of this two features requires a previous pass decoding the film audio.
Enhancements:
- Fixed bug on mono audio
- Fixed wrong calculation of audio buffer size

File2Divx3Pass is a Perl-GTK frontend to mencoder for encoding media file to MPEG4. more>>
File2Divx3Pass is a Perl-GTK frontend to mencoder for encoding media file to MPEG4.

It can encode any media file supported by mencoder to DiVX, in 1-, 2- or 3-pass encoding.

You can create new, save and load projects and you can batch encode your projects. It also has an automatic video bitrate and bits per pixel calculator.

File2DiVX3Pass2 is a Gtk2 version, with the same functionality as the Gtk version. I have added some new features (see changelog). Formats tested by me that work: MPEG-1, MPEG-2, DiVX, WMV, ASF, RM, MOV, DAT, CUE/BIN and OGM.

Drip 0.9.0

Drip 0.9.0

Drip is a DVD-to-DIVX backup tool for GNOME or CLI. more>>
Drip is a DVD to DIVX conversion application. Its made up out two applications: a DVD reader and a DIVX encoder. The reader is a GUI for the GNOME environment, the DIVX encoder a text mode tool.
You wont have to learn to use the textmode tool, because the GUI also is a frontend for it. Drip is not yet usable for NTSC (Region1) DVDs because those are prepared differently as PAL DVDs.
Main features:
- Utilisation of avifile encoding, so much avifile codecs support, o.a. MSMPEG4, OpenDIVX and Xvid encoding support
- MP3 audio encoding, also dual channel.
- DVD reading, based on libraries libdvdread and libdvdcss
- Subpictures overlaying (not as seperate data)
- Automatic clipping, blurring and scaling of video stream
- Deinterlacing of PAL video (Not for interlaced NTSC material, but helps a little)
- DVDdb support and DVD header pasring for automatic DIVX naming
- Terminal only encoding (dripencoder)
- Plugin filters for audio and video.
- Many other options and logic for ONE RUN divx creation
Requierments:
- A recent version (1.2 or later) of the GNOME environment.
- nasm and automake-1.5 or later to compile.
- A Unix OS with GNU development and DVD support (UDF or ISO9660), like linux 2.4
- libdvdcss-1.2.2 for handling DVD data.
- libdvdread-0.9.3 for parsing DVD disk info.
- For mpeg2 and a52 decoding, install both libmpeg2 0.2.1 and liba52
- xvid 0.9.2
- avifile 0.7.34 or later for divx;-) encoding.
- Image Magick for the ImageMagick filter.
- libXML2.
- gcc 3.2.x to compile.
- libmpeg2 0.3.1
Version restrictions:
- NTSC deinterlacing.
- Complete PCM handling. PCM audio tends to go out of sync with current code. Need more testing material..
- Chapter handling. Drip offers Program Chain and angle selection, but not seperate chapters.

Dvdkup 0.6

Dvdkup 0.6

DVDKUP is a GTK interface for Mencoder, the encoding command of the software MPlayer. more>>
DVDKUP is a GTK interface for Mencoder, the encoding command of the software MPlayer.
It allows to easily create a backup copy of your dvd in MPEG4 standard, fully compatible with your DivX player (even the "stand-alone" ones!), using the LAVC codec. This codec, written by MPlayer developers, gives a quality comparable with last DivX and Xvid codecs (higher, for the MPlayer staff!).
For the audio encoding, DVDKUP use the dear old mp3 or the original AC3 stream of your dvd. Actually DVDKUP doesnt support OGG Vorbis encoding.
DVDKUP uses a very simple interface to create one or more AVI files ready to be burned on your cd-r. If you choose to use more than one cd-r, DVDKUP automatically split the movie using the chapter informations, in order not to break a scene just in the middle.
Enhancements:
- various bugfixes

im2avi 0.4

im2avi is a small program for making AVIs from sequences of images. more>>
im2avi is a small program for making AVIs from sequences of images. im2avi project makes use of avifile for encoding video streams, so im2avi has access to all the codecs that avifile supports, including e.g. DivX or Cinepak.

It uses the ImageMagick++ library to load the images, so it supports a wide range of formats. im2avi was developed on linux, but should run on most OSen that support avifile, ImageMagick and fltk.

NOTE: All the linux machines that I work with are still running Debian Stable (aka Woody aka Linux 1958) and im2avi happily works on these machines. Some users have reported getting it to run on newer machines, some users have reported not being able to. At some stage, Ill spend some time on a newer Linux distribution and update everything to run out of the box on such machines. Until then, you are primarily on your own.

My primary use for im2avi is to make "screen movies" for presentations and such-like. To capture the actual frames, I use xvidcap. I write the frames to the default xwd-format (which im2avi can easily read) and then make msmpeg4 AVIs.

eMoviX 0.9

eMoviX 0.9

eMoviX is a micro Linux distro that makes a CD able to boot and play audio/video content. more>>
eMoviX is a package that allows you to create bootable CDs able to boot & autoplay your multimedia files. It is intended mainly to play video files but if you want it can be used to play also audio files. I plan to release eventually a distro similar to eMoviX but aimed at audio only, so stay tuned!
The philosophy behind eMoviX is to make possible to generate video/audio CDs that are self-sufficient, i.e. that you can play on every PC regardless of what is installed on it: just insert the eMoviX CD inside a CD/DVD-ROM and boot the PC from there!
Video Formats Supported:
The world of video formats is a big mess, so it is not trivial for me to tell exactly which files will be played by eMoviX.
First of all, let me point out that eMoviX uses mplayer to display videos and therefore eMoviX works with a subset of the formats supported by mplayer, that you can find in the mplayers info page.
Apart from that, these formats are reported to work fine with MoviX:
- avi files - in particular -->DivX<<less

MoviX 0.8.3

MoviX 0.8.3

MoviX is a small but powerful Linux console distro aimed at multimedia playback. more>>
MoviX is a mini Linux distro on CD aimed at playing multimedia: when you boot your PC with the MoviX CD the distro should be able to start a console menu interface to MPlayer, the best multimedia player in the Unix world.
At that point you can safely remove the MoviX CD and play all multimedia files you want: DVD [no zone constraint], VCD, DivX, QuickTime, avi, mpg, mp3, ogg etc.

The idea of MoviX came up to solve two different problems arising from eMoviX.
First of all with eMoviX you cannot watch DVDs, mainly because you have no space to copy vob files in a 700MB eMoviX CD.
Furthermore, those of you who have already a big archive of multimedia CDs would probably not happy at the idea of "eMoviX-ing" them all.

MoviX solves both problems: it is not made to be embedded with the movie in a CD but just to be loaded in a PC to transform it in a true MultiMedia Box, so after that you can extract from your CD/DVD-ROM the MoviX CD and insert & play every DVD/VCD/CD you have around.

So remember: MoviX is not an "improved" version of eMoviX nor a replacement for it! It has a totally different philosophy behind, the mplayer binary is compiled with different options and it is used for different purposes.
The name is similar because anyway they are both related to Unix and movies :-)
