Show Screen Captures is an extension which enables displaying screen captures of external links on a web page. more>>
Show Screen Captures is an extension which enables displaying screen captures of external links on a web page.

Displays screen captures of external links on a web page. Screen shots provided by openthumbshots.org.

A screenshot, screen capture, or screen dump is an image taken by the computer to record the visible items on the monitor or another visual output device. Usually this is a digital image taken by the host operating system or software running on the computer device, but it can also be a capture made by a camera or a device intercepting the video output of the computer.

Screenshots, screen dumps, or screen captures can be used to demonstrate a program, a particular problem a user might be having or generally when computer output needs to be shown to others or archived.

Set CD-ROM Speed 1.1.6

Set CD-ROM Speed 1.1.6

Set CD-ROM Speed is written in Kommander as a helpful application to set CD-ROM and DVD-ROM drive speed more>> Set CD-ROM Speed 1.1.6 is written in Kommander as a helpful application to set CD-ROM and DVD-ROM drive speed. Since the issues mentioned here apply to CD-ROM and DVD-ROM drives as well as to recorders for these types of media, in this document the name 'CD-ROM drive' will be used to refer to all of these drive types.

Major Features:

  1. Fast CD-ROM drives have one big disadvantage over older and slower models. In order to be able to support high data transfer speeds, the CD-ROM disk must spin very quickly in the disk drive, which results in a lot of noise. This loud humming can make listening to MP3 or OGG music from CD-ROMs a very unpleasant experience and is very annoying at best for other tasks which don't require the CD-ROM to work at full speed.
  2. Using set-cd-rom-speed, you can decrease the drive's speed and thus reduce the annoying noise. The GUI allows choosing three predefined speeds suitable for different tasks and custom speeds provided by the user. The list of available CD-ROM drives is generated based on information from /etc/fstab. This works even if you use supermount-ng or subfs for mounting the CD-ROMs. The program supports multiple languages and several translations are available. It also integrates with KDE by adding an item which allows setting drive speed to the context menu of CD-ROM and DVD-ROM drive icons displayed on the desktop.
Enhancements:
  • Added Czech translation (thanks to Jozef Riha)
  • Fixes in Slovak translation (thanks to Jozef Riha)
  • Two variants of Brazilian Portuguese translation merged into one (thanks to Dherik Barison)

Original Disk Mount Applet 2.10.0

Original Disk Mount Applet 2.10.0

Original Disk Mount Applet is the original disk mount panel applet. more>>
Original Disk Mount Applet is the original disk mount panel applet.

This is the same as the disk mounter included through GNOME 2.8. For GNOME 2.10 the official applet was rewritten, the new version adds the ability to autodetect mountable devices, but drops a significant (all) configurability.

It no longer allows you to choose which devices are displayed on the panel, their order, or icon representation.

Install this applet if you want to restore the old disk mounter behavior for GNOME 2.10.

MMS Downloader 0.0.1

MMS Downloader 0.0.1

MMS Downloader provides a GUI to handle and save MMS streams to disk. more>>
MMS Downloader provides a GUI to handle and save MMS streams to disk.

mms-qt lets you save MMS streams (mms://) to your disk as files. It is based on mms_client.

There is a program on the Israeli TV which i like to watch, and recently ive found out that there is an official web site hosting video parts shown previously on TV, but they were all in mms format.

Not too long after, ive found the outstanding work major mms did. Major mms wrote both a plugin for xine to watch these streams, and a command line downloader. My little idea was to take his command line downloader and wrap it with a QT GUI. So i did it.

So assuming youve found an MMS stream youd like to store on your Hard Drive, all you have to do is download it and, to use it, simply type

$ mms-qt mms://...

When the stream is done, the "Done" button will be enabled. Pressing "Cancel" in the middle will stop the download but will still save the partial file.

Thats it, simple as that.

GliBench SMP 0.5

GliBench SMP 0.5

GliBench is a Gui based benchmarking tool to check your computers CPU and hard disk performance. more>>
GliBench is a Gui based benchmarking tool to check your computers CPU and hard disk performance. The software is based on the benchmarks I developed for CliBench Mk III SMP a SMP enabled benchmark program for Win32.
There were several tries to port it to other architectures than Win32, but this was not that easy. So I decided to to a Linux port, based on the GTK toolkit with Gnome support, as Linux runs on almost every hardware around and GTK is quite easy to port to other OSs.
The CPU tests are all ported to ANSI C. They run fully multithreaded using posix threads. You can already use the program for benchmarking your hardware.
Enhancements:
- The application was completely rewritten for GTK+ 2.x and Glib 2.x.
- New stress tests and threaded I/O tests for benchmarking hard drives are available.
- Both console and GUI interfaces are available.

Apple Disk Transfer ProDOS 1.0.2

Apple Disk Transfer ProDOS 1.0.2

Apple Disk Transfer ProDOS transfers diskettes and logical disk images between Apple ][-era computers and the modern world. more>>
Apple Disk Transfer ProDOS (or ADTPro for short) transfers diskettes and logical disk images between Apple ][-era computers and the modern world. If youre familiar with the original ADT, ADTPro extends ADTs reach by working with more logical disk formats, drive types, communications devices, and host operating systems.
Main features:
- Compatibility with any device ProDOS can read
- Compatibility with any Apple ][ (or clone) computer with 64k memory
- Compatibility with many logical disk image formats: .DSK, .PO, .NIB, 2IMG
- Server compatibility with original ADT client program
- Server compatibility with Windows, Mac OSX, Linux, and probably Solaris
- Ability to bootstrap an Apple ][ from bare metal over serial or cassette ports
- Ability to send floppies in "batch" mode without having to name each one
Server
The server program runs on a computer capable of running Java. Depending on how you want to connect to your Apple, you might also need a serial port and cables, an Uthernet card for your apple, or a couple of audio patch cables. The server offers a compact user interface that shows what communications are taking place between the host and the Apple ][.
The servers primary role is to send and receive disk images as requested from the client. But if you have recently acquired an Apple and a disk drive, and you have no software for it - youre in a bit of a tricky situation if you want to move software from the Internet all the way to your shiny new Apple. ADTPros server can help get you get bootstrapped.
Client
The client side runs on the Apple ][. It handles most of the user interaction. When choosing disks/volumes to transfer, anything that ProDOS can see is fair game. Transferring data occurs with a 20k buffer on the Apple, so all transfers are broken up into 20k chunks. A progress indicator shows how far it is into the current chunk, as well as a running count of the total progress.
Enhancements:
- This release has been enhanced with Jean-Marc Boutillon (Deckard)s FASTDSK fast Disk II reading routines.
- This results in a speed boost of 25%-33% for Disk II to host transfers.
- Bootstrapping operations have been reduced, as there is no longer a dependency on ProDOS BASIC.

NathanCheckers 1.5

NathanCheckers 1.5

NathanCheckers is a graphical, mouse-driven implementation of Checkers. more>>
NathanCheckers project is a mouse-driven, graphical implementation of Checkers. American Standard Checkers rules are enforced.
Known Bugs/Issues
- All versions: It appears that sound support currently requires the game to be run from a writable drive (not a disk image or CD).
- Windows: An extra command prompt window stays open. Runs on Windows 2000, but reportedly you need to minimize and maximize it before you can see the gameboard.
- Linux: Requires PyGame 1.6 or above.
- OS X: No quit menu-item (just close the window). How do you add menu items in PyGame anyway?

Mounttero 0.4

Mounttero 0.4

Mounttero is a tool for automatically mounting drives using autofs. more>>
Mounttero automatically mounts most storage devices such as USB drives and cameras, DVDs, CDROMs, hard disks, and floppies.

Devices are mounted when users opens their directory, such as /mnt/auto/cdrom, and are unmounted when the directory remains unused for four seconds.

Usage

For example, when user opens directory /mnt/auto/usb/, digital camera is automatically mounted and all the pictures shown in the directory. After four seconds of inactivity, device is unmounted and can be detached.

Manual Configuration

The rest of this document describes manual configuration of mounttero. If you installed the rpm, it did all this configuration automatically and you dont need manual configuration. The scripts below contain some latest and greatest version 0.5 improvements that have not made it to rpm yet, namely more usb partitions.

Create the directories used by the automounter. The directory is the one mentioned in /etc/auto.master:

# mkdir -p /mnt/auto/autofs

Create auto.master to tell autofs daemon that /mnt/auto/autofs directory is handled according to auto.tero

# /etc/auto.master
# mountpoint map options # see also: man 8 autofs
/mnt/auto/autofs /etc/auto.tero --timeout=4

List the actual mountpoints and devices in the automounter map

# /etc/auto.tero

# /etc/init.d/autofs restart

Now drives are automatically mounted when you try to access them. You can test it by inserting a cdrom, and cd /mnt/auto/autofs/cdrom. The CDROM is automatically mounted, and ls should show you contents of the cd. When you cd to another directory, such as home directory (cd), CDROM is umounted in four seconds and the eject button in the drive starts working.

To see which drives are mountable (have discs in drive), you can create symlinks (similar to shortcuts) to the mountpoints. You can create the symlinks manually for each drive, for example

# cd /mnt/auto/
# ln -s autofs/cdrom cdrom
