drsbackup 0.98
drsbackup is for backing up systems, disk to disk. more>>
drsbackup is for backing up systems, disk to disk. drsbackup project is not aimed at your cron job that does periodic backups. Instead, it is intended as a one-shot backup facility, for use when you, say, need to upgrade a system, in which case doing a -a followed by a -a -i can be very effective.
It has three primary modes of operation:
1. Back up all filesystems on the system, as determined by a df-local script that lists all local filesystems. If your df-local script doesnt work, dont blame drsbackup .
2. Back up all filesystems specified with -f.
3. Back up all files that have changed since initial install (requires stamp/check-stamp/elim-dirs, and a stamp snapshot to have been done at install time).
Largely orthogonal to the above modes of operation, there are these additional, independent modes of operation:
1. Copy all files, but split out
2. Copy only files that have changed (presumes split out copies)
3. Copy all files, but to a series of tar archives
You can also specify whether transfers should be compressed or not (only on the client side, so far, which is usually what one wants, but not always).
Run it with an argument of -h for usage.

Secure back door 0.5
Secure Back Door (SBD) is a tool that provides ultra-secure and minimal access to a computer. more>>
Secure Back Door (SBD) is a tool that provides ultra-secure and minimal access to a computer, which allows you to run a single command based on a one time key. It is good if you dont want to have an SSH server running all the time, and only want to start it when needed. Because it has only a few lines of code, it is hoped that it will be less susceptible to security exploits than a program like SSH.
The protocol is detailed to an extent in the text file PROTOCOL, I will update it with more details as I have time, but the most important details are included already.
If you are a crypt analysis, or just like a challenge, I appreciate anyone who is willing to look through the protocol and/or code and point out possible security implications and flaws in design!
Enhancements:
- Fixed a few minor compiler warnings
- Updated license year to 2005
- Uncommented execution code in sbdd, so now sbdd will execute incoming commands
- Updated README documentation for compilation

Intellidiscs 1.1
Intellidiscs is a Remake of Tron: Deadly Discs for the classic Intellivision console. more>>
Intellidiscs is a Remake of Tron: Deadly Discs for the classic Intellivision console. Its also one of the few, if not the first, Tron freeware games that has nothing to do with light-cycles.
Basically, you run around in an arena fighting off bad guys with your disc. There are four different varieties of bad guy, and one of them has three different varieties of disc. More difficult enemies appear as your score increases, with the most difficult showing up if you can reach 1,000,000 points.
Bad guys enter through doors on the sides of the arena. You can jam these doors open by either hitting them with your disc, or by running into them. If you jam open doors that are opposite each other, you can run in one side and come out the other. This is very important to your survival.
If you jam enough doors, eventually a recognizer will be dispatched to fix them. If you can hit the recognizer when its eye is open, it will stop fixing the doors and leave the arena. Plus, you get lots of points for this.
You can take three hits before you die, and every hit makes you slower! You will eventually recover from damage, regaining your speed as well. Touching the recognizer kills you instantly, so dont do it.
Default controls are the familiar WASD to move, and the outer keys of numpad (1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, non-Mac users turn Num Lock on!) throw your disc in any of eight directions. If you press one of the throw keys while your disc is in flight, it will return to you. Discs are harmless when returning. If you move away from your disc as it is flying back, it will never catch up to you, you must stop and catch it. All of the controls can be changed from the main menu.

Despeckle Plug-In 1.3.2
Despeckle plug-in provides selectable filters to remove specs, scratches, or other noise in an image. more>>
Despeckle plug-in provides selectable filters to remove specs, scratches, or other "noise" in an image. The following filters are available:
Non-recursive median,
Recursive median,
Non-recursize adaptive median,
Recursive adaptive median.
Using the Despeckle Plug-In:
Figure 1 shows the despeckle plug-in window. The scrollbars allow you to pan within the image (in this case to the back of the duck in the foreground). The preview window shows the filter output using the current settings.
The Radius control selects the window size used for the filter, from 1 (3x3) to 20 (41x41). Larger values increase the amount of time needed to filter each pixel in the image and can cause blurring.
The Adaptive button selects the adaptive median filter - this filter varies the window size based upon the image content and sometimes improves the clarity of filtered images. The Black Level and White Level controls adjust the levels used by the adaptive filter to adjust the filter radius.

Cedar Backup 2.13.2
Cedar Backup is a Python package that supports backups of files on local and remote hosts. more>>
Cedar Backup is a Python package that supports backups of files on local and remote hosts to CD-R or CD-RW media over a secure network connection. Cedar Backup project also includes extensions that understand how to back up MySQL databases and Subversion repositories, and it can be easily extended to support other data sources, as well.
The package is focused around weekly backups to a single disc, with the expectation that the disc will be changed or overwritten at the beginning of each week. If your hardware is new enough, Cedar Backup can write multisession discs, allowing you to add to a disc in a daily fashion. Directories are backed up using tar and may be compressed using gzip or bzip2.
There are many different backup software implementations out there in the free-and open-source world. Cedar Backup aims to fill a niche: it aims to be a good fit for people who need to back up a limited amount of important data to CD-R or CD-RW on a regular basis.
Cedar Backup isnt for you if you want to back up your MP3 collection every night, or if you want to back up a few hundred machines. However, if you administer a small set machines and you want to run daily incremental backups for things like system configuration, current email, small web sites, or a CVS repository, then Cedar Backup is probably worth your time.
Cedar Backup has been developed on a Debian GNU/Linux system and is currently supported only on Debian and other Linux systems. However, since it is written in portable Python, it should in theory run without too many problems on other UNIX-like systems which have a working version of the cdrecord and mkisofs utilities.
Enhancements:
- Invalid regular expressions in the configuration are now handled better.
- Other minor documentation cleanups were done.

beam-back 1.0
beam-back is a simple Python script to save streaming MP3 data. more>>
beam-back is a simple Python script to save streaming MP3 data. This script has been tested with my.mp3.com and www.shoutcast.com. If you want to make an mp3 for an infinite stream m3u url, start beam-back with the option -v:
xterm -e beam-back.py -v %s
Verbose mode will tell you how much data has been read on a particular stream. Hitting ctrl-c in the xterm will cause beam-back to stop downloading and save the stream to a file.
The default name is "unfinished-stream.mp3" which can be changed with the -u option.
If you find the stream is dropping out and losing link unexpectedly, try the -p option.
Many internet radio sites use the .pls file format but the servers do not treat the mime type correctly :( You can save these streams in the following manner:
1) save the .pls file locally
2) from a linux prompt execute: ./beam-back.py -v pls_filename
Or you can set up both the two mime types:
audio/x-scpls
application/octet-stream
with suffix pls to "xterm -e beam-back.py -v %s"
Finally, if you want to setup cron jobs, you can stop and save a beam-back transfer by doing a kill -INT to the job.

Rhino in Spring 1.1.1
Rhino in Spring is a project that intends to integrate Mozilla Rhino JavaScript interpreter. more>>
Rhino in Spring is a project that intends to integrate Mozilla Rhino JavaScript interpreter, the interpreter for the best (in our opinion) dynamic language on the Java platform with Spring Framework, the also best (again, in our opinion) enterprise framework on the Java platform.
Rhino in Springs aim is to provide a system that amalgamates the rapid development benefits and flexibility of a dynamic language with the strength, scalability and versatility of the Java platform and the Spring framework.
At the moment, the project delivers a controller component for Spring MVC that allows complex control flows spanning several webpages in web applications to be expressed as a single structured algorithm in JavaScript, putting the rich set of control flow structures and function reusability of a full-blown language at your fingertips. It transparently maps the users requests to the correct points of execution in your JavaScript code, even as the user freely navigates your website using the browsers back button or even "File-New Window" functionality!
A flexible set of state persistence options (including one where all state management is shifted to the browser, for maximum server scalability) is included.
Enhancements:
- Added support for relative pathnames in include(), with backward compatible lookup of absolute pathnames
- Fixed bug when an implicitly created ScriptStorage wasnt properly initialized
