MailStore 0.02
MailStore is a tool that is built in python and provides a mail proxy for POP3,IMAP4 and SMTP protocols. more>>
MailStore is a tool that is built in python and provides a mail proxy for POP3,IMAP4 and SMTP protocols. However, beyond usual proxies, it makes a backup of all incoming and outgoing email and stores them in a Maildir format.
Emails then can be accessed through an IMAP server run on the same machine using the backup Maildirs as mailboxes.
The idea is to provide a realtime , centralized backup of all incoming and outgoing of an organization without the need of user intervention, especially for organizations that use shared email hosting. Many of this hosting providers allow for only POP3 based access of the email.
Secondly, due to its shared hosting environment , there is limited space hence all email ends up being downloaded directly to the client. Any backup effort has to be taken up by the user on a periodical basis. This is prone to problems due to the fact that users might either forget or a data disaster might happen in between a backup cycle.
With a backup proxy like this all email is always available at the backup proxy. Any backup need be done by the administrator only at the proxy server itself. This we believe to be a much more convenient task then backing up user systems individually.
Secondly the MailStore server will always have all the emails the user has sent or received at any point ,hence the backup will always be current. To access the email, a local IMAP server can be run that will provide the user with access to the email that has been backed up. The user may then add this account to their email client and backup all the email out of it locally. (E.g. In Outlook you would probably export all the email in the account). Following that the user will import back the mail back into its original account.
Thirdly , the system requires minimal administrator involvement. It handles the creation of new maildirs for new domain/user combinations. Hence administrators dont have extra config files to play with whenevr new users are added to the system. Whether a user exists or not is left up to the mailserver that mailStore is proxying.
The mailStore system is built in Python. It has been tested with Python 2.3 and 2.4. Any system which support Python 2.3/ Python 2.4 should be able to run it.

Twisted Storage 0.1.5
Twisted Storage is an application that will take your data and manage it for you, just like a file system. more>>
Twisted Storage is an application that will take your data and manage it for you, just like a file system. But Twisted Storage goes way beyond what a normal file system does.
What types of "objects" are stored in Twisted Storage : just regular files. The data stored in the system is expected to be fixed content, meaning it doesnt change at all. If you read the data back, change it, and store it, it is considered a different file. There are plenty of examples of fixed content data : emails you received, movies or mp3 files you made or own, documents you wrote, etc. In fact it is estimated that 80% of the data you have on your computer is fixed, reference data.
Your Twisted Storage system can start out small - a single computer with a few disk drives. When you need more storage you can add more disk drives and more computers. But it has been designed to store petabytes worth of data without requiring any special hardware. For example storing a petabyte worth of data, using the biggest disk drives available today (500 GB), would require 2000 disk drives. To overcome the need of special hardware, Twisted Storage is a scalable, distributed system using ordinary commodity computers. Even so that petabyte of data would require 500 computers networked together and that requires special handling.
Twisted Storage has a few features you wont find in any file system. For example once a file is added to the Twisted Storage repository it can be written in multiple locations simultaneously. The system has been designed to be compliant with Sarbanes-Oxley Act: when an object is added to the repository you can no longer delete it and the integrity of the contents are guaranteed. In addition any access to the object is recorded.
Main features:
Scalable to thousands of servers and multiple petabytes of data.
- Regardless of how much data you want to store,Twisted Storage is designed to handle it. The system can grow from one computer and a few disks to hundreds of systems and thousands of disk drivers.
Automatic data recovery without human intervention.
- Twisted Storage doesnt require backup/restore software or procedures. All data written to the system is recorded in multiple locations.
No special disaster recover procedures.
- So long as you have your systems in physically different locations and you have instructed the software to write the multiple copies to those systems, you have no-hassle disaster recover. If one of the sites goes down, the system will retrieve any data from the other systems. Additionally, once the disaster site is up and running, the system will automatically restore the data to the it.
Simplified configuration.
- To ease management of the system, you can change any one systems configuration and have it ripple through out the system.

strhash 0.6.0
strhash is a hash table library. more>>
strhash is a hash table library.
A strhash is an associative array, mapping keys to values. Keys and values may be strings of up to 2 gigabytes (2^31) bytes of length, containing any possibly character. Keys need not be unique.
All hashing libraries i used before had some kind of more or less annoying limitations.
Main features:
- key sizes are often limited to a few or a few hundred bytes. While this is often enough is sometimes bites.
- key values are sometimes limited to a restricted character set.
- data sizes are also often limited.
- data values are sometimes limited to a restricted character set.
- the number of keys is often limited. Sometimes the libraries havent even been tested against a large number of keys, which is a recipe for disaster.
- keys may need to be unique.
- the implementations sometimes only have a high-level interface which make it hard to put wrappers around it. Strhash on the other hand only has a low-level interface and is explicitly meant to be used to but higher layers on top of it.
Enhancements:
- Added the strhash_load and strhash_save functions to save a hash to a file and reload it again.

NetDirector 3.1.2
NetDirector is an open and extensible management framework for managing configurations of common open source network services. more>>
NetDirector is an open and extensible management framework for managing configurations of common open source network services.
NetDirector offers both form driven and fine-grained control of server configuration files with many added benefits including rollback and policy-based access. It can manage both Linux and most any flavor of Unix. However, the preferred platform to host NetDirector Server Manager on is Linux.
What can you manage with NetDirector?
Today you can manage the following configurations through an easy-to-use form based web console. Or you can edit the entire configuration file in an editor manually but with the added advantage of automated version control.
- HTTP (Apache)
- DNS (BIND)
- DHCP
- File and Print Services (Samba, NFS)
- Email (Postfix, Sendmail)
- FTP (VSFTP)
- Users and Groups (mass add users to multiple servers at once.
- Network Interfaces
- Numerous System files
What else can NetDirector do beyond configuration management?
NetDirector is more than just a configuration tool, NetDirector has additional features including the following:
- Rollbacks (Revision Control) of each change made to a service accross any number of servers
- Troubleshooting/Logs
- Schedule Changes to occur anytime in the future
- Server configuration cloning.
- Intuitive integrated support for managing clustered servers and disaster recovery configurations.
- Track Past or Scheduled Changes to be done
- Track who made what changes and when
- Granular Role based user management
These capabilities can be applied to other server functions. For example, you could adapt NetDirector to schedule and run shell scripts on servers under management. Or, you could develop a module to provide system backups using Amanda as or simply use NetDirector as a way to front-end access to all servers, giving you the ability to tighten the points of authentication to servers and add an additional layer of security.

A powerful visual administration console that enables you to easily administer your MySQL environment more>>
MySQL Administrator is a powerful visual administration console that enables you to easily administer your MySQL environment and gain significantly better visibility into how your databases are operating.
MySQL Administrator now integrates database management and maintenance into a single, seamless environment, with a clear and intuitive graphical user interface.
By using MySQL Administrator you will be able to:
- Achieve higher database availability through improved management
- Reduce errors through visual database administration
- Lower database administration costs through improved productivity
- Deliver a more secure environment through easier privilege management
MySQL Administrator enables developers and DBAs to easily perform all the command line operations visually including configuring servers, administering users, and dynamically monitoring database health.
Other common administrative tasks such as monitoring replication status, backup and restore, and viewing logs can also be performed through the MySQL Administrator graphical console.
User Administration in Minutes
Administering users, granting privileges and viewing user privilege information has never been easier! Now you can leverage the full power of MySQLs user management and privilege capabilities to fully protect your MySQL server host using an integrated graphical user administration console.
For example, a form-based interface provides a simple method for adding users, assigning passwords and including user profile information. Plus, assigning and revoking global, database, and table/column privileges is as easy as adding and removing privilege items from an available list. Finally, an explorer interface provides a hierarchical view allowing you to easily view user privileges by privilege type.
Single View Dynamic Health Monitoring
Dynamic health monitoring gives you an immediate view into the key indicators of the health of your MySQL environment. Dynamic graphs enable you to easily view percentage of memory usage, connection usage, hit rates, as well as the number of SQL queries on an ongoing basis, as your system runs.
The Disk Health tab gives you an overview of the amount of hard disk space, tablespace, and log files being used. You can also use the visual health monitoring feature to get a hierarchical view into status and server variables such as the number of outstanding connections, number of bytes sent and received by clients, buffer allocations size and more.
Quickly Optimize MySQL
MySQL Administrator now allows you to easily view and setup key parameters so you can quickly optimize the performance of MySQL. Using a graphical forms-based environment, you quickly fine tune general and advanced parameters. For example you can set memory usage parameters and configure server start-up parameters related to the MyISAM and InnoDB table types.
Rapid Disaster Prevention and Recovery
Now you can rapidly create consistent backups and restore data by simply visually selecting the schemas and tables you want to back/restore from your hierarchical data directory. The graphical environment gives you additional visibility into Tabletype, Rows, Data Length, and Update time.
Server Information At-a-Glance
The server information section of MySQL Administrator allows you to quickly view basic information about the server and client. This view gives you immediate visibility into items such as server status, client and server version numbers and IP address, as well as connection information.
View Replication Status
Now you can quickly set up replication to increase the robustness and speed of your MySQL environment. The replication features within MySQL Administrator allow you to easily view the network topology of your replication master and slaves. Plus, the graphical environment provides additional visibility into IP addresses and logfiles.
View Server Logs from a Centralized Administration Environment
Now you can view all the MySQL log files including error logs, binary logs, and InnoDB logs from a single, centralized administration environment so you can diagnose server problems quicker and track database changes.
Service Control
Gain complete control of service creation and overcome the time consuming task of installing and setting up services. Plus, start and stop MySQL servers and view corresponding log messages.
Browse Catalog
Browse your catalog and view corresponding tables with columns, all indices and users with privileges to access selected databases. From here you can monitor and optimize tables.
Cross Platform
MySQL Administrator will initially be available for Microsoft Windows and Linux, and be compatible with MySQL version 4.0 or later.

- Terrain uses dynamic tessellation (continuous Level of Detail) to render high resolution terrain at large sizes.
- Up to 16 human players or more supported, depending on system specs. Maximum online players realistically only limited by game server bandwidth, CPU and RAM.
More background and info on the game can be found on the DropTeam webpage located here.
The purpose of this release is to test DropTeams network functionality with a large number of players. Anyone can play for free in order to help us test DropTeam but this build has the following important restrictions:
1. Single player is disabled. You can only play network games with this release. The full version of the game includes single player skirmish games and a single player campaign.
2. This release only allows you to play 2 scenarios. The full version of the game includes 21 scenarios with more available for free download after release.
3. This is a test release, which means the game isnt finished yet. It definitely still has bugs. We greatly appreciate your help in finding and fixing them all!
Apart from these restrictions, this is a fully functional release. Players can use all of the dozens of vehicles and deployable items in the game. The two included scenarios are "Ice Field" and "Raid". Ice Field takes place on the frozen wasteland of Arcanum, a once-inhabitable planet orbiting Luytens Star that has had its climate devastated by bombardments from the Mu Arae Entente. The Raid scenario takes place on an inhabitable moon called Hopewell. Hopewell orbits a gas giant in the Wolf 9773 star system. Almost half of the moons surface, called "The Scorch", is a radioactive Hell created by the destruction of an antimatter station that used to orbit the gas giant. The remainder of Hopewell has recovered from this disaster and is once again beginning to flourish with vegetation and a growing human population.
This release includes everything needed to connect to servers and play on the Internet or on Local Area Networks on Windows, Linux, and Mac OS X Tiger. It also includes everything needed for players to run their own public or private servers. This is important since there will be a limited number of public servers made available by TBG. We plan to run only 6 servers for this public test release so players might need to run their own servers if they want to play frequently.

- Support for enhanced graphics effects including advanced shaders and High Dynamic Range rendering.

Relax and Recover 1.2
Relax and Recover (abbreviated rear) is a highly modular disaster recovery framework for GNU/Linux based systems. more>>
Relax and Recover (abbreviated rear) is a highly modular disaster recovery framework for GNU/Linux based systems.
The disaster recovery information (and maybe the backups) can be stored via the network, local on hard disks or USB devices, DVD/CD-R, tape, etc. The result is also a bootable image that is capable of booting via PXE, DVD/CD and tape (OBDR).
Main features:
- Focus on Disaster Recovery
- Modular concept
- For Linux and other Unix-like operations systems
- No external dependancies - use only standard software supplied with the distribution
- encryption (optional) - openssl ?
- Linux: kernel > 2.6 supported (no kernel 2.2/2.4 support !)
- User friendly - minimal output, use log file for error messages and details
The aim is to make rear as least demanding as possible, it will require only the applications neccessary to fulfill the job rear is configured for. All other applications will be copied to the rescue system if they are present.
Enhancements:
- Added SELinux suppport for NETFS Did restore tests with NETFS - see video 2006-08-31 GSS
- Added NETFS support BACKUP=NETFS 2006-08-30 GSS
- finally fixed bug in mkrescue-functions.sh about c0d0p 0 (DEVwP=1)
- Added RHEL ES/AS support 2006-07-21 GD
- start the NFS/CIFS tar backup-restore cyclus
- added support for Software RAID

sudosh 2.0.0
sudosh can be used as a default login shell or a filter that takes advantage of PTY devices. more>>
sudosh can be used as a default login shell or a filter that takes advantage of PTY devices in order to sit between the users keyboard and a program, in this case a shell.
It was designed specifically to be used in conjunction with sudo, and allows the execution of a root or application shell with logging. It is basically a VCR and will record root shell sessions and also has the ability to play back the sessions as they were originally recorded.
sudosh records all input/output, keyboard input, and timing information so that the session can be played back in the original format.
Enhancements:
- Utilizes ITIL best practices.
- An enterprise view of Unix access.
- Enterprise-level audit reporting tools for Sarbanes-Oxley.
- Customizable audit reports via CSS.
- An embedded transactional SQL92 relational database.
- Load balancing.
- Disaster recovery.
- SSL encryption and PKI authentication.
- The ability to audit file transfers and remote command execution.
- Configurable default shells.
- Audit logs are digitally signed for integrity.
- Client and server configuration files for easy management.
- Idle session timeout.
- Displays corporate policy before each session.

Make CD-ROM Recovery 0.9.7
Make CD-ROM Recovery is a disaster recovery CD-ROM maker. more>>
Make CD-ROM Recovery makes a bootable (El Torito) disaster recovery image (CDrec.iso), including backups of the linux system to the same CD-ROM (or CD-RW) if space permits, or to a multi-volume CD-ROM set. Otherwise, the backups can be stored on another local disk, NFS disk or (remote) tape.
After a disaster (disk crash or system intrusion) the system can be booted from the CD-ROM and one can restore the complete system as it was (at the time mkCDrec was run) with the command /etc/recovery/start-restore.sh
Disk cloning (clone-dsk.sh script) allows one to restore a disk to another disk (the destination disk does not have to be of the same size as it calculates the partition layout itself). A thrid script, restore-fs.sh, will restore only one filesystem to a partition of your choice, and the user can choose with which filesystem the partition has to be formatted.
Linux 2.2.x, 2.4.x and 2.6.x kernels are supported, and if size of the kernel is not too big a boot floppy can be made, otherwise a 2.88 Mb boot floppy will be emulated on CD-ROM.
MkCDrec supports ext2 , ext3, minix, xfs , jfs, reiserfs file systems, LVM and software RAID (multiple devices). Each file system is backed up as a compressed tar archive (including the tar log). The compress program used is the users choice (compress, gzip, bzip2, lzop,...)
But there is more: msdos, fat, vfat and ntfs mounted partitions are recognized and are saved as compressed dumps (on CD, tape, etc.)
The user has the possibility to encrypt all backups with openssl if desired (see the Config.sh configuration file for more information).
To restore your system completely just boot from the first CD-ROM made by mkCDrec and type "/etc/recovery/start-restore.sh " to restore everything from CD. Automatic Disaster Recovery and One Button Disaster Recovery are supported by mkCDrec too.
With the clone-dsk.sh script one can restore selective a disk or partitions to another free disk.
mkCDrec supports IDE (inclusive ATA), SCSI disks, hardware RAID based disks (e.g. Compaq SMART2 Disk Array), LVM and software RAID. With an El-Torito CD-ROM you can boot from an IDE or SCSI based CD-ROM drive on IA32/64, powermac and x86_64 GNU/Linux based computer systems only.
