Q Desktop Services 0.4.4
QDS is a library for Qt developers which provides cross-platform access to additional features of the various desktop APIs. more>>
The QDS library allows Qt applications to access features provided in common desktop APIs in a portable way, without requiring dependencies on any desktop platform library.
This is especially useful for applications targeting the Unix desktops, because Qt/X11 is very generic and only provides features it can implement on all sub platforms. All library code is licenced under 2-clause BSD licence.
Service implementations are loaded from plugins which link to the respective desktop libraries. The plugin to use can be specified on the applications commandline, in the QDS configuration file or QDS can try to autodetect the currently running platform.
Enhancements:
- Autodetection to use GNOME plugin in case GNOME_DESKTOP_SESSION_ID is set
- Replaced the primitive example application with a simple but network aware text editor application
- Support for wildcards in mailcap entries

x-Desktop 1.5
x-Desktop is a development of browser-only application frontends. more>>
This project comprises a library for developing thin client application frontends using a browser. It helps developers creating (neat) application interfaces (GUI) for inter/intra- and extranet applications.
Main features:
- 100% Browser based & no plugins required
- Supports all Operating Systems providing a DOM2 / Javascript Support Browser
- Simple, well documented Object Interface
- Customizable desktop & window skins
Following Browsers are currently supported:
- Mozilla 1.2+
- Firefox
- K-Meleon 0.7+
- Netscape 7.0+
- Avant 7.0+
- Microsoft IE6.0+
- Galeon 1.2+
- OSX: Camino 0.7+
A note to Konqueror / Safari users: We do respect the work of the Open Source community, especially the K-Teams. However we did not have the time to dig too much into why Konqueror does not work as the others. But because Mozilla 1.x does work and comes with most Linux boxes, we focused on development of the supported browsers, rather than finding the key issues of this problem.
A note to Opera fans: Unfortunately the css and javascript support of all current versions does not allow many operations we do need (like dynamic clipping etc.) We did hope that the upcoming Opera 7.x version can be included as well. But so it is not the case.
Despite the success of NS 4.x it is clearly in excess of age. Therefore we are sorry to inform that NS 4.x or any prior versions of above mentioned browser cannot be used. In addition, the javascript engine of NS7.x seems to be very slow when moving or resizing desktop windows.

desktop-data-model 1.2.5
desktop-data-model is a GNOME wrapper library. more>> desktop-data-model 1.2.5 is a versatile software which functions as a GNOME wrapper library.
Installation: The simplest way to compile this package is:
- `cd to the directory containing the packages source code and type `./configure to configure the package for your system.
- Running `configure might take a while. While running, it prints some messages telling which features it is checking for.
- Type `make to compile the package.
- Optionally, type `make check to run any self-tests that come with the package.
- Type `make install to install the programs and any data files and
- documentation.
- You can remove the program binaries and object files from the source code directory by typing `make clean. To also remove the files that `configure created (so you can compile the package for a different kind of computer), type `make disclean. There is also a `make maintainer-clean target, but that is intended mainly for the packages developers. If you use it, you may have to get all sorts of other programs in order to regenerate files that came with the distribution.

Wallpaper Tray 0.5.4
Wallpaper Tray is a wallpaper utility that sits on the GNOME panel. more>>
Wallpaper Tray is a wallpaper utility that sits on the GNOME panel.
The project gives you a random wallpaper from a chosen directory at logon, on a timer, and allows you to select a new wallpaper at random from its menu.
UPDATE: I have had reports from users on Ubuntu that Wallpaper Tray is broken, something about the config dialog not appearing. It works fine on FC5. It also works on FC6. I suspect that the Ubuntu package needs rebuilding, hopefully this will happen for 0.5.3.
From here on in, I wont be touch packages, I will support the Autopackage project, which is designed to support the distribution of non core programs like mine.
he Applet lets you add directories, wallpapers are then randomly selected at login or at a given interval. You can also search your wallpaper collection, and delete wallpapers you dont like anymore.
Wallpaper Tray, as the name suggests, used to be live in the Notification Area. The Notification Area was never really meant for programs such as this, so the latest release uses the Gnome Panel. The last of 0.4.x series is still available however, for those that would rather stick with this way of working.
