Wmbattery
Wmbattery displays the status of your laptops battery in a small icon. more>>
Wmbattery displays the status of your laptops battery in a small icon. This includes if it is plugged in, if the battery is charging, how many minutes of battery life remain, battery life remaining (with both a percentage and a graph), and battery status (high - green, low - yellow, or critical - red).
Theres nothing in the program that makes it require WindowMaker, except maybe the look. It can be docked in WindowMaker or Aftersteps dock.
Wmbattery is based heavily on wmapm by Chris D. Faulhaber.
Enhancements:
- Improved icon layout. I crammed the same information into less space while making the icon more elegant and visually pleasing (IMHO).
- Easier to drag onto dock.
- It consumes a little less memory.
- Uses only 10 colors.
- ACPI support, including multiple battery support and battery charging completion countdown timer.
- Support for getting battery status from the sonypi driver instead of APM, for some Sony laptops that do not have apm support.
- Can make its own estimatess of time remaining or time until full charge, even if APM does not.

libRTCTimer 0.0.8
libRTCTimer is a C++ timer class similar to the Timer class included with Java. more>>
libRTCTimer is a library that provides high resolution and high accuracy timing-mechanisms for C++ under linux.
This is achieved by using the internal RTC as timing-device. The library is developed to be easy to use. This includes mainly two things:
1. The whole functionality of the library should be accessible with just a few calls. All the internal stuff is hidden from the coder.
2. The library should be well documented.
WARNING: If the program using libRTCTimer does not have root-privileges (either by executing it as root or by setting the prog suid root) the highest supported resolution is 64Hz. This is not due to a limitation of this implementation! Its a linux restriction.
I dont know how this is handled by other os!
Main features:
- Millisecond resolution and even better accuracy! (Depends on your privileges and the RTC in you box!)
- Easy to use interface with only 2 classes and just a few methods to get it on.
- Complete documentation using doxygen.
- Tunable start of the tasks. (Important if you write tasks that have to deal with latencies!)
Usage:
Using libRTCTimer is very simple. You need two things:
- One instance of the class RTCTimer
- One instance of a class that derives from RTCTask
First you write a class that derives from RTCTask. This class has a virtual method called "task". The only thing you have to do is overriding this method. The code of that method is what gets executed.
Enhancements:
- This release fixes some minor bugs....

labTimer 0.0.9
labTimer is a set of timer suited to black and white film processing. more>>
labTimer is a set of timer suited to black and white film processing. At the moment, the program can follow a basic sequence of development, fixing, and washing, with nice countdowns and reminders.
Self processing of black and white films is an unexciting, dull and tedious task. If you are here, you probably already know what I mean. Taking pictures, framing, sensing the light, choosing models and points of view is creative. Turning on the red light, making a contact sheet, selecting snapshots and printing a good negative with carefully forethought masking is creative. But between the shooting and the the proud display of the print, stands the prosaic duty of processing the film.
If youre so new to photography, or masochistic enough, as to wonder why, the answer is that film processing is done inside a dark, sealed, cylinder. From the moment you open the film canister in the complete darkness, until the end of the processing, you have zero opportunity to willingly influence the result. Therefore, processing is a completely "industrialized" process, where you have to follow blindly some procedures and just hope the result will match your expectations.
Dont misinterpret me ! During that process, there are numerous options to influence the outcome, but parameters cannot be chosen depending on the current state of the film. Therefore the choice of the values given to those parameters depends on previous results, manufacturers figures, and personal experience. Todays industrial norms are so strict that processing a film can be considered deterministic. If the pictures are ultimately over or under exposed, blurred or whatever, then its the photographers sole responsability.

high-resolution-timer 1.0
high-resolution-timer is a library with Java and C++ wrappers to implement high resolution timers. more>>
high-resolution-timer is a library with Java and C++ wrappers to implement high . These timers can be used, for example, to count the ticks when doing performance analysis.
high-resolution-timer exploits the system dependent timers/clocks and provides a timer-like interface to the same. The attached file has build scripts for Linux and Solaris. There is also a Java wrapper over the library, which uses JNI to use the timer interfaces.
Enhancements:
- The library is a basic approach to design a base for the performance library.
- It has not yet taken into consideration the details of library preloads, etc.
- At load time, the library initializes itself with the timer with the least avg resolution.
- At unload time, the library cleans up by freeing any allocated memory.
- The library provides a getErrorMessage function to let the user know the detailed report of the error.
- The library exports start / stop JNI wrappers .

TimeTrack 1.1.4
TimeTrack is a program to track time in a modular, project- oriented way. more>>
TimeTrack is a program to track time in a modular, project-oriented way. A single timer has the ability to help you track your time over a whole project through maintaining a list of tripels that consist of starttime, endtime and a description field.
You can arrange your timers over several tabs, just as you like. Saving and loading happens through XML Files. Timetracker also has the ability to import single timers from other files to merge your timerdata with other timerdata.
Main features:
New Timer:
- This button spawns a new Timer on the current tab. Just click it and you can start tracking.
New Tab:
- This buttons spawns a new Tab. Youll be asked for the name of the new tab before it is created.
Rename Tab:
- This button renames the current Tab.
Close all:
- This button closes all tabs and running timers WITHOUT saving.
One of the new functions of 1.1 is the ability to save a running timer which will pe persistent even through reboots and shutdowns through the usage of timestamps. This is a useful feature especially for notebook users with limited energy resources.
Starting with V1.1.1, TimeTrack is featuring a generic report generator, which aids you in your documentation needs by - well - simply building reports out of your tracked time data.

DONT Let It Burn! (1-click Timer) 1.0
DONT Let It Burn! (1-click Timer) script is just a very basic, 1-click alarm clock. more>>
DONT Let It Burn! (1-click Timer) script is just a very basic, 1-click alarm clock. You set the number of minutes and at that time a sound (which you need to set) will be played. No application is started, the sound is played through the aplay command, so its independent from the player you have installed.
Why?
I know there are tons of much better alarm clocks out there. In fact, this is not supposed to be an alarm clock. Its just a sort of kitchen timer, for computer addicted.
My problem was that i was burning all my food (kinda following, too literally, what Usher says in his song "Let it burn!").
After throwing something in the oven or putting on the cookers i use to go back working on the PC and every time i forget about the food. I cant be bother to set a "full alarm clock", need something REALLY fast that reminds me about the food just some minutes later (and if possible i prefer that such reminder is not the horn of the firemen coming to extinguish the fire i caused)
Installation:
Place dont_let_it_burn.desktop in /home/YOUR_USERNAME/.kde/share/apps/konqueror/servicemenus
Place dont_let_it_burn.sh in /home/YOUR_USERNAME/bin
Place dont_let_it_burn.au in /home/YOUR_USERNAME/bin
IMPORTANT: you need to point to a valid audio file, supported bu the apply command (wav or au for example). I have included a small sample file, dont_let_it_burn.au, if you place it in the bin directory then you dont need to do anything else. If you want another file just modify dont_let_it_burn.sh setting a valid path in the variable FULL_PATH_TO_AUDIO_FILE

The Circle 0.41c
The Circle is an open source scalable decentralized peer to peer application. more>>
The Circle is an open source scalable decentralized peer to peer application. What does that mean? Well, theres no central authority running the show. No entry taxes either, no censorship, and (in theory) no weak point which can break the whole system.
No one even owns the source code. As long as there is one Circle peer running, anywhere in the world, theres still a network.
Main features:
- Share files
- Send instant messages and chat IRC-style
- Put together your own personalized, trust based news service
- Proxy Debian package downloads
The Circle is written in Python. It runs on Linux and Windows. (in fact, there is very little operating system specific code, so it will most likely work on any system that supports Python)
Scalability
At the core of the Circle is a decentralized hashtable, or "Chord". This table allows users to search for files in logarithmic time, based on keywords. This means that the Circle does not have the scalability problems of Gnutella style network (such as Kazaa, eDonkey), while also avoiding the need for a central server and therefore a single point of failure. Details of its operation are given in the "Technical Details" section below.
Privacy
The Circle does have the ability to post fully anonymous news a la Freenet. However, the file-sharing protocol isnt entirely anonymous. People will be able to work out your IP address.
In order to protect user privacy, the Circle includes a Digital Rights Management system. Although everybody can search your files by their keywords, you may choose which users are authorized to download them. An unauthorized third party has access only to the names of your files, not to their content. Needless to say, we expect you to use this system in order to prevent copyright infringement, while allowing private copy.
Note: If we become aware that you are trying to share snuff or child pornography, we will be able to work out your IP and from that your location and identity, and report you to the police and/or your ISP. Snuff and child pornography are things we think any reasonable person considers to be evil (its an issue quite separate from the debate over copyright).
