RockBot 6
Rockbot is a C irc robot initally based on comstuds Combot. more>>
RockBot is a fully functional multi-channel bot for IRC. It has hundreds of usefull commands for managing channels, amusing your friends, and protecting ownership. It is a good alternitive to an eggdrop type bot.
DCC model of rockbox is different like eggdrop. In RockBot YOU NEVER initiate a DCC chat with the bot. In all cases the bot will send you a DCC chat request when it needs one due to the type of data its returning. If you have trouble with DCCs it may be the bot cannotdetermine its true IP address on the machine. Try playing with "#define PPP" in config.h.
Enhancements:
- The data files and memory model were totally re-written. RockBot now uses a multiple-channel scheme for keeping track of users, and also allows one user to store multiple hostmasks under one "handle". There is also a "global" config that controls the default settings for channels and high level bot users. In order to diferentiate
- between global commands and local channel commands the following syntax has been implimented:
- (Note: This example assumes CMDCHAR is !)
- Sent to a channel -> !userlist = userlist of the channel typed in
- Sent to a channel -> !#mychannel userlist = userlist of #mychannel
- Sent to a channel -> !!userlist = global userlist
- ---
- Privmsg to bot -> #mychan userlist = userlist of #mychan
- Privmsg to bot -> !userlist = global userlist
- ---
- When you use JOIN a data file will be created to contain the new channels users, settings, topic etc. The LEAVE command parts the bot but does NOT remove the datafiles, however REMCHAN does.

Main features:
Detaching
- ZNC will stay on IRC even while you are offline.
Multiple Users
- You can add additional users under one running process. Useful for public shells that limit background processes.
Multiple Clients
- Connect to the same user with as many clients as you want.
Playback Buffers
- Stay up-to-date with what happened while you were detached.
SSL
- Encryption for both the listen port and connecting to IRC servers.

EPIC4 2.4
EPIC4 is a new direction in ircII development. more>>
EPIC4 is a new direction in ircII development. No longer is EPIC 100% backwards compatable with ircII, but instead we have chosen to find those things where compatability is undesirable, and fix them.
No gratuitous incompatabilities have been added, but lots of new code has been added to make EPIC the best ircII client we could make.
EPIC4 is derived directly from EPIC3, which was itself derived from IRC-II which is currently maintained by Matthew Green, and includes in whole all the additions included in the "plus" clients by Jeremy Nelson and all of the modifications in the "mod" clients by Jake Khuon.
EPIC is currently maintained by EPIC Software Labs (ESL), comprised of Jeremy Nelson, Jake Kuhon, Robert Chady, and a cast of a dozen others.
Main features:
- EPIC is completely safe: There are no hidden trap doors. We value your trust, and will not do anything to abuse it.
- EPIC is programmable: While ircII does contain a wide range of commands and functions, several glaring ommisions exist, which EPIC has attempted to fill, making the ircII language complete, precise, and efficient.
- EPIC supports bots: We do not agree with those who feel that script bots are all the evil of irc, and we feel that scripts bots must not be squelched by those who have the stranglehold of control on irc. EPIC will support bots for as long as we maintain it.
- EPIC is not anal retentive: EPIC allows you to do EVERYTHING that the irc protocol (RFC 1459) allows, and does not place any arbitrary restrictions upon you. EPIC *does* fully comply with the protocol as shipped and does not allow you to do anything that is deemed illegal by the protocol.
- EPIC is complete: EPIC supplies over 100 various functions and commands which allow you to do things very quickly that required very large or slow scripts in the past.
- EPIC is fully ANSI-compliant. Most current versions of the stock client do have full prototyping for all functions, which has the same net effect as the work we have done. We, however, chose to provide both a "old" style (k&r) function header and a "new" style (ansi) function header with every function and provide every extern function a prototype in a header file.
- EPIC is getting smaller and faster. Changes are continually underway to provide a faster client with more functionality while using less CPU cycles. While these may appear to be conflicting goals, the whole point of the EPIC project is to provide the best client that runs as well as can be managed.
Enhancements:
- Change the scary "ERROR --" messages to "INFO --" and hide for dcc and exec.
- Remove hardcoded limits on size of status expandos
- Built in history has been moved to a script implementation
- Translation support fixed for russian users
- Very many commands, functions, sets, moved from builtin to builtins script.
- A new "loadformats" script to use implied on hooks.
- Bug fixes and a multitude of smaller changes.

sirc 2.211
sirc is an IRC (Internet Relay Chat) client for Unix programmed and programmable in perl, by Roger Espel Llima (aka orabidoo). more>>
sirc is an IRC (Internet Relay Chat) client for Unix programmed and programmable in perl,
by Roger Espel Llima (aka orabidoo). sirc is much smaller than most clients, and yet has most of their features.
Its divided in two parts, a dumb-mode (meaning, no full screen interface) client, dsirc, that can be used stand-alone, programmed in perl, and a separate split-screen front end in C, called ssfe.
The main point of running this client is that you can get a reasonable ircII-like interface on an account with a properly installed perl interpreter, with the perl client taking about 60k (and its usable on its own if you dont have access to a C compiler) and with the interface, once compiled, taking just another 30 or 40k. The two together, while lacking the huge complexity of ircII, make a very usable client. Youll find that you can do many and complicated things with sirc.
Main features:
- ircII-like user interface with command-line editing and history, and with enhancements like built-in "tabkey" handling, arrow keys, message redirection, and highlighting of private messages.
- All the usual IRC features, including /notify, /ignore, a hold mode, /server, /help, /set ...
- A number of functions which are usually defined as aliases are builtin in sirc, like /o to give ops or /w to do a /whois.
- Support for connections through SOCKS proxies, including initiating DCC connections.
- Compatible with all nets, including Undernets, extensions like /map.
- Full DCC (Direct Client-to-client Connections) support, to chat without going through the servers (DCC CHAT), and transmit files (DCC SEND and GET). DCC SEND is now 3x faster, and you can rename DCC CHATs.
- Substitution aliases in the vein of /alias b msg BubbleBot
- Possibility to make scripts for sirc, in perl, adding commands and their help, using hooks, userhost queries and timers, and adding new /set variables.
- Example script included, which adds message logging, userhost-on-notify, delayed auto-ops, and a lot of time-saving aliases.
- Possibility to make bots with sirc, and small included example.
- The whole distribution takes just 170k, including the docs. Once installed it takes about 110k of disk space.
- All the full-screen handling and command-line editing is done by a front-end in C which can be used with other programs than sirc, so you can (for example) read your mail with an IRC-like interface
- Compatible with perl versions 4 and 5.
- Quick and easy installation:
- gunzip sirc-2.211.tar.gz ; tar -xvf sirc-2.211.tar ; cd sirc-2.211 ; ./install
Enhancements:
- stripped anything after ^G from channel names, to be compatible with IRCnet.
- a proper fix will come with the next version...
