iSearch engine 2.0.0

iSearch engine 2.0.0

iSearch is an internal web site search engine. more>>
iSearch engine project is an internal web site search engine.
Built to run as a CGI module, iSearch performs a searching for one or more character sequences ( terms ) within documents in a web site, without the needing of external indexing and filtering tools, like, for example, a database engine.
iSearch performs a real time elaboration of HTML documents in a web site, every time it is invoked. Documents are found, filtered from unnecessary parts, like HTML tag, and then inspected searching for the input terms.
iSearch acts under the directives set in its configuration file. You can set one or more starting search path, exclude file or directories from scanning, set your own output templates, and so on.
So if you want to add an internal search engine in your web site, iSearch is one of your possible solutions.
iSearch is written in C and the source code is based on Yed technology.
Main features:
- iSearch is a CGI module written in C, available for both GNU/Linux and Windows environment.
- iSearch latest release has been developed and tested within an Apache HTTP server. OS involved are Slackware GNU/Linux and Windows XP SP2, both on a i686 architecture.
- When invoked, iSearch scans recursively directories in a web site extracting files so-called documents. In every document extracted, iSearch performs a filtering to delete unnecessary information, like HTML tags. Then, the pure resulting text is inspected searching for the characters sequences received in input, so-called terms.
- A term can be a single word, but also a sequence of words enclosed with character "; in this latter case, the sequence will be treated as a single term ( i.e. "sowing the seeds of love" ).
- All documents containing all the terms will be output according to user templates and related environment.
- All terms are matched in boolean AND mode: only a document containing all terms is considered as a matched document.
- All terms are matched in case-insensitive mode.
Enhancements:
- The ID Input parameter is now optional.
- If omitted, it defaults to the first < root > element of the configuration.
- Handling of eventual error explanation string was added in displaying error templates, through the new token "%det".
- Its now possible to search for strings enclosed with quotation marks (").
- The source code has been totally reorganized.
- The < replace > element was added in the configuration file.
- This element contains a list of strings to replace or cut from documents to inspect.

Mckoi SQL Database 1.0.3

Mckoi SQL Database 1.0.3

Mckoi SQL Database is a Java relational database management system. more>>
Mckoi SQL Database is a full featured SQL-92 relational database management system written in Java.

The software can operate as either a dedicated multi-client, multi-threaded database server, or can be used as an embedded database inside a Java application.

The engine is designed to be easy to use and maintain and versatile for sophisticated database development tasks. The software provides a JDBC 2.0 driver.

To use Mckoi SQL Database, you will need a JavaTM runtime environment version 1.2 or greater. Sun provides Java runtimes for Win32, Solaris and Linux from their website at http://www.javasoft.com/j2se/. IBM also provides various Java runtimes for a number of platforms at http://www.ibm.com/java/jdk/download/.

When Java has been installed on your system, unpack the mckoi distribution file to a directory in your file system. Then you are ready to create a database and develop your database application.

Creating A Database

Before you can begin development of your database application, you will need to create and configure a blank database. The database configuration file describes all of the configurable properties of the database (details of the database configuration file are covered in the next section). The software ships with a default configuration that looks for a database at path ./data in your filesystem.

To create a database using the default configuration with an admin username of admin_user and password aupass00, go to a prompt, change to the Mckoi Database distribution directory and type:

java -jar mckoidb.jar -create "admin_user" "aupass00"

We do not advise using either this username or password in a production system. The user created here has full control over every aspect of the database so choose a username / password carefully.

When the command has completed, a sub-directory called data will have been generated. This directory is used to store data from the database. A sub-directory called log is also generated which stores debugging and query log information.

Database Configuration

When you run the mckoidb.jar package, it looks for a file named db.conf in the current directory. This file contains a number of variables that determine where the database looks for information, as well as other user-definable properties. The configuration file can be renamed and copied to a different location. If you change the configuration file location, you must supply the location when you run the database;

java -jar mckoidb.jar -conf [location of conf file] .....

You can edit the configuration file with a text editor. The default configuration file that ships with the software contains extensive comments on what each variable does.

Expose PHP template engine 1.1.2

Expose PHP template engine 1.1.2

Expose is a template engine written in PHP. more>>
Expose PHP template engine is a template engine written in PHP. A template is a special kind of document that describes how a page will look like. How does this differ from writing webpages/applications using ordinary PHP files?
A template does not contain code to fetch data from a database or deal with forms. It only contains code how this data is transformed to HTML.
Some reasons to use the Expose template engine:
- Application logic and presentation is separated. It makes your code much more beautiful and manageable.
- Templates are fed only the parameters you specifiy and support only a subset of native PHP functions. This means safer code and your designers will be happier, because they dont have to inject their HTML in application code.
- Expose supports server- and client-sided caching. This will considerably cut down on server/database load and reduces bandwidth.
- Expose has built-in locale support. Translators can work with separate files and never need to touch application files or templates. Writing applications in multiple languages has become easier than ever before!
- Plugins simplify common tasks like inserting a select box or date picker in your page.
- The template script language is based on PHP, which means you dont have to learn a new language.
Enhancements:
- The Boolean "and" (&&) operator is now properly recognized.
- Several array PHP functions are now registered at default.
- The first newline after the close tag (?>) is now stripped like expected.
- The built-in display() template function now correctly passes additional parameters to the included template.
