Free database backups software for linux

DYS Backup is just a small script to backup your system.
You can ajust it to your needs as you like. It is made for me, but you are free to use it in the terms of the GNU General Public License.
Enhancements:
- Backups can be rotated and timestamped.
- Self encryption with GPG can be done.
- Pre and post script functions can be used.
- Package data was added for Red Hat/Fedora.
- Conditional compression of encryption is used.
- The user may choose between bzip2 and gzip.

aB Backup Tools is a toolset for creating and maintaining backups and recoveries of important data on your system.
Enhancements:
- memory leaks fixed,
- options optimized,
- some look changes.

Simple Backup is a shell script to create basic backups using tar, grep, sed, and bash.

Simple Backup works by using a file that contains the folders to be backed up and a file that contains expressions to exclude certain folders/files.

Usage: backup.sh < backuplist > < excludelist >

Media Database is a media database that uses PHP for the GUI and MySQL for data storage.

It has movie, series, and anime listings. Media Database has lending and wishlist capabilities.

Installation:

Unpack mediadb-*.tar.gz to www dir or public_html dir.
Edit config.php, change mysql_user_name, mysql_password and mysql_server_host to match your MySQL database username, password and host.
run url: http://url_to_mediadatabase/install_mediadb.php, and follow the link and log in as admin and make default yourself a user.

Cedar Backup is a Python package that supports backups of files on local and remote hosts to CD-R or CD-RW media over a secure network connection. Cedar Backup project also includes extensions that understand how to back up MySQL databases and Subversion repositories, and it can be easily extended to support other data sources, as well.
The package is focused around weekly backups to a single disc, with the expectation that the disc will be changed or overwritten at the beginning of each week. If your hardware is new enough, Cedar Backup can write multisession discs, allowing you to add to a disc in a daily fashion. Directories are backed up using tar and may be compressed using gzip or bzip2.
There are many different backup software implementations out there in the free-and open-source world. Cedar Backup aims to fill a niche: it aims to be a good fit for people who need to back up a limited amount of important data to CD-R or CD-RW on a regular basis.
Cedar Backup isnt for you if you want to back up your MP3 collection every night, or if you want to back up a few hundred machines. However, if you administer a small set machines and you want to run daily incremental backups for things like system configuration, current email, small web sites, or a CVS repository, then Cedar Backup is probably worth your time.
Cedar Backup has been developed on a Debian GNU/Linux system and is currently supported only on Debian and other Linux systems. However, since it is written in portable Python, it should in theory run without too many problems on other UNIX-like systems which have a working version of the cdrecord and mkisofs utilities.

Generator is an command line application written in java that have the goal to make easy the construction of little applications that needs some database objects stuff.
Database Bean Generator isnt a replacement of complex object persistence solutions, like hibernate or TopLink but it covers a different target. The little java web applications that dont use sofisticated persistence options.
Generator invocation is simple, just type:
java -jar generator.jar -xml (config-file.xml)
where config-file is a xml config file with the definitions to connect to the database and generate the bean classes.

- Generates classes to access via custom connection resources to database tables.
- Configuration files are in clear xml format and can be embedded or separate.
- Supports individual or global field updates.
- Supports custom set of Exceptions.
- Provides toXML function for each entity generated.
- Provides automatic generation of finders coonfigured in the xml configuration file.
- Provides some utility static methods via the BdUtils.java class generation.
- Generates an xml file with the database structure.
- Supports configuration of the methods that produces XML (String as CDATA, data as attributes or values, ...)
- Initial support for MySQL and Oracle (Oracle support is in initial stage at this moment).
- Provides an ant task for automatic integration builds.
- Supports transparent renaming of the generated class individual fields.
- Supports normal or CDATA output in individual fields.
