Apple Disk Transfer ProDOS 1.0.2
Apple Disk Transfer ProDOS transfers diskettes and logical disk images between Apple ][-era computers and the modern world. more>>
Main features:
- Compatibility with any device ProDOS can read
- Compatibility with any Apple ][ (or clone) computer with 64k memory
- Compatibility with many logical disk image formats: .DSK, .PO, .NIB, 2IMG
- Server compatibility with original ADT client program
- Server compatibility with Windows, Mac OSX, Linux, and probably Solaris
- Ability to bootstrap an Apple ][ from bare metal over serial or cassette ports
- Ability to send floppies in "batch" mode without having to name each one
Server
The server program runs on a computer capable of running Java. Depending on how you want to connect to your Apple, you might also need a serial port and cables, an Uthernet card for your apple, or a couple of audio patch cables. The server offers a compact user interface that shows what communications are taking place between the host and the Apple ][.
The servers primary role is to send and receive disk images as requested from the client. But if you have recently acquired an Apple and a disk drive, and you have no software for it - youre in a bit of a tricky situation if you want to move software from the Internet all the way to your shiny new Apple. ADTPros server can help get you get bootstrapped.
Client
The client side runs on the Apple ][. It handles most of the user interaction. When choosing disks/volumes to transfer, anything that ProDOS can see is fair game. Transferring data occurs with a 20k buffer on the Apple, so all transfers are broken up into 20k chunks. A progress indicator shows how far it is into the current chunk, as well as a running count of the total progress.
Enhancements:
- This release has been enhanced with Jean-Marc Boutillon (Deckard)s FASTDSK fast Disk II reading routines.
- This results in a speed boost of 25%-33% for Disk II to host transfers.
- Bootstrapping operations have been reduced, as there is no longer a dependency on ProDOS BASIC.

SQuirreL SQL Client 2.5.1
SQuirreL SQL Client is a graphical Java program that will allow you to view the structure of a JDBC compliant database. more>>
SQuirreLs functionality can be extended through the use of plugins. A short introduction can be found here. To see the change history (including changes not yet released) click here.
Susan Cline graciously took the time to document the steps she followed to setup an Apache Derby database from scratch and use the SQuirreL SQL Client to explore it.
Quite some time ago Kulvir Singh Bhogal wrote a great tutorial on SQuirreL and published it at the IBM developerWorks site. He has kindly allowed us to mirror it locally. The tutorial is not really up to date but especially for doing the first steps it is still of help.
SQuirrel was originally released under the GNU General Public License. Since version 1.1beta2 it has been released under the GNU Lesser General Public License.
Whats New in This Release:
1716859 Cant see data in content tab or row count tab (MS SQLServer databases
with a dash ("-") in their name would cause the content tab or row count
tabs to render no data.
1714476: (DB copy uses wrong case for table names) The copy operation would
sometimes fail to select records from the source table. Since the
case for the source table is always known to be correct, the plugin
no longer erroneously attempts to correct the case.
1700093: Formatter fails for insert script with multiple subselects
Refactoring Plugin: SQL-Server needs eol between GO and statement.
Fixed bug which appeared while editing tables in PostgreSQL 8.1. If the table
was created without an OID column, the last column would not be editable.
Fix for issue where dates arent correctly displayed or updated when using
treat date as timestamp pref in the SQl Editor result panel.
Use the last directory that a file was imported from when importing additional
files for binary fields.
1699294: Squirrel imports BLOB, but does not update data
Oracle Plugin: Handle slashes when they are used as statement separators.
137984 (Bug in alias delete) The problem was that notifications were being
sent to the alias drop-down that the item was being deleted which trigger an
update and new selection forcing the connect to alias window to be launched.
Now, the alias drop down is disabled while the update is happening and enabled
immediately afterward.

- Support for NetBSD, FreeBSD, OpenBSD and Linux.
Modules:
These modules are currently available for RSS item extraction:
mod_pgsql
This module allows the RSS daemon (rssd) to extract items for RSS feeds from a PostgreSQL database. It can select an entire column as description field for the feed, or base it on a pre-formated string in which variables are replaced with values from columns returned in the SQL query.
This module also support triggering, where any client connected to the same database is able to trigger RSSD to fetch a new update via the SQL LISTEN and NOTIFY functions.
mod_mysql
This module integrates RSSD with the MySQL database, allowing it to produce RSS feeds based on any information stored in databases running on MySQL. The module allows the user to run just about any SQL query supported by the database to extract the needed information to create a feed.
Mod_mysql does also support pre-formated strings to generate the description for each RSS item it produces.
mod_mimersql
This module allows the RSS daemon to fetch items from the MimerSQL database.
The module allows the user to run just about any SQL query supported by the database to extract the needed information to create a feed.
Mod_mimersql does also support pre-formated strings to generate the description for each RSS item it produces.
mod_template
This is a template-module that can be used as a starting-point when developing new modules. It is usable, but does not really provide a usable feature.

XML::DB::DatabaseManager 0.02
XML::DB::DatabaseManager is an approximation to the XML:DB DatabaseManager. more>>
SYNOPSIS
use XML::DB::DatabaseManager;
my $driver = Xindice; my $url = http://localhost:4080;
eval{ $dbm = new XML::DB::DatabaseManager(); $dbm->registerDatabase($driver); $col = $dbm->getCollection("xmldb:$driver:$url/db/test"); ...... };
if ($@){ die $@; }
deregisterDatabase($driver);
This is the initial class to use to get access to the XML:DB modules, an approximate implementation of the XML:DB API defined for Java at http://www.xmldb.org. This implementation is designed to give a uniform Perl access over XML-RPC to both of the current free native XML databases, eXist and Xindice, as well as providing the same front-end for a plain file-system.
Unlike the DatabaseManager defined in the XML:DB API (which is a Factory), this simply registers driver names, generating a new Database instance for each request. Multiple database drivers can be used simultaneously (eg. to transfer data from one database to another). The drivers themselves are rather confusingly called Databases in this system.
Only one DatabaseManager can be instantiated in a program.
Haskell Database Connectivity 1.1.2.0
Haskell Database Connectivity project provides an abstraction layer between Haskell programs and SQL relational databases. more>>
HDBC is modeled loosely on Perls DBI interface http://search.cpan.org/~timb/DBI/DBI.pm, though it has also been influenced by Pythons DB-API v2, JDBC in Java, and HSQL in Haskell.
HDBC is a from-scratch effort. It is not a reimplementation of HSQL, though its purpose is the same.
Main features:
- Ability to use replacable parameters to let one query be executed multiple times (eliminates the need for an escape function)
- Ability to access returned rows by column number
- Ability to read data from the SQL server on-demand rather than reading the entire result set up front
- HUnit testsuite for each backend driver
- Well-defined standard API and easy backend driver implementation
- Lazy reading of the entire result set (think hGetContents, but for the results of SELECT) (see sFetchAllRows)
- Support for translation between Haskell and SQL types
- Support for querying database server properties
- Add-on package (hdbc-missingh) to integrate with MissingH, providing a database backend for AnyDBM.
- Support for querying metadata such as column names.
- Support for querying additional metadata (column types, etc.)

Mimer SQL Engine for liunx 9.3.8
This article describes some of the highlights introduced in Mimer SQL Engine 9. As always, we have a mission to constantly improve performance and to keep up with the latest in database more>> This article describes some of the highlights introduced in Mimer SQL Engine 9. As always, we have a mission to constantly improve performance and to keep up with the latest in database standardization.
Binary and Character Large Objects (BLOBs/CLOBs/NCLOBs)
Mimer SQL Engine 9 has an efficient implementation of the SQL-99 data types BINARY LARGE OBJECT (BLOB) and CHARACTER LARGE OBJECT (CLOB). The data type NATIONAL CHARACTER LARGE OBJECT (NCLOB) was introduced in Mimer SQL 9.2. NCLOB is a data type where Unicode character data can be stored in standardized format, thus enabling a true portability between different platforms (e.g. in a client/server application with a heterogeneous client environment, for example, both Linux and Windows clients). All BLOBs, CLOBs and NCLOBs are stored in the Mimer SQL Engine database and are included in the same transaction control, access control and backup/restore system as more traditional business data.
The maximum size of a BLOB/CLOB/NCLOB is in practice unlimited (the only limitation is the maximum table size in Mimer SQL Engine; 8 TBytes!).
Mimer SQL Engine implements several functions for optimising the performance for insert, select, update, and delete of BLOBs/CLOBs/NCLOBs. When retrieving a BLOB/CLOB/NCLOB over a network, the large object is transferred directly from Mimer SQL Engines communication buffers to the application requesting the BLOB/CLOB/NCLOB without any intermediate temporary storage.
When large objects are accessed from Mimer SQL Engine, the objects are split into packages optimised for best possible performance e.g. over a network. The objects are also accessed asynchronously; the application can read the first packages of the BLOB/CLOB/NCLOB while Mimer SQL Engine delivers the rest of the object.<<less
assniffer 0.1 Alpha
assniffer is an auto saving sniffer for windows and linux. more>>
assniffer can monitor (using pcap) a network, and for every HTTP transfer it sees, save a copy of the transferred data.
This is less for sinister uses, and more for taking advantage of the already-transferred data that your computer may be exposed to.
Linux users should install libpcap, and tools to enable compiling.
Compilation:
- Go to the source/assniffer directory and type make.
