Free data compression library software for linux

Datalink library for Linux uses the SVGAlib to send data to the Timex DataLink watches.
You will need SVGAlib installed and the development headers and libraries for SVGAlib to compile against.
Compiling:
Type make depend to make the dependences.
$ make depend
Then just type `make` on the command line.
$ make
Installing:
Type `make install` on the command line.
% make install
The default locations of the installed programs are:

Enhancements:
- Fixed the setwatch options of -app and +app to say appointments instead of wristapp.
- setwatch was trying to run svgablink with -150S instead of -150s
- The -file (for creating a DEBUGOUTPUT) was broken, fixed.

Generic Data Structures Library (GDSL) is a collection of routines for generic data structures manipulation.
Generic Data Structures Library is a portable and re-entrant library fully written from scratch in pure ANSI C. It is designed to offer for C programmers common data structures with powerful algorithms, and hidden implementation.
Available structures are lists, queues, stacks, hash tables, binary trees, binary search trees, red-black trees, 2D arrays, and permutations.
GDSL provides a modern Applications Programming Interface (API) for C programmers, while allowing wrappers to be written for very high level languages.
The library covers the following data structures:
- Low-level doubly-linked nodes
- Low-level doubly-linked low-level lists
- Low level binary trees
- Low level binary search trees
- Binary search trees
- Red-black trees
- 2D arrays

Enhancements:
- A bug that was introduced in gdsl_hash_insert in the previous release was fixed.
- A missing include in gdsl.h was fixed.

Forth Foundation Library, in short FFL is a Forth library. It gives you a collection of words written in (ANS) forth which are useful in areas such as data types, collections, interfaces, development support, and compound modules.
The modules in the library are grouped in five clusters:
- Data types - char
- Collections - single linked list
- Interfaces - crc-32
- Development - struct, unit test
- Compound - nothing yet.
Enhancements:
- This release adds four new features to the library, including an n-tree with an iterator, a SHA-256 module, and a regular expressions module.
- The library will now also run on MinForth.

Vortex Library is a BEEP Core protocol implementation, following the standard definitions in RFC 3080 and RFC 3081.
Vortex Library has a clean and easy-to-use API that allows you to write new protocols or user applications.
Vortex Library has been developed within the Af-Arch project, and it is being used at the data transport layer. However, Vortex Library can be used independently of Af-Arch.
Currently Vortex Library is supported in all Microsoft Windows Platforms as well as Linux.
Enhancements:
- A general update was done to make this release more usable on Microsoft Windows, using Visual Studio compilers.
- Missing support was added to enable getting error codes reported by peer at channel creation.
- Now xml-rpc-gen is able to include user code into the IDL definition that is placed at the resulting XML-RPC server.

Uppaal Timed Automata Parser Library (libutap) is the parser library used by UPPAAL.

dlib C++ Library is a modern C++ library with a focus on portability and program correctness. The library is open source software and is licensed under the Boost Software License.
Main features:
- Everything is Design by Contract all the time. This means there is complete and precise documentation for every class and function. There are also debugging modes that check the preconditions for functions. When this is enabled it will catch the vast majority of bugs caused by calling functions incorrectly or using objects in an incorrect manner.
- Abstraction layers on top of operating system APIs. Specifically: directory navigation, TCP sockets, threading and graphical user interfaces.
- Very portable
- All non ISO C++ code is located in the OS abstraction layers which are as small as possible (about 9% of the library). The rest of the objects in the library are either layered on top of the OS abstraction layer or are pure ISO C++.
- Big/little endian agnostic.
- No assumptions are made about structure byte packing.
- No other packages are required to use the library. Only APIs that are provided by an out of the box OS are used.
- Many container classes. What makes these containers different from what can be found in the STL is how they move objects into and out of themselves. Rather than copying things around everything is moved around by swapping. This allows you to do things like have containers of containers of containers. They also have simpler interfaces. Additionally:
- There are many versions of each container with different performance characteristics so you have great flexibility in choosing exactly what you want.
- Many of the containers perform all their allocations through the memory_manger object and unlike the STL there is no requirement that different instances of the memory manager/allocator be able to free objects allocated from each other. This allows for much more interesting memory manager implementations.
- All containers are serializable.
- A command line parser with the ability to parse and validate command lines with various types of arguments and options.
- Various abstracted objects representing parts of data compression algorithms. Many forms of the PPM algorithm are included.
- A big integer object
- A thread safe logger object styled after the popular Java logger log4j.
- All new threads are pulled from a dynamically sized thread pool. So calls to create_new_thread() are fast.
- A fast matrix object implemented using the expression templates technique.
- A modular testing framework.
- A simple HTTP server object you can use to embed a web server into your applications
Enhancements:
- This release primarily includes updates to the matrix object, which now supports runtime sizing in addition to its previous compile-time dimensioning capabilities.
- Some more helper functions have also been added and minor bugs were fixed.

Papyrus is a 2d C++ scenegraph library that utilizes the cairo library to perform drawing operations. In this respect, Papyrus Library is similar to the Gnome::Canvas library.

The initial implementation focuses on function over form, and as a result it should not be considered an optimized run-time library (but it does run reasonably well).
