Parted Magic is based on my work from the GParted LiveCD project and falls under the terms of the GPL.

FreeDOS 1.0

FreeDOS 1.0

FreeDOS aims to be a complete, free, 100% MS-DOS compatible operating system. more>>
FreeDOS aims to be a complete, free, 100% MS-DOS compatible operating system. Mostly achieved except Windows compatibility - Windows standard-mode works on FreeDOS, but 386-mode / WfW 3.11 does not.
Main features:
- Easy multiboot with Win95-2003 and NT/XP/ME
- FAT32 file system and large disk support (LBA)
- LFN support (on command line with 4DOS, which is now freeware: 4DOS for OS/2 is even open source)
- LBACACHE - disk cache (harddisks in CHS and LBA mode, diskette)
- Memory Managers: HIMEM, EMM386, UMBPCI
- SHSUCDX (MSCDEX replacement) and CD-ROM driver (XCDROM)
- CUTEMOUSE - Mouse driver with scroll wheel support
- FDAPM - APM info/control/suspend/poweroff, ACPI throttle, HLT energy saving...
- XDMA - UDMA driver for DOS: up to 4 harddisks
- MPXPLAY - media player for mp3, ogg, wmv... with built-in AC97 and SB16 drivers
- 7ZIP, INFO-ZIP zip & unzip... - modern archivers are available for DOS
- EDIT / SETEDIT - multi window text editors
- HTMLHELP - help viewer, can read help directly from a zip file
- PG - powerful text viewer (similar to V. D. Buergs LIST)
- many text mode programs ported from Linux thanks to DJGPP
- GRAPHICS - greyscale hardcopy on ESC/P, HP PCL and PostScript printers
FreeDOS was previously known as "Free-DOS" and originally as "PD-DOS." For a little trip down memory lane: In 1994, I was a physics student at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. Most of my work for school had been done using DOS - writing programs, dialing up to the university computer, network, analysing lab data, etc. I really loved DOS; I did everything with it. I had a 386 desktop system in my dorm room and an XT laptop that I would carry around with me to do work "on the go".

ChromaTabs Plus 2.2

ChromaTabs Plus 2.2

ChromaTabs Plus makes tabs more readily identifiable by tinting each tab a different color depending on the website loaded more>>

ChromaTabs Plus 2.2 offers you an excellent and very useful product which can make tabs more readily identifiable by tinting each tab a different color depending on the website loaded.

ChromaTabs Plus is the Firefox 3.0-3.5 compatible continuation of the original ChromaTabs 2.0 extension. By default, colors are matched to the sites favicon. Alternatively, tabs may be assigned a site-specific random color. ChromaTabs Plus is a continuation of 2.0 by Justin Dolske.

Major Features:

  1. Firefox 3.5 support
  2. New "most frequent color" mode. By default, this is not enabled. Please try it out and let me know if you would like to see this made the default. As you'll see in the screen shots, this mode provides richer, less "muddy" colors compared to the old "average icon color" method.
  3. "Average icon color" is the new default setting, instead of the random "hash based" default in the previous versions.
  4. Transparent Close Tab buttons.
  5. Improved compatibility with the Tree Style Tab extension. The vertical divider is now colorized.
  6. Fixed a couple bugs where tabs would not be colored in certain situations.

Enhancements:

  • Option to use the most frequent color in the favicon. If the results are inconclusive (rarely), then it falls back to the old method of taking the average color.
  • Defaults to favicon-based tab colors.
  • Transparent close-tab buttons
  • Colorized border between page and tabs when using the Tree Style Tab extension
  • FIXED: When starting firefox w/ a restored session, only the active tab gets colored. Other tabs become colored on mouseover.
  • FIXED: New tabs are not colored immediately after using "Open link in new tab"

Requirements: Mozilla Firefox

Falling Up 004

Falling Up 004

Falling Up its another tetris clone. more>>
Falling Up its another tetris clone. No, Im not trying to make any money off of it or claim it as particularly unique. It is fun. Try it. Its evil. Im told that frequently.
People have even praised it. I wrote it as a precursor to other games, a way to learn new technologies (GLUT, OpenGL, OpenAL, NSIS, ...), and to brush up on old ones (c, for that matter).
The source code is essentially free to do with as you please, if you like. If you "steal" most of it, Id prefer you give credit back to here, but really... whatever. I learned from lots of places and anything I can do to pay that back is cool.
The game is... tetris. You have the same old blocks, and they fall down. You use left and right to move blocks left and right, up to rotate, down to move down a line, and spacebar to drop.
Theres a next item (optional), sound (optional), and... stuff like that. Please, just download it and play it already! Geeze! Youd think I was just rambling...
Enhancements:
- The score file was adding 1 to the "level" the score was attained at every time a new high score was made, give or take; that is fixed.
- I added a background image (doesnt work with trails, may slow down on slower systems), and made F4 quit out of playing the game.

Falling is a fast-paced survival game involving a ball falling through wooden planks.

Falling is a survival game where the user controls a small steel ball and tries to roll it through holes in floors which are constantly moving up.

Avoid being crushed between the top of the window and a floor, avoid mechanical sticks of TNT that explode on contact, and avoid magnetic balloons which pull you to the top of the screen.

Collect jewels for extra points. Try to survive as long as possible!

KWirelessMonitor 0.5.91

KWirelessMonitor 0.5.91

KWirelessMonitor is a small KDE application that docks into the system tray and monitors the wireless network interface. more>>
KWirelessMonitor is a small KDE application that docks into the system tray and monitors the wireless network interface. It supports both Linux (tested on several major distributions) and FreeBSD (tested on 5.2.1).
I wrote this because I like the compactness of the Wavelan/Orinoco monitor in Windows. The KWirelessMonitor systray icon shows the signal quality and the bit rate using a "bar graph" and a "pie chart", respectively.
The tool tip also displays the network name (ESSID) and the power management mode. In the configuration dialog, you can change the bit rate and power management settings of the wireless interface.
It is also able to automatically enable power management when using battery power and/or automatically disable power management during data transfer. By default, it tries to automatically detect the wireless interface.
You can also manually set the interface name if necessary. Experimental: Starting with version 0.5.91, KWirelessMonitor can connect to a network specified by the user (currently only supports unencrypted networks).
Installation:
If you want to install from source, you can do the following in the top level directory (kwirelessmonitor-x.y.z):
./configure --prefix=
make
make install
A few notes:
1. < your_KDE_base > is the base directory in which KDE is installed (/usr for Red Hat/Fedora, /opt/kde3 for SUSE, or try the output of "kde-config --prefix"). This must be set correctly (otherwise the application will not be able to find the icons).
2. If the application builds successfully but it always says "No signal", it is quite possible that your glibc kernel headers and your running kernel are of different versions. You can check this by comparing /usr/include/linux/wireless.h and < your_kernel_source_dir >/include/linux/wireless.h.
3. On FreeBSD 5.2.1, it seems that the following is necessary:
./configure --prefix=/usr/local --with-extra-includes=/usr/local/include
--with-extra-libs=/usr/local/lib
Usage:
To start KWirelessMonitor, simply run the application, and it will dock into the system tray. By default, the application tries to automatically detect the wireless interface. If there are multiple wireless interfaces, the first one is selected. If necessary, you can manually set the wireless interface name by right click on the icon and select "Configure..." (see the screenshot above).
In the configuration dialog, the first time you switch to the "Settings" page, kdesu will ask for the root password, which is necessary for changing the bit rate and power management settings of the wireless interface. If you click "Ignore" or "Cancel", you will not be able to change the settings.
After the settings are enabled, the previously saved settings are immediately applied. Enabling settings and applying the previously saved settings can also be achieved by selecting "Enable Settings..." in the right-click menu. Mouse over the icon to see the tool tip, and left click on the icon to bring up the small status window (left click again to hide it).
Enhancements:
- Experimental: added support for connecting to a network specified by the user. User can enter the appropriate network name (ESSID) and click Ok/Apply to connect to the network. (Currently only supports unencrypted networks.)
Note: Tested on Fedora Core 2, Mandrake 10, and FreeBSD 5.2.1, which are supported by distribution-specific code. For other distributions, it falls back to generic code, which theoretically should work. However, given the quirks I have encountered in the above three distributions, there are likely problems with other distributions as well. Please test this feature and report problems if it does not work.
