aspell-da is an aspell dictionary for spell-checking Danish texts. more>>
aspell-da is an aspell dictionary for spell-checking Danish texts. aspell-da is based on "Den store danske ordliste" (The Comprehensive Danish Dictionary).

The Comprehensive Danish Dictionary (DSDO) is a free spell-checking dictionary for Danish published by Skane Sjeland Linux User Group (SSLUG). One thing which makes this dictionary different from most other dictionaries is that it basically is the result of a vote among the proof-readers. The editorial group has _not_ proof-read all the words in the dictionary, but guides the proof-readers and keeps track of the overall status of the dictionary.

akk@da 0.72 patch01

akk@da 0.72 patch01

akk@da is a simple network monitoring system designed for small and medium size computer networks. more>>
akk@da is a simple network monitoring system designed for small and medium size computer networks. Its purpose is to quick detect system or network faults, and to display information about detected problems for the administrator.
akk@da is designed as a pro-active network monitor. It does not wait for information from any agents, systems, etc. It collects information itself every minute (you can decrease this period to as little as 1 second if needed). Almost all services of the monitored hosts are discovered automatically.
Main features:
- monitoring of host availability, resources and network services (probes use SNMP, ICMP, raw TCP, SSL, DNS, UCDavis script extensions and many others for checking hosts health and collecting data)
- automatic discover of services available on host like CPU, RAM, network interfaces, disks, processes, etc, etc (you do not have to configure it manually, all you have to do is to add a new host (via web based GUI) and akk@da will discover its services for you)
- collecting performance data about monitored services (fully RRDTool integrated)
- services flaps detection
- possible adding you own probes
- easy way to add support to SNMP devices not supported by akk@da through the template based model
- easy to use web based GUI with support features like:
- alarms presentation with option to approve alarms
- filterable logs
- RRDTool based graphs with performance
- configuration of monitored services or hosts
- akk@da system status and management
- users and groups management
- rights management (you can manage right of the group to every single service if you need)
- tree based hosts organization - it allows organizing monitored resources in easy to browse and quick navigate schema
- views support (you can arrange monitored services in groups you need)
- displaying information in compact mode allows you to estimate the host health on first sight
- context menus available all the time allows quick access to necessary options, pages
- nice look icons which makes easy to identify host/service vendor, function and probe type
- web interface looks like standard MS Windows; all GUI written in DHTML & JavaScript - no applets, ActiveX controls and other strange modules.
Enhancements:
- This release fixes a major bug with ignoring discover excludes by the windows_service probe.

plugdaemon 2.5.3

plugdaemon 2.5.3

Plugdaemon is a tool that is inspired by, but not based on, the plug-gw from Trusted Information Systems. more>>
Plugdaemon is a tool that is inspired by, but not based on, the plug-gw from Trusted Information Systems. It was originally a simpler wannabe, but the connection balancing code and other features makes it a lot more useful (as of 2.3.1 its also a feature-complete replacement for plug-gw).
Plugdaemon acts as a "dumb proxy", forwarding a TCP/IP stream from a port on one host to a possibly different port on a separate host. It runs as a daemon to reduce latency in setting up a connection, and optionally logs every connection via syslog. Eventually plugdaemon will be a complete load balancing and monitoring package for servers.
Not all the planned features are implemented in 2.x.
Enhancements:
- Code cleanup, hash connection structures.
- Dietlibc support by Alexander Lazic (see Makefile)
- Fix load-balancing (Ben Low).

Audio::Daemon::MPG321 0.002

Audio::Daemon::MPG321 0.002

Audio::Daemon::MPG321 is a song queue daemon for Audio::Play::MPG321. more>>
Audio::Daemon::MPG321 is a song queue daemon for Audio::Play::MPG321.

SYNOPSIS

use Audio::Daemon::MPG321; my $player = new Audio::Daemon::MPG321 ("/home/dabreegster/foo.mp3", "/home/dabreegster/bar.mp3");
$SIG{CHLD} = IGNORE; $player->add("/home/dabreegster/blah.mp3");
while (1) { until ($player->{player}->state() == 0) { $player->{player}->poll(); select(undef, undef, undef, 1.0); } $player->{pointer}++; unless ($player->{queue}->[$player->{pointer}]) { exit 0; } else { $player->load(); } }

This daemonizes Audio::Play::MPG321, or at least gives it the ability to manage a song queue. You can build a simple queue of songs and move between them.
Note the infinite loop in the synopsis. You must put this in your program or the queue wont work!

All it does is keep Audio::Play::MPG321s knowledge of the state of the player fresh and continously tests to see if one song is over so the next can be loaded. The code is kept out of the module itself because this process must be done, one way or the other, and forking in the module itself is very messy.

The example loop will work fine and you may modify it any way you like to incoorporate it into your frontend, as long as you poll the player, test to see if the song is finished yet, and load the next song in the queue (If there is one!) when it is time to do so.

PyOPC 0.1a

PyOPC 0.1a

PyOPC is a Python library implementing the OPC XML Data Access Protocol Version 1.01 (OPC XML-DA 1.01). more>>
PyOPC is a Python library implementing the OPC XML Data Access Protocol Version 1.01 (OPC XML-DA 1.01).

PyOPC supports the easy creation of XMLDA-compliant clients and servers without having to deal with the SOAP protocol and server issues.

The Open Linking and Embedding for Process Control (OPC) consortium released several open standards, which address interfaces for vertical integration in industrial automation.

Historically, OPC used the Distributed Component Object Model (DCOM) for the underlying communication technology. DCOM has the disadvantage of being platform specific: it is only available for Microsoft Windows based systems. Other platforms, such as Linux, can therefore not retrieve fieldbus data from DCOM based servers.

Another disadvantage of DCOM is that it can not easily bypass firewalls, hence access will often be limited to certain segments of a corporate network.
In the last years, a new technology, called SOAP Web services, emerged. [LIV02] defines a Web Service as: ``a method or function that is available for other applications to access over the Internet.. Web services enable Remote Procedure Calls (RPC) and have the following key features:

High level of interoperability:

Web services technologies are all based on strictly defined open standards1.

High networking abilities:

As an underlying communication protocol, Web services utilize Internet protocols such as the Hyper Text Transfer Protocol (HTTP) or the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP). These protocols have high networking abilities and may moreover penetrate firewalls.

Protocol legible by humans:

The Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP)2 is based on the Extended Markup Language (XML), which is legible to humans. This way, testing and debugging of Web services is far easier than with binary protocols.

Documentation:

Another underlying technology of SOAP is the ``Web Service Definition Language (WSDL) which may be used to define the service, especially by constraining the format of the SOAP protocol. WSDL utilizes the XML Schema language for defining these SOAP messages3. These WSDL documents can be utilized by frameworks to generate stubs that provide a base for accessing a Web service.

Validation:

WSDL in combination with a validating XML parser enable the validation of SOAP messages. This way, custom code will never receive syntactically or semantically erroneous data, which should improve the stability of the service.

SOAP Web services are seen as a successor to several alternative technologies such as DCOM and are already broadly accepted by the industry. More information about the SOAP protocol can be found in [SEE02] and [LIV02].

The OPC consortium reacted on this technological evolution by adopting SOAP Web services for their standards. One recent addition of OPC is the "XML Data Access Version 1.0" (XML-DA 1.0) standard. This standard deals with access of underlying fieldbus technologies and covers the following aspects:

Information model:

The specification provides a simple information model, based on ``OPC Items which represent a piece of information, similar to fieldbus data points. These items can be arranged hierarchically.

Data types:

OPC XML-DA adopts several XML-Schema based data types, such as integer, float, date/time specific types. Moreover it defines arrays which are based on these basic types.

Operations:

The standard specifies 8 operations such as reading/writing and browsing which can be used to access the underlying fieldbus.

Subscription:

The specification further introduces a mechanism to retrieve only changed items, called ``Subscription. Clients may thus subscribe to items and use a dedicated polling operation to retrieve changed data.

TuxGuardian 0.5

TuxGuardian 0.5

TuxGuardian is an application-based firewall. more>>
TuxGuardian is an application-based firewall. TuxGuardian was developed after the observation that Linux security applications were not tailored for lay users. With TuxGuardian youll be able to implement access control policies to the network resources in order to identify and control every application that tries to access the network.
All this means that now you can make your machine secure by controlling and forbidding transmission and reception of data by unauthorized applications.
TuxGuardian makes use of the latest security mechanisms included in the Linux kernel 2.6, such as the LSM framework, and is really simple to use (thats the intention!).
TuxGuardian is free software distributed under the GNU GPL, which means that you can help too!.
TuxGuardian can be used in the next situations:
If you want to protect you computer against spywares, trojans and other evil pieces of software;
If you want to have an additional layer of protection working on a per-application basis,
besides a packet-filtering firewall or other low level security mechanisms;
If you want to stop backdoors and rootkits which modify the expected behavior of your applications from accessing the network;
If you want to implement the internal security of your network (this is specially useful since ordinary firewalls usually only take care of external threats);
If you want to implement an extra security layer in your network, in addition to the one provided by institutional firewalls and gateways;
Main features:
- Detects unauthorized applications trying to act like a client or a server;
- Operates with or without user intervention;
- Verifies the applications integrity so that maliciously modified software wont be able to send or receive data through the network;
- Uses a three-layered architecture of independent modules, which eases the task of addings new features and functionality;
