Score Reading Trainer helps you improve your (musical) score reading skills by practicing with random scores.
It works in a very simple way, you choose the clef, the key and the accidentals you want to practice as well as thee range of notes and then, the program generates a on-screen score with that parameters but randomizing the notes and the accidentals (and everything else that is randomizable).
The keys of the keyboard are mapped to the notes like in a piano (it would be nice to support midi in the future) and all you have to do, is press the right key for the first note you see in the score on the screen.
If you pressed the right key, the note will disapear and replaced by the second one, a diferent note, and you have to repeat the process.
As the notes are generated randomly, theres no way one can predict the following note and since several notes (as much as the screen allows) are on the screen, one can also train pre-reading (reading ahead of the current one) of the notes.
The program doesnt emit any sound (at least, yet) and its not inteded to teach rithmic or melodic concepts.

LaTrine project is a language vocabulary drill.

LaTrine is a curses-based LAnguage TRaINEr. It takes a dictionary and asks you for a word or a phrase, and you try to give the correct answer.

The direction is configurable. The selection of the words or phrases depends on how often you dont know the correct translation.

It can be used with the Free Dictionaries Project, which provides dictionaries for about 50 language combinations.

The objective is to provide enough flexibility in terms of number of games and difficulty parametrization to make gbrainy use on these cases straight forward.

Chess Training Tools is a collection of chess training tools. It includes a chess visualization trainer that teaches chess visualization by drilling you on the color of a particular square, and also on your ability to tell if two squares are the same color, if two (or three) squares are on the same diagonal, if two squares are a knight move apart, or if two squares are two knight moves apart.
This is a program that I wrote for my own use to improve my chess visualization ability. I decided to share it with other players, since I believe they can benefit from it. It basically helps you remember what color the squares are, how the pieces move, and so on, all in your head.
It does so by posing you various excercises that, if practiced every day, will let you visualize positions without the aid of a board.
I use this tool every day. You may want to use it the way I do, or you could develop your own method of training. I work my way through the panels, doing 20 of each excercise. I proceed Color->Same Color->Diagonal 2->Diagonal 3->Knight->Knight 2->Mate.
Then, after all of that I play a game against Vince. Start slow, by either lagging the display by one ply, or by blanking out one quadrant. Work your way up to the 7 ply and four quadrants.
