The system can be scripted and embedded, and includes integrated instrument libraries, post-tonal and microtonal pitch modeling tools, multiple-format graphical outputs, and musical output in Csound, MIDI, audio file, XML, and text formats.
Musical parts are deployed as Textures, layered surface-defining objects containing numerous independent ParameterObjects to control pitch, tempo, rhythm, amplitude, panning, and instrument (Csound) parameters. CMENU is a Perl Module designed to provide functions for the creation of menus in perl scripts.
It follows on from perlmenu but uses a Curses interface for screen manipulation. It also uses the Text::Wrap module to process large chunks of text for display. These two modules should be loaded by user scripts.
The sequence of menu processing is as follows; 1. Initialise the module loop 2. Define a menu structure 3. Define several menu options 4. Call the menu 5. Deal with the menu selections loop 6. Terminate the module
The module also provide some extra functions.
menu_initialise
This routine initialises Curses and creates necessary structures for the menu module. It accepts two parameters which may be empty; $main_title A script-wide title displayed on all pages $advice A short text advisory displayed at the foot of every screen (unless over-ridden by the module). The routine returns nothing.
menu_init
The routine creates a graphic backdrop in the style of the command-line utility "dialog". It accepts 3 parameters $title a menu title displayed at the top $sub_title sub-title text used to give more description $menu_help a help-file to be displayed when the Help key is pressed. The help file is located in a standard location as defined in the configuration file. (optional)
menu_item
Each line of a menu is created using this call. $item_text The text to be displayed as the menu option $item_label A text label which may be displayed beside the text $item_style How the menu option should be drawn or behave Should be a number from 0 to 9 0 (default) preceeds the text with a text label the label is returned if the item is selected 1 use number instead of a text label; numbered in order of definition 2 item is part of a radio list; radio lists allow only ONE item to be selected per menu 3 item is part of a check list; check lists allow any number (inc. none) of items to be selected 4 as for type 0 expect item label is rendered differently usually used to list data fields where the text is the contents of a field and the label is its meaning 5 as for 4 except the item text is right-aligned 6 as for 4 but if the item is selected, field contents can be edited 7 as for 6 except field treated as a numeric value 8 displayed as for 4 except an alternative reference (not the text label) is returned when selected 9 spacer; leaves a space in the menu

The display cannot be scrolled if it exceeds the dimensions of the active window $colour colour style to render the display chosen from HELP|WARN|ERROR HELP screens have an automatic button to continue; WARN and ERROR can have multiple buttons (use menu_button_set to control these)

Featherweight Linux is my Live-CD installable Linux distribution that I remastered from Feather Linux, which is built on knoppix technology. Youll find some great people over at Feather and you can find some good documentation there.
Their goal is to make a light and fast Linux with a very small footprint that can be installed on USB pen drives and such. My goal is a bit different. I want a full featured Linux that isnt bloated with a kazillion gigs of crap that Ill never use. I want a small footprint that is light and fast, even on older machines, but still carries a knockout punch.
So I took Feather and stripped out a bunch of apps that I never even thought of using. I wanted to make an easy to understand desktop that was compatible and easily configurable with the latest apps being developed, so I removed all of the window managers and installed a minimal KDE 3.3 desktop.
I included the most popular internet apps like the Mozilla Suite complete with plugins, Gaim, Gftp etc... I added full printer support and wifi support. In my test environment, it automatically detects and configures both my network printer (HP PSC 1210)and my linksys wireless card. Hopefully, itll do the same for you. It is debian based so I installed Synaptic for easy upgrading and totally FREE software management. Customizing your own system with the software that you want is only a few clicks away.
In its current state, the ISO is about 240mb and the HDD install is about 700mb, which is about 1/4 of all the other overweight distros out there. Once you install it, you can install OpenOffice and a bunch of other stuff if you need it, but I just wanted to make a good solid functional base so you can build your own system if you want.
Featherweight is intended for novice users with "some" linux experience, intermediate users, and experienced linux users alike. It has a pretty straight forward install but you should know linux and HDD partitioning basics before trying to install it.

Enhancements:
- Ive upgraded e2fsprogs and e2fslibs as well as some other critical core files.
- I updated the apt sources and added abiword and acroread, as well as the acroread mozilla plugin, and I added kppp.
- I upgraded samba and switched the quick start konqueror and kde help buttons with a mozilla button and a konsole button.
- I fixed the install script where some folks were getting a blank screen after installation and added a grub install script for easy installation of grub after the initial install.
- The total installed size is now about 800mb.
<<lessTheir goal is to make a light and fast Linux with a very small footprint that can be installed on USB pen drives and such. My goal is a bit different. I want a full featured Linux that isnt bloated with a kazillion gigs of crap that Ill never use. I want a small footprint that is light and fast, even on older machines, but still carries a knockout punch.
So I took Feather and stripped out a bunch of apps that I never even thought of using. I wanted to make an easy to understand desktop that was compatible and easily configurable with the latest apps being developed, so I removed all of the window managers and installed a minimal KDE 3.3 desktop.
I included the most popular internet apps like the Mozilla Suite complete with plugins, Gaim, Gftp etc... I added full printer support and wifi support. In my test environment, it automatically detects and configures both my network printer (HP PSC 1210)and my linksys wireless card. Hopefully, itll do the same for you. It is debian based so I installed Synaptic for easy upgrading and totally FREE software management. Customizing your own system with the software that you want is only a few clicks away.
In its current state, the ISO is about 240mb and the HDD install is about 700mb, which is about 1/4 of all the other overweight distros out there. Once you install it, you can install OpenOffice and a bunch of other stuff if you need it, but I just wanted to make a good solid functional base so you can build your own system if you want.
Featherweight is intended for novice users with "some" linux experience, intermediate users, and experienced linux users alike. It has a pretty straight forward install but you should know linux and HDD partitioning basics before trying to install it.

- Ive upgraded e2fsprogs and e2fslibs as well as some other critical core files.
- I updated the apt sources and added abiword and acroread, as well as the acroread mozilla plugin, and I added kppp.
- I upgraded samba and switched the quick start konqueror and kde help buttons with a mozilla button and a konsole button.
- I fixed the install script where some folks were getting a blank screen after installation and added a grub install script for easy installation of grub after the initial install.
- The total installed size is now about 800mb.

MP3do is a "host" script that split his works in four different phases:
check for audio file type
calculate for total songs time duration
decode (changing format)
burn
At the beginning and at the end of each phase can be executed a number of plugins to modify input files. Thanks to his "pluggable" nature this script is completely independent from programs that handle input and output format file.
To add a new format file still not supported must be only coded a new plugin (its very easy), and MP3do will use it every time its needed. Actually it uses plugin to handle OGG/Vorbis, MP3, all format files supported by sox, and CD audio track. There are many other plugins to perform actions like normalize, leadin/leadout control, check for available disk space, and CD-cover making.
To write a CD-R, MP3do use cdrecord or cdrdao, and uses gettext to print localized output messages. With this script its really quick and easy to create a CD with your favourite songs.
With following command
MP3do -s ~/mysongs/*.ogg cdda:1,4,5 --normalize -w -a
you will:
decode all OGG files in ~/mysongs/ dir to WAV
rip track number 1,4 and 5 from audio CD in default reader
auto convert poor quality audio files to 44100Hz stereo for a proper mastering process
check whether all files fits on CD in default mastering device
normalize all WAV files adjusting volumes to a standard volume level
