p2pshaper 1.4.2

p2pshaper 1.4.2

p2pshaper is a Linux QoS script to ensure good latency and fairness on a slow network connection overloaded by p2p applications. more>>
p2pshaper is a Linux QoS script to ensure good latency and fairness on a slow network connection overloaded by p2p applications. It also includes generic optimizations to improve fairness. This release includes a large number of improvements since the 1.3 test release.
In short p2pshaper is a set of scripts for the Linux OS, that is used to administer bandwidth on a network overloaded by massive p2p traffic.
Normally, the amount of peer-to-peer traffic on such networks, will make it impossible to surf, not to mention doing interactive traffic (ssh). The normal action is to shut down p2p traffic totally, and set up the net, so that Internet connection is only possible through a proxy. This breaks many useful programs. And not all p2p traffic is evil. Normally, one would mark packets coming to a specific port (emule ports) to be of a lower priority than packets to other ports. This used to be a good solution. But now, there exist a huge number of p2p clients, eact with different port ranges, and also, some programs are able to change the ports. Normally the Internet newsgroup port should have a high priority. But binary newsgroups are sometimes used for massive downloads, which will use up all bandwidth. Better packet markers are needed.
p2pshaper currently exists in two versions p2pshaper v1 and p2pshaper v2. They both works in different ways, so v2 is not "better" than v1. Which one you use depends on what kind of functonality you want.
Enhancements:
- Added unified patches against recent kernels With the amount of patches p2pshaper needs, people have had problems patching kernels. To make this easier, p2pshaper now includes patches for most recent kernels. This will probably ease the installation of
- p2pshaper. Old patches have been moved to the old/ directory.
- Normal connections will never get into the lowest priority bandIntroduced already in the 1.4.1 release. This makes sure that normal traffic isnt nuked all the way into oblivion, where only evil traffic (marked by l7_filter, ipp2p or band8ports) should be.

TCPreen 1.4.2

TCPreen 1.4.2

TCP Re-engineering Tool monitors and analyzes data transmitted between a client and a server via a TCP connection. more>>
TCPreen is a simple tool to monitor and analyze data transmitted between clients and servers through connection-oriented streams data such as a TCP sessions; it supports TCP over either IPv4 or IPv6. This tool focuses on the data stream (software/socket layer), not on the lower level transmission protocol as packet sniffers do.

TCPreen listens on a TCP port and wait for incoming connections to come in. Then, it forwards data sent by the connecting client to another server port (possibly on another computer) and forwards server responses back to the client.

TCPreen can display data on your console in real-time and/or save it to log files for later reference. Various display formats are available.

While it was originally meant to help developers reverse-engineer TCP-based protocols, it can also be very useful to debug network server or client software or for a system administrator to monitor a TCP service.

Multi-Cursor Window Manager 1.0

Multi-Cursor Window Manager 1.0

Multi-Cursor Window Manager is a modified Unix window manager which provides multiple cursors. more>>
Multi-Cursor Window Manager is a modified Unix window manager which provides multiple cursors. This allows multiple users to simultaneously interact with a Unix desktop environment.

Using a modified x2x client users can capture the keyboard and mouse input from their workstation and send to their personal cursor on a shared computer display. Multiple cursors are distinguished by different colors, and users can simultaneously interact with separate windows.

There are 7 uniquely colored cursors available. The current multi-cursor window manager is based on a modified version of IceWM 1.2.13

The multi-cursor window manager works by time-slicing the system cursor to provide the appearance of multiple independent cursors.

Compiling the Software:

To compile Ice Window Manager:

>cd icewm
>./configure --without-imlib
>make
>make install

Note: there is a preferences file in the icewm directory ("icewm/preferences"). Move this file to the installation preferences directory. It has some default choices that work well for multi-user interaction. Also, use the "nice" theme in IceWM.

To compile the x2x client:

>cd x2x-mp
>xmkmf
>make

Any bug report or improvement idea is very welcome. See the "how to install" link below for installation instructions on KDE. Else extract the archive in ~/.icons/ .
With the sources download below you can configure and build your own set of cursors regarding transparency, outline- fill- and shadow-color, the size and various other options. See the scripts and README included. Note that you *must* have inkscape and ImageMagick installed to make use of it.
The cursors are named according to the freedesktop cursor naming convention now. The rest is linked. I hope nothing is missing. Additional cursors for mozilla/firefox are availlable.
Want left-handed cursors? Take the "-LH" downloads below.
The RPM installation has moved in 0.4.2 from /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/icons to /usr/share/icons, so if you installed a previous version by rpm you better uninstall the package first - things might get messed up.
Enhancements:
- Fixed .theme file syntax, cursors dont appear as icons in gnome any more (thanx to Sune Vuorela).

KProf 1.4.2

KProf 1.4.2

KProf is a visual tool for developers, which displays the execution profiling output generated by code profilers. more>>
KProf is a visual tool for developers, which displays the execution profiling output generated by code profilers.
The output of profilers being usually difficult to read (beyond the flat profile information), KProf presents the information in list- or tree-views that make the information very easy to understand.
Main features:
- Flat profile view displays all function / methods and their profiling information.
- Hierarchical profile view displays a tree for each function / method with the other functions / methods it calls as subelements.
- Object profile view, for C++ developers, groups the methods in a tree view by object name.
- Graph view is a graphical representation of the call-tree, requires GraphViz to work.
- Method view is a more detailed look at an individual method - cross referenced.
- Recursive functions carry a special icon to clearly show that they are recursive.
- Right-clicking a function or method displays a pop-up with the list of callers and called functions. You can directly go to one of these functions by selecting it in the pop-up menu.
- The flat profile view provides an additional filter edit box to filter the display and show only the functions or methods containing the text that you enter.
- Function parameters hiding if the function name is unique (i.e. no different signatures)
- C++ template abbreviation (template parameters can be hidden)
- Automatic generation of call-graph data for GraphViz and VCG, two popular graph image generators.
- Diff mode support to compare two profile results.

GIMP cursor brushes 1.0

GIMP cursor brushes 1.0

GIMP cursor brushes is a set of (50) brushes for use in the GIMP, created from assorted cursors. more>>
GIMP cursor brushes project is a set of (50) brushes for use in the GIMP, created from assorted cursors. Cursor brushes continues my contribution to my image editor of choice, the GIMP.

Seems basic things like cursors (most used for help-style pages) are often lacking.
I find lots of fancy, useless stuff -- much of it of real artistic merit -- but, as I said, impractical.

I blew the weekend making these brushes. Granted much consists of "prior art", but there was a good deal of editing involved. I even made the "Cursor Mouse" from scratch.

Use them for anything youd like. If you redistribute them, please include this file.

I post these, and perhaps make updates, at gimphelp.org. All the items will also be included (in png format) at wpclipart.com, the Public Domain clipart site.

log4sh 1.4.2

log4sh 1.4.2

log4sh is a logging framework for shell scripts. more>>
log4sh project is a logging framework for shell scripts that works similar to the other wonderful logging products available from the Apache Software Foundataion (eg. log4perl, log4j).
Although not as powerful as the others, it can make the task of adding advanced logging to shell scripts easier, and has much more power than just using simple "echo" commands throughout.
In addition, it can be configured from a properties file so that scripts in a production environment do not need to be altered to change the amount of logging they produce.
Enhancements:
- updated shUnit to shUnit2-2.1.1pre
- added support for the fully qualified class name when using a log4j
- configuration file.
- fixed some variable use standardization (i.e. wrapping in {} chars)
- fixed bug in log4sh_readProperties() -- it was not calling log4sh_doConfigure()
- like it was supposed to.
- added some error checking to log4sh_doConfigure and _log4sh_propAppender() so
- that a useful unit test could be written to verify propert log4j compatibility.
- added testPropertyConfig and testLog4jCompatibility unit tests.
- backported the testSyslogAppender unit test from 1.5.0
- fixed error message in log4sh_setAlternative() when the alternative commmand
- not found. it now makes more sense.

PEAR::Services_Weather 1.4.2

PEAR::Services_Weather 1.4.2

PEAR::Services_Weather searches for given locations and retrieves current weather data and forecasts. more>>
Services_Weather searches for given locations and retrieves current weather data and, dependent on the used service, also forecasts.
Up to now, GlobalWeather from CapeScience, Weather XML from EJSE (US only), a XOAP service from Weather.com and METAR/TAF from NOAA are supported.
Further services will get included, if they become available, have a usable API and are properly documented.
Enhancements:
- Various additions to the METAR/TAF service, including cloud types, pressure tendencies and the US version of ice pellets in the conditions.
- Parsing has been changed for the FMC notations and the wind and cloud related groups.
- EJSE has been fixed to make it work again with the demand for registration.
- Globalweather seems to be back online after more than a year, but apparently the service is broken, because the replies are all invalid; thus it is tagged for removal unless Capescience fixes this.

ncp 1.4.2

ncp 1.4.2

ncp is a utility for copying files in a LAN. more>>
"ncp" is a utility for copying files in a LAN. It has absolutely no security or integrity checking, no throttling, no features, except one: you dont have to type the coordinates of your peer.
npush will now use IPv6 and IPv4 multicast on the multicast groups ff02::6e63:7030 (6e63:7030 == ncp0) and 224.110.99.112 (110.99.112 == ncp). If both methods fail, npush will resort to the broadcast packets used by previous versions. You can force the broadcast method by passing "-b" to npush so that previous npoll versions can see the announcements.
NCP Basically it works like this:
1. You and your buddy want to play Quake
2. Your buddy has a level that you dont have
3. He types npush filename and waits. npush sends out UDP announcement packets proclaiming that someone wants to send something
4. You type npoll. npoll waits until it sees one of these packets
5. The files are copied with tar over a TCP socket, so permissions and file dates (and if you are root, owners) are preserved.

- use libowfat
