Puppet::Body 1.018

Puppet::Body 1.018

Puppet::Body provides an utility class to handle has-a relations and logs. more>>
Puppet::Body provides an utility class to handle has-a relations and logs.
Puppet::Body is a utility class that is used (and not inherited like the deprecated Puppet::Any) to manage dynamic has-a relations between objects.
Main features:
- An event log display so user object may log their activity (with Puppet::LogBody)
- A Debug log display so user object may log their "accidental" activities(with Puppet::LogBody)
- A set of functions to managed "has-a" relationship between Puppet objects.
Puppet framework is made of a set of utility classes. I currently use this framework for a major application Tk application.
If you use directly the Puppet::Body class, you get the plain functionnality. And if you use the Puppet::Show class, you can get the same functionnality and a Tk Gui to manage it.

Security Officers Best Friend 25032007

Security Officers Best Friend 25032007

Security Officers Best Friend (SOBF) is a Security Management and Analysis tool designed to be placed right ontop the SOMAP.org. more>>
Security Officers Best Friend (SOBF) is a Security Management and Analysis tool designed to be placed right ontop the SOMAP.org Repository. The SOBF Tool is currently in development and there is no public download at the moment.
Architecture:
The SOBF tool is written in Java. To run the SOBF Tool you need a Java VM version 1.5 or later. The data used within the tool is stored locally and can be protected accordingly.
It is a main goal to build the tool like an extendable toolset. While all the needed functionality is built into the SOBF tool, it is possible to extend that standard feature set with your own scripts and extentions.
Data Abstraction:
To abstract the database and to access the data more easily the SOBF tool makes use of the Cayenne Framework. The configuration informations are accessible and it is possible to enhance that configuration with your own data views. Such data views can then be used from within your own scripts to enhance the feature set of the SOBF tool.
Database / Storage:
The SOBF Tool currently uses the hsqldb Database engine to store the data. Updates to the Repository can be done without a hassle for the data records are identified by UUIDs as described on the Repositories information page.
The hsqldb stores the data in human readable form. If need be, the data can be extracted from the filesystem accessing the data files directly.
Since the SOBF tool uses the Cayenne Framework to abstract the database layer it is no problem to exchange the hsqldb with any other database system like Derby or PostgreSQL in future releases. This is an important feature for the SOBF tool should help a security officer with his work and not stand in his way. For this reason the SOBF tool should be as integratable into an environment as possible.
Reporting:
We use the Jasper Reports engine to render and print reports
Enhancements:
- This version contains the implementation of the complete Risk Assessment Workflow as described in the SOMAP.org Guide.
- The backup and restore mechanism was enhanced.
- Some changes and updates were made to the Dynamic Reports.
- The application experienced a general spring cleaning.

Auto Save Document 1.2.0.28

Auto Save Document 1.2.0.28

Auto Save Document is an extension used to store the currently shown document in a separate directory automatically. more>>
Auto Save Document is an extension used to store the currently shown document in a separate directory automatically.

Autosave is a small extension, which can be used to store the currently shown document in a seperate directory automatically when browsing a certain site. You may configure the sites, where all pages will be stored to cache, by adding them to a list. The documents are stored as html-text only (no embedded objects like pictures etc.)

The files are cyclic reused, e.g. if you set the cache size to 100, Autosave will store the document contents to X:/MyCache/Autosave_0.html ... AutoSave_100.html and start again with AutoSave_0.htm when the 101st page is browsed. A small Icon in the statusbar will change its colour each time to indicate a page was written.

If you click this small icon, the current page will be dumped, regardless if the site is in the autosave list or not.

NOTE: this extension is really, really simple! Only plain text is saved, no external .css,.js => the result may look ugly! The one and only intention for this extension is, to save the text for external parsing or similar! Look for Scrapbook etc. in case you want to store more than the plain text!

PHP Directory Listing 0.3.0

PHP Directory Listing 0.3.0

PHP Directory Listing is a simple PHP script that will do just that, list a directory. more>>
PHP Directory Listing is a simple PHP script that will do just that, list a directory.
To use PHP Directory Listing just unpack into the directory you want listed, or unpack somewhere else and symlink index.php, index.css and the .icons directory.
Version restrictions:
- Im currently using the Tango Projects icon library, but theres quite a few of the MIME icons missing. If youre good at graphics and help them out, youre supporting much more projects than just this little script!
- The gray box around a mime type icon / thumbnail does not always have the same size.
- There is no good way of specifying the number of columns when the script is used through symlinks
- Actually, the columns should adjust their number automatically, which they dont
Enhancements:
- This release merges Andreas Aronssons changes.
- ASP files are now supported, and directories have a slash appended.

amarokNowPlayingImproved 0.1b

amarokNowPlayingImproved 0.1b

amarokNowPlayingImproved generates an image of the currently playing media. more>>
amarokNowPlayingImproved is a re-write of amarokNowPlaying by Daniel Dormann. It generates an image of the currently playing media using ImageMagicks convert and then uploads it to a remote host.
The image includes the album cover, artist, album name, and track title. It also shows if the engine is paused, and creates a cusomizable "offline" message when the engine is stopped.
The script uses cURL in order to upload the image to a remote host, and supports both FTP and HTTP POST methods, as well as a local filesystem option.
To those that rate my script, please leave feedback as to why you like/dislike it. Thats the only way I can know where to improve!
Main features:
- Ability to upload generated image using HTTP POST method, with secure key (see "HTTP Method" below)
- FTP upload of generated image file
- Can copy generated image to a local path (e.g. ~/public_html/now_playing.png)
- Supports playing, paused, and stopped player states
- Ability to add a border around generated images
- Broke options down a bit more for greater customization

Mindy 1.0

Mindy 1.0

Mindy is a minimal molecular dynamics program. more>>
Mindy is a very simple, serial molecular dynamics program derived from NAMD source code. It currently uses xplor parameter and structure files. The program is written in very straightforward C++.

Installation

Unpack the distribution. A directory named "mindy" will be created. In the mindy directory are two subdirectories, "src" and "test". The "src" directory contains the source code and a Makefile to build mindy.

Typing "make" within the src directory shoud build mindy using g++. If you would like to build mindy using a different compiler or different compiler flags, use one of the build targets in the Makefile or add a new one.

The executable is named mindy_$ARCH, where ARCH is the platform. by default, this is "g++".

Using

The command line syntax for mindy is:

mindy nsteps pdbfile psffile paramfile

Nsteps specifies how many timesteps to take. pdbfile and psffile are the coordinate and structure files, respectively, of the system you want to simulate. paramfile is the name of your parameter file. Both the psf file and the parameter must be in X-Plor format.

The test directory contains two sets of files which can be used as inputs for mindy. "alanin" is a 66 atom polypeptide, and "brH" is a crystal structure of bacteriorhodopsin containing 3762 atoms. Run alanin by typing

mindy 1000 alanin.pdb alanin.psf alanin.params

at the command line.

e-Bot 0.3

e-Bot 0.3

e-Bot is an IRC bot written in Perl. more>>
e-Bot is an IRC bot written in Perl. Its main functioning is based on the Socket.pm Perl module, which makes possible its use on most servers that support Perl.

This software will require Perl 5.

You should be able to start up just by running infobot. If you are using macperl, you will
(currently) have to make one minor change (because $^O didnt work for me under os8).

The infobot uses parameter files, typically in the params directory, to set up with. It treats anything on the command line as a parameter file and tries to load it.

If you are using macperl, you will want to set the value of the macperl parameter to 1 in the
two given param files (in the files dir).

By default, the infobot uses the IRC setup. This may change. NOTE that the irc version has no output by default; youll have to turn up the debug level to get more.

to start up the infobot, just invoke it from the command line.

Project Observer 0.2.4 / 0.3.0pre1

Project Observer 0.2.4 / 0.3.0pre1

Project Observer is an autodiscovering network management system focused primarily on Cisco and Linux networks. more>>
Project Observer is an autodiscovering network management system focused primarily on Cisco and Linux networks.
Introduction & History
Autodiscovering PHP/MySQL/SNMP/CDP based network management system focused primarily on Cisco and Linux networks. Capable of automatically generating network diagrams. Networks are automatically discovered based on CDP data collected via SNMP. IP subnet SNMP scanning is not yet implemented but is planned.
The main strenghts of Project Observer lie in being able to easily navigate a large ISP style network, but it has also been designed to be competant at monitoring Unix servers and services such as Apache.
This is the third incarnation of this design that I know of, the original, Brockrigg, was written by Simon Woodward for Onyx Internet and the second, Kikker, was written by myself for Entanet International.
I used the Brockrigg system quite heavily whilst I was at Onyx, so its seemed only sensible for me to write something similar as Kikker when I moved to Enta. Project Observer has been written with learnt during the Kikker development, and will hopefully be a far more flexible and useful piece of software. With the exception of the unfinished diagram drawing code, Project Observer is far superior to the Kikker implementation.
Im currently using Project Observer as my primary network management/graphing system, but I wouldnt classify it as production software, far from it!
If youd like to test the software, please download it below and email me to tell me that youre using it! Its at the stage where a lot of user input, and development help!, is needed, so please contact me if youre using it.
Developed to work with
- Cisco Catalyst 2950, 3548XL, 3550
- Cisco 7200
- Linux Debian / Ubuntu
- FreeBSD (m0n0wall / pfSense)
- Most other Linux and Cisco hardware
Main features:
- Connected-device discovery via CDP.
- Aware of subnets to show machines on the same broadcast domain.
- Graph interface traffic, packets and errors
- Understands a simple interface naming scheme
- Graph cpu usage, load, memory usage, uptime, users, processes for Net-SNMP servers
- Aware of m0n0wall and pfSense SNMP limitations
- Graph mail statistics collected on remote hosts using mail-graph and courier-graph
- Collect data from Apache hosts using /server-status/
- Can detect Linux, FreeBSD, Windows and Cisco OS types
- Parses Cisco version strings and other OIDs to get hardware type, os version and os featureset
- Heavy use of overlib rollover images to ease use
- Generates primative network diagrams using graphviz

Lazy Backup 0.0.10

Lazy Backup 0.0.10

Lazy Backup project is intended to be so easy even lazy people will do their backups. more>>
Lazy Backup project is intended to be so easy even lazy people will do their backups.

Everyone is encouraged to make regular backups but how many of us actually do? Not only can it take a long time, but it can be complicated with a bunch of steps. Lazybackup is all about making it easy so that people will actually do it.

Current implementation

Started as a script to make my own backups easier there is a ready to use perl application available for download via sourceforge. It is works from the command line, and prompts users to do things like change disks. It should be a lot easier to use than the various steps that would need to be used to backup manually.

Technologies

Currently used

dar - disk archiver as the archive engine
dvd+rw-tools - dvd burning tools
perl - script engine

Planned

parchive - to recover from lost or damaged disks
GTK+/ GNOME - Optional super easy front end
curses - another optional easy to use front-end
c++ - Many of the programs lazybackup depends on are written in c++, and have libraries written in c++ that could make lazybackup more streamlined if used instead of invoking the command line programs.

Goals

Lazybackup has the ambitious goal of being the defacto backup tool of the gnome desktop when GNU/Linux becomes a mainstream OS of non technical people. Lazybackup also aims to appeal to admins via advanced scritability, and full functionality via command line, and library interfaces.

Guiftp is a simple FTP client using the GTK+ toolkit.
It should work if you have Linux (currently Im using Debian 2.1 on a 386 box). If youre using another Unix... well you should try, I have no idea whether it will work or not (if it does tell me, and if not send me a mail to tell me what does not work)
Guiftp actually can connect to a remote host, download and upload files and directories. It supports interrupted transfer. Bookmarks are working. And you can do the usual operations: erase files and directories, create directories, erase directories recursively... on both the local and the remote computer.
Enhancements:
- Choose between ascii or binary downloads.
- Passive or normal connections
- Many bugfixes

Marble 0.3

Marble 0.3

Marble is an early beta preview of the Marble Widget application which is targeted for KDE 4. more>>
Marble is an early beta preview of the Marble Widget application which is targeted for KDE 4.
You need to install both packages: "marble" and "marble-data" to run Marble.
Marble is a generic geographical map widget that is meant to be used by KDE4 applications. It shows the earth as a sphere but doesnt make use of any hardware acceleration (No OpenGL). So although it might look similar to professional applications like Google Earth or Nasa World Wind its rather meant to be a small light weight multi purpose widget. To improve speed I decided to compile the Kubuntu packages with SSE support (-msse).
Main features:
- Marble uses a minimal free dataset that can be used offline. Currently the total amount of data that is meant to be shipped is about 5 MB.
- Marble doesnt use OpenGL or 3D hardware acceleration. It just uses Arthur as a painting backend. Extending it later on to support OpenGL as well shouldnt be hard however I dont consider that the primary focus. Depending on your hardware and the maps being displayed framerate is approximately 5-20 fps.
- Marble uses vector as well as bitmap data: Currently it uses the very old MWDB II data combined with ETOPO 2, which I will update to current SRTM soon.
- Marble displays the world map as a 3D sphere, because its more fun to use and less subject to distortion (So with regard to that its just like NASA WorldWind, Earth3D and Google Earth)
- Marble should start up almost instantly. Currently it "cold" starts fully within 2-5 seconds. On each subsequent start it takes about one second.
- Uses KML-Import to display places (Google Earths open format to store placemarks)
- Cities Down to 12000 inhabitants that you can click on using the mouse. Highest Mountains of each continent. Automatic Placemark label placement.
- Different Map Themes, Layers
- Dynamic Coordinate Grid
- Measure Tool
- Basic Wikipedia integration
