WMCpu 1.3
WMCpu is a dockapp CPU monitor resembling Xosview. more>>
WMCpu is a dockapp CPU monitor resembling Xosview. Displays system/user/nice/idle CPU statistics, and also system uptime. Supports 2.2 or 2.4 kernels.
This is a pretty boring looking CPU monitor dockapp. Its not sexy, not fast, and not really useful either. This is something I started back in 1998 and I guess I really havent had time to play with it since then.
T. Sander sent me a couple fixes for the display problems, so I got motivated to look at this mess and see what I can do with it.
If you havent used XosView, this might be a little puzzling for you. But what you need to do is get XosView and run it for a few minutes and youll understand what this dockapp does.
Installation:
1) % tar -zxvf wmcpu-1.3.tar.gz
2) % cd wmcpu-1.3
3) % make
4) % make install
5) % wmcpu & (or wmcpu -h for help)

Sys::CPU 0.45
Sys::CPU is a Perl extension for getting CPU information. more>>
Sys::CPU is a Perl extension for getting CPU information. Currently only number of CPUs supported.
SYNOPSIS
use Sys::CPU;
$number_of_cpus = Sys::CPU::cpu_count();
printf("I have %d CPUsn",$number_of_cpus);
print " Speed : ",Sys::CPU::cpu_clock(),"n";
print " Type : ",Sys::CPU::cpu_type(),"n";
In responce to a post on perlmonks.org, a module for counting the number of CPUs on a system. Support has now also been added for type of CPU and clock speed. While much of the code is from UNIX::Processors, win32 support has been added (but not tested).

cpulimit 1.1
cpulimit is a simple program that attempts to limit the cpu usage of a process (expressed in percentage, not in cpu time). more>>
cpulimit is a simple program that attempts to limit the cpu usage of a process (expressed in percentage, not in cpu time). This is useful to control batch jobs, when you dont want they eat too much cpu.
cpulimit project does not act on the nice value or other scheduling priority stuff, but on the real cpu usage. Also, it is able to adapt itself to the overall system load, dynamically and quickly.

67-80-85, the openCPU 1.2a
67-80-85, the openCPU is a simulation of a simple and efficient open CPU called 67-80-85. more>>
67-80-85, the openCPU project is a simulation of a simple and efficient open CPU called 67-80-85.
After quite some time of hard labour, I finished to implement a milestone of a simulation of an open CPU, called 67-80-85 (ASCII for CPU), which I somewhat had in my mind for quite some time.
It is a mixture of inspirations and tries to implement a simple, efficient CPU, that should be able to do everything you might expect from a modern CPU, regarding its computation model. If it becomes >THE< CPU in future, because people prefer it, than it would be a lucky thing ... But to make it a success, a number of points need to be done yet:
- support by the GNU C compiler
- logging command use sequences of compiled C/Linux programmes and analysing the executed sequences to optimise code, if it seems necessary
- adopting the simulator to run it (exclusively) as the platform on a PC hardware to run a ported Linux distribution (compiled without printfs for verbose mode, etc. to minimise its size)
- developing a FPGA 678085 prototype on a FPGA
- implementing microkernel routines to support additional commands (i.e. rotate bit-wise, 128-bit fp-ops, etc.)

Xfce 4 Cpufreq Plugin 0.0.1
Xfce 4 Cpufreq Plugin shows in the Xfce Panel current CPU frequency and current used governor. more>>
Xfce 4 Cpufreq Plugin shows in the Xfce Panel the following, chooseable informations:
- current CPU frequency
- current used governor
In a seperate dialog it provides you following informations of all available informations:
- all available CPU frequencies
- all available governors
- used driver for the cpu
Usage:
Using the plugin is quite simple. You select the cpu which you want to monitor in the Xfce Panel. Next thing you could change is the timeout interval how often the informations have to be updated. A good value is 1,0 which means 100 ms.
You can also specify which informations should be displayed in the panel.

Aero AIO: cpu/mem plugin mod 2.1.3
Aero AIO: cpu/mem plugin mod is a mod of the cpu/memory plugin for aero aio. more>>
Aero AIO: cpu/mem plugin mod is a mod of the cpu/memory plugin for aero aio. The hardware information is gathered via backends. You can easily write a python backend for your hardware.
Look at the files cpumemv2_backend.py, cpumemv2_default.py and cpumemv2_i8k.py to learn how to write backends.
Main features:
- default backend that supports CPU temeratures via /proc/acpi/thermal_zone and hard disk temperatures via hddtemp. You can start hddtemp by (as root)
- hddtemp -d /dev/hda
- Replace hda with the hard disk you want monitored.
- ibmacpi backend (for IBM laptops). Thanks to Frank Fiene. Supports CPU, GPU, hdd, fan and pci data, via the ibm acpi kernel module. Boy those IBM laptops have a lot of sensors!
- i8k backend (for Dell laptops). Supports cpu temp and fan speeds via the i8k kernel module.
- The backends are cascaded. The code automatically looks through all backends for support of each feature. the final feature set is the union of all backends
- If an update temporarily fails (this tends to happen with hddtemp), it is indicated on the theme by the : in front of the sensor name becoming an _

Linux Duracell CPU load monitor is a CPU load monitor that uses an AA-battery disposable tester as its display. more>>
The Linux Duracell CPU load monitor is a program that drives a Duracell or Energizer on-battery tester to display the CPU load of a system.
It can be easily adapted to display other things that can use a slow bar graph kind of display that varies between 0% and 100%.
Instructions to hack a AA-battery tester and turn it into a computer display are included in the distribution.

Linux ATI CPU HDD Control Daemon 0.4.6
Linux ATI CPU HDD Control Daemon is able to reduce power consumption in a laptop by scaling back CPU, GPU and HDD. more>>
Linux ATI CPU HDD Control Daemon is able to reduce power consumption in a laptop by scaling back CPU, GPU (Radeon only), and HDD.
It uses CPUFreq, ACPI, HDDTemp, and internal functions. It also checks for thermal overheating for the sake of laptop health.
Now implementing an app scheduling for running aplications when the laptop is on low cpu usage and AC connected. Its still necessary to recompile lach to set the programs to run.
Also im implementing a TCP daemon for non-root users can change the CPU speed withou having to be root. This option will be disabled by default for security reasons, when it is 100% functional it will be added as default configuration.
The makefile now implements arquitecture compiler optimizations, see makefile before compile.
Ive programmed this like a hobbie (who the hell has programming as an hobbie) so, if something isnt in the best way I realy thank people that mail me with ideas for some of the algorithms and functions implementations.
Enhancements:
- A little code cleanup in lach-scaling.c and lach-ati_scaling.c.
- Changes in show_status().
- A compiler change option.
- get_system_version() has been reworked, and is now get_system_config().
- A kernel /proc/config.gz configuration file.
- Changes in the readme, the -k option, and in hddtempd().
- The indentation has been changed to Kernighan and Ritchie.
- System error messages have been added in the panic routine.
- This release logs computer status on emergency shutdown for debugging.
