tk_cdconverter is a small GUI frontend which helps you rip a CD into a directory, convert the resulting wav files into MP3s (using lame), and set the ID3 tags.
Main features:
- rip a Audio-CD into a directory
- convert this files into mp3 in the same or into a 2nd directory
- add some id3 tags informations to all files in this mp3 directory (by using of the cd-text informations on the Audio-CD or per hand)
Installation:
- copy tk_cdconverter_x.x.tgz on a place you want (e.g. /usr/local/src)
- uncompress tk_cdconverter in this directory (tar -xvzf ./tk_cdconverter_x.x.tgz)
- cd ./tk_cdconverter
- run ./tk_install.tcl as root
- choice a place for the files and the start script
Enhancements:
- The program now checks whether a CD is present, so the user no longer gets an error message if there is no CD in the drive.

Audio Convert is a script to convert Wav, Ogg, MP3, MPC, FLAC, APE, or WMA files into Wav, Ogg, MP3, MPC, FLAC, or APE files.
It has an easy-to-use interface that makes it possible to fill in the tags for a few formats and choose the quality of compression.
The script was initially designed for the nautilus file browser, and can be easily installed into nautilus by copying it to the nautilus-scripts directory, at which point you can right click on the desired audio file(s) and choose "audio-convert" from the "scripts" menu.
The script is also known to work on rox or directly from a shell.
Enhancements:
- The installer was modified to create the directory it is supposed to create.

Convert::yEnc::RC is a Perl module for yEnc file-part database.

ABSTRACT

yEnc file-part database

A Convert::yEnc::RC object manages a database of yEnc file parts.

Applications pass the =ybegin, =ypart, and =yend lines from yEncoded files to the object, and it keeps track of the files, parts and bytes as they are received. The object reports errors if the sequence of =y lines is inconsistent.

Applications can query the object to find out what files, parts, and bytes have been received, and whether a given file is complete.

The database can be be saved to and restored from disk.

Wavsilence takes a large WAV file with gaps of silence and create smaller WAV files, containing the data between the gaps. This is done based on length and tolerance parameters, which are used to determine what qualifies as silence. The original way of using it was to split up the chapters of large audio book files.

Development and testing is performed on an x86 machine running RedHat 9, using gcc-3.x. Although testing has not been performed on other platforms, wavsilence should run on any UNIX machine, and possibly on Windows. If you succeed in using wavsilence on another platform, please let me know.

Increasing the sample buffer can *really* increase the throughput of the program. On a dual 933MHz P3 with 256MB RAM and an ATA100 IDE disk, a sample buffer of 64 provides optimal performance (~6MB/s). Id like to hear about performance others are getting.

Enabling the progress display (the -p option) may reduce performance if you have a fast system.

When piping output to a command (the -P option), the throughput is limited to the speed at which the command youre running can take data. If you have the space, it would be faster to let the program create the pieces in separate files (the default behavior) and then
use the "-e" option to exec a program on each file when its done.

Nautilus-audio-convert is an extension of the Gnome desktop manager Nautilus. nautilus-audio-convert introduces contextual menus hen clicking on an audio file.

The new menus permit to convert the audio file into other audio formats.

Supported audio formats are:
