conn-close gives us possibility to get rid of entries in ip_conntrack about ESTABLISHED TCP connections that goes through our server.

conn-close script uses hping2 to send spoofed RST packets which will fool conntrack and cause specified connections to be considered by conntrack as closed (now these connections will be in ip_conntrack in CLOSE state), even though RST packets will be more likely discarded by destination host.

Information about connections is read of course from /proc/net/ip_conntrack.

Idea was taken from script seen somewhere on the internet.

Score Rated 0.3

Score Rated 0.3

Score Rated is a rated scoring script that uses the rating as a factor in the scoring process. more>>
Score Rated is a rated scoring script which uses the rating as a factor in the scoring process. Higher ratings leds to higher score. The rating is factored in each play.

I make no promises but the script hasnt messed up my system yet.

Usage:

You must use ratings for this script to have any point. Run the script, and it will be used to calculate scores for your tracks from then on. The script can be tweek by editing the file.

Known flaws:

Script reads rating when the song starts playing. Changes made after that is not considered. To make sure a new rating is used you could stop and restart the script or pause and play the song.

I will be looking in this for a future version. Suggestions are welcome.

JSIEBEX is a application that uses the obexftp toolset to access the memory of an obex speaking mobile device. I started this project because I wanted a comfortable way to upload and download data to and from my Siemens S55.

The Project is to be considered alpha. So do not expect it to work with anything else then a siemens s55. It uses the IrDa device to connect to the phone right now. With serial I have some problems... checking that the next few days. So you must have IrDa running properly.

If you speak Java and XML you are welcome to take part in development.

LAME MP3 Encoder 3.98.2

LAME MP3 Encoder 3.98.2

Today, LAME is considered the best MP3 encoder at mid-high bitrates and at VBR. more>> LAME development started around mid-1998. Mike Cheng started it as a patch against the 8hz-MP3 encoder sources. After some quality concerns raised by others, he decided to start from scratch based on the dist10 sources. His goal was only to speed up the dist10 sources, and leave its quality untouched. That branch (a patch against the reference sources) became Lame 2.0, and only on Lame 3.81 did we replaced of all dist10 code, making LAME no more only a patch.
The project quickly became a team project. Mike Cheng eventually left leadership and started working on tooLame, an MP2 encoder. Mark Taylor became leader and started pursuing increased quality in addition to better speed. He can be considered the initiator of the LAME project in its current form. He released version 3.0 featuring gpsycho, a new psychoacoustic model he developed.
In early 2003 Mark left project leadership, and since then the project has been lead through the cooperation of the active developers (currently 4 individuals).
Today, LAME is considered the best MP3 encoder at mid-high bitrates and at VBR, mostly thanks to the dedicated work of its developers and the open source licensing model that allowed the project to tap into engineering resources from all around the world. Both quality and speed improvements are still happening, probably making LAME the only MP3 encoder still being actively developed.

nagios-check_internet project is a Nagios plugin that checks if the Internet connection is still up by pinging specified hosts. If one of them responds, the connection is considered up.

Modify the internetservers file that came with the archive and put it somewhere on your system where the plugin can read it (I use /etc/nagios/etc/internetservers).

tkCybernetics project is a lightweight cybernetics simulator.
It was designed for didactic purposes, but might be useful for quick tests of circuits.
Main features:
- The usual elements (all apropiately parameteryzable) are available - highpass filter, lowpass filter, integrator, sums, characteristics, completely customizable functions, factors, input-functions and output at arbitrary points of the circuit.
- The results are displayed as graphs and can be exported as postscript. Does currently not support saving of circuits. Checks if circuits are logicaly correct. Its NOT intended for simulation of artificial neural networks or really complex siystems. Its extensible, but only if you know Tcl (and know it well) - port to Python considered.

Linux-VServer 2.2.0

Linux-VServer allows you to create virtual private servers and security contexts. more>>
Linux-VServer allows you to create virtual private servers and security contexts which operate like a normal Linux server, but allow many independent servers to be run simultaneously in one box at full speed.
All services, such as ssh, mail, Web, and databases, can be started on such a VPS, without modification, just like on any real server. Each virtual server created by Linux-VServer has its own user account database and root password and doesnt interfere with other virtual servers.
Enhancements:
- This is the initial release of the second stable Linux 2.6 branch of Linux-VServer.
- It includes all the considered stable features from the previous development branch.

Swiftfox 2.0.0.4pre

Swiftfox 2.0.0.4pre

Swiftfox project is an optimized build of Mozilla Firefox. more>>
Swiftfox project is an optimized build of Mozilla Firefox. Swiftfox has builds for both AMD and Intel processors. The 2.0.0.1 release is based on Firefox 2.0.0.1.

The trunk is the most cutting edge of all the builds and is where Firefox 3 is being developed.

Branch builds are built from a code base that has been tested much more than the trunk and therefore should be considered to be more stable.

Swiftfox 2.0.0.2pre is from the 1.8 branch which is where Mozilla tests security patches and other minor fixes before they release the next Firefox update. If you want your security patches as soon as possible and require a browser built from a stable code base this build is perfect for you.

cddsolve 0.9

cddsolve 0.9

cddsolve project is a double dummy bridge solver. more>>
cddsolve project is a double dummy bridge solver.
It utilizes alpha-beta pruning and minimax searching to find the number of tricks a given side can take under the assumption of optimal play.
While the complexity of the problem may be enormous depending on the given deal and contract, cddsolve is fast enough to be actually helpfull for many double dummy bridge problems.
cddsolve has an predecessor called ddsolve which is implemented in python and also available on this page.
ddsolve is considered to be a prototypical implementation to demonstrate the basic algorithms and quantify the impact of different optimizations.
Enhancements:
- cleaned up the preprocessor macros and added some bogus return values to make recent gccs happy.
- incremented the TPBUCKETCOUNT in ddtranspos.c, trading computational speed against memory footprint. shoe size is about 10mb larger now.
- released 0.9.

CryptNET Password Candidate Generator 1.1.0

CryptNET Password Candidate Generator 1.1.0

CryptNET Password Candidate Generator is a password generator. more>>
CryptNET Password Candidate Generator is a password generator. It generates a list of password candidates for the user to choose from by mapping operating system sources of pseudorandomness into printable character arrays using a mod operation.
It is capable of generating passwords composed of printable characters, alpha numeric characters, alphabetic characters, or numeric only characters.
By default, passgen generates 12 character passwords.
With current grid and cluster computing technology, that is considered the minimum number of characters a password needs in order to be safe from a brute force or dictionay attack.
Enhancements:
- Support for a system wide configuration file is now available, allowing administrators to set defaults that match their local password selection security policies.
- Some minor bug fixes have been made, and some help text formatting improvements have been applied.
- Finally, autotools support has been improved in order to simplify the installation process.

MWSpeaker 1.0

MWSpeaker 1.0

MWSpeaker project is the worst speech synthesis software ever. more>>
MWSpeaker project is the worst speech synthesis software ever.

You provide a phrase, and MWSpeaker looks up each word in Merriam-Websters online dictionary, downloads the corresponding pronounciations, and plays them in sequence.

M-W Speaker takes a phrase (no punctuation please), takes each work, looks it up on the Meriam Webster website, downloads the sound file, and then, once it has sound files for each word in the phrase, plays them all back to back.

The result is something that resembles the sentence with any proper names and words not considered proper english words removed. This process is pretty slow since each word has to be looked up and the sound file downloaded by hey :)

This is mostly just for fun. I see no practical use for this whatsoever.

Its written in Python.

autonet 0.5.0

autonet 0.5.0

autonet looks up existing network configuration files and probes the network. more>>
autonet.py is a small application which looks up existing network configuration files, probes the network with arping in order to determine if it can connect and ideally set up a working internet connection and routing.

If no internet connection is available, autonet.py will parse each configuration file, extract different network setups and probe if the network environment works with this configuration.

The probing is done with arping. A bogus IP 0.0.0.0 is used in order to get the network interface up. Then autonet.py tries to arping the gateway.

If the gateway responds the configuration is considered good. At this point there is no routing, so only hosts within the subnet defined in the configuration is used.

If none of the gateways in the configuration works, the probe gets more brutal by just setting up the network interface according to the configuration file, and and ping the gateway. Again, no routes yet.

If a configuration is considered working (gateway is pingable), the route is set as described in the configuration file. An internet connection should be established then.

This is also checked by pinging k.root-servers.org (as default, override with --testhost), use an IP address here, as DNS is not handled by autonet (yet?).

There is a special feature in autonet.py for owners of some models of Asus notebooks. The package contains a module which uses two LEDs of the laptop to show activity.

While searching and probing, the blue LED is flashing, if a working configuration is found the orange LED flickers for a second. Also this will only work if you have the asus module in your kernel, and it has *not* widely been tested. Have a look at Asus.py for details.

Some common vars can be edited in autonet.py, such as locations of required programs and some common settings (of which timeout does not even work yet) but in most cases supplying reasonable commandline arguments should be sufficient.

As Gentoo has slightly different settings, there are two scripts for Gentoo users, to make integration into the Gentoo init system easier.

Struct::Compare 1.0.1

Struct::Compare 1.0.1

Struct::Compare is a recursive diff for perl structures. more>>
Struct::Compare is a recursive diff for perl structures.

SYNOPSIS

use Struct::Compare;
my $is_different = compare($ref1, $ref2);

Compares two values of any type and structure and returns true if they are the same. It does a deep comparison of the structures, so a hash of a hash of a whatever will be compared correctly.

This is especially useful for writing unit tests for your modules!

PUBLIC FUNCTIONS

$bool = compare($var1, $var2)

Recursively compares $var1 to $var2, returning false if either structure is different than the other at any point. If both are undefined, it returns true as well, because that is considered equal.
