DMAring 0.9
DMAring project is a novel generic network interface card driver architecture. more>>
DMAring project is a novel generic network interface card driver architecture which works in hybrid interrupt-polling mode to deliver superior real-time performance on Linux, Redhat Linux or Linux-RTAI-LXRT (a real-time co-kernel for Linux with user level extension).
Existing Linux drivers are inefficient, they saturate the CPU at a much lower packet rates than the maximum wire line packet rate that is possible. But with this driver, vanilla network cards can be used for high speed packet capturing. This driver improves the packet capturing speed by 7 to 10 times, and the real-time packet delivery response by 500 to 5000 times over existing drivers and alternate approaches (HIP, NAPI, pfring, check the references in the papers for performance comparisons [1, 2, 3]), depending on whether Redhat Linux or RTAI is used. Thus this obviates the need for expensive high capacity hardware, specialized network data acquisition cards and systems (for example from Endace).
This project contain basic source codes, which other developers can use/adapt for their applications, and three published conference papers [1, 2, 3] describes the architecture and establishes its benefits. One of the papers (at SANE 2006) also documents the detailed architecture and provides guidelines to modify any Linux network interface driver (Donald Becker style drivers).
Earlier I had received lot of mail request from networking, network security/monitoring domain people, to get these codes or modified specific network drivers. I am looking forward that some developer will take up this project, churn out driver modifications for the most common net work cards and share with others. I will continue to add other drivers, and libpcap library modifications when I get more time.
Anybody willing to know the issues involved in real-time Linux or looking for real-time networking solutions can take a look at my Masters thesis. I found RTAI with LXRT to be a very tractable, good performance, cheap (free!) real-time Linux option. My thesis contains some useful performance related discussions on this.

CCFlauncher 5.7
CCFlauncher is the meta-tool for starting and joining a CCF collaborative computing session. more>>
CCFlauncher is the meta-tool for starting and joining a CCF collaborative computing session. With CCFlauncher you can invite your colleagues/friends to join you in a shared X windows virtual desktop with multiparty audio conferencing, white board, and file sharing in just a few mouse clicks. In this setting, participants interact with each other, simultaneously access and operate computer applications, refer to global data repositories or archives, collectively create and manipulate documents or other artifacts, perform computational transformations, and conduct a number of other activities via telepresence. Research issues addressed in this project include problem solving environments and methodologies for laboratory and instrument-based scientific disciplines, and computer science issues in heterogeneous distributed systems. New approaches are being investigated and developed for fast multiway communication, robust geographically distributed data management methodologies, high-performance computational transforms inlined within collaboration sessions, and related auxiliary issues such as active documents, security, archival storage, and experiment management and control.
The main goal of CCF is to enable the construction of efficient and flexible collaborations. Although we expect that CCF will be useful in a number of scenarios, a guiding principle in its design was to identify and meet the needs of natural science investigators with a diverse set of computing, instrument interfacing, and collaboration requirements. Thus, the primary target domain for CCF is collaborative research in chemistry, physics, and biochemistry, and closely related areas. Research methodology in laboratory and instrument based sciences is increasingly dependent upon computation, interaction, visualization, and data storage/retrieval. The CCF project is investigating and developing innovative enabling technologies to support collaborative, distributed, computer-based problem solving in the natural sciences. The goal is to evolve a virtual environment for distributed computing that integrally supports human AV communication, high performance heterogeneous computing, and distributed data management facilities. Computational transforms, instrument interfacing, data referral, visualization, and collaborative work in chemistry, physics, and biomedical fields will guide the development of methodologies and software tools to facilitate collaborative research.

Getcontrol project is a GNOME 2 multimedia frontend.
Getcontrol is a GNOME 2 multimedia frontend.
It aims to play DivX, DVD, MP3, Ogg, and Shoutcast streams, and also provide digital photo viewing, video conferencing, etc., all connected with your remote control and running on your TV out.
It relies on Gstreamer for multimedia playback.
Indeed even with a smart lirc configuration it was a real maze to launch any DVD player application, or even a simple XMMS.
My wife just turned crazy and was not able to use it. I realized that compared to a hardware player my remotelly controlled linux box was not so friendly to use.
Then i took my Anjuta IDE, some docs from gnome.org websites and started to develop my own coherent GUI for this multimedia box.
Enhancements:
- Releasing : getcontrol 0.1.7
- Divx : Divx playback from CDROM (mounting/unmounting/ejecting)
- Audio : MP3 streams supported with xml configuration file (bookmark)
- Control : Play/Pause/Stop/Mute/VolUp/VolDown supported
- Tasking : Pressing menu while watching movie suspend movie and go back to main menu. Movie can be restored from menu.
- Busy activities : Implemented a busy animation showing clearly to the user what is busy. (Inspired from Mac OS X(R))

JWebPresenter project is a bitmap-image based Web presenting system. more>>
JWebPresenter project is a bitmap-image based Web presenting system.
It can add a Web extension to your favorite presentation tool, such as PowerPoint, MagicPoint, or Impress.
This is useful in distance learning, meeting, conferencing, and other situations.
It uses bitmap images to avoid compatibility problems. Other features include platform independence and simplicity.
Main features:
- Bitmap image based presenting: Hence we have no compatibility problem related to character corruption, locale, font, ... You can (and you must) use an authoring tool (e.g., PowerPoint, OpenOffice, MagicPoint, etc) to create the slides, then export into images to be presented with JWebPresenter.
- Platform independent: Any system satisfying the requirements should be OK, including Linux PC, Windows PC, PDA Sharp Zaurus SL-C760 (JWebPresenter SS v1.0x).
- Simplicity: I believe simple thing should be done simply. JWebPresenter SS v1.2.1 package (tar.gz) is only 36KB, including source, pre-compiled binarary, document, sample, and a 18KB (uncompressed size) license called GPL!
- Protocol and Image format independent: All protocols and image formats supported by JRE (Java Runtime Enviroment) should be OK.
- Efficience: There is little overhead in JWebPresenter.

erikyyyphone is an Internet audio conferencing application. No new features are added so far.It produces very low traffic on your line! Yes there already was this great audio conference software back in those old good days! All i did was fix a bit and automake it.
The servers are designed to communicate with each other on the internet. You control your server with your client.
Once the client shows its main screen, you can enable recording of digital audio by pressing the SPACEBAR. you will see that "**" appears around "RECORD WISH". this means that recording will actually be activated when possible. Recording IS really
activated, once you see "**" around "RECORD". why is it this complicated? well, if someone is just speaking to you, your soundcard is locked and recording is not possible. but because "RECORD WISH" is activated, recording will be started, once the person stops talking to you.
Recorded sound is sent to all servers listed in the "outgoing connects" list.
On the other hand, if any other servers connect you, they are listed in the "incoming connects" list.
You can connect a new server by entering its IP, for example:
10.50.121.4
Please press ENTER when you are finished full names like "www.linux.org" are not supported, due to some technical difficulties not mentioned in this file ... (hehe. now in the year 1999 i will tell you, why this is so. dns lookups do block and so sound cannot he heard)
Enhancements:
- fixed sound stuff. program now works again!
