J Operating System is primarily intended for programmers.
Target Users:
- Hobbiests--You used to buy computers to do programming. They didnt do much else. Windows doesnt even come with a compiler, which is ironic since Bill Gates wrote BASIC. The "J" operating system is primarily intended for programmers. Ive attempted to lower the bar, so amateurs can contribute. I hope to recreate the dynamic environment that used to exist when the Commodore 64 was around and everyone was creating odd-ball software.
- Researchers--Im sure many lab researchers still use DOS because they have to interact with hardware, which is difficult with Windows.
Main features:
- No security! You can access all ports, memory and disk blocks to your hearts content. When youre working with your own computer, security just gets in the way and makes things slow--I hate anti-virus and anti-spyware because they just slow things down. When you know you dont have a risk, have no secrets and do regular back-ups, who needs security?
- Uniformity
- There is no virtual memory and everyone is on the same address-map. You can easily communicate between tasks, passing addresses. Addresses start at a base of zero and, essentually, segment registers are not used.
- There is basically one language to learn called "C+" which is a little more than "C", but less than "C++". You dont need to learn a scripting langauge because everything uses this syntax.
- There is an extension of ASCII called "J" rich text which allows colors, links, graphics and various widgets in your documents. This format is used in source code, documents, help, menus, etc.
- Support for compressed, encrypted and contiguous files.
- FAT32, FAT12 and ISO9660 filesystems.
- Blazing-fast compiler which can recompile everything in 5 seconds. It doesnt optimize.
- All source code is included and its still around a Meg.
Hardware:
- PS/2 mouse and keyboard
- VGA graphics
- Some hard drives. Must be on the primary or secondary IDE controller and support LBA28. Drives of 120Gig are the limit.
- Some CD-ROM/DVD drives, including burning.
- Some floppies. Just 1.44Meg and not all types.
- No USB support yet
- No network support yet
- ASCII printers on the parallel port are supported.

AntiCMS is a minimalist content management system for small and simple websites. The main purpose of this system is to separate content, structure and layout.
Layout is defined using templates; content and structure are stored in XML file - database is not required. System is written in Python and released under the GPL.
Its still in early stage of development, so errors and unpredicted behaviour may occour. Currently a content editor is being developed, which will run on users computer and allow easy managent of content and structure of websites.
Enhancements:
- This release adds site configuration (it is now possible to change encodings, paths, and some other properties) and a new variable in the template engine.

You can organize and categorize your multimedia stuff in sections. System can automatically scan selected directory with all subdirectories and add all multimedia content into gallery.

System allows you to create system reports and export them into MS Excel or XML format.

You can revoke access from some IP addresses. This is the good way to avoid sniper activitity of flooders, spammers, etc ... Note: Also, you can use broadcast addresses to wide range banning.
Control panel
You are allowed to administrate system by remote access using web-browser based control panel. Control panel provides you wide range of settings. Its optional for routine administration from any computer connected to the internet. All settings can be exported into file for backup or future use.
Design customizer
DEV w.m.s. allows you to change design using special user-friendly tool (contained in control panel) without editing html code! Using this tool, you are able to create variuos design schemes and share it with your friends. Also, if you dont want to use design customizer, there is way to create design manually by editing html and css sources.

Distributed Internet Backup System works by doing all its communication through email. The benefit of using email for transport is that clients behind firewalls or with intermittent connections to the Internet can use DIBS reliably.
Since disk drives are cheap, backup should be cheap too. Of course it does not help to mirror your data by adding more disks to your own computer because a virus, fire, flood, robbery, power surge, etc. could still wipe out your local data center.
Instead, you should give your files to peers (and in return store their files) so that if a catastrophe strikes your area, you can recover data from surviving peers. The Distributed Internet Backup System (DIBS) is designed to implement this vision.
Note that DIBS is a backup system not a file sharing system like Napster, Gnutella, Kazaa, etc. In fact, DIBS encrypts all data transmissions so that the peers you trade files with can not access your data.
Enhancements:

- Updated add_peer and edit_peer commands to allow sizes to be specified using k, m, g, t (e.g., 10k, 10m, 10g, 10t).
- Updated the protocol DIBS uses to exchange store, unstore, probe, and other messages between peers. The new protocol is XML based to allow easier debugging, parsing, and extensions.
- Fixed a deadlock bug reported by Jason Martin in a message to the dibs-discussion mailing list.
