Multiplication Station 1.3.3

Multiplication Station 1.3.3

Multiplication Station is an application to help memorize multiplication tables through 12x12. more>>
Multiplication Station project is an application to help memorize multiplication tables through 12x12. The user logs in and faces a blank 12x12 grid.
The program gives all the products in random order. When a correct answer is given, the problem is marked "complete" and the corresponding grid cell displays the product (i.e. row * col). If a wrong answer is given then the problem is inserted at a random position in the problem queue and asked again later.
The countdown-timer works as follows: if set for "5", then after 5 seconds, if no answer yet entered, the problem is re-inserted in the problem queue to be asked again, later. This has been found to keep kids more focused.
The administrator can change the operator for each account separately among {+,-,*} for the analogous exercises.
Main features:
- Multiple Account control via Admin Interface
- Separate configurations for each account
- High-Score display encourages competition
- Configurable countdown timer encourages attention
- Configurable number of points to award
- Configurable operator support for add/sub/mult
- Configurable colors
Enhancements:
- The admin panel has been made resizable.
- A call to the anti-alias function that affected some displays has been fixed.

Linux Mint 3.0 (KDE Edition)

Linux Mint 3.0 (KDE Edition)

Linux Mints purpose is to produce an elegant, up to date and comfortable GNU/Linux desktop distribution. more>>
Linux Mints purpose is to produce an elegant, up to date and comfortable GNU/Linux desktop distribution.
Is Linux Mint suitable for companies?
Yes. Linux Mint offers paid commercial support to companies and individuals. Free community support is also available from the forums and the IRC channel. The main purpose of Linux Mint is to innovate and constantly bring the best desktop solutions to its users. For this reason, the release cycle is fast and a new version of Linux Mint can be released every month or every two months. All released versions of Linux Mint are actively supported and some of the releases (possibly Bianca or Cassandra) will come with a Long Term Support guarantee (a guarantee that our Support Center will support these releases for the years to come).
Is Linux Mint suitable for individuals?
Yes, definitely. We believe Linux is the best operating system on the market. There are more than 300 active Linux distributions and were working hard at becoming the best alternative for your desktop. This is a tough competition as there are other great desktop operating systems and distributions out there. We have faith in the quality of our desktop and a lot of great ideas. If your computer is a PC and you have more than 512MB RAM you should try Linux Mint and see what you think about it. If youre running a 5 years old non-free operating system such as Microsoft Windows XP you should definitely be impressed. We like hearing about your experience and taking your suggestions onboard so please give us your feedback.
Why is there a Light Edition and a Full Edition?
Linux Mint respects the GPL and it also respects the copyrights and licenses of the proprietary software it distributes. However it uses technologies that have been patented in some parts of the World. Most countries do not recognize the legitimacy of software patents so for most of our users this is not a problem. But if youre unlucky and you live in a country where software patents are legally enforcable, you need a version of Linux Mint which is free of patented technologies, and this is what the Light Edition is about.
Why does Linux Mint include proprietary drivers?
It doesnt. If it did, it would be legally wrong (because it would violate the GPL) or ethically wrong (if some dirty trick was used for the user to link the code to the kernel for instance).
What about proprietary software?
We believe in open source and release all our work with the corresponding source code. We owe a lot to the Free Software movement and to the GPL but we also owe a lot to all the developers who contributed ideas and tools and who made software better and better throughout the years. Some of them released their source code as well and thus granted us more freedom and more flexibility. Others released their software with proprietary licenses and although this didnt give us the freedom we would have liked it still contributed to make software better. We like Software in general, Free Software even more, but we do not believe in boycotting Proprietary Software.
Enhancements:
- The KDE Community Edition of Cassandra is finally out! This release is based on Bianca KDE and compatible with all Feisty repositories. It comes with KDE 3.5.6 and a Linux kernel 2.6.20. Openoffice, Thunderbird and Sunbird replaced KOffice and Kontact. Beryl 0.2.1 is included with Beryl-Manager. The default software selection includes: Dolphin 0.8.1, Tasty Menu 0.8.2, Amarok 1.4.6, K3B 1.0, Scribus 1.2.5, KMyMoney 0.8.5, Sun Java 6, Digikam, GIMP.... This desktop-ready KDE Mint has all the usual Minty goodness for the web and media applications. I have made the choice to make the Mint KDE Community edition more pro-desktop and to mirror the main edition closer with respect to the main applications.

Championship Generator produces a list of all the meetings which must occur between the participants of a championship.

It can be used to produce the challenges between teams if competitions are not foreseen to directed elimination. Championship Generator project supports championships where it is necessary to consider the matches at home and away.

It can also try to avoid fights between the big teams in the first and last days. It also supports the case in which two teams have a mutual stadium, and therefore cannot simultaneously play at home or away.

PseudoQ 0.9

PseudoQ 0.9

PseudoQ is a Su Doku puzzles on your computer. more>>
PseudoQ is a Su Doku puzzles on your computer.

PseudoQ is a java application for creating, playing and solving Su Doku (a.k.a. number place) puzzles of various types. It features both GUI and command-line operation. The automatic solving of puzzles uses "smart" techniques rather than a brute force search of every possible combination.

PseudoQ was originally intended as an entry for a competition in Linux Format magazine, but due to various factors wasnt ready in time for their deadline. However, it was complete enough that it seemed a shame not to finish it, and maybe raise some money for charity from my efforts.

PseudoQ is freely distributable under an open source license (LGPL). You are free to copy it, install it on as many machines as you like, give copies away to all your friends, etc. If you like it, however, perhaps you would consider making a donation? My job pays well enough that I dont need to make any money selling PseudoQ, so every penny I receive from PseudoQ will go to charity.

CodeInvaders Challenge 3.1

CodeInvaders Challenge 3.1

CodeInvaders Challenge project is a Java-based, real-time programming game based on the Eclipse platform. more>>
CodeInvaders Challenge project is a Java-based, real-time programming game based on the Eclipse platform.

CodeInvaders Challenge is a Java™-based, real-time programming game based on the Eclipse platform. It uses the Eclipse platform and a simple API that allows users unfamiliar with Java to easily compete while they learn the language.

CodeInvaders Challenge gives users the opportunity to pit their Java programming skills against other players in a battle of space conquest. Each player writes a Java class that represents and controls a spaceship. Each ship (class) is placed in a simulated battle along with ships from other players.

The game puts up to six spaceships together in a match and places each of them in a random location with the same amount of energy. The spaceship class allows each player to control his ships thrusters and weapons. The ship can move around to collect energy, attack opponents, and bring energy back to its home planet. Points are awarded for different actions, and the player with the most points wins.

When used in a tournament, CodeInvaders Challenge allows direct, real-time competition between teams. Each player can submit his intermediate solutions and test against the submitted ships from other players. This competition allows each player to learn from the strategies of other players and modify his ship appropriately. After the final submission from each player, the final winner can be found by running a tournament consisting of several rounds and eliminations.

Firestorm 0.5.5

Firestorm 0.5.5

Firestorm is an extremely high performance network intrusion detection system (NIDS). more>>
Firestorm is an extremely high performance network intrusion detection system (NIDS). At the moment it just a sensor but plans are to include real support for analysis, reporting, remote console and on-the-fly sensor configuration. It is fully pluggable and hence extremely flexible. Firestorm performs a lot better than all other systems I have tested (such as snort and prelude) by as much as a factor of 2 (and thats under favourable conditions, it way outstrips the competition under a targeted DoS attack).
A Network Intrusion Detection System is a system which can identify suspicious patterns in network traffic. If a firewall is a doorman, a NIDS is an undercover KGB agent. He silently gathers intelligence and can watch an enemy even if the door security has already let them in (maybe the enemy can make fake identification documents).

Linux 2.x
FreeBSD 4.x
OpenBSD
Solaris
Should compile and run on any mainstream UNIX really...
